I had a computer build that I needed completed because it was my first time and I wasnt sure if everything was where it was supposed to be. Stanley, who did the build, was wonderful to communicate with and the turnaround time was amazing as well. Shannon was also very informative about the whole process. Like many of the other reviews, I really appreciate the professionalism and the quality of service and work coming out of SD Bytes. Will definitely be returning for all my PC issues in the future!

I took my Macbook here after getting liquid damage. Shannon gave excellent service and clear communication. He was able to fix a few individual components (speaker, touchbar, etc) that were causing issues. My laptop has been working perfectly ever since.A different repair shop had recommended replacing pretty much everything (including the motherboard) which would have cost me almost as much as getting a new computer. Unlike at that other shop, I really felt like I could trust Shannons advice. He just repaired what was needed, and the motherboard actually didnt need to be replaced at all. I saved so much by taking it here. Thank you!

Highly recommend!! I had one key broken on my laptop. Several places told me the whole keyboard needs to be replaced without even looking at the key. SD Bytes told me to bring it in so they could see if they could repair the one key, which they were able to do within 5 minutes! Amazing service.

I only got a free diagnosis, but they went above and beyond! They did a free diagnosis / stress test and they found that nothing was wrong with it. After that, they called me up and let me pick up my PC while guiding me and calming all my paranoia while answering all my questions about my pc.I’m not the best at writing reviews so long story short these people are the best you’ll ever get

Although it seemed a little pricey to get my computer repaired, the owner was very forthright and helpful. I would recommend you go see him. He did mention that if you have other old computers that you need data extracted, he could do that for you. There isnt great parking because its a small lot so I would recommend you parking on the side beside the tire shop.

They built a computer for me over a year ago. I purchased all the parts I wanted. Not only did they find a extremely small dent in a single pin which would have messed up the whole system, they mentioned one of the other products I purchased didnt have good longevitiy and recommended a different one. Computer has run excellent and runs games beautifully

Ive used them several times over the years, for a few PCs that stopped working, a PC that was really slow, a laptop whos battery suddenly started getting puffy, and also to upgrade the hard drive space on my laptop and a PC. Quick to respond by email, they give you accurate estimates for cost and how long the repair will take. Good front desk service. Decent prices. Ive saved so much money going here vs buying a new computer whenever an old one stops working or starts getting slow.Like taking your sick computer to the doctor lol

Man, I have gotten so used to big businesses ripping me off with my phones/computers, that I almost couldnt believe how chilled out and honest these guys are.I had hardware die in my desktop, but I didnt want to just replace it, I wanted an upgrade. The big company that built the computer was using high pressure sales tactics on me, hundreds of dollars and two weeks just to have someone look at it, parts were not going to be cheap, and they were not helpful at all when it came to picking new parts.I brought it into SD Bytes. At the counter, they pitched me on a rebuild, and said theyd look at the system for free. They ended up rebuilding and upgrading the whole thing around a few components. The price was very fair. Turnaround was less than a week. Theyre the real deal.

Brought in my desktop for tune-up and upgrade windows. Turns out my problems generated from failing power supply. 11 yr old computer. Shannon found me the part in a day and did all the upgrades. Everything works like a dream with no hiccups in programs or exterior devices. He was very good at keeping in touch with me and letting me know the extra day needed. Highly recommend! SD Bytes were able to recover 4k footage off a CFast card that I thought was unrecoverable. No computer would recognize the card after the footage was shot on a Blackmagic Ursa. They were able to get the 60 GigaByte file off the card. They saved me a professional reshoot.

Absolutely amazing experience! I used to pride myself in never having damaged a piece of tech with water, but hey, I guess it happens to everyone at one point or another. I had very little time to come up with a solution for my newly drench Macbook Air because I had grad school apps due in about a week. I contacted SD Bytes because I saw their raving reviews. Im happy to report that FYI ITS TRUE, THEYRE GREAT. Shannon was beyond graceful. He was communicative and kept me in the loop throughout the whole repair process. Going forward, this is the only repair shop I will ever use. Prices were reasonable, timing was extraordinary, and communication was ever present (what more can you ask for?).

