Love this Vons - especially the easy parking, wide aisles and how clean it always is. The pharmacy line is usually shorter than most too, especially the one in Liberty Station. On my last trip I was in a hurry with just a bottle of wine, and the two checkout lines were long. But April came to my rescue and rang me up over by the self checkout so I could be on my way. Keep up the good work!

Got lost looking for some items (dont judge...). Each time I asked a worker they knew the EXACT location!! Very fresh fruits and vegetables. On another day the deli counter made my just not feeling like cooking tonight meal worth the trip. Friendly and helpful workers. Seeing a security guard was a little reassuring considering the growing craziness happening in the world.

This store is such trash. They’re ***regulalry**^ out of peppermint mocha creamer. 12+ years and counting. Tim, the dairy manager at the Encinitas store, has been able to keep it stocked for the last 10 years. Can’t be that difficult to gauge customer demand. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

I bought 2 lobster tails just yesterday at 7.99 per tail. The lobster tails had no flavor like I normally experience and they were very dry even though I cooked them the same way I always cook them. We like this vons. It seems like each location has its own vibe. We shy away from the ones closest to my house because we dont like the vibes there lol.This location has a parking garage in its basement. If youre looking to run in real kwik and run out then park upstairs and or dont grab a cart. If youre downstairs then there is a conveyerbelt that pulls your cart up and down separate from the moving sidewalk you use to get up and down.This location is pretty clean. The asiles feel wide and the lighting is bright.No problems to complain about. We happen to love the Vons as a grocery store so we gave this a 5 star rating

I was just harassed by a lady today at the self-checkout. This is how she tried to get my attention - “HEY HEY!! Come back here!” (Yes, she was yelling.) She was hostile, rude, and insisted I should have let her know that I wasn’t going to continue with my purchases; otherwise, she’s going to think I was STEALING. She literally said those words: STEALING. Her first thought was that I was “stealing,” to which I responded, “How am I stealing if I’m going back into the store? (to check the deals for probiotics) Why would anyone steal probiotics and fish oil? She said, “There is a camera in front of this machine”—Seriously? There are cameras everywhere.My question for management is: How are you checking for homophobia and racism? Because the same day, another white man at the cash register was rude and doubted the fact that I was getting the buy 1 get 1 free deal (mix & match) for vitamins. He mutters, “yeah not sure if this is gonna work” (IT DID) How do they not know the deals? Aren’t they suppose to be helping? I want the old Hillcrest back. My partner is white passing and she tells me that they are very nice to her at the store and doesn’t understand why they see/treat me this way (yes she was there the entire time to witness this). It seems this has been a recurring problem around Hillcrest/Mission Hills nowadays.

Vons is a little more on the pricey side, so I usually have to plan ahead and buy in bulk. But they always have clean and good quality perishables and non-perishables. The store is clean, neat in appearance, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Update: bad experience as well today as 2 people were taken before me even though I was first at the deli. I just dont understand.The deli department is terrible. Have to drive to Ralphs to get my meat because the employees are incredibly rude here. Every time I go I feel like Im being an inconvenience by asking for an order. Today I asked for thin slice and he gave me thick slice without showing me (everywhere else they do). I mentioned that it was too thick. He said Dont worry, Ill just throw this other stuff on the floor I left without getting anything. There was another time that I asked for chicken and he ignored me several times and gave me turkey and then berated me when I said thats not what I asked for. I actually had two separate customers come up to me and told me that they dont know why he was behaving that way and that they had heard me multiple times ask. He really needs some training. He makes me so uncomfortable and Ill just drive across town.On a positive note, I always have an awesome experience with the gentleman in the liquor aisle. He is always so sweet and knowledgeable.

This is a well stocked supermarket in the Hillcrest area of San Diego. The prices are good, the staff helpful, and there is a great deli inside. The women at the deli make an awesome custom made sandwich! Great place to shop when in the area!

