I went for a cavity filling which they did about 3. The first one went relatively well. The other two my teeth looked jagged. My filling between my two premolars is just ugly. They shaved off the side of my tooth and food always gets stuck in between because the gap is so big and it isnt smooth. My tooth frays my floss from how weird it is shaped. The second filling they did back in 2023 broke off about two months later after flossing. I tried making an appointment to fix it 4 times. Twice they cancelled. Once, they told me I had an appointment for a completely different day on a random weekday. And the fifth time I called their answering service, honestly has nothing to do with their front office. The woman answering the call service kept pushing me to make a cleaning appointment and to fix my filling separately. She was so pushy to lock me in for a cleaning. it was the weirdest thing. I finally just interrupted her and said my tooth hurts like can I just get what I called for. LIKE WOMAN MY FILLING HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR 4 MONTHS. I am never going here again. This is the filling that isnt broken, by the way. Its just ugly.Update:The tooth that is shown that isnt the broken filling also broke today after I flossed. I am waiting for my new job insurance to start in September so I can go somewhere else to fix this.

I was assigned this dentist because of where I live, but I will never make the mistake of going here again. I had an appointment and arrived on the day and correct time, but the office was closed. I didn’t receive a voicemail or email informing me. I had to call the main office to get any information and they were able to fit me in for the next day. When I arrived, the receptionist and reception manager were very unprofessional with their communication and claimed they had tried to notify me of the cancellation the day prior.I waited for over an hour and finally got my x-rays done. Then, waited another 45 min to be looked at by the dentist. As I was sitting in the chair, I noticed how dingy the equipment looked and the dirt in the corners of the room. It was NOT clean. There were hardly any other patients around, but they seemed to be very short staffed. Not only that, but the hygienist only comes on Saturdays. I wouldn’t be able to have a teeth cleaning for a month and a half. ***I highly advise anyone new in town to avoid this place and find somewhere else.

If a 0-star option would have been there I would have opted for that. Such unprofessional behavior. I am a new patient and they kept me waiting like hell. I went for 2.30 pm appointment but the doctor came to see me at 4.30. They dont have value for others time. They suggested a few things including deep cleaning. I asked what the charges for deep cleaning only for which they didnt have any answer and suggested that I have to take teeth mold and then can proceed with the cleaning. Without the mold, I cant do the deep cleaning. Such a horrible experience for the first time there. They quoted me around 1046$ for the deep cleaning stuff(after my insurance). Not at all Recommended.

The worst dentist i’ve ever been to. Had an extraction scheduled, they have me sign all the paperwork. after everything is signed i’m informed that there’s a mandatory part of the surgery not covered by insurance and because i’ve already signed I owe $300 if I cancel. even though the dentist told me this after signing. this decision was made the day of the appointment and without my consent. completely unethical and I will be reporting this to the dental board and other necessary parties. the manager does a horrible job given the fact that so many errors with scheduling have happened and that they scam low income folks. People only come here because they have to, it’s never a choice.

Wish I had seen the bad reviews before going. They are absolutely the worst. They advertise that they have an oral surgeon, but they do not. False advertising. I only came because I was in need of an oral surgeon. Confirmed over phone when I made appointment. They canceled first appointment a half hour beforehard. Rescheduled. was told by receptionist that oral surgeon comes once a month. I was desperate and in pain so I saw the dentist. Long story short they couldnt do anything for me and it was a complete waste of time. They would not even make me an appointment to see the surgeon. Had an appointment, waited an hour, took time off work all because I thought they had a oral surgeon. They do not. I suggest they remove that service from their list as its false advertising. Its illegal to claim to offer a service you cant perform, especially a medical one, and you are wasting peoples time who are desperate for help.

I regularly wait up to 2 hours in the waiting room for my scheduled appointments. They just called me to reschedule my next appointment (tomorrow) for 5 months in the future. This is the worst dental office I’ve ever been a patient at. If there were any providers covered by my insurance, I would not go here. I’m currently considering paying out of pocket just to see any other dentist.

