So overpriced its crazy when youve seen stuff sell elsewhere for much less!!!! And the sushi area it should be sushi like food. 90% of the rolls is just fake crab meat made different ways. This was $5.99 for this tiny bit of seaweed salad! Shameful

Grocery prices are high but I love to shop here! Friendly service and Good Deli meat and salads. I cant believe theres a fireworks stand there and at Starter Bros. I think Fireworks should be illegal in California especially in the desert🥺!

This place never ceases to disappoint. The grab and go area of the deli sits empty most days and when there are items available, the selection is inconsistent and often a few days old. The staff at this location are far more interested in each other than in assisting customers. I have heard way too many foul mouthed gossip sessions between employees all while customers are looking for help. The front end is run with little to no regard for customer service. Most days, there are only one or two cashiers working with incredibly long lines forcing customers to self checkout with entire carts of groceries to scan. I cant count how many times I have just set my items down and walked out the door. Today was the last straw. The doors were being blocked by employees and security for no apparent reason. I am done. I much prefer the selection, atmosphere and consistent shopping experience at Albertsons in Palm Springs. Its nowhere near my home but I will drive there rather than return to the poorly managed Vons in Desert Hot Springs.

I want to give kudos to an employee in the deli at this location, I believe her name is Leeann W. She has really gone above and beyond to assist me the last handful of times I have needed help in the deli, and her courtesy has been a breath of fresh air that has improved my experience as a customer at this store. This week Leeann went out of her way to offer me different options when she was slicing my deli cheese to order. I wanted a thinner slice and she adjusted the cut until the slice was perfect, and then she went the extra mile to thoughtfully add sheets of butcher paper between individual slices to make sure they didn’t stick. I thanked her and said she seemed like she must really like her work; she responded that it was her pleasure to make sure that I was taken care of. She provided a level of friendly service and professionalism that you don’t see much anymore. She makes me think highly of the Vons DHS location and I will be back.

The only complaint I have is the baggers do not know how to bag groceries correctly. Even when we place the food how it should be bagged they still throw whatever with whatever. My eggs were under juices and cans and my produce is almost always really bruised from just being thrown is whatever bag. Its really frustrating to get avocados when they are so expensive and they are bruised and mashed before I can even get them out the store

Too expensive. Extremely rude employees. Their corporate office BLOCKS all complaints. Too bad we found their Board of Directors. Hahaha !! Their self-check out machines freeze up constantly. Went there today and the machines froze up 4 times on 4 different customers and the female associate kept walking away and chatting with other employees. And their bread selection was a joke. It was all that cheap, doughy Wonder Bread stuff and no healthy, grain breads at all. Vons is a joke !!

Why in the world would you put fresh fried Chicken in a plastic bag and seal it up not even a hole for ventilation. I waited in line for fresh chicken got home it was hot but soggy!!! We would rather have cold crispy chicken. The bag they put it in his for rotisserie chicken. We came last week and they put it in a brown bag and it was perfect. Stater Brothers puts in a box with holes. Heat and plastic do not make for a good crispy chicken. Disappointed

This Store deserves zero stars. I recently bought a home here in Agua Dulce so I shop here frequently. Yesterday evening I witnessed a black customer being racially profiled by an employee named Johnna. She came over to him in self check out and insisted that this man needed to remove his case of water from the shopping cart and scan on the counter as opposed to using the hand held scanner (That is made available to customers for this specific use). Everyone including the security guard told Johanna that he did scan the water and his other items with the hand scanner and that he had done nothing wrong. She actually said, “ You black people be stealing so I’m gonna stand here and watch you scan the rest.” Like I said, even the young man working security was confused. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. Why even have self check out if you’re going to treat people like that and discriminate? It was disgusting to watch. She was aggressive, nasty and wrong. I wish I would have gotten her photo to post, maybe next time. On second thought, I’ll try out Stater Bros for future shopping.

I always come to this vons and honestly lately the customer service is ridiculous except for a couple employees. I was being helped by a young lady who always has such a charismatic attitude always helpful. I was waiting patiently in line to ring myself up and Lashanna kindly started helping me because I had asked her about my just for u app I was watching her run around helping other customers at the self checkout lanes while she was helping me she was yelled at by a lady named Cristina telling Lashanna to help someone else why couldnt she help the customer? While Lashanna was helping myself and others. She saw she had been running around by herself helping everybody, I thought Cristina was very rude to her and unprofessional. Lashanna is always so helpful when I come to the store no matter what my problems are I appreciate everything she does for me and my husband. We come here during the winter months and have loved shopping at vons but it seems they are very understaffed and over work and even mistreat the staff they do have. Its unnecessary and unprofessional to scream at anyone mo matter the situation just like Cristina yelled at Lashanna. I dont understand why Cristina would scream like that instead of helping the customer herself. Maybe she needs retraining in customer service. Please look into hiring more employees and dont lose the good employees you do have.

