This location never fails to have their cashiers be unfriendly. On more than one occasion I have had an entire transaction where they never said a word. Not a “hello” or “thank you”. Their management must be poorly run because they are often loudly complaining to each other and once I was in a line where the cashier was so frustrated she left to go to the back and we had to wait for someone else to come to finish check out. People here are miserable and they she couldn’t care less an out customers or the often low stock, and even expired products they sell.

This review is solely for the bakery department in this Vons. They were phenomenal.I ordered a birthday cake over the phone and gave the basic details/theme (Hello Kitty) of the cake and the worker on the other end was extremely accommodating. The day I picked it up, we were blown away. The birthday girl absolutely loved her cake and it was delicious too. I just really want to give a shout out to whoever baked and designed it. It was great, thank you.

I’ll not forget this day. A customer came and returned the flowers and I was about to make the same purchase of 2 bouquets of roses (12pcs each). They JACKED PRICE DOUBLE the usual cost. These roses usually are priced at $20. But as it is valentine day tomorrow, they were selling at 100% price increases. these corporation should be ashamed of themselves. They are looting consumers, people are working two jobs to pay their basic bills as inflation continues to stay high. But the opportunistic American capitalist would not miss an opportunity to squeeze the working class. This is quite despiteful. I canceled my purchase and came back home.

Make sure you go through self checkout or avoid Vons all together. Cashier (lady with glasses) working lane 1 at about 10:40 on 2/7/24 needs to work on her customer service skills and how to communicate in a civil way. No one should be talked down to especially not a grocery store where I’m spending my money. Don’t think I’ll be back after that, much better treatment at sprouts or even Walmart

Called and just spoke to Diane who answered my phone call. She was rude and spoke over me and then when I brought it toHer attention she said it was so noisy in there that she felt she had to be loud. I told her that it didnt seem loud to me and I never asked her to repeat herself . I feel she just felt the need to cut me off when all I was doing was explaining to her that she gave me a wrong number .That concludes my option on the employee dianne a acting manager of Vons .Zion San Diego

Super high prices. Yet clean. No pharmacy. Out of rotisserie chicken. Meat dept no help. Long lines. Manager not helpful at all when I tried to return an item.I suggest using more than 2 lanes for checkout. Hire 1 or 2 more cashiers please.10-15 minutes in line is absurd.Go to Grocery Outlet and save 40%. I dont work there, I just like their prices way better.

Horrible customer service, long lines, and pricing is terrible. Avg price of goods here is often 15-20% higher than the Ralph’s down the street. The self check out doesn’t work half the time and forget about using Apple Pay. This is grocery shopping at its worst

So I stopped by today and as I was being checked out by Loretta whom was so kind and was concerned about when she’d be covered so she would be able to take her lunch Dillon comes by, she asks him and he rudely responds to her that she needs to wait 45 minutes until someone can cover her. There is a way to speak to coworkers and I say coworkers because he is not the owner of the store I assume. He stormed off with an attitude still addressing her in front of other staff and customers. I walked up to him and let him know there is a way to talk to people and what he did was definitely not it. As I’m walking to my vehicle I see him come out of the other front door of the store pushing and shoving a cart. Acting like a man child. I don’t know his position but just how he embarrassed her in public he should also apologize to her. Dillon needs to take a course or read an employee handbook!

The 1 star is for the black lady that was working in the morning at 12:10 pm in the Starbucks shop. I wanted to order something she could’ve just said they didn’t have it but she went on and on being condescending like lady just let me order something else but she was still going at it her name I think started with an A but I’m in a great mood just her approach was very aggressive.

Went in during the early evening & for a Saturday it wasnt as packed as I thought it might be. Store is clean, brightly lit up & quite easy to maneuver its aisles in search of your items. Employee @ cash register was very friendly & always wore a smile on her face for every customer next in line. Line was super quick which made shopping during the rainy weather a breeze 😁 did you get that? I tried to make a funny 😉

Well stocked and very clean! I love the bakery here, they have a great variety of all things sweet🥧🧁🍪 cakey🎂🍰 and chocolatey 🍫🍩!! The breads🍞🥐 they make in the store are amazing... light and fluffy and they melt in your mouth. Im obsessed with the 🥖 french bread and pretzel buns and I highly recommend trying them!!