I have had a great experience. My dentist was a real professional with a relaxing manners. The people who work there are very pleasant and calm. Western Dental in Goleta CA has a great crew and I recommend them for anyone who suffers from dental phobia.

There are only two workers here that are helpful and kind. The rest are completely incompetent. They are not thorough, their communication amongst everyone is severely lacking, scheduling is a nightmare. Needs to be investigated for fraud once again.

They rescheduled me twice and then called two days before my appointment saying that they will need to reschedule me again, and that they can’t see me until August (5 months out). When I attempted to call back I was routed to a call center that said the office was closed on Monday and Tuesday with no explanation why. The person at the call center could not tell me why my appointment was cancelled.

This office is so incompetent. The front desk never puts notes in system for appt. Changes. They are so slow i front and back. So disappointed in this office. I drove 3 hours for appt. That they did not update the file with my appt. That they changed. The front desk does help they seem to be lost looking at screen to lookup appts. Every time i have had to come to them they never on time. The worst dental experience i have ever had. DO NOT COME TO GOLETA OFFICE!!

I am DISGUSTED with how this office is conducted. I scheduled an appointment and they called me day of to inform me they had to reschedule. I go in on the day of my new appointment only to find out they have to reschedule me again, all the way out to APRIL!! No care for their patients, no regard for well being, apparently horribly disorganized.

An absolutely horrible experience every time. I’ve been here a couple times and each time it’s been bad, i just had the expectation that it would improve over time but my most recent visit has got to be my last. it’s actually crazy how bad the service is. the dentist is lazy, doesn’t do her job, and spends the majority of the time just chatting with other people working there rather than actually doing her job. I had appointment at 11, I got there on time and I sat in the lobby for THREE HOURS. I didn’t get called in until 2:30. that is absolutely RIDICULOUS. The receptionist was no help at all either. I don’t understand how they’re still in business with this type of service. A father had to go in the back asking for the dentist for her to come out, do her job, and actually help his daughter after they’d been waiting for so long. wouldn’t it be simpler for you to just do your appointments as scheduled????? And who is letting you goof around with the rest of the staff instead of doing your job????? I am so serious DO NOT GO HERE !!

DON’T GO TO THIS PLACE!! I don’t usually write reviews but this place deserves 0 stars especially for new patients. I waited over 2 hours the first time with the receptionist telling me you’re next for over an hour then I walked out and told them to cancel my appointment. 6 months later I get a text reminder saying I have an appointment the next day which I never scheduled so honestly don’t bother with this place it’s a scam.

Do not come to this place, they are the worst in town! They take hours to take you in even with an appointment. Dentist or Orthodontist is all the same. They change your appointments or cancel them. No one seems to care for the patients. Make yourself a favor and search for a better option. Even if you have to pay a little more it will be worth it!Update, they are still the worst. I cant get to speak to someone in the office. They dont answer the phone and that is because they are busy calling patients to reschedule or to let them know they are overbooked and patients have to wait longer than usual. Please, please go elsewhere.

Do not go here. I was overdue for a cleaning and had some pain in a specific tooth. I told them about this pain and the fact that I grind my teeth at night. They told me the tooth with pain wasn’t “bad enough yet” to do anything about it. They then proceeded to tell me I had FIVE other cavities and made me go multiple times (they were very late every time) and pay a ridiculous amount of money. My pain continued to get worse, radiating throughout the entire right side of my mouth. They also never even acknowledged my teeth grinding after asking them about it multiple times.Additionally, the tech and dentist were quite unprofessional. They often goofed around together while there were tools actively in my mouth. It definitely made me feel like an afterthought and seemed as if they weren’t truly paying attention to what they were doing.I have heard many similar horror stories of people being told they need work done at high prices on a payment plan but were told their teeth were perfectly healthy when seeking a second opinion. I absolutely will not be going back.