Welcome to cross contamination central! If your order sliced meat/cheese, take notice how they don’t change their gloves nor wash hands as they go from one order, to the phone, to the scale, to the freezer and then onto your order… not once changing gloves, so now all of those germs are on your food; it’s disgusting and is the reason people get sick. 🤢

I lowered my rating because of April. She has to be the worst and the most rude employee there. The way she treats older customers is disrespectful and I dont understand why she is employed there. But the rest of the staff is super friendly and the store clean. Ill never use self checkout again, because she thinks its funny to give me hard time by making me wait and rudely saying Ill get there when I get there she said that with a smile and loud enough so only I could hear. OK, So the huge Albertsons owned corporation, semi big box store moves into our neighborhood.. We like the convience and quality products. People that work there are usually nice too.BUT, There is a Starbucks inside that used to have SEATING for us community members to sit in and drink $5.00 coffee. But they took out the seating due to Covid, they say. But the SEATING HAS NOT RETURNED. We community members want to rest our buns. PLEASE restore the seating.Also, there is SEATING OUTSIDE NEAR THE CASHIERS. That has also been LOCKED probably due to COVID. IT is still locked. PLEASE OPEN UP THE PATIO TOO. Thank you.

I don’t understand the rudeness of the employees. They seem very unhappy and annoyed by any question or even a greeting. Today the checkout woman was rude and almost hostile. I asked why there were no baggers. She literally threw items into my bags with no regard to keeping them usable and safe. I packed my own bag to relieve her of obvious distress at having to do her job. Prices continue to rise. Are they giving raises? Cutting back on staff? If there were any other large market, I would certainly go there. The Vons has Mission Hills residents reluctant captives.

I generally like this store for cleanliness, variety, and efficiency. But they never fix their second elevator. It stays blocked and shut down permanently. This is very inconvenient in a store that has underground parking because the employees tie up the one working elevator by bringing up carts. Also they dont enforce pet laws and allow non-qualifying dogs to come into the store and sit in the grocery carts which is pretty gross. If not for those 2 things, Id happily give 5 stars. Update: Now a few weeks later and the elevator is still not fixed. And they are still letting random non-service dogs in the store and in the shopping carts. Apparently they just dont want to pay to fix the elevator? Hey, I know its expensive, but so are the groceries at this location.

Disgusting dirty conditions in the milk isle, dirty mould and dirt (see pictures) since weeks although i complained multiple times. Today the manager even told me they knew about it and would clean it only in a few weeks!Enough, Im not buying here any more, this looks dangerously unhygienic. Who knows how it looks in areas customers cannot see? This is not limited to the milk isle, take a look at other fridges as well, e.g. orange juice. Simply disgusting!

It a nice and clean grocery store but it is on a busy are and not as easy to access like the others. The staff was helpful but they didnt understand at first that I wanted to pick up my online orders without a vehicle. These are not St. Louise ribs. Not even style: we were there, we can attest to the fact.These are not even close to those @ Albertsons, Carlsbad, NM.These are not remotely resembling ribs served @ Costco in San Bernardino, CA (though not exactly St. Louise, but a good meaty chunkenough for 3).These are a small rectangular of a dry matter, covered with overly sweetsauce. And NO, that is not a BBQ sauce we are familiar with.And the roast beef: leaving alone the fact that this is $5 over the median price we are accustomed to, it is not juicy and not meat shade red.Anyway, hope upcoming Alberstsons acquisition will render a farbetter place for the Mission Hill dwellers to shop at.

I shop frequently at Vons Washington St location. The only problem I have occurs when standing at the deli counter attempting to get attention from the employees. This morning three women were behind the counter at 9:30 AM. One of the women wearing a patterned turban finished serving a customer as I approached, then turned her back to me to speak to the other female employees behind the counter and walked away. This is a nice clean store with wide isles, but it is incredibly expensive. Many items are a dollar or two or three more than other similar grocery stores. I really got the feeling they were gouging in the post Covid inflationary era.The staff, however, is quite friendly. So really I think it’s a corporate issue I’m complaining about.Many of their products are not price labeled, which also makes it difficult to find out what you’re paying until you get to check out. And their organic produce is extremely expensive compared to other retailers like Ralph’s.I ended up paying $2.99 a pound for ordinary non-organic opal apples. I didn’t see the price on the display in the produce section and when I got to the checkout counter I couldn’t believe how much they were charging for conventional produce.

