The staff at this Vons is extremely rude, especially self-checkout and management. I don’t expect a friendly attitude, but they do not even have basic respect or consideration for their customers. I very kindly asked to make a return for a purchase I made THE DAY BEFORE that I made by mistake. They did not allow me to return and were unsure about their own return policy. Their specific return policy is not available to customers either, so they can do whatever they want. Customer service said no and then asked the manager and the manager asked the same person who called the manager. They both agreed to not allow me to return for no apparent reason without even letting me talk or explain. They said we sometimes accept these kinds of returns, but that they didn’t want to accept it for me. They seemed to get something out of being rude to me. In my opinion, it seemed like it even had some kind of discriminatory undertones- either due to my age, appearance, or ethnicity. They accepted a return that was half-eaten food for an older Caucasian man right before me. My purchase was completely unopened and untouched. I had a receipt as well. They definitely had something against me, whatever their problem is. I see that I am not the only one in the reviews section who has experienced discrimination at this location. Someone needs to seriously do something about this. Do not buy anything you are even slightly unsure about because you may be their next victim.

I went to the self checkout and started scanning the items, when I realized that the chicken didn’t have the label with the barcode. There were 2 employees working there and I asked one for help, but he just told me to pay the other items, go back inside and bring another tray of chicken. He didn’t even gave me choice of leaving the cart there and go quickly exchange the product. The worst part is that he was not even busy, he was chatting and looking at his phone.

Like any other places these days, you need to download their app to make the most out of your shopping experience. I feel like many items are overpriced so that they can be on sale. With that said, this store is always clean, and the staff at the pharmacy is helpful. Parking is easy.

I had one of the best customer experiences of my adult life today - a prime testament of someone going above and beyond. Scott you touched my heart today.Last week, I placed a curbside order and forgot about it completely, 2 days later Scott calls with a friendly reminder. Told me he was going to replace some of my produce that went bad and noticed an expiration date on one item, replaced that. Over the phone I could just tell how much he cared.Met Scott later that day, and i was right about him. He is such a nice, kind, genuine human. I get my groceries, leave, 3 minutes go by, Scott called me with an honest mistake, forgot one bag with my frozen items. Told him not to worry about it, just refund me.Had such a positive experience, decided to move my order pick up to the Vons that Scott works at even though it’s a further distance from my house. Today, sure enough I am so happy to see Scott bringing out my order.He told me he added the things to my order that he accidentally forgot to give me for free. He didn’t have to do that. Words cannot express how much his kindness matters to me. Not sure, but God must be looking out for me, otherwise we probably would have never crossed paths.Scott, if you’re reading this, you’re truly one of the nicest and kindest professionals I’ve ever met. I’m making a weekly pickup at this specific Vons a ritual.Thanks for making me feel cared for. Truly.

Awful old broken down electric carts for handicapped or injured folks. They barely hold a charge for a quick shopping. They are left out in the parking lot and no one brings them back in to charge. I had to hobble on my crutch all the way back to the pharmacy last week to get my vaccination and prescription.If Vons doesn’t care about providing handicap access to their customers then please put the pharmacy at the front of the store instead of way in the back.Everything else is lovely. The employees are friendly and helpful as are the pharmacy staff. Parking is great and plentiful and the area is beautiful.Good luck to the disabled 😩

First time ever shopping at a Vons and I have to say that it was a pretty easy and quick experience. I didn’t have really any problems or issues and the place wasn’t very busy so it did make it easy to get what I needed and get out without have to wait in a any of the long lines or anything like that. 4/5 stars!!!

The floral department was the worst among all the Vons locations that I have ever visited. The flowers are often dead and dried, even when I visited during the mid of the day. The floral department workers are extremely rude and arrogant, especially the tall and skinny girls. They are not being helpful or supportive when I have questions.

QUICK STOP ! I headed over this way on Wednesday mainly to give my Nissan 350Z a good run.....I drive it very little. We have a Vons 2 minutes away from home but they seldom have the Gatorade flavors I like. After a 7 mile drive I arrived around 11.30am and parked out front of the store. Of course there is now a Tesla Supercharging Station on the edge of the parking lot these days....my wife has used it a couple of times recently. After finding the right aisle for energy drinks I grabbed 3 of the flavor I prefer and headed to the checkout. AND THEN I WAS GONE !

I needed flowers for a baby shower and the floral dept was able to accommodate my last minute request!! They were so helpful!! And in the deli area I ordered 3 fruit platters. I realized I didn’t have room in my fridge after I placed my order for pickup the next day, so I called to pick up the next morning. They were just finishing when I showed up as they waited to add fresh cut fruit that morning!! The platters were a hit! Vons help take the stress out of having to do this all myself!