After 3 days of trouble shooting my new rig, I decide to bring it into a computer repair shop. I had no idea what was going on. I looked at many computer repair shops from Frys, Best Buy, and others but their fees were outrages and the turn around time was 4 days or more. I found SD Bytes Computer Repair on Google. I called and the owner answer; his name is Shannon. Shannon is extremely helpful and has amazing customer service skills. Shannon figured out my problem and fixed my computer within a day. I highly recommend SD Bytes to everyone who has tech problems. SD Bytes has become my go to computer repair shop. In the future if I cant figure out a problem with my tech I will only go to SD Bytes. I was the first customer in at 9AM didn’t get my computer back until 5:45PM. I was the one who had to call back to even see if it was done. The guy on the phone said “oh we are just finishing with it, you can come get it”. 15 minutes before closing? What if I didn’t call? It would’ve been held over night?I nearly did the entire installation at home. I came in to make sure everything was good, to finish with the fans/lights. I thought they would do that and fix the cable management. Spoiler, they did nothing to fix the cable management other then stuffing it into the corners of the PC and they didn’t even plug everything in! The RBG lights weren’t plugged in at all. What did I pay for?Absolute joke that it took 8+ hours to plug in some fans and double check the connections and didn’t even do that right for $100.

These guys are the best. After I carelessly managed to spill tea all over the keyboard of my Surface Book 3, I was told by a big box repair service that my computer was a goner. I took one more chance, and took the computer to SD Bytes. Shannon was able to save the brain, and saved me from having to retrieve and/or re-create 2 1/2 years of work product. I’ve been looking for a legit computer repair place for a long time, and I am so happy that the search is over. Shannon the owner is polite, professional, and goes straight to work. We had a fried external drive that needed over 80 gigs of important data extracted, and his confidence and calmness about the issue really put us at ease. All files were retrieved within a day. Had to send all of our computers/laptops in to get updated and repaired. All were fixed and work great now, Shannon was super honest about pricing. FYI this shop is the only website that tells you his prices on the website. All the other websites had super up charges after we talked to them (even with the $25 off) SD Bytes was still cheaper. Fast, clean and honest.

Shannon went above and beyond our expectations trying to help my husband and I get into our Western Digital Passport. He also installed some software on our computer that we had previously lost. He wasn’t even charging us for the diagnosis or for installing the software. We insisted and gave him some cash. That was the least we could do for all the time he devoted while we were there waiting, during the time we left it with him for a few days and on the day we picked it up. Took my $1,300 desktop pc that I use for gaming and projects in for diagnostics on Monday after it refused to boot - they got it back to me the next day, working and cleaned up.Thats a turn around time of less than 24 hours. I call that impressive.Shannon, the owner is super friendly and easy going. His thorough inspection of my desktop revealed that my RAM sticks had gone out. Went to get my computer repaired after encountering crashes whenever the computer was plugged in. He found the problem after testing many things to narrow it down, and was very transparent in explaining that the issue could be fixed but that it would be prohibitively expensive. Since the issue couldn’t realistically be fixed, I was offered a full refund even though several hours of work were spent diagnosing the issue. The guys at this shop are honest, personable, and have a sense of integrity. And though they couldn’t fix my specific issue, I saw many happy customers walk out of their store while I was there and I learned more about how computers work to boot. Definitely worth the trip.

So back in September or October my daughter dropped my iPad and shattered my screen. I called around a bunch of places and SD Bytes was the best reasonable price, and the reviews were the best too. (the closest to me also a plus) they fixed my screen and sent me on my way. Let’s fast forward to February now, 4 months later, I am playing a game on the iPad and I realize that a part of my screen doesn’t work. I didn’t notice it because because I usually use the curser on my keyboard. So I called them and let them know what happened. Took it in and they said they will see what they can do. They let me know that they have a 30 day guarantee but the fact that my screen did this is not right and shouldn’t be doing this 4 months after so they are going to fix it without cost! I was unable to access the hard drive on my laptop after months of difficulties on my computer related to slow speed and erratic monitor operations. Over a 4-day period, SD Bytes tested my computer for hardware and software issues, and they concluded the problems related to corrupted files, which they fixed. Its still not perfect, but the computer is running a good deal faster than it was, and it responds to my commands more consistently than it did before I brought it in for repair. The charges were fair, and the technician who worked on my computer was knowledgeable and accountable.

My touchscreen was cracked on my laptop and Shannon helped me figure out the right part to get for replacement and was amazingly accommodating replace the part so I could get on a plane the next day with my laptop. Shannon, the owner of SD Bytes is skilled, talented, honest and ethical. I took my 4 year old MacBook to him having read his good Yelp reviews. My keyboard was sticky, and canned air and using Q-tips and alcohol didnt help. The rest of the device works flawlessly and I love it. He saved us both time and me money by researching and informing me that my MacBook keyboard (essentially the entire top assembly) was covered by Apple via a recall. He refused to charge me anything for his help, but we had a great conversation about his wonderful space which reflects his interest in industrial antiques. Hes a guy who makes the world better. Apple will have my work done in less than 48 hours. If I ever have a need that isnt covered by warranty or recall, SD Bytes and Shannon are the only place Ill go to. I cant recommend his place highly enough.