It was nice and big. Have been here for first time. I like the way that parking was under the building. Since I am not from San Diego was not sure where to park and since it was night it was not of a hassle to figure out parking was there. Had to use the restroom also and was surprised to see it had a security code to open it. Reached out to billing section to get the code. Just bought a cup cake in a big size and the taste was nice.

I love this Vons. They almost always have the stuffed mushrooms, jalapeno with cream cheese, brussel sprouts and bacon in the produce section. What a store. AMAZING! Shopping here is not a chore but an experience! Shelves fully stocked. Produce screamed buy me. OMG THE BAKERY! I thought I was in Bavaria during October fest ! The smell made me spend money I didnt have. The deli was superb and the ready made sandwiches were out of this world! Worth every penny. If your staying in hotel circle and need something go here. Grocery store was clean with a big selection and fresh products. Had a big parking lot under the building which was convenient. I am from TN where plastic bags are everywhere. I got up to the self checkout and was unfamiliar with the bagging process. I asked an employee and he was rude and just said you have to buy bags. I finally figured out where the bags were and at the end of checking out it asked me how many bags I used. It would have been nice if this man could have offered some customer service but it seems he had none this day.

This Vons is relatively new and has a wide selection of merchandise. The veggies are fresh, the meat section, extensive. Staff are helpful. There are usually 3 check stands open with cashiers and baggers during high volume hours and management is not pushing shoppers to use the self checkout overtly. My biggest complaint is a lack of carts at both entrances of the store. Due to a change in the size of the carts, now carts dont fit in the escalator. The staff can only bring carts upstairs via the Elevator. So most often, there are only carts on the elevator side of the store.

I love any store with underground parking. Its way better for my dog and my stress level during these heatwaves,This store seems bigger than most. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the birthday cards by the register. When I commented on them to the cashier she told me that there was an entire row of them and that she agreed they were beautiful. What a fantastic experience! I just moved back to San Diego after being gone since 1999. Back then, this Vons location was a bit of a dive. I avoided it because it was so dreary and outdated.I knew that the store had been remodeled since then, but I was thrilled to see how truly nice it is now. Its quiet, well-organized, and everything I needed was in stock. The prices seem to be a bit higher than what Ive seen at other stores in the area, but I will definitely return. Its worth the extra cost.

Super convenient location, right near my house, and its also convenient that I can get my prescriptions here. I can usually find everything I need to cook and clean with. Their flowers are also nice and fresh. The store is always nice and clean. Their bakery is great for custom cakes. However, the cost is extremely high. I bought stuff to make a casserole and some fruit and cheese and I paid over $80. Most of the time I walk out paying at least $150 for a small shop. It seems like their prices are only getting higher! Most people I know cringe at the thought of going to Vons because their prices are so high! Lower your prices!

Great customer service. I lost my Tom ford eye glasses case and was very worried.I rang the store initially the store manager Kim did not find it in the lost and found. But she went out of her way and asked me which cash register I was at so that she could go there to check… wow to my amazement she found it. It was a miracle. I am so thankful.

We make the drive to this store to escape the lousy Ralphs near us when we have the time. Great layout, and they always seem to have what we need without paying a ton. Convenient parking and the self checkout is great, with a large space to put your stuff and a modern machine. The only downside is when you need help, the staff arent great. I was literally told that the deli was closed at like 6pm. Then why are you here?

Lately Vons has had competitive prices, but the nicest thing about this Vons was the friendly people and large variety in the selection of products. I went to go pick up a Western Union money order one day, and while waiting I noticed a huge assortment of patio and summer stuff off to the side that caught my eye. Before you knew it, I was shopping with a cart full of stuff, all at reasonable prices compared to Ralphs or Smart & Final (per unit).

