Parking is easy and plenty. The staff is friendly and helpful. I was able to find all the items that I needed. Self-checkout was a breeze.

This is my nearest grocery store but I stopped going about a month ago, the staff are the most depressed looking bunch, and at first I thought thats understandable, its not the best job, but in all the grocery stores Ive visited since during the same time of day the staff has been polite, willing to help, and generally arent a bunch of depressed looking individuals.The final straw was having none of the self-checkouts open while being stuck in the single register line that was open because the cashier was busy hunting down coupon information with the customer at the till continuously asking her to move on while two other employees just looked on as if they didnt want to say anything.This location has great reviews, my experience has clearly been different but I can say its been a pleasant shopping experience since Ive been going to other locations. Hope whatever is causing this malaise amongst the staff improves one day.

In the middle of El Cajon city. Clean and popular grocery store with their quality of goods. The have a good inventory of Halloween candies, and their fruits and vegetables are on top of line. They are kind of pricy compared to Walmart. Their bakery is awesome too. Perfect for buying flowers as well. Thank you

I moved into the area 2 years ago. The Vons is the closest and most convenient from my home.Before moving I couldn’t have been happier with the service from the Albertsons I had gone to for years. Where the employees actually wore uniforms and could be identified as employees. It seems the Vons doesn’t stress the need for their employees to wear uniforms.In the last 3-5 months I have noticed the employees do not look happy and there is generally no communication with me in self checkout or utilizing an open checkout lane (when there is actually more than 1 open which is rare).What really bothers me is the stealing I have seen from the store the last 3 times I have gone. The most recent was a woman and teenaged boy using self checkout. They scanned everything, threw it in the cart and walked out of the store. I told an employee this was happening and she said this happens all the time. I have noticed the store in the last month has had a security guard in the store which appears to do nothing to stop persons from stealing.Before writing this review I have seen a response from the “owner” on other reviews stating they have talked to staff regarding the complaint reviews but it seems nothing is happening. I feel this Vons will be like so many other stores and will close due to all the thefts, or the prices will just be higher.I am going to make the further drive to Rancho San Diego now to use the Albertsons. At least their employees seem to enjoy working there and are communicative and helpful and I have not noticed the thefts from that store.

I spend a lot of money in this store. Everybody used to be very nice and I loved this store. The last 3 times I have been there, the baggers have slammed my groceries in the bags and have been very unfriendly. Makes me want to go somewhere else.

Today Deli experience was horrible. Im usually a tough girl but being spoken to rudely and not wanting to be waited on brought me to a new place and it was hurtful. I spoke to the manager on duty that tried to help but the gentleman in back laughed at her, laughed at the situation and it was easier to just walk away from the area. I am a regular, it may take me a little longer to go back to this location but eventually I will. Im just so disappointed.

Overall nice store with a decent selection. Unfortunately last time I was in the area I stopped by with my wife to grab some beers before heading over to my friends house for a hang out. Keep in mind we are both mid 20’s so I expect to get asked for ID. My wife wanted to grab some snacks and I grabbed some beer. When I went up to pay for my beer the cashier said no I need to see her ID too. My wife didn’t have any she left it at the house. Fine whatever refuse service. The moment I had a bigger issue is when she decided to lie to me and tell me it’s against the law. No it’s not, she was totally unable to provide me theBusiness and Professions code that selling me beer would violate. Maybe a store policy. But absolutely not a law. Refusing service is one thing but don’t lie to your customers and make them feel like what they are doing is illegal. Decided to just go down the street and buy alcohol. Cashier there had no problem with it. If I come back here in the future I guess I just have to remember to leave my wife in the car.

Update:They seem to be handling the homeless issue a little better with security but they are still peeing everywhere so its still a little nasty.They have fixed up the inside a little as well.Still not what you would find in other areas but little steps forward.Old review :Its ok but after visiting other supermarkets its clear this location needs an update, a little refresh. The other thing is there is some sketchy folks around the shopping center. They have a problem with homeless people. The shopping center is dirty and smells. Doesnt really make you want to go shopping for groceries. Giving it three stars because its not really their fault.

I went to the pharmacy to ask a simple question. The girl with earpods in ignores me while I wait patiently, then she rolls her eyes and looks to me. I ask my question about finding adult medication because all I saw was childrens, she huffs and gives me the dirtiest look full of disgust. (Lady, Im here for medicine, not your drama.) This person was unbelievably rude, ignorant, and didnt offer any help, she just looked at me with disdain. If you hire fools, dont be surprised when they are foolish.

I ordered curbside pickup and it took a little longer than I expected it to. I understand they were pretty busy. It could have been easier if I could have added a gallon of milk to my order before I went to pick it up. Theres probably a way, but it wasnt very clear to me.

