I went to this store with my Great grand kids to buy the ingredients to make homemade pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. At the register I realized I had pork Italian sausage and ran back to get the chicken. I had separated my order in 2, 1 for each debit card. When I got back the cashier was so rude, he had thrown my items to the side and mixed everything up. I looked at my food and the next patron had threw her dirty bags on my food. I went to move them with the divider and the cashier snatched it out of my hand and politely gathered up the bags and with a smile handed them to the next patron, a white lady. He was so rude to me, an African American and made a point to be nice to the white lady. My money is just as good as anyone else, and I deserve respect and good service too. Maybe all African American Females should boycot this store. Of course I complained to the assistant manager. Vons needs to respect the African American Ladies $dollar too. We spend a lot of money here.

Vons carries a large variety of products. The best days to go are Wednesday through Sunday as the store is stocked with the newly advertised items. Vons has the best beef. Vegetables are good too.

Little smaller than some Vons; but clean, stocked and had a decent selection considering its size. Really impressed with their savings club card. Lady in front of me had a savings of $23 and her cost was $17! I saved a little and I wasnt even looking for deals. Just got a couple items I need amd saved $5. Cashier was very friendly and I didnt have a long wait in line. Would recommend this Vons.

Vons/Safeway has been my go to for grocery shopping. This one specifically doesn’t always have everything I need but definitely most. It’s pretty clean and organized and they have a very kind staff. Everyone I’ve encountered has been helpful, especially Linda who helped me with the rental process for their upholstery cleaners. She was so patient and professional!

Are they serious? The manager Daniel D. He is completely complete incompetent? Extremely rude. How do these incompetent people have jobs? The older Asian lady in the counter is not fit for work. The deli counter refused to give food to paying customers so that they can take it home and eat it themselves.

Love that its a first quick stop by my house. Some employees are nice and some are alil harsh. Though I wish they had more on the spot baggers as well because I do buy tons of items and never see no more than 1 bagger. That would improve alot. Definitely love the new remodeled starbucks stand gives out better vibes since the holidays are here.

Vons has the friendliest staff for a grocery store. Now the staff of Vons truly represents the core people of Mira Mesa. Even though the Vons staff made a mistake, they apologize and still act very kind, nice and happy to see you. It is like Cheers. Everyone is happy to see you at Vons. The customer service area is also top-notched. They treat all people nicely and respectfully with no favoritism.

I had a very bad experience at the bakery counter at vons today.Today I went to Mira Mesa vons bakery. I asked for a cake and one of the old ladies working did not respond to what I was saying. Instead, she was pointing at something and speaking in another language. The young Lady working beside her explained very harshly that the cake I wanted was on one of the display tables, and that I didnt need to get it from the cake area in front of us. After I turned around to get my cake both of them started laughing and bickering in front of me. The customer service at Vons is usually great, especially in the bakery area... But the way the ladies were speaking to me in an agitated voice was very uncomfortable. I couldnt note down the names of the ladies, but I didnt like the experience I had tonight... Other than the bakery area, the cashier and workers in the aisles were great...

If you have not been to a grocery store this is one of them. I used self check out, it takes a bit to get familiar with. they should reward you with free bags not having to use a real person. I would give it 5 stars if free bags.

They seem to be more expensive then most stores but overall have a good selection. Make sure you check dates, I have seen a lot of expired or close to items on the shelf.Biggest issue for me is they have now started locking the bathrooms. Parent of young kids who give a 7 second warning before going, you will be locked out and looking for a change of clothes. I will drive a little further to shop then take that risk

The store has never felt relaxing. Just go get your items and check out. Self checkout is nice but can be frustrating. If you understand workflow you can see the poor programming. Its more annoying than the cashiers. Surveys, donate, sign up... Slows down the process and get annoying. Cant get the discounts if youre a child do to age discrimination.

Is my first time shopping at this location and had a really uncomfortable experience with Maria one of the cashiers, when I was paying for my groceries I selected the $60 cash back and she got very upset and stated that I should have asked her first before taping the cash back option, I apologized, and she insisted and continued telling me that I did wrong and that now she was going to have some else to bring her more cash because she didnt have enough in her cashier, she kept saying things to the point that became a bad environment, the situation was uncomfortable for me and the lady waiting behind me, I decided to avoid her attitude and ask for a manager to another employee, although the manager was not available at the moment. I grew up in a family with manners, and I was taught not to engage in unnecessary arguments, especially to respect our elderly.