Racially profiled here all the time…Today at 11:50 am I was in your store and as I was checking out I felt a hovering presence, looked over to see the self check out attendant was watching me closely (older slender white gentleman and I believe he was wearing glasses). I asked him if it was necessary for him to be standing so closely and staring at me and he chuckled and said that’s what they pay me to do. HE DID NOT MOVE. No respect for my experience or attempt to set a boundary. A few moments later, I looked around and there were 2-3 other people checking out while he was still hovering and closely watching me and I pointed that out to him and noted the area where most of the attendants usually stand and only then he agreed to give me the needed space. As a successful black business owner who lives only blocks from this store it is frustrating to shop here and experience your staff treat me like I am more likely to steal than the other customers checking out. I was profiled with a friend on MLK day and almost posted then. It is always hit or miss if I am going to be treated equitably at this location. I have never perpetually experienced this type of profiling at any another Vons location and I’ve been shopping at Vons for most of my adult life. Please get your staff some diversity and inclusion training. I understand that bias can be unconscious and people may not always be aware of what they are doing so at the very least encourage your staff to respectfully respond when a customer is expressing a concern or need no matter what color of skin they have.

I like my Vons. Theyve improved on so many fronts. I can imagine how hard it is with turn around and such. My only issue is at 5-6 p.m. its pretty busy as many of us are getting last minute stuff for dinner. Easy to say staff up but cant have extra cashiers come in for 1-2 hours just for the rush. Deal with it. I dont shop on Sunday because they need to restock their shelves. Other than that, Ive had great service in all the departments. Cashiers are always great and I wouldnt want their jobs with some of the people they have to deal with.

Raising the price of gallon of milk to $5, and marking it on sale for more than the old price is manipulative. Response to comment: Costco, Target, even most quick stop gas station stores now have better prices on milk. Your charging organic milk prices for regular store brand milk. Yes, please check your competitive prices again. Until then Ill Instacart from another store.

I live less than one mile from this location and visit the store weekly at a minimum. The staff is always friendly. The customers are generally pleasant but not always courteous. The food selections are adequate and the beer/wine/liquors are plentiful. The store is REALLY busy around 4-6pm during the week.

This is probably the cleanest and emptiest Vons Ive ever been to (but I used to live in the UTC area and the Vons on Regents is really crowded). I have no clue if the prices are better than other Vons, since this one is in a more expensive area. However, its very neat and clean every time weve been. 4 stars instead of 5 because I normally dont see a lot of workers there. Maybe its because Im always there in the evening, but usually the only workers Ive seen are at the front. This is fine, normally I can find everything, but sometimes Ive had to wander for a bit.

I have to say I am so fed up with the rudeness of the employees here! The first few times I let it go but it seems to be an ongoing thing! I can only estimate that is the reflection of management and not being able to handle their employees well enough or manage well enough. I am absolutely disgusted with the attitudes that constantly run through this store from the floral department ladies (extremely rude) to the checkout people. I’m sick of the nasty snide remarks under their breath I’m sick of the tone of speaking to customers and it’s not only me I’ve heard them talk to other people and they’re just absolutely rude! Maybe try to hire some people with some great customer service or need to get some new management in there quick. I stopped going to the store and I literally drive 20 minutes to another store because I don’t wanna deal with them. So sad.

Google recently asked me to update my review, and I realized things havent changed. My original review:The only thing this store has going for it is proximity to my house. The produce is often spoiling or not fresh (look at the tomatoes, bell peppers, or romaine lettuce), theyre often out of items for weeks (cotija cheese) or have expired items on the shelves (gorgonzola cheese). Weve even had cases where we bought something, got it home, and found it expired sooner than the same thing we bought last week (they fail to rotate stock properly). There just seems to be a high degree of not caring.

The cashiers at this location are extremely rude. One employee there seems to always be in a grumpy mood and forces a smile. I frequent this Vons 3 - 4 times a week but will be taking my shopping trips elsewhere unless management does some customer service training with these cashiers. I didnt get the name of the cashier I interacted with today, I just hope she isnt a manager there because I definitely will not go back there to deal with cashiers who have bad attitudes and no ideas of how to treat their customers.

They definitely frown upon you if you are any race other than white. They also checked our bag while at self checkout because of an error. A white lady had same error and the clerk quickly entered his code to overwrite never checking her bags. Definitely felt some discrimination

I feel Vons here is a bit small than other locations, but they still have pretty much what you need from a grocery store like this. I could even buy some car motor oils recently in a rush. Hot wings, soups are pretty nice, and I feel fried chicken and baked chicken somewhat varies from day to day. They seem to open limited counters and dont have self check out options, so lines can be quite long somtimes.