Make sure to use the app when going to Vons. Even if you are not ordering online you can clip your coupons to the app. Really cool. My last 3 orders were about 50% less than usual. You can also order pickup and go for free.

I purchased a birthday cake for my mother, but the box it came in was not closed all the way. When I went to ring up at the self-checkout, the worker that was there got me tape and helped me seal the box. Thankful she took the time to make sure my cake got covered up. Ladies at the bakery were also great.

I enjoy shopping here. The staff seems very nice, and I havent had any problems. Also, there is a small Starbucks stand inside the store, and the Starbucks crew has always done a great job. Not only are they friendly, but they seem to work quickly, without compromising the quality of their drinks. In fact, I feel they make the Frappuccinos better than any of the other Starbucks I have been to.

I feel the need to edit my opinion of this store. Last week I went shopping here, and was to receive 4 reward points for my shopping trip there and the amount I had spent. I called corporate and asked them to fix the problem, and they stated it would be fixed within 24 hours, so they havent fixed it!? The store itself is very short staffed so things are not in a good place here. What staff is there are very nice but for the amount we are all paying for groceries, things need to improve, and if we earn points we need to get them to at least save some money!

This is my favorite vons. The employees are always so friendly and helpful. I buy most of my meat here and the meat department goes above and beyond. They even suggest different ways of preparing meat dishes. I enjoy the conversation and new suggestions.

They finally got the self check out units so they dont have those super long lines with only 2 cashiers which is a plus, but their is rarely anyone available if you want to find something, but the flower area there is a lady that just had poor customer service. My wife wanted to put a little string bow for some flowers we were going to buy and she just gave us the worst attitude and made us feel like we asked for something unreasonable. This is our usual flower shop and there are some ladies in their that are just outstanding but when this lady works we pretty much avoid buying flowers for the house.This Vons is getting better but really needs some work in service.P.S. try the bakery sandwiches they are so good but expect to wait for someone to help you as they are really slow in making it.

I often get off work very close to their closing time, and arrive about 10 minutes or less before they close. Theyve always been very polite and understanding about it. Never had anything less than stellar service. I mean its a grocery store, how would one differentiate itself from the thousands of competitors? With good service. Thats the only way, and this Vons has nailed it.

On my recent visit to Vons, unfortunately I experienced the worst customer service this time.A young boy in the aisle demonstrated his lack of willingness to assist finding the product I was looking for. He told me to look for it in the aisle, I asked him to please help me find it but he gave me a look as f I was bothering him. When he found the item, he only pointed where it was and left. Another female employee gladly assisted me to reach out the item using a step stool.I went to the register to pay and the cashier had a very unfriendly attitude and interrupted me several times while I was taking care of my purchase saying I couldnt add any coupons after she started scanning and I was not requiring the use of any coupons at all. She used a demeaning tone of voice saying I had to be ready before going to the register only because I added mints at the register.Lastly, the same young employee was bagging my items and mixed all the items not being carefully to separate vegetables and bottles or cans. The older lady, the cashier, was very defensive when I mentioned someone had helped me when I asked him previously and he just left.I always had a perception of this stores to provide excellent service bit this would be the only exception.

About 11:10am this morning bought a few things & went to self checkout. Scanned 1st item & realized I had wrong flavor so I canceled item. Went & got right flavor. Came right back to same kiosk. Lovely Vons but the worst customer service time Ive ever experienced. Every time I visit the hot deli, they have 3 to 4 employees making sandwiches and chicken, but they NEVER acknowledge you. Today myself and 7 other customers were kept waiting nearly 10 minutes (the poor woman ahead of me was 80+ and clearly in pain standing there) before anyone asked us for assistance. It was shocking to me that making sandwiches for your display would take priority over helping people trying to give you money. Your absolutely awful Vons. I wish I could give you zero stars.