Great location, easy to pop in for something quick or for a full grocery trip. Store is very clean, well organized, and busy!They have severl self checkout stations as well as friendly live cashiers.They have a hot foods and Bakery section that has a wide variety of treats, a good size fresh produce area with a well stocked selection, and a surprisingly nice select of fresh meats (Chicken, beef, pork).

Great shopping experience, the establishment is always neat, organized and clean. The aisles are labeled neatly and legible making your shopping experience less of a chore. Went there today for groceries and I had a cashier and a bagger, both older women talking bad about employees and their job. The bagger was an old woman with grey hair, complaining about management and bad mouthing the store. She was throwing my groceries around and gave me so much attitude. It ruined my entire mood. She got upset because I didnt want raw pork in the same bag as the fruit, she didnt even care that I was talking to her and she kept wanting to talk to the cashier about other employees. The cashier was Angelina L not sure about the bagger, she was old and bitter. It was 5:30 this afternoon.

Oh my God I was in line and the lady with a heavy accent shouts when she speaks to senior citizens and points her finger in a commanding way when she is explaining why her coupons dont work.Why is a cash register pointing her finger when she speaks to the guest. They have everything you would expect a large grocery store to have. Bakery, deli, florist, butcher/fish, a wine/beer/liquor section, and large selections of everything else. The only complaint is that they never seem to have enough lanes open to avoid a line of 3 or 4 patrons. Overall, a great go-to.

2 days before Christmas and per usual, one register open with 4 self checkouts. People lined up well into the aisles and past the Starbucks kiosk.Cluttered aisles, employees that kind of care and a congested parking lot. No thank you.Whoever manages this Vons needs to visit the Murphy Canyon or Santee or even the La Mesa location. They have actual cashiers that smile! The aisles arent cluttered with extra displays and the prices are reasonable. The parking lot isnt a nightmare.I avoid this location if possible but it is about 400 yards from my house.

Bought some heavy cream. Opened it it smelled like rotten eggs. I brought it back they told me to get another one and 2 more also smelled like rotten eggs. Every one of their heavy creams are rotten. This is a Vons. Isnt it supposed to be nice and kinda upscale? Because I went to Food For Less and bought heavy cream and it was completely fine.

The parking and tiny isles were rough. I was assisting an elderly lady and it was hard. Shes 90% blind, so it takes a minute to get through the isles and with crowds it was a nightmare. Widening the isles would be helpful if possible. Then there are the lurking homeless outside the store... not the ideal Vons in my opinion

This is easily the worst Vons in San Diego. The staff are so rude. There’s only one or two people at most working cash register. The shelves are never stocked. There’s never any basket or carts. Old ladie Employees are rude and racist to brown skin people. Line is very long, manager is racist dont have the stickers on the item to get when you are using a wic card. Store needs to be improved prices need to be low I will not be going to this store. Everytime I go to have a problem with them trying to use my wic card. Some of the cashiers are rude. This needs to be looked into and, the donuts are always looking nasty. They sit in the glass window and flies are flying on them.

This is the grocery store I love to go to! I drive an extra couple of miles just to come to it. The aisles are wide, there are plenty of options, no matter what youre shopping for, and theres also always a nice seasonal display with lots of things that can be useful during holidays or friendly gatherings. The store is well organized, and always clean. There are lots of people there to help if you have questions, or need assistance. I love to go up-and-down every aisle and see what they have, and always find everything on my list!

The staff here are very pleasant, but the store is on the smaller side and they seem to run out of stock easily and it doesnt seem like they can stay on top of the restocking. Of the seven yogurts I was going to buy, I could only get two because the other five were EXPIRED, and not by a day or two, but by two to three weeks. Gross! Will be stopping by again today to see if theyve restocked them. (It was two weeks ago when I bought the previous two.)