The staff and doctors here are really great. Warm and professional. Sometimes the appointments times get a little behind but not too bad. I hesitated coming here at first because of other reviews but now after three visits for fillings, I’m super happy to be a client. Dr Charlton has won dentistry awards and managed various other practices and businesses and chooses to be a western dental and keep serving the community. Really friendly staff at the moment and no pain after my cavity fillings!! They also do orthodontics. With my covered California plan things were super affordable. I saved hundreds compared to other places.

This place is terrible. I attempted to schedule an appointment with them 3 times for dental pain Ive been having and they cancelled the first two appointments on extremely late notice. On the 3rd appointment, the receptionist called me and told me I was only scheduled for a cleaning and I wouldnt be able to receive the services I had requested regarding my pain. When I told her I never asked to be scheduled for a cleaning, she told me I would have to reschedule once again for my pain. I decided to just go in and get the cleaning and talk to the dr in person, so I went and was ignored by the receptionist until I approached her. She then proceeded to tell me that I couldnt be seen at all because the doctor had gone on his lunch break and didnt come back like he was supposed to. Thats a direct quote from her. Ill never set foot in this raggedy establishment again and I genuinely would like to warn anyone who considering doing so. You will only have your time wasted and youll be spoken to disrespectfully.

I made an appointment last week for a cleaning. They cancelled 10 minutes before. I rescheduled for the next day, they cancelled a few hours before. I did the same thing 3 other times and they just cancelled my 5th appointment in one week. Is this a joke? It must be a joke. Don’t waste your time with this place.

This place is amazing. The staff here are very experienced and did a wonderful job with my baby tooth extraction for a permanent implant, and my baby tooth put up quite the fight!😂 Im getting my wisdom teeth removed so Id have to go down to Ventura Western dental, but I highly recommend this place. The whole place is very clean and they were the sweetest to me, always asking when I felt pain and making sure the procedure went very smoothly to achieve the next steps in my implant surgery. Their equipment is very modern and they gave me a full tour of my teeth, explaining literally everything! Awesome dentistry! Thank you!

Whenever I call the office during its open hours, I receive poor assistance from the receptionists who always have a bad attitude. This location is also unorganized. I had to reschedule my appointments several times due to their faultiness. And when I showed up to my new appointment, they said there was no rescheduling. Absolutely a nightmare dealing with this company. Had a dental emergency and scheduled a call with corporate. I get to the location and it’s closed. Called corporate back and they made an appointment with the Oxnard location. Asked them to call the Oxnard location to ensure they were open. After waiting, they told us they were open. Got stuck in traffic on the way there, so called to let them know we’d be late. The office informed us they don’t take appointments this late and the doctor has already left. Im sure customer service did call to ensure they were open, but they didn’t have the wherewithal to actually make the appointment. What is wrong with you? If a company can’t even handle the basics of customer service, I highly doubt they can provide quality dental work. Don’t even justify with a response because there’s nothing else to be said.

Sometimes in life its better to be lucky than good. I must say, Im the luckiest man in the world. The Western Dental in Goleta CA has a staff second to none. They honestly took a personal interest as me as a person, and after three months of professional dental care I have my smile back. My smile was taken away from me in an accident that was not by my doing. That day when my smile my joyful happiness was robbed a huge part of me died. However, today thanks to Western Dental of Goleta I have been reborn. I looked into the mirror and smiled, and then water works of joyful tears.People will do what they think and want to do, but this office rocks. If your smile is missing and part of you are missing, you now know where to go.

