Everything at this store expires within DAYS.I haven’t wanted to make this review because I figured maybe the times I’ve run into this issue were flukes but I’ve literally stopped buying vegetables here if I can help it.The lettuce 8/10 times is bitter. I’m now buying from my friends at the farmers market and when I asked them why this happens they said it’s because grocery stores will usually keep things in the back fridge for a while and then put it out front.I believed them but I didn’t want to believe this is what Vons was doing.I’m writing this review as I’m trying to get through my salad which is bitter (and I buy the organic lettuce).The meat! Every time I buy meat it goes bad in less than a week. When I buy meat I have to dig through the back of the stocked items to get something that will at least last me 3-5 days but most things will have an expiration day of the next day or 2 days.Even tortillas only had a shelf live of 2 days.Furthermore, on my latest grocery run on Jan 7, 2024, I saw multiple items that were molding on the shelves. Pictures attached.It’s really sad that this is the closest store to me and I love all the employees they’re the nicest people ever but I might have to start going to Ralph’s or Trader Joe’s from now on because it’s been this way for the last 6 months or more.Idk if the manager is over buying / over stocking, but someone is buying too much product and not selling through it.PLEASE FIX THIS

Good selection of stuff from Vons. The watermelon was organic and fresh, the cookies and cream ice cream sandwiches were enjoyable, and the beer was good. A quick an easy market run, thanks to Vons.

I have been shopping at the Glendale Avenue store for 15 years. I have used the self checkouts since they installed them. So I was there tonight (my usual Sunday evening shopping) and after scanning my first item I was told it is now 15 items or less ( about as the sign says) the man working it,later finding out he was a manager, would not let me finish, he said I had more than 25 items which I had exactly 25 (7 of which were little 1 Oz bags of Cheetos. ) He was so rude about it,he made me go to the regular line,of which there was one open. He couldnt have let me finish and say next time use the regular line if I have more than 15 (about). Im done with Vons. I spend over 7k a year there and Im done. Ralphs here I come.

I like this Vons, its very well maintained, the staff is nice, its not often crowded and they have a complete selection of most of the stuff you need! Make sure you have a Vons card in order to get the best prices. Vons also has a great selection of steaks. The Ribeyes are great!

Stressful busy and the employees dont care to move things along. These conglomerate chains have jacked up food prices for working people even as supply chain issues have resolved. Yet this hasnt translated into investment for improving service.

My experience with VONS has always been a good one.The bakery selection and the chicken made is totally amazing. And I buy the 8 pieces very frequently.The cash counter staff are very professional and helpful.

Ive been coming to this store for 20 years, and Ive always appreciated it being a service to the community until now.Im now at the point where Im fed up. It feels like every time I go into the store, and I have to ask for a price correction from how the register rang something up and the pricing posted on the shelves. I understand that these things happen, but it doesnt need to happen time and time again.What matters most is that nobody was there when I went to customer service. I had to speak loudly, asking if someone could help me. After waiting a few more minutes, someone finally said they would find someone in Customer Service for me. After waiting even longer, I finally had someone come to the desk and tell me that the bakery products were always mixed up and the register was right. No smile, no friendly exchange of pleasantries... it felt more like I was being scolded for taking her away from her nap. I can honestly tell you that Ive had better customer service from the IRS.Time after time is the same thing. Wrong prices which always seem high compared to other places, long lines, poor staff attitudes. Ill be honest. Ill come to this Vons when I have to, but whenever I can (and trust me, I can, and I do), I will go to Ralphs, where these problems dont occur. Ill also visit Trader Joes, Jons, Food For More Less, and any other place I can think of.I realize that this can all sound trivial. But think about how often you go to the supermarket, how many times a week you go shopping, and think about how when its a frustrating experience over and over again. Im just done with Vons.If they did something tangible for the community, I think Id still be frustrated but have more patience. However, it seems that Vons is just a take, take, take environment without regard for the community. They take one extra dollar per customer a day. They take our time by trying to save a buck with fewer checkouts, and they make more money by raising prices; they dont mind if the register over charges you because most people wont make a stink over a dollar or two. Im just done with Vons.

My local Vons has pinched every penny and bleed every turnip under their cost saving measures. Their employees shifts are designed to insure you will always have to wait at the checkout or at the deli. They even stopped providing twist ties for fruit and vegetables bags. And they must have an aggressive drug testing program, seeing that I have never suspected an employee of being under the influence of any type of amphetamine.