The store is large with lots of options, has nice staff, and its well cleaned, but the lines have been really long every time Ive been in recently. I think they may just be understaffed. Its a lot easier if you avoid buying alcohol and use self check out. If you get alcohol, then state law says you need to go through check out with a person, so you could end up stuck in a 10-20 min long line that stretches almost to the back of the store.

Well its a grocery store. Theres an adequate organic selection, but it could be bigger. Id like to see more organic fruit and vegetables. The fruit and produce part of the store is nicely organized and well stocked.The store is clean and its somewhat easy to find items. But it would be nice if there were sales associates making rounds looking for customers who are lost or cant find something. Thats one thing I really appreciate about Trader Joes. I think these bigger stores should follow in their footsteps and have more staff available for customers out on the selling floor.If I cant find something it takes even longer to find someone to help me find it.And that can be really daunting especially if you are in a hurry.But overall this is a clean, organized well stocked store. And when you are checking out, the checkers appear to be a little tired but always friendly, in my experience.

The store is often understocked especially on sale items. If you use there just for U app dont be shocked when you cant find items advertise on it. The app can be buggy. The store itself was rebuilt about three or four years ago and is very large and clean and pleasant to shop in. Unfortunately, the parking lot is often full and it can be difficult to find a parking spot. This is due to the fact that Vons shares their parking lot with a number of businesses close by. The customer service seems to be excellent and the staff are friendly.

It is an average Vons location. Decent selection but you need to keep an eye on the prices and cashiers. They tend to ring up produce as the wrong code or manager mark downs as the original price. They either are overwhelmed or just in outer space not paying attention. Managers are good about correcting the issues and addressing concerns.

This store is my usual go to. Big store, nice selection and clean. Went Sunday, after church and the store was full of empty shopping carts and boxes upon boxes of food to be put on shelves. I was barked at twice for sipping my coffee and not having my mask in place. Off at least ten feet from anyone. And barked at for being too close to my daughter and granddaughter in line for check out. Only to hear the bagger telling everyone how sick she felt. What a buzz kill. Dont sell coffee if we cant enjoy it and send your sick employees home. I had to find another line and I will be shopping elsewhere from now on.

Huge three story store with everything you could imagine! Great deli selection and the wine section carries everything imaginable. I really like the meat department as it carries some unique meat and will special order any cut you want. It has a Starbucks right as you enter to boost you through the enormously huge selection of grocery items. With underground parking it is very easy. Biggest grocery store Ive ever seen! Flowers! Flowers! Flowers!I recently discovered the floral selection there and have been impressed. So when my best friends birthday dinner was last noght I headed over to Vons. They just hired a new guy from Colorado and I picked roses and others flowers. I had him make a bouquet for my best friend and one for me. He added so many lovely touches and greenery to make it full radiant and special. While he took his time to create these festive floral bouquets I shopped around for organic produce and berries of all sorts. He even carried out the bouquets to my car. They were so pretty I wanted to keep both for me. But I was good and gave the other one to spread the joy. Go to this Vons and have them create a custom bouquets for about $20 each. You will not be disappointed and you deserve it!!!

Feels very luxurious, especially with the sushi bar and Starbucks. I love the seating area and wonderful views. The old structure was so run down, that people would often go to Ralphs across the street because it felt like youd have been mugged in the parking lot. Now, the shelves are well stocked with an enjoyable and less frantic shopping experience than any other store for miles. Bonus points for a change counting machine and Redbox, ample underground parking structure, and well kept restrooms.

Im from Portland, Oregon and so one of the best things I experienced here was hard liquor sold in grocery stores! Vons had an impressive variety of hard liquors for cheap!The clerks were very nice and informed me that a Safeway loyalty number (because Oregon does not have Vons) would activate the savings and helped me save some $$$ (thanks, Charles!) The store was very clean and organized, and it had its own parking lot underneath the store. Because the parking spaces were under the store, it provided cover for the heavy rain storm I experienced on my trip to San Diego. It also had a neat conveyor system that brought shopping carts up and down escalators. Thats definitely something to experience if you havent before!