The customer service is awful they do need training i also had made appointments for myself and my children to find out theres miscommunication through their system one person says one thing another says another total chaos. One booked appointments while the other one said in the office there was no appointments when i had just booked them minutes before. I was also told that i needed i.d. and cencal card to be able to attend this appointments. I have pictures in my phone of this identifications and they have tooken pictures to identify the patients so this caused me not to be able to attend the appointments due to not having the cards in hand. It also threw me off because it seemed like there wasnt appointments Ive never experienced this and it makes no difference to have our own pictures of our i.d. cards or cencal cards on our phones. For this awful experience i am no longer bringing my family here also in oxnard they also lack on being respectful to customers and children. Both places have lost giving professional services. Its not hard giving customer service ive done it myself for many years i dont understand why people lack on this service when this is the main reason why they have a job and are being paid for it. People are very ungreatful unfortunately. There was one guy i spoke to and he was nice and patient he was the one who made the appointments but i dont know his name i am greatful for him for being professional he had so much patience during the entire phone call he answered all my questions i had. It was a bit of a long phone call from what i thought.

Cheaper than most for orthodontist, nice friendly staff…My appointment was at 2 o’clock and I didn’t get in till 250. I felt anxious and impatient. I’ve always had this thing about if you have an appointment you should be able to get in within 15 to 20 minutes of your scheduled appointment. Well that didn’t happen today. However whenI did get in the staff were nice and apologetic and the dentist is very personable, kind and a tentativeBut one of the bigger reasons why I came to them is because I had been quoted $10,000 for the exact same services by another dentist here in town and was able to receive the service the same service through Western dental for 3000. That’s a huge difference. One of the things I’ve learned from this experience is even if you need dental work shop around And I might add I think the orthodontic service that I’m now receiving from them with the plastic trays is now even less than what it originally cost me. I think it’s a good bang for your buck most definitely I would recommend it

If I could give negative stars, I would.I had been going to a dentist in Santa Barbara for years, and when they retired, I sought someone new. I chose to See Me Smile for its low prices, or so I thought. I was told on my first visit that I had one cavity, came in to have them dealt with, and suddenly within the same week, I had five cavities?! I had never had a cavity before going to this business. I questioned them on this, and they kept telling me that it was true - I had five cavities. I had them do their work, which cost me over 1k, and required me to use their payment plan because I didnt have the money to fork over at the time. PSA, this payment plan will show up as taking out a new line of credit! All of this work was unnecessary. They fooled me into thinking I had these cavities and needed work done. They also tried to get me to have additional work done after this visit. I havent been back since. I chose to go to another dentist, and believe it or not - still havent had a real cavity!TLDR; dont go here unless you want to have unnecessary work done and a credit line opened.

Front desk person and manager are horrible! They are always trying to rip you off and they are absolutely not helpful. Make sure to double check all the bills with your insurance. I think they are just charging you randomly...Those two ladies need to be replaced!Im trying to get a refund for a procedure they did not do. Its been 2 months. I stopped by the front desk 3 times and everytime I was told Ill let the manager know. Youll get the refund on your credit card in a couple of weeks. I think that the manager is deaf or something.But then the dentist and assistants are very nice! Thumbs up for them.Also, do not try to go there on a Tuesday. There are actually closed and it doesnt say it anywhere.Edit: so then they reply to your review asking for your contact information so they can address your problem and nothing happens... You guys are a joke !

Worst customer service experience Ive ever had. They canceled/rescheduled my appointment that I had for 6 weeks without giving me any notice. I showed up to the office just to find out that it was closed and will be closed for weeks (I have no idea why). Ive had my braces for almost 2 and a half years when I was only supposed to have them for 18 months (granted Covid did push things back a little). All I had left to do was get my impressions for retainers and get my braces off, which they have pushed back by months now for absolutely no reason. I filed multiple complaints with the company that were never acknowledged. Whenever I call, I get sent on a wild goose chase and get no help at all. They are unprofessional, negligent, and just plain disrespectful. They have no care, concern, or regard for their patients. They wont get back to me about my complaints but will surely call me to let me know I have a payment due. I deeply regret ever coming in contact with Western Dental. Truly the worst experience of my life.

