Came for dinner before seeing an amazing Glasper Jazz show. Server was Sophia and she was wonderful. Attentive and full of great suggestions. The first two drinks we ordered were TERRIBLE. It wasn’t a proper balance in the least so left them on the side & ordered the Summer Snow sake bottle which was delicious. Faves were duck spring roll, A’s and Monkey sushi roll. The beef skewers were very chewy. The dining area is open and a great place to people watch. Bathrooms are clean. The entertainment space for the show was perfect. Nice to see many people dressed for a show. Wonderful atmosphere & experience.

I had the Brussels sprouts, edamame, and the banana nana na!!!! Everything was good, but what I didn’t like was when I paid with cash the waiter decided to keep the loose change even though they take a 18% gratuity! So I don’t have no problem with them having the change I have a problem with them not getting permission. So I advise you all pay with a card if you don’t like getting cheated out of your money!!!!

Tried the Kazuo Omakase w Dragon roll, Rainbow roll, Alaskan Roll, Ribeye, and Black cod. Rolls were tight, but on the larger side. Rice tasted slightly sweet, likely sugar added. Ribeye cooked to taste, chopped, and sauced over broccollini. Due to timing, it came out luke warm and likely wasnt rested long enough before sliced. Black cod was tender, cooked in miso sauce. I wish it was marinated longer. The table next to us had a large tempura dish, which Id be tempted to try next time. Overall, solid food, good service, lovely restaurant.

3/10/24The Togarashi Kurobota Pork Chop was a delicious Entreé! Service as usual was excellent!3/8/23The latest menu (50th Anniversary) includes many Vegan items and options. I tried a new Item on the Menu, Ume Hotate & Pork Belly, Wow!The Gindara is another item not to be missed!All the food is outstanding in presentation and flavor!6/21/21The restaurant is open again!!! We waited so long to have their delicious food again and it was worth the wait! Only wish the wait wasnt 15 months!Great choices on the menu for everyone. My friend and I decided to have dinner here prior to a music event at their venue. The service was great, they were very friendly, welcoming, and detailed about the menu. They arranged our seats for the musical event while we had dinner so we didnt have to worry about waiting in line to get good seats however its such an intimate venue that all the seats are really good seats. We didnt have a lot of time but the waiter ensured that our food came out quickly so we had time to eat before the event. The tempura was so fresh and delicious especially the prawns. Im not a big sushi eater, but it too was fresh and delicious. My only feedback is that the table was too small to accommodate the multiple plates of food that we ordered. It was a tight fit but overall a wonderful experience.

We ordered The snow crab roll and the shrimp fritters. We were told our salmon would be torched and it came out pink. The fritters and creme Brule and coffee were all outstanding. But our skewers were underdone as well and we had to send them back. Drinks were not the best. It may be time to revisit their drink and take notes from some of the trendier bars around town.Service and atmosphere are great. Our waiter Alex was really nice.

Come for the music, get there early to eat. Good (not great) sushi and other Japanese fare. Good assorted sakis. But then (with tickets) listen to awesome music. This is the Blue Note of the West... Great sounds system, musicians that are phenoms, in a small, intimate venue.

The mashed potatoes infused with shishito peppers was a revelation. I have literally never had anything like it. The lobster sushi roll was also tremendous. The flavor on the chicken thigh was muted, but it was paired with the mashed potatoes, so that was okay. The duck confit spring rolls fell flat, but the Kobe beef carpaccio was really good.Robin, our server was excellent, and the venue for the show was perfect. The ambiance and acoustics were amazing. I will be back soon.

I cant recommend my dish of teriyaki bowl, no meat. There were giant chunks of carrots and broccoli with barely any sauce. My friend sent back her cold fries, and 45 min later, still no food. But the staff treated us well. The show was awesome, but unless you come in a group, you end up sitting with strangers. They always get great talent.

