My car is over 10 years old and I have been taking it to Walsh Brothers for at least the last 7 years. I have found them to be consistently professional and straightforward regarding pricing and repairs that are absolutely necessary and ones that can wait. Over the years I have also compared pricing for basic services like new brakes on a Mazda 3, for example, and although nobody does it inexpensively, I found Walsh Brothers pricing to consistently be hundreds of dollars less than others for comparable work. Like a good dentist, its nice to know someone whos familiar with your setup and history and realizes that repeat customers are more important than a quick buck. Looking forward to my next visit.

I have been taking my card for repair to Walsh brothers for over 10 years. First with my Vovlvos and then my VW and Mercedes.I always got high quality workmanship, and very reasonable price. I got blown head gasket to transmission repair from them. I recommended to my friendsI just found out that they moved to Ashby. Walsh brothers would be my first choice for any car repair.

January 19, 2024. I had my service done on my S70. The car was not starting in “cold”California weather. With a new Fuel Pump Relay we are now starting and running smoothly. Other diagnostics checked out good. Wonderful that parts are readily available! Thank you Carlos and Louise.

Walsh Bros has consistently done a great job with my car, and Im happy to have found them as my regular mechanic.I bought a used C30 and brought it to Walsh Bros for an inspection. They did a thorough, quick job and were open and communicative throughout the whole process.Later on when a tiny crack on my coolant case grew and began to leak, Louise the owner stayed behind after closing to make sure I could bring my car in and have it ready the next day.Overall the quality of work has been very good, and theyve been extremely open, pleasant and easy to work with.

When I got my first Volvo in 2000, I was going to the dealer for service only to learn the cost was crazy. Then I discovered Walsh and the car part of my life is perfect. My son had used Walsh Brothers Volvo services and was very pleased. Ive since entrusted them with my two Volvos and couldnt be happier with their expertise and professionalism. They may have already saved me an unneeded transmission replacement on one of my cars. And they may have saved my entire second older car from extinction, by making an inexpensive repair that allowed the vehicle to pass smog inspection, after it had failed a first time. Im grateful to have found them and am looking forward to a long relationship.

This is the best auto repair shop I have ever been too. I just got my car today I have a 2005 s60 and they had to replace the solenoids on this car difficult situation. However no problem or issues for them. They made the service super easy and kept me updated and as well besides that service. They were able to check a few other things on the car and fixed them. As well they offered great feedback and opinions on what you should do. They are not looking for money they are a genuine business who look for the enjoyment of helping people get their cars back on the food leaving them better than new.

My Dad was a regular at the Walsh Bros right before he moved to Georgia. He always told me that they went above and beyond with his Volvo Suv. Not to mention that they were friendly and had great customer service skills.So I took my s70 to their shop and was warmly greeted by the owner named Louise. She was undeniably sweet and welcoming. The repairs I wanted to fix was explained thoroughly and at a fair price.There were some unexpected issues that needed to be addressed but a costly repair I wasnt expecting which was a rotor replacement. That was crucial as I will be relocating to Texas in a week from now. Luckily, she worked with me and gave me an awesome deal. This isnt your atypical mechanic shop who are blood thirsty for every penny youve got. They truly are genuine people who look after their own. My only complaint is that they dont have a branch in Texas!Thanks Louise! You and your team Rocks!-E.C

Walsh Bros are also fantastic with vehicles that are not Volvos. When I recently took a job in the area, they were recommended by a family member. They take great care of my 2017 Ram and my grandma car, a 2000 Buick Lasabre. They never up-sale me with stuff I dont need. Last time I went in for a tune up & they pointed out a problem with my tire that could have been fatal if I got the freeway without fixing it.They are kind, listen well, honest and family business...and woman owned. They rock!

MY car was towed here after a part failure. The service adviser, and his colleagues, were kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. While I agreed to some necessary additional work, I did not feel under any pressure and was able to discuss it in a reasonable manner. I will definitely be recommending Walsh Brothers to friends and colleagues and will continue to bring my car here while I am locally resident.

As a long-time customer of Walsh Brothers auto service I have had only positive experiences with this family-owned shop. Recently had a careful diagnosis of a failing alternator with a quality replacement installed promptly. I have complete confidence in these folks, both for technical know-how and honest treatment. They have kept my 25-yr-old car in perfect condition at almost 200,000 miles.