Absolutely horrible, and extremely rude staff. Very slow processing time. I requested my x-rays to be sent to my new dentist, it has been two weeks since the request, I have had to cancel my appointment twice, because the x-rays were never sent over. The dentist that I am going to has sent 3 fax messages over, and have been ignored. I decided to call to try to expedite this, and was put on hold for 2 hours, by a very rude and sassy worker... The manager allowed me to be on hold for 2 hours, and never bothered to speak to me. When I have had work done here previously, it was very painful, and uncomfortable, which I thought was normal. But now my new dentist said that is not normal, and during that procedure I was not supposed to feel that much pain, or any pain really... Please don’t put yourself in that position, and choose a better dentist!

I am not sure what happened to my previous review, but am posting again in hopes of being contacted by someone who can finally help me.I have been trying for almost a year now to obtain an itemized invoice for services I have paid for with Western Dental. In April of 2021 I was told I would receive the invoice by mail in 45 days. When it never arrived, I went to my local office to ask what was up. They sent a message to corporate, but it still never came. I have called corporate, but they continue to give me the run around, offering excuses like that it never arrived because I failed to follow up with my local office (even though I did). I need the invoice because I paid for the services with a health FSA account, which has been frozen thanks to Western Dentals failure to send me an invoice so I could verify transactions. My health FSA also wants me to repay the amount because it has not been verified, which is ridiculous because I would essentially be paying for the same services TWICE. I have asked to speak to a manager or supervisor who can email me my invoice as they have done in the past and been refused. This past weekend my son needed oral surgery (we had it done elsewhere) and had to pay out of pocket because we couldnt use our health FSA. I explained all of this to customer services and was told the best they could do was supposedly try to send me an invoice again, but that it would yet again take another 45 days. We will lose access to our FSA funds from last year at the end of April.Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received at any establishment, ever. We switched our dental plan from HMO to PPO just to avoid this place. Do not go here.

They made us make an appointment on a Wednesday as they do not check insurance on Saturdays.Turns out the lady that helped us did not inform us that the dentist we made the appointment with does not work with the company for 2 years, and have to take a new appointment with a new doctor and wait until next month.Never had a bad experience with a dentists office before.Also the free exam and x-ray do not apply if u have an insurance (but do not get seen do to their bad appointment service)

The dentists and assistants are actually very good; however, their administration sucks! Communication between site and corporate is abysmal. Cancellations AND EVEN scheduled appointments are treated with no respect to the customer—- often I would drive 10 miles to my appointment only to be told that “yeah—- we can’t do that today”—- I mean could you have called me? I got admit when I saw all the negative comments and reviews on here I almost canceled my appointment. I had never been there before and I had suffered a cracked tooth this morning. I called and got an appointment right away despite being a new patient. I was worried that they were going to tell me I needed a bunch of procedures other than what I went in for. Turns out that was not the truth and I was treated incredibly kind. The doctor was young and very good at what he does. He managed to save my tooth without having to get a crown he simply was able to fix it with a filling. I was amazed and I had zero pain whatsoever. I have extreme anxiety and going to the dentist is extremely difficult for me and I had such a good experience that I decided I will go back to get further cleanings and anything else I need in the future. Definitely Glad that this happened. My tooth actually looks better now than it did before. He ended up replacing the silver filling and put in a new one that is the same color as my tooth. I look like I got a new tooth in the back of my mouth! Seriously did not expect this day to go this well. I absolutely despise going to Dentist but not anymore.

Dr. Scott and his staff were absolutely amazing also the beautiful woman that works in the financial department really tries to do her very best to get you help with payments etc. Dr. Scott told me in detail every time he was going to do a procedure and what tool he was using to make me feel so comfortable he also made sure I was completely numb because he knows my fear of dentists thanks to him and his staff I no longer have to have that fear. Dr. Scott and his whole team is the perfect match I highly recommend them. They are great and extremely professional the facility is very clean people wait outside until they’re called which I really liked seeing a doctors office so sanitized and safe if I could give them 100% I absolutely would and I definitely will be going to see them every six months. I said sure and showed up at 2:50 to do my paperwork so I’d be ready for them. I turned in my stuff at 3:07 and proceeded to sit in the waiting room until 4:30. Why ask someone to come in an HOUR EARLY if you are still going to see them at their original appointment time? I didn’t even get the cleaning I had originally scheduled for because they needed to do a general exam first and because it was so late in the day they couldn’t fit the cleaning in. Seriously do yourself a favor and spend 5 extra minutes looking for a different dentist. Also, all the negative reviews I’ve see on here get an auto “please follow this link to fill out a survey” response. Please please please take my advice and just don’t even bother going in the first place.