This is a classy place. Make sure to have reservations, especially since most folks come to eat then watch a show. I had some incredible scallops and took in a show on the weekend. It was amazing and loud! Only major downside is that its right next to the train so there is intermittent very loud noise.

When I say accommodated ? We received immaculate service from beginning to end where we dined in for dinner with a large party of 11, then on to the live band performance in the next room. Despite purchasing last minute show tickets adding extra guests to our group, they were able to ensure we sat together for dining and even provided decent seating in the music venue. The food was beautiful, sushi was colorful, and the vibe was very very classy. My only critique is the drinks were a bit overpriced $17 for the average cocktail that were pretty ordinary, but the overall experience is a must.

Their restaurant is in the same building as the parking garage, super convenient. They also validate but up to x hours, then you’d be responsible for what they don’t cover. Food, entertainment, staff: excellent! Highly recommend for a date night.

What a cute, local spot! I appreciate the vibe, it’s upscale but not pretentious. The servers are nice, good comes out quick and the menu is decent. As a vegetarian, they had a decent selection (could do better in the sushi space). Also, definitely go when there is live music. Good place for groups and special celebrations.

Yoshis has been around forever as far as Im concerned... I was introduced to Yoshis as a Jazz Venue. I didnt know they hold all sorts of other shows as well. Its a great venue to come see a show. Cozy, with good views and a decent sound system and some very good performances...Just dont eat over here! While its nice to see the food is finally getting better, its far from good. At least its not as abysmal as it used to be. There are sooo many better options in the surrounding area, especially at the same price points. The drinks are pretty good though.#Adulting:~ zamani mojito - 4/5 - toki japanese whiskey, pineapple juice, lemonA solid creative Mojito, it does taste different, but in a good way.~ state of zen - 4/5 - roku japanese gin, lemon, cucumber, shiso leafA refreshing Gin Cocktail. Light & satisfying.Bites~ Japonese - 3/5A mediocre Sushi Roll. You can get something comparable at Safeway...I kid you not.~ DUCK CONFIT SPRING ROLL - 3/5Just a crispy fried roll. The name, the presentation and the description sound much better. Its OK, not bad, definitely edible, but nothing to brag about.Do yourself a favor, go eat elsewhere and come in a bit early for a drink or two then go enjoy the show. There was a bit of a line to check in for our reservation, which was at 7:30, but once we were at the front of the line we were seated and served promptly. The cocktails are great. The vegetarian sushi is average: they have a veggie roll and an avocado roll. At around 9 or so a line started forming for the 9:30 show. We got in line around 9:20 and were at our reserved seats just in time for the show. Gordon Goodwins Big Phat Band was incredible.

First time visiting Yoshis. Went to see Eric Benet. Theres a parking garage on the side of the restaurant; very convenient and wasnt full upon our arrival. We had reserved seats which allowed us to be seated a hour before the event. Although it was not necessary for us to purchase, we did place orders for drinks and sushi. Both were great! Eric sang at least 8 songs 🎵 The whole experience was well worth the price.

It is unfortunate that a well known restaurant becomes complacent and refrains from simple service standards. We were sat at a table that was obviously not cleaned properly, along with food stains there was a long hair on the table, when brought to our server’s attention his initial response before apologizing was “it’s not mine, mine is tied back”, he looked quite worked up and tired to be fair, poor guy was sweating as he was working many tables probably more than his capacity. The bus boy who filled up our water glasses poured a glass worth on the table and didn’t even bother to wipe it dry, when the server brought the dessert menu he didn’t pay any attention and dropped it right over the puddle! The food was acceptable overall, the only reason we went there. Will think twice though before visiting again if in the area.