Very disappointed on how they failed to make a cake while I ordered it two days in advance. I went to go pick up the cake and a lady kept asking me how does the cake look like i told her and she came back with the order paper and said im so sorry the baker didnt make your cake. She then tells me let me see if I can get you a good discount with my manager and the manager was just awful and didnt want to give her the discount that she was asking for so the manager said all I can do is 5 dollars off and to top it off I ordered two cakes not one but two one for Thursday and another one for Saturday like seriously I buy two to three time a month from the bakery and all the manager can do is give a 5 dollar discount . I pay way more then a 23 dollars for cake .

When I walked up to the checkout counter. The associate ( Bella) was visiting with the guy associate who was bagging the groceries. She kept her back to me and never did acknowledge me. She checked me out. But the entire time she kept her back to me. I am big on customer service. And this was extremely rude. She kept visiting with the male associate the entire time, like she was on her break. I am one of your regular customers and this has happened before with ( Bella) please let her know that this is not good customer service. There is a time and place for employees to visit. But not when they are checking out customers. Thank you.

Was at the register went to pay for my items bought 2 buzzball weren’t able to scan had told bagger that grab the buzzball from display so cashier can scan Ive worked there and all you had to do was take buzzball off liquor section that was right next to register was told by bagger Kane red hair black frame glasses what you want kudos cause you worked here told me I can bag my stuff myself and threw my grocery bag with my items in the bag into the shopping cart and walked away these young generations kids need to have more respect for customers and they’re items they are purchasing from a store they work … ask for manager told manager just addressed the Kane is his name but he really need to not be a bagger .. Having recently relocated from tye east to the west coast, Vons is a new experience. I was happily surprised to see a wide variety of products. Great produce and a decent butcher that is not limited in variety, but may be limited in quantity. Service has been great every time I have been there. Prices ever-so-slightly tend to drift toward the higher side, compared to some of its local competitors. But you do get quality products and this is California after all. You should always be glad when finished paying for your groceries in California that you were allowed to keep your first born!Vons - in a word: recommended.

We visited about 2 weeks ago and are from out of town . We stopped by thus location to buy snacks and drinks for our little vacation weekend.It was super busy and the manager took notice to my boyfriend looking around to ask a question and she quickly responded. She explained the process to obtain alcohol and while we were looking around I took notice she was able to still assist other members and employees in the meantime. I am a Service manager and I took notice of how efficiently she was handling things.She also personally assisted us and we chatted about our visit and she was so helpful and sweet. Very impressed with the service we experienced.

Weve shopped at this store exclusively since moving here 5.5 yrs ago. We know most of the employees and managers on a first name basis and feel like family when we visit. They always take very good care of us. Everyone is super friendly. We enjoy chatting and asking how theyre doing and they ask how were doing. Its the best small town experience you can get from a big box grocery store. We cant imagine shopping anywhere else.

The grocery store itself is nice, nothing fancy its clean and well stocked. However they should really teach the young cashiers how to be pleasant and at least say hello. None of us liked to work when we were younger but if you strike up a conversation it makes the time go faster. When the masks come off I hope they remember how to smile lol...

Vons does a great job. Unfortunately our local Vons has a problem that has made the experience of shopping rather less than the best; shelves are empty of standard goods a lot of the time. And it is just this Desert Hot Springs store that exhibits this problem, as every other store in our region seems to be much better stocked any time of the week that we shop. This has been brought to the attention of Management over the years with no improvement. Otherwise the staff does a great job.

Today I have had the most spectacular service in the past 37 years I have been shopping at the Desert Hot Springs location. Dylan at the deli. Was very friendly, quick, but most of all has made the best chicken artichoke sandwich I have ever experienced in any Vons. I felt the need to tell everyone I know to rush in there to have him make their sandwiches. I would had taken a pic, but it was so good all I have left is an empty wrapper. Thank you Dylan. Thank you to the person that trained him. Thank you to the management that hired him. And thank you Vons.Sorry to say Dylan is no longer there.