I waited for nearly two hours for a simple cleaning only to be told that the hygienist called in sick that morning, meaning I waited all that time to not even have my afternoon appointment completed. I cant comprehend why I was not notified before or even at the beginning of my appointment and why it took two hours to figure out they couldnt complete my cleaning even after interacting with multiple staff and being seated. I completely understand staff calling in sick, but it is unacceptable to waste my entire afternoon for such an incompetent mistake. To add insult to injury, I was sprayed multiple times over my body with water by the dentist during my pre-cleaning exam and had to get paper towels to clean myself up. Unfortunately this was not my first exceptionally poor experience at this location. The first and only other time Ive been in, it took 1.5 hrs to complete my simple cleaning, but I figured I would give them the benefit of the doubt before leaving a review. Under no circumstance would I recommend this dental practice. It has been demonstrated multiple times that they do not care about or even show basic respect for their patients.

I recommend you stay far away from this type of 7-11, in & out dentist office. My experience from start to finish was bad and just got worse. I went in with a back molar broken in half with the root exposed and in excruciating pain. They told me I would need to take a week of antibiotics before they could do anything and just to take the antibiotic and after 3 or 4 days I would be in less pain. I made an appointment to have the tooth extracted and they gave me a late in the afternoon appointment. After one week on antibiotics and having not been able to eat any solid food and still in horrific pain I called to see if I could get in earlier the day of my appointment but they had no record of mine in their computer. Fine. Just make me a new appointment please, which the manager did for 9am. I went in at 9am and the manager Alondra who had made me the appointment now said AGAIN there was no record of the appointment. I told her that she was who had made the appointment for me and she told me that she had never heard of me or my name or situation before after I had talked to her in person and on the phone a few times. I had not been treated so rudely and unhelpful and as if she wasnt willing to take one moment of her time or lift a finger to help me even though I was in pain and crying by that point. I ended up waiting over 2 hours before I was taken back. I wont even go into everything else but in the end it was just a terrible experience. The place looks clean upon walking in but when you take a second look there was hair all over the floor everywhere. I dont know how it all got there and the only explanation could be that they dont clean very often. The chair they had me in for my extraction, I was looking up at a bunch of spider webs hanging down from the ceiling above me The place was NOT clean. And lastly, here I am over a week after the extraction I am still having extreme pain and I dont know if it is from an ongoing infection, from the traumatic way the tooth was taken out or damage done during the procedure. Now I have to pay to go to another dentist to have it re-checked. I will never patronize that flim flam so-called dentist office ever again. Terrible.