Scallops with pork belly and plum sauce delicious, also had steak that was cooked perfectly and actually weighed smothered with a sweet sauce that excites your taste buds instantly..Also seen the Raul Midon and it was a treat. Yoshi’s, located within the Jack London Square waterfront district in Oakland CA, is the place to go watch and get wowed by the most amazing musicians. I had the pleasure of watching Spyro Gyra. I’ve been a fan for a very long time. We had the Kazuo Omakase and the togarashi kurobuta pork chop. Yummmmm!!! The place was packed and there was a long line of diners who were patiently waiting to be seated. The staff were so attentive and would check on us while making sure that everyone else was having a great time. The delicious food, their loyal patrons, their “must-see” shows, and amazing service … unbelievable experience … priceless ❤️By the way, don’t forget to bring your loop. I brought and used mine to help focus on how amazing Spyro Gyra entertained us with a number of classic hits from their albums … good times 😍

The menu is great but not excited by the execution and the products, considering the price (sill good overall and very fresh) The huge room is also super noisy (the waiter had to shout), and dont expect any intimacy when your table is just one foot from your neighbors.The jazz club is really nice, great ambiance. Seating seems good everywhere, even behind (raised level). One caveat, though: when coming as a couple, you may share the same small table with another couple, dont aim for any intimacy, and consider reserving your table ahead.

Yoshi the restaurant is nice; its intimate, a little dark and a little sexy. Its a nice e place for date night if you like that kind of food. We ordered 3 appetizers and the bill came to $53. One appetizer was 5 shrimp. The shrimp were only ok. If it was not for the nice ambience and live music, I would never return. Its nice to experience once or for a concert.Now the seating inside for the concert was HORRIBLE unless youre small and short. I have included a picture of my knees hitting the chair in front of me. The tables was so small, there is no way 4 people can eat at one time. Probably wont be back, just uncomfortable.Angie Stone put on a nice ONE hour show for $59... per person. 3 stars because the restaurant and the show were both nice.

Had a great night at Yoshi’s and left my prescription sunglasses sitting on my table. Called the next day and was told they were very busy and would call me back. Two hours later I was called back- so they had my first and last name and phone number. They confirmed that they had my sunglasses and I said I would be out of town for work and when I returned I would come pick them up. ONE WEEK LATER I arrived to pick up my $600 PRESCRIPTION sunglasses and was told by the MANAGER that they were thrown away. They were just taking up too much space and even though they had my NAME AND PHONE number, they just didn’t have time to call and warn me. He did say how very sorry he was though. Amazing service! Thanks a ton dude for all of your help. I have never in my life experienced such horrible service before and am shocked that they would literally just throw away someone eyeglasses after they were specifically told that I was out of town and would be returning for them. Never again will I take my service to a place that cares so little about customer service.

The Tokyo omakase is a lot of food. Dont order more than that for four. Its seriously enough. The fish quality was pretty decent. It was empty at 5:30pm but popping by 6:30pm. Arrive early for seats. Overall food was good, the place was busy so service was a bit slow. Looks like they were short staffed and our server was pulled into the show. Someones else took over and just left us the check without offering us dessert but I wouldnt discount the place for a one off, especially given the difficulties with staffing these days.

Of course we always have dinner first at Yoshi’s before going to the concert. The food were always delicious! I ordered the Ume Hotate & Pork belly pan seared scallops, roasted shishito peppers, umeboshi plum sauce, it was the best!! Kudos to the Chef! Of course, our Server Alex was Excellent, very pleasant, very attentive and had our food ready before the concert! We will be back! I highly recommend. Thank you.

He was wearing a mask couldnt even hear him and then got annoyed because we said Im sorry I cant hear you. I mean they shouldnt have people wearing masks as servers. The main function of the job is to communicate with customers ! And we shouldnt be treated badly because we arent able to hear him.