My research of where to take my Dell laptop paid off this was an excellent place.My top needed a new power button, they were upfront with me NO ADD-ONS!! No double talk. I built a PC a few days ago and was stumped when It didnt post/boot. I had no idea how to fix it so I looked all over for a place that worked on gaming PCs, saw the reviews for SD bytes and decided to take it in. They found the issue and and fixed it fast!! Shannon is the nicest guy! I had an issue with my Macbook and the Apple store quoted me $600 to fix, which is insane because I could buy a new laptop with that much money. Anyways, my friend recommended Shannon to me and he not only quoted me hundreds of dollars less, he had it fixed within a few days. In the past, when I had the Apple Store fix something, they had to ship it out and it took a while to get the computer back and one of the times, they had forgotten a part so I had to re-ship it to them and they had to re-ship it back to me. It was a bit of a nightmare, plus an expensive one. Shannon fixed it in 3 days and even did something to it to make it run faster. He also fixes iPhones and other brands of computers as well.Honestly, Im so relieved and cant believe he helped me so quickly. I was skeptical since he was so much cheaper than the Apple Store but he did a fantastic job. He does free diagnostics so its worth coming in for a free quote. Plus, his store is pretty cool so if you have kids with you, Im sure theyll enjoy the trip.

Shannon took my water damaged MacBook Pro apart piece by piece and cleaned and dried all of it. He was AMAZING. I genuinely thought that I would have to buy a whole new one, but Shannon brought it back to life! I highly recommend this place for your computer repair needs. I am new to San Diego and went off google reviews trying to find a place to have my computer fixed in a pinch. I was not dissappointed! Great service. My computer stopped booting up and I didnt want to go through the hassle of trying to figure out what was wrong. Was given a quote of $79 for a repair as long as all the hardware was good and nothing had to be replaced. It took a couple of days longer than I expected and it seemed that it was a harder repair to do than they expected but I received my computer back working great and the cost was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend using their services and I expect to be back again.

All I can say is wow! My computer wasnt working this morning during a work trip. I am presenting tonight and needed my laptop for the presentation. My laptop wouldnt turn on. I made it to SD Bytes around noon, explained the situation to Shannon and he took my laptop and said hed do what he could do but that it would take some time. Three hours later, he called me and said he was able to fix my laptop. Being relieved is a complete understatement. I was having trouble with my computer and I took it to SD Bytes Computer Repair. Shannon, the owner, was so helpful and didnt talk down to me because I know nothing about computers. He told me what he thought was wrong with it and I left it with him. He fixed it. So a few days later I dropped my Galaxy S7 phone and cracked the back, I took it to Shannon and he fixed it. Something was obstructing my MacBook charger cable from fully inserting into the port, so I couldnt charge my computer. There was no visible obstruction, so after compressed air didnt help, I resigned myself to having to spend an afternoon at the Genius Bar for help. On a whim, I stopped by SD Bytes on my way to the Apple store in Mission Valley, and the owner (Shannon) resolved the problem within just a few minutes. I am so relieved! Shannon is great. He repaired my iPhone screen which I had broke, that was right before I spilt water on my MacBook. Shannon was able to repair both of them. I didnt think my MacBook could be saved after the water hit it, it wouldnt turn on at all. Not sure how he did it but he did. The best!

I brought them a tablet that needed its charging port replaced. They told me that they would look at it and give me a call, and called to say that the repair would cost more than the tablet was worth, because the part was so expensive. They were good about calling me, although it was later than I expected, and had the tablet ready when I went to pick it up, but since then Ive been looking around and discovering that the part is only about $1.95 on Amazon. I may be misjudging, because I am not a hardware expert; maybe there was more wrong than I thought there was. Ive given it to a friend, who says he will resolder the charge port and get it back to me. If that works, Im probably going to take this review down a notch or two. Otherwise, they seem to be very professional.

Id like to take this opportunity to let folks know of a new neighbor in Allied Gardens who is skilled and caring when your computer breaks down and you need help. His name is Shannon Isselhardt, owner and operator of the SD Bytes, corner of Riverdale and Mission Gorge Rd., San Diego, CA. Recently, my Dell Inspiron became seriously corrupted as a result of Windows 10 involuntary updates. The entire startup button and Windows programs disappeared. The rest of the computer limped along but my operating system was defunct. I was given cost estimates of well over $100 to fix it if it was possible I opted to try SD Bytes after casually noticing their new business opening on Mission Gorge in my neighborhood. There Shannon Isselhardt carefully and caringly applied his skills and got my Dell back up and running. Windows 10 is still shot but my Dell seems to be performing better than ever with a new OS---at well below other estimates. I have found a reliable IT expert...someone I trust. He is someone you should know about.