Von’s in Hillcrest on Washington Street is a horrible place to visit for any needs if one is black. Got prescription from doctor, was advise by the doctor’s office to go to VONS in Hillcrest less than 1/2 mile from my doctor’s office only to be profile and accused of shoplifting by Maria who was heavily pregnant with a name tag that say supervisor. The incident happened on June 22, when I came back to pick up my prescription that I have already drop off with the pharmacy department early before lunch break. I left the store, went to my car, drop off my blood pressure cuff that I had with me inside my bag that I had my breakfast in to show to my Dr. What happened next is extraordinary when I walked back into the store to pick up my prescription. Maria continue her profiling on a black woman like me, walked straight to me as I was at the back of the store next to the pharmacy looking at the pastry loaded in a cart. Maria accused me of being a shoplifter demanded that I should leave the store right now that I came back to shoplift again. Maria continue harassing me, I stood my ground telling Maria to stay away from me. Maria continue and refused to leave me alone, the more Maria demanded that I should leave the store, the more I question Maria audacity by telling Maria that VONS’ is holding my medication that I can’t leave the store till I pick up my medication. At one point during the argument between me and Maria in which I refused to leave the store, requesting to speak to store manager, Maria refused every attempt that I made to speak to the store manager. Fisher the wine manager showed up and join Maria telling me to leave the store that we black people come here to shoplift all the time. I repeated again that I am not African American they always accused of shoplifting and call the police on them. Maria and Fisher intimidation, harassment, embarrassment for over 15 minutes to 25 minutes has cause emotional distress that causes my blood pressure to jump up after the incident. I told Maria I own my car park in the garage at VONS, and own a house in this country for Maria to leave me alone. Since Maria is not backing down and I stood my ground questioning her audacity of false accusation of shoplifting that I need to see the video she said to me earlier that she saw me shoplift in the video. Maria turn around and say is the security guard that said that I shoplift. I ask Maria to call the security guard. Maria refused. Everyone in the store was watching what is unfolding being the only black customers at Von’s store at the time of this incident. For 35 years in this country traveled to so many States in the country never encounter something like this. During the encounter try to free myself from harassment and confinement from Maria and Fisher. As ignorant and arrogant as Maria is; I decided to call Maria a trash. Calling Maria a trash to me two times made her walk away and Fisher continue with Maria’s allegation of shoplifting. Maria supposed not to be a supervisor of a grocery store. I finally talk to Erica store manager, she doesn’t care and looked at me in a weird manner and said that she hasn’t watch the video when I demanded for her to show me the video of shoplifting. First time picking up prescription at VONS in Hillcrest. I didn’t want to make a fuss but to challenge Maria the supervisor audacity and Fisher the so call wine manager for harassing me for quite a long time while I came back to the store to pick up my prescription only to be profile, false accused, harassed, embarrassed, and causing emotional distress by both ignorant and arrogant VONS staff Maria and Fisher.

Parking can be a chore during rush hour but its in Hillcrest so what else do you expect. Self checkout is really convenient for the customers on the go and they have a small lounge area where you can catch up on the world while eating one of their deli made sandwiches. Im a regular and spend no more then 50 dollars worth per trip but definitely well aware of their selections and how fast the checkouts are. During the holidays Im guessing this place is a crazy so avoid it at all costs but if you must it wont be the end of the world. They have a really nice staircase you can walk up!