A sad excuse for a grocery store. They are always sold out of popular items, and their selection isnt very great for a large chain grocery store. In fact, its down right dispicable. This is the closest grocery store my work and I cant tell you how many times I have been in there only to find that the item I came there for, they dont even carry. Not as in its out of stock, but they dont even carry it. The things I buy can be found in every single other grocery store I have ever been in, but this one is GREATLY lacking on selection. They arent lacking in space however, which makes me wonder why they choose to suck on their selections. Im not a big fan of Safeway Co. prices in general, but this Vons, (in the middle of Torrey Hills, granted) is a complete rip off. They charge too much for too little. There is never anymore than 2 registers open, a few cashiers are cordial enough, but Ive come across more rude unhelpful employees than I have come across any quality customer service. Its really a nightmare when I go in there, and I always dread having to go waste my time in there to find they dont have what I need. It seems this crappy vons has a monopoly in this area however, because this is the closest grocery store to my work by far. Sad, really. I always thought Safeway had more pride in their stores, but this location proves otherwise.

I noticed while shopping here that Employees are moving the cars back from cart return areas to the pick-up areas without sanitizing them.I would recommend implementing policy that all carts are sanitized like is being done at Ralphs and Trader Joes

I agree with other reviews I was here last week and like Leslie below we stood in line for almost a half hour. We just moved to the area and prices are AT LEAST 20% higher than other vons in California...what a rip off. It is also very upsetting they charge for bags. I guess that is a conservation effort but I hate it is pushed! We recycle bags for diapers and as bathroom trash bags so now that is higher per bag. Nice bs way to make even more revenues.But the reason for a single star is the bathrooms are disgusting it is November 13th I took my daughter to the restroom and the hourly check sheet on the wall has not been updated since October 22nd and it reflects that.. I am sure it has been stocked since but there is little care of management oversight and this is where employees use a restroom who handle food... eew. I expect more cleanliness especially in this upscale neighborhood because you are certainly paying the price.... well guess I am switching to buying most groceries through amazon! Really should be ZERO stars, I would not go there, go ten minutes out of your way and go to Ralphs of Del Mar Heights Road.This is the dirtiest food store I have ever been in, and I have shopped in the third world. Bagged lettuce is typically wilting and past its prime. So too are many of the dairy and meat products. And the shelves they sit on havent been cleaned since Clinton was in office.For a neighborhood Vons, surrounded by many homes with children, one would think the milk section would be adequately stocked. The most popular selections are always sold out.When you bring things to the attention of the management, the frankly dont care. The staff dont try to engage or help customers and often are downright rude. Just avoid this store.

Manager is Very confrontational about wearing a mask. A manager fighting with a patron presents poor customer service. The manager could not even face us, he just yelled as walking away. There are people who cant wear masks due to physical/health problems. Take a page from the POTUS...no mask and still no Covid-19. We are adults and should be allowed to choose if we want to mask up or not.

All the 4 and 5 Star reviews are fake!!! Everyone in the community knows the customer service is the WORST!!! 3s a Crowd is an absolute joke! They have never ONCE in 3 years had less than 3 people in line, and the horrible and incompetent manager refuses to hire more cashiers and baggers. Usually there are only 1 or 2 cashiers open, and often no baggers. This is a community of 30,000 people! This VONS used to have great service until they merged with HORRIBLE Albertsons about 3 years ago and got a new manager. HIRE SOME MORE CASHIERS and stop lying that you open a new cashier when there are more than 3 in line. 100% of the time there are extremely long lines at this store. This is the closest Grocery store to me so I find myself running over there quite often and it seems to me that there are never more than two check stands open and always long lines. They seem to run out of a lot of the staples I need so I end up making a trip and not getting everything I really wanted. The soda machine is always broken or theyve run out of diet coke and the cups and straws are mess. Too that end I try to go to another store when I have more shopping to do. I think the main problem is that they are understaffed, perhaps they dont do enough business to keep more checkout stands open.

Long wait times as they usually only have 1 - 2 cashiers during peak lunch hours. This is a spot that I and several people around here come for lunch as they have a sandwiching making section along with other various items. Will typically take 30 mins to have your sandwhich made, stand in line, and then pay. Well now my lunch is over 🤦🏽‍♂️

Theres not just food at Vons. There are sections for medicine, animal care, cleaning, and a ton of other stuff. There is also a bakery where bread is baked in the store and served fresh. Basically, Vons is where you should go if youre just looking for food or household supplies.

I like vons. Its a bit pricier than some other places, but they more often than not have what Im looking for. I dont like sprouts and trader Joes. Both of those are uppity.