While everyone at the Bakery, Meat counter, Starbucks, and the registers were great and friendly, every time I need help at the milk/dairy area theres no one around, theyre always talking and ignoring customers, or running off when I want to ask about a product. This is my go-to market in the area since I moved here. Fresh items all the time, but they do tend to be more expensive in produce than other options around (farmers market and others). Their pre-made food options are delicious, specially their chicken varieties. I highly recommend joining their rewards program and download the app to get the best deals and discounts. Good alcohol and beer selection too. There are other Vons that have more items but also more traffic, that is why I prefer this store. All the people working there are great, from the person in charge of checkout to the people in charge of the food. They recently added self checkout options.

So overpriced. Things I can buy here are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper in other areas that are nearby but further away. My father went and bought stuff here as well and he said that he’s never going again because of the prices. I feel like I’m getting robbed every time I shop here because I know there are cheaper options, but, because we’re so close to that area, we tend to go there. Maybe there is a good reason for these prices, but it just feels like the price is for convenience more than anything else.Example:Orange juice (same brand, same size) from one store was $3.69. This store? $4.69.There is also a certain place which has really cheap prices with a membership. The lines were somewhat disorganized. Because there were 2 long lines with like 13 people in them, then like 3 lines with less than 5 people.- I think that the people in the long lines did not realize that there were other lines open and no one mentioned it to them.- I tried to let people know as I was standing in the short lines that there were more lines open.... But some people were... Not as receptive- it would have been nice if a store assistant or manager was expediting the flow of people or something to that effect- overall the seasonal plums were on sale and tasty

This Vons grocery store is fantastic. And has a lot of space and I was greeted immediately after entering the store. Justin was very helpful and knowledgeable about the products and location of the things that I needed. I came in to Simply buy some milk and some ham but I came out the store with the few more things overall the price of everything was reasonable and the service was great.

This vons has such nice people who work there I think that this was my 1st visit in a couple of years and while walking up-and-down the aisles I had to people who work there ask me if theres anything they could help me with. That is great customer service. It seems like they have a lot of items and its kind of packed in there with groceries but that being said it was pretty well organized. Always basic basic goods and frequent regular sales. Double some savings with the vons/safeway app and its gold because of their relatively late closing hours. Parking lot is big and roomy but usually pretty packed. Avoid coming during afterwork hours. They dont have enough registers and folks dont know how to use self check out efficiently. If you nab alot of things from discount section make sure you do not go to a selfcheck out cause you wont get the narked down discount.

They label gluten free! Honestly compared to other stores both chain and local the prices and options make it feel like a huge convenience store...which is kind of what it is for locals. The prices reflect how well they treat employees financially and Im good with that. The stores are always spotless and well organized. They give to community causes and treat customers right. I pre-ordered 1 lb of Virginia ham shaved and I was very specific about having it shaved in small pieces, when I got home and opened the bag i had regular slices that I could have gotten off the shelf!!! For the most part they have great customer service. There are one or two people that act like they cannot be bothered and no they are not special needs. I chalk it up to their having a bad year. May want to consider a change in career if they cant find joy in anything they do.I live how they employ special needs and I think those individuals do a wonderful job despite their anxiety and comfort level. My brother is special needs and wish he could have this type of opportunity.One option I wish there was more of is not from concentrate juices. Practically every juice is from concentrate. Probably for the longer shelf life.Otherwise I just split between Vins and Sprouts

Ive been shopping at this Vons for 25 years. In the last 5 years or so this store has gone downhill. The store is consistently out of products and the lines are way over crowded. It seems they spend very little money on keeping the store going, even though it is the only real market in the neighborhood. The salmon is always fresh and the chicken thighs or drumsticks are always available. Pair with my Vons app and just for u coupons I save a lot of money by shopping at Vons.