That cashier who helped me out was efficient. She was not pleasant she was not helpful when I dropped my credit card on the floor, she didnt smile or have a pleasant word. She did ring me up and asked if I wanted bags, though I couldnt really hear what she said maybe because of the Mask. I have to ask her what she said three times before I could hear what she said and I think that might be a clue that she needed to either speak louder or articulate a little better. So in summation, she was efficient but bordered on extremely rude and I felt quite distressed as I walked out of the store. For added information this was the monitor that was on the self-checking section in the Vons store in Desert Hot Springs. I had two items which were marked 50% off and therefore apparently she needed to ring up the entire cart.

This place vons is highly overpriced due to its gas reward hustle system. Grocery outlet has same products 20% less. And when Walmart gets built right down the street in a more spacious convenient non crowded location Vons will have 50% reduced sales. Vons would rather throw in away than bring prices down and feed the less fortunate. Check into their waste voucher reimbursement system. This is how keeping prices high doesnt affect them.

I shop here every day.I took my cart back from a long distance away. I always take my cart back!!! I went in to get a few wipes for my hands and car handle. The security guard said Wow, not so many wipes. I said We are in a pandemic. He said Never mind It was very upsetting. I tried to talk to a manager but no manager was there. Good produce section, slightly higher prices than Stater Bros, but I tend to only shop weekly specials and/or sales. Shop early in the mornings to catch manager specials on meat & perishable items expiring soon. Staff is friendly, Dominique, one of the managers, is especially helpful & friendly if you have questions.

The people are friendly and the prices are right.Update (3 years later): I shop at Stater Brothers now because even with my Vons Club card, I was paying an average of 20% higher at Vons compared to the same products at Staters. Additionally, Vons doesnt have a Butcher in their meat department their selection of fish, or beef or whatever doesnt even come close to Staters quality, price and selection. I still like Vons...but my wallet likes Staters more.

I am headed out of town tomorrow and ordered a Turkey dinner so I could enjoy Thanksgiving. I am still in shock on what was waiting for me. Everything was packaged in original containers that I could have bought in the store. I picked it up tonight and everything was stone cold. Takes 3 hours to heat turkey which had been frozen. Needless to say my husband and I never got to eat it. I opened the prepackaged mashed potatoes and they were horrible! I am just hurt and had no idea this store was that bad. This place has had its ups and downs but its gotten so much better over the past few years. I dont live in DHS anymore but my mother still does and we only go here. Stater Bros is still a walking nightmare. People are rude. Always some fight outside happening. Doesnt seem as clean either. Vons always looks great inside and out. Employees are great. We were there for Halloween and Christmas and everyone was sweet both times. Halloween they were even dressed up which was great!

Cashiers went above and beyond.Sometimes, logistics (a new system or new machine, a non-working machine, a new sale that a cashier wasnt aware of...) make tasks lengthier - (normally quick things, like redeeming and buying Lotto tickets, Monopoly redemption, alcohol purchases, honoring a discount and the like) resulting in a 45-60 minute experience that SHOULD take 10-15.People here and product stock is almost always great as is their selection of unusual items not found at similar supermarket chains.

Dont EVER have this store deliver food for you. They delivered to the wrong address and when I finally get in touch with someone they tell me it will be HOURS before I will get my order. I had a horrible experience before where they just left my food outside with no knock, no doorbell and no phone call and I found my food later sitting their ruined. I decided to give them another chance but clearly I shouldnt have. I definitely will NEVER shop there again.

Used to buy the fried chicken on Sundays, but three times the chicken had been dry or crust was too hard...so no more deli purchases. This place is great for last minute shopping or trying to scramble up something quick to eat. The deli sandwhichs are delicious and the bakery always smells like my grandmother is baking homemade cookies. It can be busy on some days but most days are pretty reasonable.

I am an older lady with multiple disabilities. I love Vons because they are so helpful. By the time I get to the checkout counter, my legs and arms have given out and I need help to unpack my basket. The whole staff knows me and helps in every way they can. They make me feel like family even putting my purchases in the car for me. If the workers dont see me for a couple weeks they are worried about me. I only go to Vons, no other store makes me feel at home in Desert Hot Springs. I love My Vons family. Thank you dear ones!

Great on-site bakery. Although there is a meat department, there isnt a butcher counter to select your own cuts of meat. Other grocery selections are limited due to the small size of the store. They have a threes a crowd policy for checkout lines, but they arent happy when you take them up on the offer.