Bad experience today at the store. Went in to get a few items, but the meat department had just closed at 530p because I was told that no one was scheduled to work it. Ok, I know labor has been tough to come by in this industry and retail, but 530p?My son needed to use the restroom which had a code. I asked a man with long blonde hair, I believe to be named Petra, who was stocking a cooler 15 feet from the bathroom, if he could let him in. Without even turning around, he told me to walk all the way to the front to ask a courtesy clerk.Did so. Spoke with Nick, who was extremely busy helping customers, but still extremely helpful and kind. He got someone else to walk all the way back to the bathroom to let my son in….All because Petra couldn’t be bothered, or just too lazy to to help a customer. I have 20+ years in retail and this is not what it’s about. More Nick’s, less Petra’s.

The store is clean and well stocked. But their shopping carts are a mess, I have yet to find one that rolls straight and doesnt make a lot of noise.The staff is generally good, but I have had to just tell a couple of the baggers to stop and step away from my groceries because they dont seem to understand a 2 liter bottle of soda doesnt go on top of a carton of eggs or a loaf of bread.If they fix the shopping cart problems and train the baggers better, I would give a much better rating.

I ordered items for my son who is sick with Covid. The app is horrible! I thought this would all be so easy to use being in CA. I’m in FL and order my groceries weekly. I’m able to add or change items until the order is completed, chat with the individual filling the order and add any additional info until the delivery. I don’t even know if this is the Vons that took care of my order. I googled the Vons closest to his address. Terrible service. I will find another store for any other orders. So disappointing. Please take these points of failure and correct them so other people do not have this frustrating experience.

Prices good with the special sales, just examine sales carefully, some require you buy a certain quantity.Pricey small box cereal $4.5+ cambell, soup $2, 1gallon water $2. Haha these reviews are awesome. Funny how things dont change. I watched a cashier get into an argument with a customer here too one night. We thought it was funny. The place now seems well lit and really clean. No comment on prices but now that I think about it, they were arguing about price and now Im remembering some other incidents. I guess a couple actually worked in my favor but would rather get what Im expecting at checkout than a surprise. This place isnt bad though. Sounds like theyve improved. I hate how they block the east door several hours before close. Really, how does this make sense from a business standpoint? Lets limit the entrance so we can try to make less money in the evenings?? Its stupid. Stop blocking that door and Ill give you an extra star.

I went to this Vons Mira Mesa Store to pick up a birthday cake around 7:30am. I found that the two personnel behind the cake display counter, who happened to be Marji, the bakery manager, and Stella, a baker, lacked customer service skills!It was apparent that I was standing in front of the cake display counter needing help as I was standing looking at the cakes and looking at them for about 4 to 5 minutes. While they were directly in front of me on the other side of the counter, they didn’t even acknowledge me and asked if I needed help. They were just talking and not even talking about business/bakery related.Finally, I asked for assistance which seemed Marji just ignored me. I asked for assistance again, then I got Stella to help me. Stella approached me BUT she was rather unfriendly. She made me feel like as if I was inconveniencing her for asking for help. The vibe she was projecting was very negative.The cakes are nice at this store but the employees, especially Marji and Stella in the bakery department lacked customer service skills. For Stella to be treating customer badly reflects on Marji’s management style or lack thereof.Please train your staff, especially in management to be self-aware. Your customers are your bread and butter. Treat them appropriately.Thank you.

I went into the the womans restroom with nothing at all and was followed into the womans restroom by a man that was trying to go into the bathroom while I was using the bathroom. And was standing by the bathroom until I got out. Then went into the womans bathroom to check the bathroom. I did not go inside the bathroom with anything. He was not the cleaning crew, was not there to clean.

Store was very busy but one thing I noticed is they did not have anyone sanitize and clean carts and when I looked for disinfectant wipes that most stores have to wipe down handle of carts there were none it was completely empty and a little dirty itself. During this time need to feel like its a little more safe.

We lived on the West Coast before. Prices vary from state to state. Overall this is a decent store. But being a thrifty shopper. It pays to look around for better prices. No a huge variety of vegetables. But if you are in a bind then enjoy your shopping.