Western Dental has failed to provide me with an itemized invoice for services I paid for for over a year now, despite telling me over a year ago that I would receive it in the mail within 45 days after my request. I requested the invoice in April of 2021 and it is now March of 2022. I have called corporate multiple times as well as visited the local office in Goleta in person to ask for help, but the local office tells me to call corporate and corporate tells me to follow up with the local office. If I lose access to those funds I will be speaking to my lawyer to seek restitution.Do not go here.Update (04/19):A couple weeks ago they sent me a statement of my OWN past debit card transactions of payments made by… me. That is NOT what I asked for. I requested an itemized INVOICE, meaning a detailed list of the services I received and paid for and what each service cost. I haven’t had an appointment since February. I’ve called multiple times letting them know that 3 brackets have fallen off leaving me with a wire stabbing my cheek every day. They are unorganized and unprofessional, their techs don’t take the correct precautions during Covid, and they’re billing may very well ve a scam. I am writing this entire review while being on hold for a refund because I was grossly over charged because they didn’t use my insurance and I didn’t catch it til after I paid. I am upgrading my insurance so that I don’t have to come here anymore. Here is a list of all my experiences.I went in for an X-Ray, and the person helping me was using the computer without gloves, then put gloves on, continued to use the computer, and then put their hands in my mouth. We then moved rooms because of a technical difficulty, to a room that had just been occupied and had not been disinfected yet (I could see the room from where I was sitting. They did the same thing with the other computer, gloves off, touch computer, gloves on, touch computer, hands in my mouth. So germs from two computers that had not been wiped down, and they seat that had justwere put into my mouth. This was all during COVID.I came in one day for an appointment, waited 20 min in the lobby, and then had someone come out and tell me and two other people who had waited even longer than me that we would all have to come back another day because they were doing a root canal on another patient. I don’t understand why they would schedule all these things for a day if they wouldn’t be able to fulfill them all.I was also over charged for a different appointment because they didn’t apply my insurance. After I paid, I noticed on the bill that my insurance wasn’t on there. I asked them to fix it and the person I was speaking with got irritated and gave me attitude saying it wouldn’t change the price. They ran it through and it took $500 off the bill. They then told me it was my fault that I didn’t tell them. After that, for 3 weeks afterwards, I kept getting collection calls for the same appointment that I had been over charged for. I told them I would pay as soon as the refund came trough because I had already paid once and couldn’t afford to pay twice. They said my refund would come in 3 weeks. They continued to call me two or three times a week afterwards and I had to continue to explain that I had already paid, and MORE than they were trying to bill me, because they had messed up and over charged me. It has been 3 weeks, I still have not gotten my refund ($600+!!!) but I have paid for other appointments since. Every time I call to get a refund, I am on hold indefinitely and no one picks up after an hour + of being on hold, but I still get collection calls. I try to speak to the collections people about my refund but they say their department can’t handle that. I get transferred, I’m on hold again. I finally spoke to Giovanni in Customer service, (Who was, honestly, very helpful and understanding) 3 weeks afterwards, and he told me not only had the refund never been processed, but the account actually showed that I had been overcharged and had a $600 credit that they just hadn’t issued to me, but were continuing to bill me for following appointments. At this point it feels like a scam.I have shared my concerns with other dentists in the area and they have ALL urged me to go elsewhere as Western Dental is known for giving this level of service. I kid you not, one office referred to them as “the McDonald’s of Dentists.”Just a reminder, I wrote this whole thing while being on hold with the office.

I hate this dental place. They are horrible. Horrible with customer services, my husband set up an appointment online the night before and then I follow it up the following day. The lady I spoke with screaming at me on the phone. Just because I don’t like to miss work day, my daughter and I used their services on a Saturday for just a regular cleaning. The services were very unsatisfaction after the dental hygienist cleaned my teeth I was given a cup of water to rinse and said I was done it was quick and dirty job, no flush. I went home and brushed and flossed and spit out some residual plaque and tarter in between my teeth.It’s even worse and frustrating even though we have insurance coverage, they keep on calling that we owed money; my husband went and paid for it. Later, we received additional bill different amount than what my husband has already paid. I will never recommend nor go back in this place anymore. Everyone in the office that I came across was very nice. Terrible service. Their calls go through a call center in another country. The call center is not able to make all appointments. I have an emergency, my tooth is infected and I’m in terrible pain, but I’m unable to get through to the office. Every time I call and get the call center, the call takes forever. I hated putting this one star review, but only because Dr. KIM and the girls at the reception desk were the only people here who actually treated me as an individual. (So you three ignore this, doesnt pertain to you :) I had many appts, for each of them I waited in the chair for close to 45 min. The travelling periodontist whos name Ive forgotten, had horrendous bedside manner, and berated me for letting her know I wasnt completely numb yet, telling me I needed to deal with it or she wouldnt continue. Seriously, avoid this place. I wanted to avoid the UCSB dentist office as I’m a graduate student and went here since they took my insurance. The x-rays and evaluation took up over 2 hours, and then I was told that I could come back in an hour (??) for the cleaning—this was after I was being sold a bunch of bogus gingivitis nonsense. They said it would need to be a special cleaning to deal with my almost-gingivitis, so I asked for a cost breakdown. They said it shouldn’t be much since I have insurance—and I asked again for an actual breakdown. Once I got it, this special cleaning came to around $450 after a meager insurance payout. I told them I’d schedule the cleaning another time and bolted after paying for the services I’d already allowed them to complete.Talked with my parents who asked their dentist, and he had never learned about or heard about the stuff they were peddling before, ever. Absolute BS.OH also—the documents you sign as a new patient include an agreement to go into mediation for any malpractice and **waive your right to sue.*** This is NOT normal or common practice and was my first bad gut feeling that I ignored—don’t ignore yours!

