In the past, Ive muddled through computer repairs on my own with a lot of patience and limited knowledge. When the PC I use for my freelance business wouldnt boot up recently, I bit the bullet and brought it in to Mike. I really didnt want to replace the computer and reinstall everything, which would have been the less expensive option but a lot more headache. Mike was able to diagnose that the 11-year-old legacy motherboard and processor had failed, find an exact replacement, have it shipped out and get me back up and running within a week. Being down for a week was hard but the result was worth it. A few days later (of course) my other computer, the laptop, wouldnt boot up. The hard drive had begun to fail. I brought it to Mike who was able to repair the drive, clone it to a new solid state drive and have it back to me the following day running faster than ever. Im very cost-conscious. If I can manage a repair on my own, I usually do. But there are times when hiring an expert just makes more sense. Mikes repair prices are not bargain basement, but certainly fair for his extensive IT knowledge and kind customer service.

Theyre amazing! Highly reccomend! I spilled tea on my lap top and I thought it was ruined. I rushed it over to Magic Data recovery and they took my computer immediately and were able to dry it out and save it with no damage or data lost. They did an amazing job and were very kind and courteous.

I don’t go to anyone else when I’m having computer issues! Michael is the absolute best! I called him on a Saturday at noon because my batter was expanding and my computer was basically falling apart. I used their service and received 100% data recovery. That was the positive outcome I expected. For the most part, they completed the work in the time frame and in the manner in which they described it.Backup is always less expensive than cost of recovery. I was satisfied with their work and the drive is still operating - though I do not rely on it for storing my backups.I received a call from their Operations Manager as a follow up to my service, which I thought was a particularly nice touch in this age of email.I would definitely recommend this company to my friends!

Needed laptop repairs. Mike wrongly assured me it would be repaired and ready on Weds (I gave it to them Sat).Turns out I had to wait several days only to find they misdiagnosed the problem, and then said they had to replace the entire logic board for $734. I was assured it would be ready Friday, so I said okay. Friday came and Mike told me the part wasnt even recieved yet, and maybe Monday itd be ready.I told them to terminate all services and asked to pickup the laptop asap. Mike said they would not return laptop until it was put back together. I asked if I could retrieve it as is disassembled. Mike said no, against their policy. I asked to see their policy and he refused to show or give it.Mike was incredibly rude on the phone, interrupted me, wouldnt answer questions, told me to take notes, repeated himself, said I wasted their time and could not fathom why a customer would be frustrated to be wrongly assured of a repair time twice, with a misdiagnosis initially.I missed work deadlines and several work opportunities because of being mislead and the laptop being misdiagnosed.They claimed the screen itself was defective and then that the board was defective too. I never had issues with the screen and my model more often has power chip failures. They wanted me to pay for a new screen and board and repairs.I do not trust the screen was broken. I do not trust their ability to diagnose or repair.And they charge more than other companies for same services.

Life savers!! I had two external drive crash on me and they were able to see me right away and help me out. They were very helpful and thorough in explaining my options. They were able to salvage and repair one of the drives and move the data from the other one over to it. The repair was pretty quick and I havent had any issues since. Definitely recommend!

You can tell they are actually passionate about this, and I wouldnt hesitate to reach out to them again if I was ever in this situation (hopefully not).My G-Drive stopped working all of a sudden, and this was the first place I went. We tried different software recovery and waited a couple of days for the scanning to finish, but to realize that it didnt do diddly-squat. My external hard drive contained the only record of my professional life over the past many years, as well as every digital photo I ever took, which included our kids growing up and family pictures. I decided it was a good idea to have two back ups, but was completely distressed when it didnt work - I felt like my life was taken from me. I lost much sleep and eventually compartmentalized the situation - I just tried not to think about it. A couple of months later, a friend told me that there are companies that specialize in recovering hard drives. I started to search on-line and called Magic Data Recovery. I liked that there was hope at the end of conversation.The customer service was excellent. Matthew provided excellent assistance throughout the process, and it was a relief to be able to speak with a human throughout the process. He walked me through what was needed and answered all my questions.After talking with him, I decided to mail the hard drive directly to their clean room facility, as that is where it would ultimately arrive. After being sent a shipping label and having FedEx pack the hard drive in bubble wrap, I received notification the next day that the hard drive arrived, along with information about how I could keep abreast of the recovery. Within a week, the process was complete, and the new hard drive arrived safe and sound. It is now backed up to the cloud! I feel like I got my lifes history back. Very good job, one of my servers went down with thousands of client files on it that we had to have in order to keep our business up and running. This place is awesome! I am a wedding photographer, and had a crashed hard drive. I know....long story. Anyways, I received a fast quote, and in less than a week they had fully recovered all of my data. This was after I used a different company who only uses software recovery, which nearly fried my drive beyond recovery. I was prepared mentally for the drive to not be recovered, it had been dropped off of the desk, and even the best in the biz are not miracle workers and can’t make data appear like magic if it’s not there. Best Customer Experience EverFirst a bit of background: My laptop crashed on me last December, so I took it to Best Buy to get repaired. Geek Squad informed me all my personal data had been lost. Luckily, I have an external hard drive which once a year or so I would back up all my data to. I gave them the external hard drive, sad for the expense but hopeful I would recover everything. I then received the heart breaking update that not only had my laptop crashed, but in my neglect, my external hard drive had lost all its data as well. Ten years of photos, important documents, and research projects, all gone! Geek Squad said I could have them repair the external hard drive as well, but Best Buy sends those out to a place in Texas where it would take at least 3 months to get back and cost around $600-$1000 to repair.I decided to keep my broken external hard drive and find somewhere local to repair it. Thank goodness for Magic Data Recovery! Mike listened to my story and showed pure empathy (unlike the Best Buy employees who spoke in cold tones). Mike has found his passion in life and it shows in the quality of his work. Within a week I had all my data completely recovered, and for less money than what Best Buy has quoted me for!! He gave constant updates on what was going on (turns out a part in my drive needed replacing, so I had to wait a few extra days for the part to be sent for). Unfortunately this was also a proprietary drobo device so not quite as simple as your typical raid. Most recovery shops were quoting me $5,000 for 1.5TB of data!! Great service with a smile! My 10-yr old Mac refused to start after a recent lightning storm and I took it to Magic data for a quick diagnosis. The main disk had died and it was an older OS with a bit of a funky setup, so the recovery of the file structure was a bit tricky. Quick and reliable service! I had droped my WD drive from my desk onto the ground and it was nonresponsive. The Magic Data team was able to recover ALL of my data in a short amount of time. They were true live savers. They also were helpful in informing me that I actually had a warranty on my hard drive that was still valid. So they saved my data, and helped me to get my drive repaired for FREE from the original manucaturer. Now I have an extra redundant backup system. My 15 year old external hard drive crashed and wouldnt work- silly me did not back it up and my lifetime of photos and documents were all on there. Took it into a different shop that told me it was a hardware problem and not software so they couldnt help me. Found Magic data through yelp and brought in the drive. By the next day I received a text message from Lloyd stating exactly what was wrong with the drive and how much it would be for a clean room job needed with very precise tools to take the hard drive apart and it was all worth it when I was guaranteed 100% data recovery. Im so grateful to have found this place. My laptop hard-drive failed in early 2015 with over 4 years of photos that were VERY important to me and tons of music and rough draft work as well. My drive was in really bad shape, but later everything was magically recovered. Recently the hard-drive on our 3-year old MacBook Pro crashed. Unfortunately, we did not have it backed up properly and we thought we were going to lose it all. The Apple store recommended that we contact magic Data Recovery. We contacted these guys and he was able to recover everything! Mike is calm, responsive, quick and effective. We will never make the mistake of not backing up properly again, but if we do encounter hard drive issues in the future we will definitely call Magic Data Recovery.