Every time Ive been to this store Ive never found anything I was looking for in stock. And Im speaking of pre-covid days, not after the pandemic started.I also really dislike this Vons because all the employees Ive come across here were always rude or angry, and thats if I even found someone to ask for help. I already dont like approaching people unless I have no choice but I hated asking anyone for help in this store because most of the employees always looked like they were upset, annoyed, or like they hated being there. I dont think Ive ever had a pleasant trip here and I always found myself walking out upset or annoyed. Once again Im speaking of pre-covid days, so my experience is based on what happened before the pandemic even started.While Im not fond of shopping at any Vons in general, i try to avoid going to this location at all costs, unless Im really desperate or cant find what Im looking for. And if I need to come here Id much rather go to the Scripps ranch location than this one..I try my best to be as fair as possible when rating places I visit but after having one unpleasant interaction after another here I honestly just cant bring myself to lie.

This store can be replaced with a vacuum. It SUCKS! Employees are extremely rude, prices are wrong. The employee break room seems to be the tables in front of the store. These are always full of employees smoking. I once bought lunch for my kids and myself and we were next to a bunch of employees smoking and cussing. I went to buy soup from their soup bar only to find burning scraps on the bottom of the soup bin. The fried chicken must only be cooked once a day, it always looks burnt and dry.Ill drive to Arizona before I shop there!The manager must be a horrible leader, it all starts at the top.

The prices are a little higher than the big box stores but very reasonable. The Vons personnel helps a lot but the Vons Android app and self checkout systems are the worst. Items that are free would not work. Thank God for the in store personnel but I see other shoppers having the same problem. Items that are free must be accepted by the self checkout system else why would the Android app say so. This needs to be fixed else shoppers would not come back and shop.

Vons, like Safeway up in the Silicon Valley - San Jose region, has large stores and a fair bit of variety. But this location, while having mostly friendly staff, is lacking a lot of items (mostly frozen food items) that were easy to find in Safeway.The prices down here have also been cranked up as of about August on dozens of items -- sometimes $2-3 more since June. (Although the Safeway used to do this yearly, too.) So there are now about 2 dozen items I used to buy regularly at Safeway that I dont bother with at Vons. Cheaper options abound within 7mi radius.The interesting thing is that the two other Vons in the region dont have consistent sales on prices on items, and non seem to be 24-hour stores. But at least this one closes late (1am) and opens early (6am).

All I saw you doing was standing there watching the self check outs. Maybe you should ask for an easier position if you need one. You could be a greeter at the door. And what is your job? There is either too little to no ventilation at the butcher shop which makes the entire place smell very much like burning bone thats so bad I cannot even go to the vegetable section or 4 rows past. The prices are horrendous, they gouge you wherever possible for example the snickers natural jam is 6.39 versus 2.69 across the street at Target (As of today Nov 27, 2017). They do have an excellent fruit and vegetable section if only I could make it that far into the store...

So mediocracy is fine for this Vons store.On a 1 to 5 scale:5 - Selection of items: I can always find what Im looking for along with a few other goodies and things to snack on5 - Parking: huge shopping mall so theres plenty of parking.1 - Cashiers: There arent enough cashiers. The last time I was here was Wednesday night before Thanksgiving around 10 p.m. So you can imagine that everyone is getting their last minute Thanksgiving items. One would think that management would add extra cashiers. Nope I think there were only 2, maybe 3 lines going, with at least 10 people waiting in each line.

I despise this location. Slow, rude, and uncaring employees. Granted, there are a couple of younger guys that work in the seafood and product departments who are super friendly and helpful. They rarely have the items on their Just for You deals and $5 Friday is a joke. Theres one cashier that was so incredibly rude to the woman in front of me a couple of days ago--she even held her finger up in the womans face and yelled, Hold on! Yeah...I wish this werent the most convenient location for me because I really dont enjoy shopping here at all.

The new gravy wasnt on the original receipt and I told her I was buying it. I want to give my Thanks to Vons Assistant Manager Mr. Mark Davis. This kind gentleman took his time to help me set up and test the Vons app. And to also access the Just 4U app. I was about ready to abondand my full cart of groceries, because the Vons stores app and the promised savings were just not working. I tried everything from reset and restart these two apps. With no luck getting the Vons or the Just 4U working. lm going to getting the Manager and hell see just how frustrated I am. Its the same type of state-local big box grocery store thats everywhere. What I *do* like. They have decent sales and a little bit of everything and Vons bakery dept items are ridiculously delicious.What I *dont* like. The store is cramped, the aisles are too narrow, everything is overpriced so when they go on sale *thats* the price everyone else sells that particular item at. Most of the checkouts are usually open yet its normally a 30 min experience just waiting in line for the register after an hour of semi-gracefully dodging other customers barreling through the store. The cars are too big to navigate an uncomfortably packed store and after my fifth near run over of a toddler I stopped using them. Others must have reached this same conclusion because there are never any baskets unless you stalk someone to the register and pretend your awkwardly looking at candy or magazines until they glance away and you can snatch it and hobble away as quickly as possible without beautifully ramming your face into aisle shelving or another person. Hmart down the road, legitimately, have better bigger fruits and vegetables at better prices but Hmarts parking lot is a horrific nightmare.Tl;DR Vons is like when youre switching class in high school. Its packed and you have no choice being there because its the closest place with tomatoes that dont cost $5 for two small ones. Im looking at you Target...

