These guys are the real deal. Had to upgrade storage on my computer. Needed it back ASAP as my entire business runs from that computer. While Best Buy was quoting me 3-5 business days, these guys got it done in 4 hours. Incredible. Highly recommend.

Mhammad turned my laptop around with a fresh battery in less than 24 hours for wayyyy cheaper than other places were quoting me. And I appreciated his honesty in evaluating my broken space bar and letting me know it wouldnt be worth it due to the time it would take to replace it. He even taught me the proper way to clean my devices when I went to pick them up. Great experience -- Ill be back for my future Mac repair needs!

I took my broken computer to Dr. Chip to see if the wires could be solder from the battery to the mother board. Muhammed looked at it carefully and told me it would require some intricate work, something he does not do and it would probably cost between $100.00-$150.00 and there would be no guarantee it would work. The computer was only worth about $300.00 and I already bought a new one to replace the old one which still worked as long as it was plugged in. I really appreciated his honesty and professionalism. He cleaned my old computer keys and screen for nothing. Thank you.

I spilled coffee all over my Macbook and began calling local repair shops in a panic.As soon as I spoke with Mohamad, I knew everything would be ok.He spoke with a calm that reflected that a great knowledge base and many years of experience.Just based on the model and year of my laptop, the mechanism of damage and a few other questions, he was able to tell me realistically what my chances of successful repair and recovery were.The predictions were accurate, his work prompt and very neat.I ultimately elected to get a new laptop since I was due for an upgrade and sell the repaired one, and he was also able to seamlessly transition all of my old content to the new laptop.I highly recommend Mohamad’s business if you need your laptop repaired. Peter & Mohammed were excellent to work with. My old computer just wasnt quite operating the best - they did some updates, worked some magic, and it is so much better! I love Apple products, but sometimes the cost and longevity can be problematic. This was a great solution until it is time for a new machine! I would definitely suggest checking out their used inventory before dropping ALL of your money on something new.

Hammad took into consideration my needs, what I initially thought I wanted, and his expertise to help balance performance and price with how old my machine is. I gave it 2 stars because Dr. Chip is a nice man. The reason for a low rating is because I have brought my laptop to this shop multiple times within 3-4 month span and it seems to always be the battery. Not sure if I’m just getting strung along to see how much money I’ll pay, but it’s pretty frustrating considering I need my laptop for school and cannot rely on this. Really hoping I don’t have to do this again because he seems like a nice guy.

Best laptop repair hands down. Reassured me that he WILL fix my laptop and he did within 24 hours. Not gonna lie I was a little bit worried by how the place looked on the outside because when I pulled up, I was like, “This is it?” But when I came inside Dr. Chip greeted me with welcoming hospitality. I told him my problem with my laptop and he told me it was an easy fix. Gave me an estimate of how much it was gonna be after they fixed it and I was definitely satisfied because it was cheaper than if I took my laptop to an Apple store. He is very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist. We went off on a whole tangent about restaurants and food, I even forgot why I was there in the first place. Definitely telling my friends and family about this place. This is my number one for all of my laptop problems.

Great experience. We needed speakers on a MacBook replaced with a fast turnaround time as the laptop is used for work. I have taken my old 2013 iMac to his shop twice, both for having difficulty turning on or randomly turning off. The first time, he fixed it saying it was an easy fix, and offered a very cheap price for a RAM upgrade, which I took. The second time, he fixed it and also replaced my dying hard drive with a faster and reliable SSD. Both times, repairs were timely and he honored his over-the-phone quotes. Very friendly, timely, and professional. My computer works better than ever. Will use again for all my computer needs.

As a small business owner myself I am very hesitant to give a one star review as it can be devastating. I believe it is important to reach out to the owner before writing a negative review. In this case I believe the one star is completely warranted. I would like to warn others to not spend their money here.I was referred to this place from an acquaintance and was more than happy to support another small business. I purchased a used MacBook Pro for $999.00. I told him of my needs and he said this would be a great choice. I happily went on my way. A few days after my purchase my laptop was intermittently blacking out and completely turning off. I promptly brought it back in to be repaired or at least diagnosed. The owner had no desire to help me and actually seemed irritated. He fiddled with a few things and sent me on my way. The problem persisted and I called him again for help. He said there was nothing he could do. I was very confused as isn’t this also a place that does repairs??? Feeling extremely frustrated as I just basically dropped a grand, I reached out to Google and friends for a diagnosis. After basically dealing with the issue for a few months I decided to bring it back to see if I could receive a credit for a brand new one with a proper warranty. The owner said that would not be possible. I then proceeded to ask him if I could leave it there so he that he could have some time to properly diagnose. He wouldn’t even agree to that. Also during our conversation another customer came in and he started to take care of him. After a few minutes I then had to interrupt and ask him to please address me as I was here first. He was very rude and had no desire to help me whatsoever. Needless to say I am extremely frustrated and spent a lot of money on a computer that is completely worthless. If you are looking to support a small business with a hint of customer service and integrity DO NOT GO HERE!!!Signed, extremely frustrated and ripped off. :(

