Heading to Joshua Tree and decided to stop off and grab a bite, when the cool Zen sign caught my eye.We had 2 sushi rolls that were pretty good. Philly and Tournament style.Beef short ribs were juicy and fatty on a bed of white onions. No spice this time! But there was plenty on the menu.Fries noodles were decent. With beef.Ill def stop by again to this cute little family owned restaurant if I come through. Will be back!

Welcoming family restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious. Red and yellow Currys were some of the best in the greater Palm Springs area. We will be returning to try more dishes in their menu.

I am divided when I review this place. 1st the service is great, the waiters are attentive and cheerful. They managed a near full house when I was there. The food proportions are strange. For example, I ordered a penang beef, but I had a bowl full of onions. My partner ordered a curry, and she got a bowl full of roughly chopped green peppers. The vegetables were fresh, the spices and flavor was delicious, however the ingredients proportions were too much towards garnish. Perhaps less garnish, or smaller portions.In fairness, I highly recommend the green papaya salad, as the dressing was sweet, not too fishy and the green papaya was fresh. Highly delicious.If the restaurant eliminates 30% of the menu and puts a little more balance into the garnish level, food would be perfect.

So good, so fresh. Humble but great atmosphere. Salmon was lovely.Update: 4/5/24 went here for lunch because Papaya Bay has closed down, apparently. Then I remembered this place. Got the delicious Pad Thai with jasmine green tea. Service and atmosphere were lovely.

While the service and ambiance was quite nice and hardly anyone was in the restaurant the food actually made us sick, I remember this place being really good but this time I dont think Ill be back. The food isnt fresh anymore and the ingredients arent what they used.The coconut milk in the soup wasnt good and made my mom throw up and really upset my stomach and the beef in the other dish definitely wasnt fresh

Like just about every other business in California this one is suffering from being short staffed. However the one Server was trying her hardest and for the most part she did a good job. I was a little disappointed in the udon noodles as they were undercooked and the broth didn’t have a lot of flavor to it. The spicy tuna roll sushi somewhat made up for it. If I’m ever in the area again I would give them another try

Choose this location due to its high amount of reviews. Upon arrival was a little hard to find the location. Couple spots up front for parking 20ish spots for parking in the back. Was seated immediately not much customer until we were leaving. Food was made fresh to order of course. Ordered a Thai tea was great my date had a Peach tea which was great no complaints. Appetizer was delicious. As well as the food all brought out in a timely manner. Wont mind coming back here at all. For the price it was all excellent. 10/10 great experience!

If you want homestyle, good Thai food this is the spot for you! When walking in it looks and feels like a house. They are being very COVID aware so masks are required until sitting down. They have you order your food at the front and then choose the seat that you feel most comfortable in. The drinks were brought out right away and we waited about 15 minutes for our food. Everything came to the table in to-go containers with disposal plates and silverware. This is the first place Ive seen do this and let me tell you it was appreciated in the environment we are in. All the food was delicious. We ordered veggie spring rolls, pad Thai, green curry, garlic and ginger chicken and Thai coffee. The servers and owners were very attentive and polite. Great service and great food!

There was a piece of plastic/glass in my food. I had even put in my mouth. Looked like they didnt take my complain seriously. They just said sorry it was a crack from the box it was stored. And that was it.Anyway the server was nice and it was a quiet nice place. I would recommend people to be extra careful about the food from this restaurant.

Came to this place 7 years ago and I thought the food was good but was not that impressed so I didnt go back after. Well 7 years later I decided to stop by and was amazed. Good food, decent prices and really friendly staff make this little place a hidden gem. Everything was delicious and I like the fact that its japanese and thai food, two favorite foods. So for appetizer I start of with some sushi and for the main dish some thai. Highly recommend this place to everyone.

The reason that this is one of the most loved restaurants in Banning is that the food is consistently delicious. Almost every entree can be converted to vegan or vegetarian styles. Their tofu is firm and beautifully cooked and their vegetables are crisp. For carnivores (like all of my family 😀), the meat dishes are crowd pleasers. There is something tasty for everyone.

Long time since Ive written a review... this place brought me back in. First time at Zen, and Ive gotta say: The Thai + Sushi is a one-two knockout.We had the Rock N Roll, the Rainbow roll (always a first time staple), Pad Thai, and the Pad See Ew. All of it delicious. And the place itself is a fusion of quaint, homely atmosphere with an Asian vibe. Really felt welcome, great service, fantastic combination of Eastern styles (Japanese and Thai). Heading East to Palm Springs? Stop here on the way and have a nice meal. Five Stars.

Amazing service and food! Our server was great, we are vegetarian and she made sure our food was made accordingly. She was very attentive to all the tables. The Thai food is one of the best food in the area! The dinning area in the front is a bit small and minor adjustments would make it look better. Highly recommend trying this place out.

If youre in the area highly recommend this wonderful restaurant. Theres a young lady that works there on Tuesday Saturday and Sunday. This used to be one of our top 5 places to eat, but the last time we ate here was a little over a year ago, we moved out of state for 3 years, and now Im back. Their menu has changed and my favorite items were removed. The food was just okay but nowhere near as good as it used to be. They also parted ways with some if the old staff, including a cook, who was phenomenal. lacking my old favorites and a having a new cook I wont go back anytime soon. My wife still loves the rolls, which I dont like so I cannot comment on those.