I was told to call between midnight and 5 AM to speak to Mike in a certain dept. I called at 11:56 and was RUDELY told its not midnight yet and I should call back at 12:10... I called 5 times after 12:10 and got hung up on each time after being on hold for 2 minutesI didnt even ask for Mikes work hours. It was suggested to me on 3 occasions to call him since the item I was looking for was out of stock... BUT you guys need to order more than 3 of the big chocolate buzz ballz a week!!! Im not the only one buying them .. Its still only 3 stars because your prices are outrageous compaired to other stores. The only reason I shop here is because you guys are the only store that sells the buzz ballz. I only shop for other stuff sometimes cuz your store is so empty and I dont feel like dealing with crowds elsewhere. To get the same deal as other stores I have to buy 10 of the same thing... I have been going to this store for several years. Today I had horrible experiences with a staff member she was very rude and racist. She had very aggressive attitude when she approached me while I was checking my groceries and wanted me to move the basket. I felt very embarrassed when she checked my receipt to see how many plastic bags I paid. Very rude and racist staff. Zero customer service and the funny part shes the manager really. I have been grateful for this store for a long time, but last night I had a very bad experience.I came in to get food on the evening of August 10, 2020, when I had nothing at home, and I was thrown out of the store while shopping. Two employees including a manager accused me of having stolen on multiple occasions from the store when in fact I have never stolen anything ever. The manager more or less refused to even speak to me, and the security guard wouldnt allow me to speak to the manager even though I was being calm and polite. The employees were both very rude. I might file a complaint against these employees and the store.Update: I spoke with Karen, a manager, possibly the one who threw me out. She said I can talk to someone the next time I come in. I will, and I appreciate her giving me a chance to explain myself over the phone, but they shouldve allowed me to explain while I was in the store before assuming that I was stealing and throwing me out, because I know there is no evidence Ive ever stolen, only false accusations.I take my time when I shop. Often it takes me a while to decide whether or not to buy an item. Sometimes I pick things up and put them back. This might be why some employees are suspicious of me. Maybe the employees should not assume the worst in people, and maybe they should take time to see if there is any concrete evidence of theft before making such serious accusations, because all they had was he said, she said.This is is a very serious accusation your employees have made against me. Even though I am innocent, if I come into your store again and am once again falsely accused of theft, there could be devestating consequences for me. Will your employees call the police on me and claim Im stealing? Im going to need to straighten this out with your employees, managers or whoever, because as of right now, I dont feel safe shopping in your store.

Be prepared for long waits as they rarely have more than 1 or 2 lines open, no matter how many people are waiting (todays lines all stretched well into the aisles). I shop here often and in these tough times I still spend a lot in this store. After today I will never be back. Long lines, expected, being cut in front of because you’re keeping social distancing not expected. Then to have a rude, nasty cashier speak to people like dirt because you scoot up or put an item on his grocery belt is inexcusable. It’s apparent he’s not only a control freak he lacks people skills. I would rather spend my money in a friendlier super market.Btw this isn’t the first time this eccentric man has had an attitude either. He was rude to my husband on a different trip. This is a good Vons location. They do not have self checkout but they do try to process sales quickly.It does seem like one of the check stands that faces a freezer aisle is always open and sometimes that line backs up about 12 to 20 feeet blocking most of the aisle for shoppers. I recommend saving your frozen meal & pizza shopping till you are done. Then just shop this aisle while in line. It will make social distancing much easier.

Waited in line for over 20 minutes to checkout without being able to see the counters. I was treated absolutely terribly by the employees and the store manager! I always give positive honest reviews - however I have been unimpressed with this Vons for awhile now. Just went in this past Friday around 4pm - the guy at the Fish counter didnt know where the product was that was on their weekly ad. No one could be found in the Produce section. I even had the manager try to hunt him down. They had salads on their ad and they were out of salads. 4pmb in the afternoon on a Friday. I know were in a pandemic and a lot of stuff isnt stocked but where was the personnel to even say, sorry lady were out of solids. These are just a couple of the disappointments of this small store. They have been doing upgrades, painting and moving aisles around, honestly that all looks very nice and was much needed. I usually like to check out with Charles he is my favorite Checker... however Friday I checked out with a girl named Stephanie who was very unfriendly I thought. This grocery store is closest to my house, but i will drive 3 miles in the opposite direction to avoid going here. Once in a while--if I am in a hurry--I will stop here. It is always the same story: creepy parking lot, very-much overpriced (even one of the checkers said to me that i must have REALLY needed a chuck roast to pay their price for it and followed that she cannot afford to shop there!), poor produce, LONG LINES, poor customer service (the staff really does talk to each other most of the time and ignore you), and the deli counter staff stand in the back as long as possible pretending they cannot see/hear you out at the counter waiting for them--even if you call out to get their attention! Finally, the 15 items or less express checkout more often than not has people with cartloads of food in it, and the staff does not enforce the 15-item rule. Even if you buy only 2 items, there is no way you will get out of this store in under 25 minutes! The only exception is the bakery staff, who are friendly and will do everything in their power to accomodate you.

They follow me through out the store, watching Mee,. As if Im some big time thief. Only, Ive never stolen anything from that store, they do the same to all my friends as well. My favorite store is Vons. Today many sale items on shelf were gone. It is inevitable that I need to check my receipt every visit too. Glad I did as there were 3 items that apparently didnt qualify for the deal, 3 for $5.00 though it was the same brand, their own, Signature..apparently it was only select items. We are going there only to drop off prescription. Cashier is horrible. One day the bakery gave sample of glazed donuts to customers. They were in big pieces but not whole. She (bakery lady) ask customers to use blue plastic as wrap. My girl got me one although I did not want it, so I keep on cup holder on the cart. Right after we pay,with rude attitude, the female cashier ask : what about donut? You didnt pay it. I told her about sample in bakery, she didnt believe.