Dr. Chip was wonderful. I had a battery replaced in my Mac Pro laptop and it didnt work, so he helped me with putting in a new battery as soon as he could! He also was lovely to me when I was panicking about not having my computer and because of the inconvenience (which wasnt his fault) he put on a new cover for my laptop and it looks amazing! These folks have helped me in the past with some computer problems and done a great job at a reasonable price quickly. Recently I had a portable back-up hard drive that failed with about 1 TB of data and photos and Peter was able to recover everything on the drive. I then took in my new iMac desktop and had him set up the new computer and transfer all my data and photos. He then gave me a nice tutorial on the new machine and software and answered all my questions. I had a WONDERFUL experience with the guys at Dr. Chip. After spilling water on my Macbook, I scheduled an appointment with the Geek Squad at Best Buy. I had to wait 3 days to take it in, and when I got there they told me they were contractually not allowed to look at any Macs and I would need to pay $80 for them to ship it to Apple, just so they could see IF they could fix it (then pay for repair on top of that). I decided to look locally and am so glad I did. They offered two very reasonable prices for diagnosing - a lesser price if they were not able to fix it. They WERE able to fix it, and seemingly easily. :) I will definitely be back for future computer needs.

Dr. Chip Computer is very good. A couple years ago they replaced the bulging battery in my old macbook pro. They cleaned the interior and bent the case back into shape. It lives again, running cool and good as new! Many thanks to Mohammad and Peter at Dr. Chip for saving me a bundle of money! They gave me a great price on a new genuine Apple charger also.A couple months ago they saved me again. This time my hard drive quit working. Peter replaced it while I watched and had another great chat with Mohammad. I was back in business in an hour! Dr. Chip rocks the Mac world!

Dr. Chip computers is amazing! I personally worked with Peter and he took on my case no problem. I was so worried I would have to buy a new computer but he assured me he could fix it and he did! I have my computer back up and running flawlessly finally after multiple trips to the Apple store. Apple kept telling me nothing was wrong, it was just my ram and nothing could be done about it except buy a new computer. I brought my 2011 MacBook Pro for a new keyboard and the service was exceptional. They called me later that day to report on the battery which I asked them to look at as well. All the repairs were done in one day (where other stores were quoting 1 week wait times) and they cost exactly what I was quoted. Everything works amazing...like new!! I have had two occasion to interact with Dr. Chip Computer Sales and Repairs in regards to repairing my Mac. In both cases, once with Dr. Chip and once with his apprentice, and in both cases, I have not only been satisfied with the job done as well as the price for the work, but I have found the interaction most enjoyable and satisfying. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and is able to explain his work not only to your satisfaction but in so doing impart considerable knowledge to his clients and end users so they will go away with a better understanding beneath the hood of what we might otherwise consider a rather mysterious black box, which is great when everything is going well, but to which we feel so helpless when it malfunctions to which pressing the keys seems so useless. We normally become so flustered that we are willing throw our trust anyone as long as they can get it to held. That is not the feeling one gets with Dr. Chip or his apprentice. They seem to be able to speak in ordinary language rather than the confusing tech talk that seems intended to get you lost in their words that you are compel to simply thrown up your hands and just hope they are trustworthy. In contrast, I have on both occasions enjoy talking with another human being rather than a mechanist and seem to come away with a bit of understanding to help heal my frustration.About the only thing you will have trouble with is finding the place. It is not so much the shop is far away as it is simply a bit hard to find. I will try to clear that up now. Dr. Chips is located on Santa-Fe. Street between I-5, and the South Pacific RR tracks. It is not Morena Blvd., which is on the east side of the RR tracks. 1) Starting on Garnet Ave, turn north onto Mission Bay Dr. (turn left if coming from the beach) or (turn right if coming down the hill on Balboa Ave. 2) After turning onto Mission Bay Dr, take an immediate bear right onto Damon Ave. (you need to make that turn, otherwise you will head straight onto I-5. 3) On Damon you will pass the (In-N-Out Burger) on your left, continue under the I-5 under-pass to the dead end. 5) At the dead end, turn left onto Santa-Fe Street and continue for about 1/4 of a mile and you will find Dr. Chip Computer Sales & Repair on your left.Once you find it, you will be duly rewarded for your journey.

There was no rushing, time was taken to help me figure out what to purchase. I got everything I needed and then some. Best purchase I’ve made in years. If you need a Mac (Fair Priced) upgrades in your memory/updates and other capacities to fit your need, this is definitely the place to go! If you are a musician/audio and visual design and want to get a good price for your Mac this is the place to go! Dr Chip repaired water damage to my 2011 MacBook Pro and a registry and memory allocation error on a 2008 IMac. Both times the price was relatively cheap and stated up front. The repairs were done quickly and professionally. And the staff actually explained how to do several things myself and save money rather than charging me extra. I also tried to pay them a second time in cash because I forgot and Mohamed gave the money back. So highly reputable and ethical. Dr Chip also sells used Macs at very reasonable prices with some very nice extras. If you dont need the newest Mac and are looking to save money than Dr Chip is the place. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Was shopping online for a new computer and saw an ad for this business. They had great refurbished computers for sale at great prices so I drove down from Escondido to their shop in San Diego to check it out. I got a diagnosis on my computer quickly and a very reasonable price on the repair. I got a tour of the other computers for sale and it didn’t feel like I was being pushed into buying anything. I could tell they enjoy what they do and want the customers to get what they need and want! I will always come to them for my computer problems and if I am shopping for a refurbished computer at a great price!