I absolutely hate that this is the main store in my neighborhood. The grocery outlet is awesome but they don’t always have the stuff that we need as a family and so I have to go to this Vons which is always crowded and sometimes you get in line forever while the employees are chatting. The older (50s?) male manager is VERY rude/curt to just about everyone (rude customers, nice customers, old folks, and his employees). If he hates the job so much maybe move?Starbucks is great the Australian girl and the girl with winged eyeliner are the bomb and super consistent and helpful! I went shopping here on Saturday 5/16. Immediately when I walked in I saw a customer without a mask. I walked to the deli area and told an employee. Right after that I noticed another customer without a mask by the Starbucks are talking to an employee and then walked to the back of the store. I asked another employee if masks were required and was told yes. I asked why the employee working Starbucks let the customer in without a mask and pointed out the other customer without a mask who was now in line. I did not get an answer so I left. I called to speak to a manager a while later and the woman I spoke to was rude to me and was clearly annoyed that I was complaining. She could not give a reason as to why the customers were in the store without a mask or why no one was checking customers as they walk in. Living where I do, I dont have much of a choice for grocery stores without a significant drive. So this place is sorta forced on me especially since my local Albertsons closed. This is by far one of the smallest Vons and during peak times the register lines are a chaotic tangled of people, carts, and display racks. Their saving grace is their hours, open 24-7. The staff are readily available and will make sure you find what youre looking for and more. My omission of 1 star is due to their checkout layout; it could and should be redesigned. Do we really need a Starbucks taking up so much space when there is one across the street?

The most frustrating point about this Vons is that there are never enough checkers, morning noon or night. Be prepared to stand in a line that can be 4-5 people deep. This has got to be one of the worst Vons in San Diego. It is so incredibly crammed. Most paths are one way. Some are too narrow to traverse with a cart, and I end up accidentally knocking into products and stands. They also seem to do inventory on the busiest shopping day of the week (Sunday), and as a result, entire sections of the produce department are walled off by giant carts of produce being restocked. And the poor, poor employees always seem so harassed and frustrated. My most recent experience saw my checker lady knock over an entire box of Slim Jims in her frustration, and drop a gallon of water while she was trying to throw all my groceries down towards the bagger. There was a line ten people long, queueing down the isle because there were only two lanes open... on a Sunday. Severely mismanaged.

Was in express checkout line with two items when cashier called for an additional checker. When additional checker showed up she asked for next in line which happened to be me. My wife and I went in to find Skewers to make smores with and Larry went out of his way to find the best match. I only go to this view vons when I have to. It is often poorly stocked, and that means that you have to wait for someone to get you a rain check. Yet often does not have enough checkers, and no one ever responds to the calls for threes a crowd. It wouldnt break my heart if they shut the store down and sent the employees to either early retirement, or two other stores to speed up those stores. I just moved to San Diego from the San Jose Bay area. In San Jose we have Safeway down here there is Vons. in the Bay area it doesnt matter what time it is it could be 2:30 or 3 in the morning or 4 in the morning there will always be a line of 15 people because they only have one register open and sometimes not even one register open. Vons is awesome, they take their clients seriously and get them in and out. Safeway is horrible, they hate their customers and they show it everyday. Vons is the main staple of the area . I recomend you go to the one next to WALLMART off aero drive by way of interstate 15 !!!Me and my wife call this one the BIG VONS, cause it is huge .

The store is older and the aisles are tight. They do not carry as many items as other stores. There are usually long lines and trouble navigating through the lines, to continue shopping.

It’s 2019 and they don’t have self-checkouts. If you’re in there buying a couple things, you’re at the mercy of the one express lane open with 10-15 people ahead of you.

I am not a fan. The lines are always backed up. At the most crowded times they are moving pallets into the store and stocking and then act like I am in the way of them. I will not be back.

The produce section is very lackluster. The Chinese cabbage was wilted. Oddly there was no spinach bundles, just pre-packaged baby spinach. Interior feels dated. Needs an update.
