I have lived at this complex since 2009, never have had a complaint until now... trying to reach the office by phone? Good luck... Email? No response... What is going on VDL management? Get it together, this is so disappointing.

This is a lovely community to live in. The leasing office staff is very professional. Tayler worked with me on my lease, and is always a pleasure to deal with. The grounds are well maintained, and the maintenance staff has always fixed any issues that are needed.

Ads said this was a pet friendly location. Six months after moving in, I was informed that my daughter’s dog, who is here 50% of the time, will cost me $500 plus $60/month rent increase. I feel duped and have no recourse other than to post here so others are forewarned.

José helped fix our garbage disposal, he is very friendly and efficient. He has helped work on other maintenance projects at our apartment and it is nice to see an employee with familiar face.

I was fortunate enough to sign my lease with Vista Del Lago Apartments this weekend. I moved in today, February 26th, into a perfectly clean apartment. I’d like to take the time to give a shout out to the leasing professional who shepherded my family through the whole leasing process; her name is Tayler Hernandez. Tayler is diligent, kind, gregarious, and thoughtful. She was very refreshing to work with as she made sure our wants and needs were met. Tayler was clear about the leasing contract and took her time to assist us in setting up our utilities. Five stars to Tayler for amazing customer service!

We had a problem with our water heating system and Jose responded immediately. He replaced what’s broken and fixed it right away so we can enjoy hot showers. Thanks to Jose for quickly responding to our concern.

Quality of life has consistently declined since we moved in, but rent has always gone up by the maximum CA law allows. Our lease includes a covered car port, but we havent had one in over a year. Management keeps saying it is temporary, but the city says Vista del Lago has never bothered to apply for a permit to rebuid them. Seems like if they ever genuinely planned to replace them, theyd have done the paperwork in advance. As far as I can tell, theyre just lying and stringing us along to avoid admitting theyve failed to provide an amenity listed in the lease agreement.

This neighborhood has been on a steady decline since I moved in late 2020. We pay for our carport space as part of the lease, but they had the carports torn down over a year ago and still have not rebuilt them- citing weather/scheduling issues (although they had no issues building a new resident lounge that nobody cares about). The mailboxes used to be close to respective buildings and easily accessible, but they recently moved them which has created traffic blocks and a ridiculous distance for some residents to walk to check their mail. Lack of parking has been an ongoing issue, its been months since theyve had a patrol company enforcing, and the guest pass system is a hassle. There is constantly dog poop and trash in the grass areas, the landscapers blow debris onto our cars and patios every week, and the sprinklers are constantly broken and showering our cars. There are rats and bugs. There have been car thefts and sketchy people hanging around. They repainted the buildings, but it was very sloppy and did not improve the look of the place. All of the weather proofing on the windows and doors are falling apart and need to be replaced. In the units, they have low-cost, outdated appliances and finishes, sloppy paint and handiwork and they barely keep up with regular maintenance. All of this (and more), and they raise the rent each year.Honestly, I have overlooked all of this for the past couple years but now I have an ongoing issue with Equity Residential. There was a major leak in an adjacent apartment that caused my kitchen and dining room to flood on 6/18/23. I had to use all of my own towels and rags to keep the water from spreading and damaging my furniture while I waited 4 hours for maintenance to clean the water out. I told 3 people over the next week to make sure and be thorough to prevent mold because I have a health condition and mold can be extra dangerous. For several days after the flood, they were in and out checking for moisture and redrywalling certain areas. Each person coming in was clueless and I had to provide direction and practically manage the situation for them. I was patient and accommodating despite being consistently told that my apartment was the least affected and therefore not a priority. Unfortunately, they still had not repaired the leak or dried the moisture thoroughly enough because I discovered black mold in my coat closet (shares a wall with kitchen) 3 weeks later on 7/6/23. I had started noticing that I was having trouble breathing and was coughing a lot if I spent time in my living room. So I did some investigating, and after clearing storage out of the closet, found that the carpet was completely damp and mold was growing up through the carpet from the flooring below. The whole closet was a toxic cloud and made me sick with symptoms for weeks. I had to stay in a hotel for 9 days with my toddler and dog while they worked in my apartment. (all that was the short version to summarize what happened!)I have been communicating with the leasing office, requesting the minimum amount of reimbursement for this nightmare, especially for the rent I paid while the apartment was legally uninhabitable. They are giving me the run around and are not taking accountability for their failures. It seems they are hoping I will just move on eventually.I hope this helps someone make the right choice when looking for a place to live.

In 2019, I moved in and gave Vista Del Lago a 5 star review. Over the past two years or so, the management of this complex has severely declined and we will not be resigning our lease again. The leasing agents and the maintenance staff are wonderful, which is why we have stayed so long. I am leaving an updated review in hopes that Equity Residential hears the numerous complaints and changes.