This was my first experience with Walsh Brothers Inc. The shop was recommended by AAA, as it is an AAA certified shop.The cost of service was extremely reasonable. The quality of the work was quite satisfactory. The thorough evaluation of the over-all condition of the vehicle and the knowledge ascertain, considering the mechanic had no prior information of the cars history, was impressive.Walsh Brothers Inc. will be my go-to-space for future vehicle upkeep and repairs. I’ve tried out a number of shops in the area, If you have a Volvo 240 or any other older Volvo, this is the shop. I’m hesitant to have many shops work on my vintage 244 and it was apparent when talking to these folks that they knew exactly what to do with it. Prices were excellent, work was prompt, employees were very nice. They were not alarmist about small leaks and imperfections; their threshold for what actually needs attention seems pretty spot on. Will be returning to Walsh brothers in the future for any jobs I cannot complete myself at home. recommended to me by other Volvo/Saab mechanics, now I highly recommend them to you.

I had my CV boots and suspension bearings/mounts replaced here for my Volvo S40 2001. While the suspension was done correctly, the CV boots were not, and the inner CV boot lost a ton of grease. When I inspected the boot, I saw that the clamp had not been tightened all the way -- I had to repack the CV joint and reclamp, which was a real pain since the boot lip needs to be very clean for no grease to leak past. To give credit where its due, the outer CV boots are not leaking (for now), but for how much I spent for this repair, I wish it would have been done properly.Do not recommend this place for CV boot maintenance.

Ive been taking my Volvo to Louise and the guys for years and have nothing but great things to say. Theyre an old school straight shooting shop who will give an honest assessment and breakdown of your Swedish steeds needs. No upselling or gimmicks.Theyve been working on these cars since the dawn of man and know everything there is to know about Volvos. I have to say my experience was very good, I found these guys through the Berkeley parents network where they had very positive reviews.They installed a used engine in my 2006 Volvo XC90 that I provided and my Volvo is running great again. I have never had an experience with a mechanic that came even close to the quality of service I have received from Walsh Brothers. John went above and beyond to make me feel taken care of when it was important. And during routine visits, i feel like this place takes the time to educate me and theyre honest about what fixes are necessary, and which ones can be put off for a later date. I wouldnt want to take my Volvo anywhere else!

It is so important to uphold those still around that provide solid service.In Berkeley, there used to be a tongue-in-cheek slogan: Drive a Volvo or go to jail. Walsh Bros. Volvo (Service) in west Berkeley has dependably serviced these solid cars for decades. Three of mine have been doctored there; I even bought my current drive from them. Complete honesty and transparency, deep technical knowledge, and all at an amazingly low, highly competitive cost.Diogenes, with his lamp in search of an honest man, had it easy. I was in search of an honest man who also knew how to repair and maintain a 1993 Volvo. Thats what I found in the Walsh Brothers. I spent too many years going to Volvo dealers for maintenance and repair. They gradually knew less and less about how to do the work, and some of them cost me several thousand dollars by mis-repairing the car. The Walsh Brothers have unparalleled, deep, and precise knowledge of Volvos (doubtless of other brands as well). And their approach to fixing up this 1993 car which had been neglected and misrepaired was not to throw the book at it, but to identify and lay out a proper order for fixing things--not all at once, but deliberately, starting with the most urgent and moving on to the less urgent, with no exaggeration about the urgency or lack thereof. The result was a car that basically runs like new, so smoothly and efficiently and quietly that I began to enjoy driving it! Such technical competence is hard to find, but to find it matched with honesty and openness was a real surprise. Consider the following estimates for repair: Replace transmission mount parts and labor $153.01. Replace all belts including labor $152.14, and exhaust manifold parts and labor $147.84. That is exactly what they charged when I had those repairs done. Notice the estimates to the right of the decimal point! These are really calculations using years of real data, a far cry from the dealers estimate of $1550 for x y and z. And, to top it off, when there was a small delay in getting my smog apparatus fixed, they went out into their collection of old Volvos and found chrome stripping to replace the missing pieces on my car...completely gratis and without charge, lagniappe. That says something about their attitude toward repair and maintenance, and toward their customers, whom Ive since learned are fiercely loyal. I dont take my car anywhere else. You shouldnt either.

We were on a road trip from LA to Seattle and broke down 45 minutes away from Berkley. The kind folks at Walsh Bros were able to see the car, diagnose a leaking water pump replace it and a new thermostat, in just a couple hours, to get us back on the road. Best of all though, is they were really nice, and showed us exactly what was failing and why, and even swapped out a couple belts without charging for labor. He showed us under the hood, and pointed out a couple things to keep an eye on. Would highly recommend the Walsh Bros and would use them again next time we are in Berkley!

My 1993 Jeep Wrangler was VERY sluggish to start, and getting worse. My livelihood depends on my car running well; it was the weekend, and I was in a panic. I called my regular mechanic first thing Monday morning, but they were booked up. Walsh Bros. is just down the street from me, so I decided to try them. Carlos took me in right away! They diagnosed the problem, replaced my starter motor, and my Jeep was ready to go in 3 hours! Great service, great people, great prices!! They have a new, loyal customer!