Called an hour in advance to the deli dept. to order a sandwich. I show up and let them know Im there for a order pick. Every ones is confused as to what Im there to pick up. Then a gentlemen pops out from the side and picks up my order written on some paper and say i forgot to tell you guys. they offered to make it, the only problem is I only have a 30 minute lunch break. they dont have a sense of urgency there I have timed them before it takes them 25 minutes. This Vons, like many others, suffers from lines that are entirely too long. And this is despite their signs on every window saying Threes a crowd. If there are more than three people in a line, we will open up another checkout. Just now, at 9:15 pm, there were two lanes open and SEVEN people waiting in each. They did not open up any more checkouts, despite having at least six other employees that I noticed. Furthermore, they announced they were closing early at 9:45 when they are normally open until midnight. This is by no means an isolated incident, I just cant take it anymore.If Vons truly cares about its customers, they should do the following:1. Learn from Ralphs on how to open up additional checkouts, as needed, and ACTUALLY DO IT.2. Hire more people for their deli, or at the very least cross train the people in the bakery so they can assist when needed (I cannot count the number of times there were numerous customers waiting for deli assistance, no deli workers, and four people working in the bakery).3. Put in a few self-checkouts, so those people who have a few items do not need to wait for the people with full carts to checkout.These recommendations are really not hard to implement, if the management at all Vons, not just this one, ACTUALLY CARE.

Worst grocery shopping ever. The renovation of the store cannot have ben designed by a woman who shops. The signs that lable contents of the aisles are not in the aisle, but can only be read if you are in the front main aisle or the back main aisle, and those lables are DIFFERENT for the same aisle, depending on if you are reading the sign from the front or rear of the store.The groupings of foods make no sense. Honey is found with candy, not sugar; almond butter is with candy, not peanut butter, for just two examples.If you want to be confused and frustrated this is the place for you. Ordered groceries for delivery, which Ive done with somewhat satisfactory experience before. This time the delivery was scheduled for 5 to 9 pm Thursday, 5/3/18. At 8:30 delivery called to say they were delayed. They called again at 10 pm to say they were still delayed. I told them it wasnt a same day delivery - that it was a delay from the scheduled delivery from the prior day - and it was their fault!!I asked to speak to a manager and they continued to insist that they dont do same day deliveries. Apparently they didnt get it that this was not a new request for a Same Day Delivery, but a correction of a problem they created!I told them to cancel the order, give me my refund, and I would never use their service again, and intended to give them a bad yelp review.Use this service at your own risk. I had a busy day, an important dinner to prepare today and I have no groceries for it. This service is a complete waste of time. I like the store because it’s bigger than Stater Bro’s (but generally more expensive) and their customer base seems a bit more…”tame”. I shop an average of 6 times per month and 80% of the time they are out of something I want (last week it was…believe it or not…hot dog buns). Vons is about a 5 - 10 minute walk from my house and at the moment I have no car so I go there about every other day. Mostly every visit is a positive one. Vons gas program from club card. A lot of money saved using it. We have saved as much as $100 from a $500 shopping. Then take your club card to Vons gas station. Depending on how much you have shopped at Vons, you get reduced price on their gas. As low as 10 cents off per gallon and we have gotten as much as $1.80 off per gallon. Seriously, the gas program is extremely well worth using the club card. $60 to fill up SUV got as low as $34.00!!!!!!

I have shopped here at least twice a week for the last 9 years and it will continue to be my primary grocery store. The product selection is adequate for a store that is not a huge super-size. The in-store bakery is outstanding baking items as diverse as authentic baguettes, a variety of cookies, pastries, cakes, donuts and bagels. The service deli carries two excellent brands of meats and cheeses but, sadly, is always under staffed and waiting to be served feels like an eternity. Produce is top-quality and the staff is exceptionally helpful explaining differences between similar items and recommending items based on what you need. For example, with seven varieties of fresh peaches on display which is best for pie filling versus best for making homemade preserves. Finally, they have very little turnover in staff. They get to know you over time and really make you feel welcome...even though the store is part of a hugumongous grocery conglomerate.

They always have my Good Belly probiotic juice. Soooo good. I also like that they have $5.00 vegetable trays, for mixing in stir frys, taco toppings or beef stew mix. Just today was looking for Taipei Bang Bang burritos, the tall young man said he would try and order them. AWESOME.

Clean facility but the check out can take awhile. If youre here to use the Redbox machine be prepared to swipe your card 9000 times as the card reader doesnt work worth a damn.