This has to do with buying tickets for a Venue at Yoshis. I have tried going on 4 years to get a Refund for a show that kept getting Cancelled at Yoshis in 2021. I bought tickets to see the Fifth Dimension in May of 2021 and it was cancelled because of COVID. I requested a Refund after a year because when I tried to get a Refund thru my Credit card they would not Refund because Yoshis said wait they show may get Rescheduled . I waited another year and during that time every 6 months I tried to get Refund and same thing happened, Yoshis said show would be Rescheduled. I now am into my 3 rd year and I try to call Yoshis and they take no Voicemail or have a number to talk to someone. I am truly disappointed that Yoshis keeps peoples money for a show that never happened. Terrible customer Service, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE... I hope that it makes them feel very good to steal money from me. It comes to $208.94 and that is a lot to me. So PLEASE watch out for when you buy tickets from Yoshis and a show is Cancelled... YOU MAY NEVER GET YOUR MONEY BACK LIKE ME!

The Bar area is nice but I prefer chairs with backs. The atmosphere is nice. They automatically charge a tip and they have a $25 minimum which would be fine if they offered more selections. Be prepared to be squashed together at a table or both if you attend the show. The drinks are just ok. Beer is better. Best wine you can only get in a bottle. They are not amenable to the consumer when it comes to getting your money. Some folks dont mind but I do.

The decor was modern and aesthetically pleasing. It matched the vibe of the performance, actually. Mellow, smooth and intimate. I saw Raquel Jetés show. Idk what to say... The food is experiencing major issues. The fresh ginger is aweful, soaked and pickled in what I can only describe as formaldehyde. The Pepsi, dont bother. Had the weirdest medicine taste. The food overall is shockingly bad in terms of freshness that its hard to image that there is an actual restaurant...as it feels like someone is running to Safeway and buying stale food and serving it. Presentation is great, but drill down and you will find many many foods with no flavor, stale, or downright inedible.

The last time I was here it was for Lalah Hathaway which was absolutely amazing! My friend and I sat on the right side of the audience. I feel like all of the seating has a pretty good view of the stage, but the chairs are very tight. As someone whos on the larger side of life, its definitely something I think about when Im going to go see a performance. Still. I would recommend this location for seeing any shows and for dinner. The Kobe beef skewers were SO GOOD, and the maki and nigiri that we tried were all delicious. Drinks are pricey here.Because we dined in the restaurant before the show, we also got a reserved space in the night club at a booth. I give my review 4 stars because the space at the night club was uncomfortable to see the stage- we were essentially faced a full 90 degrees from the stage so we had to crane our necks to see the performance. There are low-quality projections of the stage around the club to mitigate this, but the video quality was not great so it felt wrong to watch the screen instead of the stage.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but the experience we had last night was honestly not acceptable for the price. I made my husband and I a reservation at 7pm. No one mentioned to me that they were closing at 8pm and everyone had to be out by then. We ordered the sushi/main combo where we ordered two rolls, some nigiri and a main. The lobster in the sushi was so tough I almost choked. The fish was dry and lacked any flavor. The appetizer we ordered, the duck spring rolls, was actually gross. They then asked that we pay the bill before we even finished our food because they were “closing”. Dessert was also average. My bill was nearly $200 for two people, we were rushed out and the food was honestly bad. I’ve had several friends come here and say it’s amazing. I was really disappointed. Our server was very kind, so I still tipped him, but I will likely never eat here again. I would not recommend it at all.

I always have mixed emotions about shows at Yoshis. On the one hand I love the intimate setting it provides. The lighting is sexy and the room is certainly not too small. One the other hand, the sound system, I feel, is usually a little off. The vocalist can tend to be muffled by the music do as not to be able to make out the lyrics. Last night with Dwele was no exception to those statements. As far as service is concerned, the bottle I ordered, before everyone was even seated, didnt come out til 1/3 of the way thru the musical set and that was after everyone elses single drinks were served. That was disappointing. However, as Yoshis tends to bring the type of acts conducive to a romantic evening out, I will continue to partake in their ambience. THERE IS A ONE ITEM MINIMUM, EVEN IF YOU EAT IN THE RESTAURANT.

Went to see Jon-B, and Ive been here many times before...saw Scarface, The Pharcyde, and DJ Quik. Every time Ive gone, it was pretty cool.I like the crowd being diverse, and the service being on point and thorough. Food is tasty and drinks are great.the sound and the atmosphere feels good at the place too.