I went into Dr. Chip after having significant liquid damage to my computer. I had taken the computer first to Apple and they said it would cost $999 flat fee for liquid damage which essentially is the price of a new computer. I thought I was out of luck but looked at the reviews of Dr.Chip and thought Id give computer repair a shot, given my computer was still in good condition minus the liquid damage. Mohamad and crew were very knowledgable and friendly helping answer all of my questions and understanding that I did not want to pay more that what the computer was worth for fixing. Four days later I picked up my fixed computer at a reasonable price. I am very happy to have a fixed computer and for the stress-free experience I had at Dr. Chip. These guys are great. Might be one of the last places to actually diagnose and try to fix computers. My MacBook Air just went blank one day so I took it to the Apple Store and they plugged it in, said it was fried, and offered to sell me a new one. Dr Chip took it, kept it over night, and diagnosed it the next morning. Fixed logic board, replaced SSD and installed new OS for $325. My computer works better now then when I got it. Thanks, boys.

I brought my macbook pro in to Dr. Chip and Peter was the one that helped me. Unfortunately, they were not able to repair the issue, but Peter was communicative and honest with me the entire time! Originally we had thought it was a hardware issue and when discovered that it was more internal than that, he suggested going through the technician they had that would be able to look at the computer more internally. There is an initial fee just for the technician to look into the computer and then if they are able to repair it they charge the rest. Peter called me and was honest that he didnt think the technician would be able to repair it and I appreciated the truth instead of them just taking the money! He suggested I go through apple once everything is opened back up and offered other solutions they could provide in the case that the computer cant be fixed. If I ever have any other problems with a computer Ill definitely be returning! Great customer service, communication, and honesty! Glad to know that there are reliable companies that dont try to scam you just because you dont know the technical terms! Thank you dr chip!

My Mac would start and then freeze.. They diagnosed my computer in front of me for free. Then they gave me advice and alternative choices to fix it with inexpensive options as well. I ended up getting a solid state hard drive replacement for my old malfunctioning hard drive and now my laptop starts and runs faster then before. New hardware is priced from $50-150 and repairs can be about $100.

Mohamad replaced the HDD drive on my Dell laptop with a new SSD drive and got it up-and-running with a new Windows 10 installation. It was done same-day at a fair cost. I was certain my Macbook pro late 2013 had seem its better days. It wouldnt boot and the track pad was messing up prior to that. It was slow and sluggish. I called him on Sunday 5/20/2019. He made a repair date the next day! I had my computer back in a couple of hours and a new and proper OEM charger. He is insanely reason reasonable on his prices. Hes honest. Peter made a house call the same day as my call for help. He collected the failed desktop, diagnosed its problem and called me within three hours with the good news. I went to these guys to get a SSD drive and found these two (two guys were in the office). Let me tell you, I have been doing IT as a consultant and now as a IT Director for going on 20 years and these guys taught me some things. The guys at Dr. Chip were fast to diagnose the problem with my laptop. Although it was not problem that could be fixed (even Lenovo couldnt do it), they charged me a very reasonable amount to try to install a replacement piece. Once it was clear that the problem couldnt be fixed, they grabbed the hard-drive to allow me to transfer my data to the cloud.

I was very skeptical trusting these people at first. When I took the risk, I bought a labtop that worked perfectly at the store. When I brought it home however the charger didnt always work and it was a brand new charger.When I called the owner, he agreed to meet me at the shop on his day off while the shop was closed and let me swap out for another labtop that was the same price and free of additional charge. I am so glad I found these guys!! They changed the battery on my MacBook Air in 15 minutes!! That’s phenomenally better than the 3-5 days estimated by CryWolf. They also tuned up my Mac and downloaded a fan regulator to keep it cooler, all for $50 less than CryWolf wanted to charge me for just the battery. They even threw in a printer connector cord, that was too old for me to find online, at NO CHARGE. They give absolutely great and quick service at a reasonable price. These guys are the real deal 😊.

Someone forgot to removed the remote management from my macbook pro when I bought it 5 years ago (not from Dr. Chip). I called them in a panic after I tried to wipe and reinstall MAC OS on my macbook. When I went to log in after I did the install, my computer was locked to remote management.I called Dr. Chip and took it in same day, within 1 hour I had my computer back working and new OS installed with no issues! I bought a MAC book charger and they sold me the wrong plug in adapter the connects to my cube. My computer won’t turn on unless I tamper with the cube a couple of time. I didn’t even realize it was the wrong adapter because it was working just fine when I bought it. Until my IT guys told me that they sold you a bunk charger.