Need to train and update their employees how to process WIC program specifically, my friend had the worst experience for the second time although she lives near by the store but she always go out of her way to 15 miles away to go to Ralph’s so she can shop there with no hassle, fast checkout with no problem every time, every moth. When she decided to go toVONS next to her house, she was chocked when the employee to her they’re not trained to process the WIC and kept calling one manager after another to see how they can fix the issue but after a whole one hour and 4 managers tried with no luck and waisted her time, she had to leave her groceries and all she got is sorry about that.

Going back to tell them is a nightmare where you will be standing there like an idiot for up to 30 minutes only to maybe get the price difference if it wasnt mislabeled/mispriced. I don’t like to write poor reviews but unfortunately I had a poor experience at the Vons on Mira Mesa Blvd. I have been ordering my kids birthday cakes from Vons since I moved to San Diego 20 years ago. I ordered my youngest sons 16th birthday cake only to find out his name was spelled wrong. Unfortunately I was not the one who picked up the cake so I did not see the incorrect spelling until it was brought to the restaurant. When I went to get a refund the manager on duty Jennifer argued with me that my husband knew of the incorrect spelling and she credited him $5. I showed her a copy of the receipt showing there was no credit and then she proceeded to tell me well they scraped off the name and corrected the incorrect spelling of the name and fixed the problem. I then showed her a picture of the cake taken at the restaurant with the incorrect spelling of the name and showed her a copy of the picture I took of the order slip with the correct spelling. After losing all arguments Jennifer then told me in order to give me a refund I will need to bring in a piece of the birthday cake. She said “I’m sorry it’s company policy”. I couldn’t believe it ... I was disgusted with the request but said okay I will bring a piece of cake tomorrow and confirmed what time she would be working. I returned the following day and Jennifer once again continued to argue with me about the details of the misspelling of the name. Trying to remember because she had another cake they messed up the same day with the spelling of the supposed same name and seemed confused. Jennifer requested to see my pictures again (picture of the cake, receipt, and order slip showing how the name was supposed to be spelled). After I showed her everything she then told me “oh you paid with a credit card. Do you have the card?” I said no. I was not the one that picked it up. She then tells me well I’ll need the card. At this point I was livid. Vons is the one that messed up in the first place. Birthdays only come once a year. It was a special birthday since my son was turning 16. Instead of being apologetic and sympathetic Jennifer was defensive and arguing with me the entire time. I can’t help but feel she was treating me differently than she would another customer. The number of times we had to visit the store began the day we ordered the cake, picked up the cake, returned for a refund, returned with a piece of cake and now to return again with the card used to get our refund. I am certain Jennifer had the ability to make things right the first day I came in. However, Jennifer made something that should have been easily resolved more complex because she lacks customer service skills and the ability to put the customer first. It’s unfortunate after all these years the service has gone down hill and in this case over a piece of cake. This is a great example of why I started going out of my way to shop other Vons stores in the Scripps/Mira Mesa area. I never complained before but this was unacceptable.

This store is to crowded. They moved the aisle ten feet from the registers allowing no way through. If three people are in line, they are backed up in the aisle. It a mess. It was a great find because I had been looking for a Starbucks that had the San Diego cup for the Starbucks Been There coffee mug series. At the time of this writing this is the only full grocery store in Mira mesa. Even with little competition they offer a good range of products at fair prices.

I’m commenting about the FedEx pickup site, not vons. Very bad service at the FedEx pickup site. Didn’t even look for my package, and claims my package is not there. Can’t imagine that person could work at a pickup site, very rude! Ridiculous!

Californias version of Safeway! Clean and well stocked, was disappointed we were unable to find some pork green chile sauce....really this is southern California after all.