I have been shopping here for quite sometime and I finally have had it with this place. They are literally selling garbage. I have had numerous times where I have bought food that that has either expired or is about to expire. The deli meats and sandwich/soup selection have declined to barely edible. The store is huge and seems spacious - except when the aisles are full of boxes and pallets, which is almost constant (didnt grocery stores restock while the store was closed?). The back area by the dairy and liquor is especially cluttered every time I shop. The self check registers are already archaic - even the employees complain about their inefficiency. Finally, the employees in the deli section dont seem to enjoy working there. Just the opposite, in fact. A lot of their issues are from well before cv19, so theres that. They do now have it posted that x amount of people allowed in at a time as of 4 days ago and going with the mandates by the governor. BUT, whos checking how many people are in the store. No one at exit to count out, guard at entrance, no ticker in hand, is he counting in his head? They dont care about us, but keep raising the prices while making hand over fist profits during a pandemic with people starving and going without.

This place is awful. It is hard to get in and out of. The staff are rude, slow, and unfriendly. It is really dirty. It took me 20 minutes just to get a fountain drink. Open more check stands. Get better employees. Clean the store.

Super, super expensive!! Higher than any other store in the area for way basic stuff! Really unbelievable. Even traditional cheap food like potatoes and ramen are about double here than at the various Ralphs locations I normally frequent. And more expensive than Albertsons.That being said, the customer service is top notch, the place is seriously gorgeous; clean, well-stocked shelves, products in stock, fresh colourful produce...I guess this is for people with Whole Foods money, but blue-collar politics? Dont ask me.

I came here a week ago to buy artichokes and the blueberry beer that I like.THEY WERE OUT OF BOTH.I ended up buying a plate with a fox and a leaf on it for my dog, a Yoda goblet, and a pack of gum and I had to stand in line for 20 minutes because they never have more than 2 lines open. I gave a star each for the plate and the goblet because they are cool.Came here last night and they were STILL OUT OF ARTICHOKES.

Sadly however, it is a perfect illustration of the bland, banal, cookie-cutter corporate offering that we consumers have little choice but to accept.Service is perfunctory at best. Cleanliness of the store is sometimes marginal, and the aisles are cluttered with products stacked in the way, presumably to place them in a more saleable position. Rarely are there more than 3 checkouts open at once, even at peak times.This is what passes for normal grocery shopping these days. If there were a mom-and-pop grocery store available, I would most certainly go there first. Unfortunately theyve all been run out of business by the grocery super powers.

Items are deliberately placed so you need to travel the entire store to find anything. Nothing is placed logically. Paper goods in three different locations, toilet paper one place, napkins opposite end of a different isle and paper towels another place. Cheese in two different locations, Dairy case split in three locations. Product placement to trap you into miles of extra walking. Plus not enough parking.

Vons is working with albatross together. Friday is the best shopping here . A bag of shrimp is usually $25.00 but only Friday, this shrimp became reduced to $10.00 with member card and coupons. Good buy.

Always a problem when asking the employees for help shopping. I mean just like when I come in the door and ask for help getting my sodas(12 packs, 2 ltrs) in a basket so I dont fill the electric cart up with just soda. I am disabled and use electric cart to shop. Last time an Asian decent employee was very rude and said we have no help right now. I cant do this without some help. What would you propose I do for help?

This store is the worst store ever. The staff is rude, they are always understocked, and parking is almost non existent. Where to begin count on a nearly terrible experience with every step. Poor parking lot entry and doorway. Always homeless leaving an uncomfortable encounter in the corner of the entry. The stairs are not wide enough for 2 people to pass. Many customers and never, NEVER enough cashiers to handle daytime needs or nighttime always a line. The deli advertises open until at least 9pm its always closed before 8pm. Customer service has a sign open 10a-6p. I was told its closed after being told I could be helped. I have had it with this store in every way possible every time it is something closed, long line, out of stock or just dirty.

DO NOT GO THERE, RUDE STAFF, UNFRIENDLY AND DISRESPECTFUL. We were at starbucks, I needed to charge my phone to get directions back to my hotel. None of the power outlets were working so we connected it to the next outlet close to the elevators, Vons staff tried to retain my phone saying that we are not allowed to charge in their store. They didnt listen to our explanations instead an old rude latino woman said firmly we are not allowed, as if she was discriminating us. If I could put 0 stars to this store, I would be very pleased to.