Often times I would arrive for my appointment and not get to see the dentist. I also had great difficulty trying to get my medical records sent to my new dentist.Once I had an appointment when the office opened and had to leave after an hour of waiting because I had to go to work. I dont know how there was such a wait immediately after opening.Once the office was so backlogged when I got there that they couldnt complete my cleaning after getting my xrays. So I essentially had to do half my appointment then and the second half of my appointment later.Once I made the mistake of making an appointment on Saturday and ended waiting a very long time. I was told that the specialists, which I assume means oral surgeons, orthodontists, etc, are scheduled on Saturdays and the office staff told me that there are always to many appointments on Saturdays. (I get they didnt realize they could stop the pattern by scheduling less appointments on Saturdays.) I eventually asked to reschedule after waiting far too long.To be fair, I think one of my appointments was actually quick.But nothing compares to trying to get my medical records sent to my new dentist after I moved. My new dentist tried to call the Goleta office a few times, but was hung up on after being on hold for 20 minutes. Then I tried to call but was told that Western Dental is unable to email my medical records unless its another Western Dental office. (I think its a business strategy to try and keep patients going back to Western Dental instead of switching dentists by making transfer of medical records difficult.) I was told I had to come to the office in person, but I live far away now, so thats a huge inconvenience. I tried to have my medical records released to a friend because he still lived in Goleta. After my friend was refused I was able to get the front office staff to agree to mail my printed out digital medical records and gave them the address of the new dentist. They never mailed them. Running out of ideas, besides taking an expensive trip just to get my medical records released in person, I had the Santa Barbara Sheriffs office serve a HIPAA release form in person to the Goleta office. This had the benefits of being a federal form, the sheriff keeps a copy of the form, and it would be Western Dentals word against the Sheriffs office should they refuse.These events havent even concluded yet, but should Western Dental still fail to transfer my medical records, then theres always the courts. BEGIN UPDATE After calling headquarters stating that after having the sheriff serve the request for medical records, which was overkill, my only option remaining was to take it to court, which I didnt want to do, but what options did I have left. Later I received a personal call from headquarters with an apology and my medical records would be electronically sent to my new dentist. What an unnecessary experience. END UPDATEAnd now I am here venting about it. I wouldnt choose Western Dental as my dentist if I were you!!!

I give it 2 stars because some of the staff is friendly with the exception of the receptionists and the one who makes the payments, always in a bad way. The wait is too much, up to more than 2 hours. One of the dentists who was going to put a crown on me hurt me horribly when he tried to remove the temporary one to the point that I bled and in the end he did not put the permanent crown on me because according to him the pain was not normal and of course it is not normal if I pull it with the tweezers so hard that I felt like I was pulling my teeth out, I think the dentist was too rough in doing his job. I hope the place and some of the staff improve.

To begin with, they offered me a treatment without explaining the procedure to me.