Wonderful place! Easy to miss when driving by, but definitely worth the effort. Whenever driving home on long trips I always make it a point to stop here to eat. Incredibly friendly staff, consistently great service. Their menu has a good array of foods, all of which are delicious and at an affordable price too. Service sucks now. We arrived at 12:25pm. They had 3 groups of people eating, less than 10, when we arrived. The hostess/waitress asked if we were eating there and she said there was a wait. “Ok, how long is the wait?” I asked. “Oh, I don’t know, most of the people just sat down.”You should train your front end staff to anticipate the wait time for your customers so they’re not arbitrarily waiting.This used to be our favorite place to eat when it first started but it’s going to the pits now.

My visit was a huge disappointment. Startung with the service or lackthereof. We had to order at the register before sitting down and asked for a tip even before we had any service. I refused to tip. After ordering, we were seated in a very small area confined to one space. Water and condiments were self serve. Wine was limited to two choices and not very good. Had to walk through the kitchen to get to the dilapidated restroom. I did leave an 8% tip cash on table before leaving. Will not return until service and place is more appealing and customer service improves.

Which is always a little pricey in my opinion but when you were able to dine in they had put it in a much larger container and got a lot more for what she paid for, when delivered Or taking out they now put the seafood combo in this small tray which I cant even say is half of what they used to give when dining in, its a little taller and wider than the size of a childrens cup . I one hundred percent dont think thats a tray they put it in is worth $20. Maybe 10 and thats only because it comes with a decently size rice. Again, food is great ! Just made an order for delivery. The food I ordered for my wife an kids was pretty good but my order was completely wrong. I ordered Drunken Noodles with Shrimp, green onion an bell pepper only. Instead my order had tons of big slices of regular onion, without a single green onion in sight an spinach I believe which I never even asked for an egg which I also didnt ask for. I said BELL PEPPER AN GREEN ONION ONLY! They even read the order back to me perfectly an then proceeded to make it how ever they felt like once they hung up with me. This was clearly on purpose because we were one of, if not the last order of the night for delivery. They get 3 stars for the food still being edible however this is the last time I ever order from them again for delivery. If your not there in person to make sure they do it right dont even bother. I feel like I wasted 47 bucks. No excuse for this. Very disappointed.

On business trip, ate there twice. Might be the best Massaman Curry with chicken Ive had... and I have very high expectations for that dish. Both times tasted exactly the same! Which is very rare, and not easy to do with that exact dish. Plus their venue is awesome. You walk in the door, and you feel like your at home. This place is a hidden gem. My partner and I are vegans. We loved the Kung Pao dish! They have great vegan/vegetarian options. The veggie egg rolls are actually vegan too. They even modified the Thai iced tea to make it vegan for us.Everything was fresh and flavorful. We have eaten Thai food from all across the state and this spot is among our favorites. We love spicy food and felt the 3 was perfect. They seem more authentic than most places weve been where we order 6 or 8.The esthetic is cute, old school, but very clean. Place is great! I had Chicken Rangoons for appetizers which were delicious. I had Crying Tiger Beef which comes in heat level from 1 to 5 with 5 being the hottest! Beware! That level of heat is not for the weak! But it was outstanding and flavorful. I also had Crispy Basil Chicken which was also amazing! Take out times are prompt and staff is really nice. I love this place. If you are driving through, pull off the freeway between 8th and 22nd Street and dont miss this little hidden treasure. The sushi is fresh. The prices are reasonable. My favorite is always the Salmon Sashimi. and side salad. My husband gets the Pad See Ew. Never a disappointment. A hidden gem in a small town of Banning. A large contingent of our family was in town for a funeral and that same day was the birthday of a relative. A relative who ate here once suggested this place and 34 members of our extended family stormed the place and crowded the restaurant and filled it with noise. As the food started coming in everyone got louder to tell the servers which table to put the food on. To cut the story short, everyone said the food was really good that the total bill for that lunch was about $1,100.00 including tax and gratuity. After eating everything, all members of our extended family have big smile in their faces as well as the owner and servers. I ordered the usual and it was really good.

I went there yesterday and ordered Thai food, no flavor whatsoever, pineapple in the fried rice was already going bad, I got the runs today.Crispy basil chicken and Kung Pao, same deal, no flavor, wont be going back.Go to Papaya Bay Thai, way better.

They food is hit or miss. The sushi is good. They recently raised their prices making it almost not worth going anymore. The atmosphere is nice and the servers are too. Its not the best place in town.

Terrible place to come to and definitely not zen environment. We were sitting for about 5 minutes and we heard the waitress being very rude to the other customers who were ordering and took their drinks away and told them to leave so we got up and left too.

I was surprised to find tonkatsu here in Banning. The food was great, miso soup was great(normally restaurants fail at miso). Service was okay, but the waitress served my food before brothers was ready, which is kind of bad but otherwise it was really awesome. Will go again for sure.

I ordered the choose three for 15$ I picked the salmon teriyaki – yuck, tuna sashimi – good, albacore sashimi – putred!! I’m sure the albacore was the culprit. I did have a delicious milk melon tea. But no amount of wonderful tea gets them off the hook for giving me tourista because they do not care enough about the customers to serve fresh fish. There is nothing ZEN about sitting on the toilet for two hours.Visited April 2017