Let me start by saying I’m a digital imaging technician (DIT) for films and commercials. I did nothing wrong, I charged it in the same way I had done on previous trips there, only this time, while it was plugged in, I suddenly smelled burning. A power surge literally fried my phone. The smell came from the adapter in the wall, now showing a bubble of melted plastic. The phones battery briefly showed only one thin red bar, then disappeared, and it never accepted a charge again, even after trying to charge with a new adapter and cable.I despaired, of course, because all of my photos from the previous few days were on there and not backed up, since I was in a remote place with no Wifi. After weeks with no phone, I took it to an Apple store, and within just a few moments of cursory analysis, they pronounced it dead. As in no hope, just buy a new phone. I am left with a feeling that they really tried their best to get my data back from my SD card, and they are friendly and have passion for what they do which I find really important.What I am a bit more unsatisfied with is that on the phone I was told it would be free if they could not retrieve the data from my SD card, then when I came in the shop they told me it would cost $45 for them to look at the SD card. Went in there today to get my drive fixed. Instead of us actually discussing the drive, he was carrying about looking up and praying and peace etc etc. We did not discuss my drive. I felt very uncomfortable. I returned home to realize I was powering my drive with a wrong cable. I called and told them to hold off. but they refused to reimburse my 95 dollars paid. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough.I had a RAID drive - containing four 1TB drives - that completely failed, and I genuinely thought Id never get the files back. It was an old, first generation Drobo - the software for which was no longer supported by the manufacturer. Two of the internal drives had developed problems without the device reporting them, but when a third drive failed (during a data rebuild) the whole thing just died.Id been told by other companies that it could cost anything from $2k to $18k to get the data back, which was more than I was willing to spend. These guys were suggested to me, their quote was much cheaper, and I let them take it on as a no data, no fee arrangement. I actually thought they wouldnt recover anything.But they were thorough and persistent - and even dealt with programmers from the manufacturer to get the job done.The process took a few weeks, but I was kept fully aware of what stage they were at throughout.

I spilled coffee on my laptop and I forgot to back my computer up for two months bc of school. I went to apple and told them I needed to recover my data. Apple recommended this place to me, I came in and got my diagnosis. I was given an honest opinion, I was told it would he way to expensive to recover the data due to the way apple designs there recent mac books. the harddrive is located up under the keyboard basically and its attached to it(exactly where the coffee spilled). I wasnt charged for diagnostics due to the shape of my laptop. if I did try to recover the data(which isnt completely possible) it would cost over $3000. I was informed it wouldnt be a 100% recovery due to where the coffee spilled. I am happy he was honest with me about my laptop and went out of his way to show me where the data was located and why it was damaged. Im upset about the mistake I made but Im happy I found a place who was open and honest with me about the shape of my laptop. I would recommend this place for computer needs to be honest.

A backup hard drive is only a backup until you delete the data (pictures) from your laptop.We now have another backup drive and my son was pulling data off the backup drive when the cat jumped on the table sending the drive to the floor. That was the end of the drive, it would no longer spin up. I searched the internet for a reliable and cheap data recovery company. I went to the manufactures(Seagate) web site to see who they recommended and discovered that Seagate bought a service facility and only recommended it. Western Digital recommended several sites and Magic Data offered a discount if you accessed their site through theml. They have not actually been open during their posted business hours, two of the three times I went to the location on Riverside drive and the manager Mike either has no authority or is just incompetent in a management position--nearly of my dealing have been with him. Went to take my girlfriends laptop to get fixed. She downloaded the wrong app at work, laptop stopped working and wont turn on. EVERYTHING worked before this. How are you telling people you fixed it but theres no audio or theres other overlooked issues. Will not be going back for, his safety.