Hands down the best jazz lounge in the Bay Area. Go early for your show and get a bite; theyll reserve a table in the theater for you if you do. They have excellent shishito peppers, highly recommend the Kobe beef skewers, and if youre into sushi; its amazingly fresh there. For rolls: geisha and snow monkey would be my top recommendations. Finally, be bold and try the plum wine. It pairs well with the spicy rolls and peppers.

I met an old friend here and we had a great dinner and enjoyed seeing Tortilla Soup.I am a 60+ year old women and my friend left as she was picked up.I was waiting for my husband to pick me up but the door staff made me go wait outside by myself because I’m not with the band.I told him I was concerned for my safety and my husband should be here by 9:10.Thankfully it is not completely dark.I was going to come back for the Spinner’s and The Sylistics but unfortunately since Yoshi’s staff isn’t concerned with their patrons safety. I will NOT be back.

I love Yoshis and I go there several times a year! However, last night I noticed a few things that Im going to share in this review in hopes that what I perceived as a small decline In the overall Yoshis experience will be corrected.First off, the food is always excellent and the wait staff is attentive without being intrusive. A small, but important detail last night was that it seemed to be impossible to get serving spoons for items that were delivered family style, to be shared amongst the diners.We also accumulated a large number of dirty dishes on our table and had to ask for them to be removed by grabbing one of the best people as he went by.These are small details, but Yoshis is really an upscale restaurant and should be paying attention.The other thing that was really egregious, was the state of the womens bathroom: The toilets were disgusting - theres really no other word for it. They either arent flushing properly or people are filling them up and not making sure they get flushed before they leave the stall. There was also used toilet paper on the floor and not just a little bit. There are three sinks, and the middle one wasnt working. The counter was a swamp of water, making it difficult to wash ones hands without getting wet across the front of their clothing - this is not new issue at Yoshis either. I used the restroom twice and it was in this condition both times. On both occasions, I had to choose a different stall after looking into the first one. Even the second ones had used toilet paper on the floor. Its a stomach churner and really what precipitated this review.The worst of COVID is over, the restaurant was not super crowded on a Sunday night, there really was no excuse for the less than wait service or nor the deplorable condition of the bathroom - both were related to the same thing: a lack of attention to the details.Again, it wont keep me from returning, I love the food and I love the shows, but these were significant detractions from experience and dropped the stars to three.

I visited Yoshis for a Yussef Dayes concert yesterday. My friend and I shared a bottle of tobiroku saké to pregame - they have a great sake collection at the bar. The concert setting was intimate and the sound quality simply couldnt be better. Everyone gets a seat in the concert hall and the food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend getting the potato/sweet potato fries with extra dip. We ordered the veggie tempura, chicken karage for mains and banana-na-na for dessert - they were yummy and flavorful. Im definitely going back!

Went for the live music, arrived early and had dinner, excellent service, got seated right away and had big portions of food. I had the miso soup, Ceasar salad and calamari. Good thing I had a light lunch. Finished off with a smooth bottle of Beringer cabernet and took it in to the concert with us. Seating reserved when dining in. Yea.

Paid $125 for concert tickets for two, only to be forced to buy an additional $20 worth of terrible drinks, plus an 18% mandatory service charge. I had the pork chop for dinner. It was sooooo tender, juicy 🤤 and flavorful!The sweet potato puree was AMAZING!!!! It was a beautiful smear of purple but so tasty they really should give you more. 😋The show was GREAT! I love that if you make reservations to eat you get priority seating for the concert😁🤗👏🙌

Went to see Dwele 9/23/2023 at the 9:30pm show. The music overpowered his voice and you could not hear him. The engineer on the controls did not fix it until the last song. I was very disappointed because thats not the first time Ive been to Yoshis and experienced bad quality with their System. A waste of time and money. Not against the artist that performed but the venues equipment.
