Redding doesnt have a lot of high end food options in my opinion. However, I think View 202 meets the criteria to be called such. The presentation is solid with many great menu items. Drinks are phenomenal and of course the view. They definitely need to get the outside pizza oven going again and the fire pit also. 👌

Went the day after Valentines Day and really enjoyed the experience overall! Our waiter was awesome and checked in often, the food was good (it did take a while to get however) and this place is really beautiful and picture worthy. There were just a few odd things that seemed out of place in such a fancy establishment. For example, 2 sinks in the restroom but only one soap dispenser because it was ripped off the wall. Also significant wear and tear on the seat cushions were a but uncomfortable on my legs.....Still love this place, will always come back for great food and beautiful views ❤️

Steak was overcooked . I asked for a steak with blood and it was well done. Food didn’t have a flavor it was just simple . But Ice coffee was good . Overall service was ok, took them about 30 -40 mins to bring food.

First time trying View 202. We went on Sunday after church around 1:00 pm. Very nice looking place, the A/C was wonderfully cold. Only problem was standing in the lobby with no service. Checked the bar, 2 customers seated, but no bartender. Checked the dining area, 5-6 tables seated inside, 2-3 outside, but no servers or employees in sight. Called the restaurant from the lobby. The phone in the lobby rang, but of course, no answer and nobody came to answer it. Waited 5+ minutes, kept checking the bar and dining area. Finally saw a female server taking an order, but couldnt get her attention short of interrupting her order, so I didnt bother. Eventually we left and went to Mosaic. Disappointing... Can they not afford enough employees to work with the prices they charge? We may try go back and try again someday but I dunno, as Im really big on service.

We are from out of town, looked at a couple of nice places for my 21st birthday celebration, and chose view 202. Server was wonderful, he was great with recommendations and getting us our food + drinks. only issue we had was the steak in the picture. it was undercooked and it came out all cold. they were kind and understanding with refunding and offering a free dessert. Just was expecting a nicer meal with the price of the food.

Our experience followed several of the recent reviews. Waited an hour for our food, when it came out the waitress said they’d burnt the first pizza so she had them remake it. That was nice but in the meantime the burger my wife ordered got cold and stale. Everyone was really nice and the view is great but the whole experience left a little to be desired, especially for a higher end restaurant.

Great views, for Redding. Service is polite, but s l o w. ..Waited so dam long for our waiter the food was gone. Taco Tuesday, first order was 3 big tacos, then they throw something together for the other customers, four small tacos. I don’t mind small tacos, but being at a restaurant that has no confidence in its own business as to have enough food for a full house turn out makes me uncomfortable. The house was very much under half full. I have always enjoyed the view, and the food has always come under debate. Stop trying to be pretentious, and just try to be successful.

The view is great, and I mean the view of the river. The only problem is that the trees have grown so much it is hard to see this time of year! We love sitting outside on nice days and just having a few drinks and some food. Try the fried calamari and some local beer. When in season, the cheese plate is pretty awesome. They have great mixed drinks and a really good wine menu too.

Amazing place for dates or a girls night out! Kind of pricey though so check out the happy hour menu from 2-5pm if you’re on a budget. Burger and fries are a good go-to if you’re unsure. Beautiful patio and view is one of the best in Redding!

I went there for the first time for my birthday dinner. Mariah was our waitress, she was amazing. She went through all of the gluten free options and substituted the crustini with their cauliflower pizza crust so i could have the baked brie cheese board. If your server is Phillipina and tells you the flan de coco is amazing. Believe her. The best I have ever had.

Second time here. Definitely recommending to all. The food was amazing. A must visit when in Redding. We ordered calamari, grilled watermelon salad as appetizers, Sea bass and chicken marsala with gnocchi substitute for the fettuccine. Portion size is perfect. Everything was wonderful.

I had a wonderful late dinner outside on the patio. It was one of the first rains of the year so it was a bit colder than we expected. Since it was the first “colder” night of the year the staff didn’t have propane for the heaters or fireplaces. I don’t fault the restaurant for that though.The food was very good, I cannot complain about my dish at all, same with the drinks as they were all prepared well. Service was pretty quick and very helpful as well.

This visit had a couple issues. We usually devour the pesto dip that is normally served before the main meal. This time, we had to ask for it and when it finally came, the pesto dip had no flavor! I dont know how this happens? Its pesto! The bread was good. 2 of us had the black garlic tortellini, it wasnt horrible but just too salty. The kids enjoyed their pizzas, the teenager loved his linguini with chorizo and shrimp, and my daughter seemed to enjoy the tuna tartar. The service at view 202 is generally slow, in part that they are short staffed...I think...the other part is to let you eat at your leisure and they dont rush you. Sometimes, its a little slow to get the things we need. Overall, we still love View 202.

Went in for lunch. The fish and chips were very greasy, I also wonder when the oil was last changed. The coleslaw was wilted/soggy. Also, ordered was a chicken sandwich. It being flavorless, served cold, considerably greasy, and definitely not reflecting the price. The staff were warm and welcoming, no issue with that aspect of the service.

The atmosphere is modern and wonderful. Indoor and outdoor dining. Our server Lani was fantastic. She was kind and professional. I dont know if its due to COVID-19 or what but Ive taken notice that servers tend to be more attentive and wonderful these days. Rarely now do I come across a bad one, however some stand out above the rest. Lani is one of these in the upper percentile. Our food was prepared with the utmost care. I had the BBQ chicken brick oven pizza, it was clearly fresh and delicious, my GF had the blackened chicken sandwich which was tender, juicy, and had layers of flavor. For dessert she enjoyed the seasonal fruit creme brulee, I tried the coconut flan. I am not a fan of flan, I do try it from time to time, so when I tell you it was amazing, I mean amazing. Absolutely the best dessert Ive had in years. On the one hand I wanted it to last forever on the other I couldnt stop taking bite after bite until it was gone. Summary: Clean restaurant with great modern atmosphere, top notch service, top quality dining, and I do believe I may become a regular here. If for nothing more than the amazing desserts. Thank you for the fantastic experience. 5* all the way

We had great service. The food was so very good. In fact I would say mine was excellent. It was our 47 anniversary and they even left a card wish us a happy 47 year anniversary. Brought my adult children and wife to dinner right after Christmas. They live out of town. Very disappointing. The atmosphere was great. The server was polite, but the bread and food was very slow. Worst of all, however, was the food. All six dishes were somewhere between awful and below average. The better dishes were vastly overpriced. The bad dishes were criminal. In particular, the Caesar salads with salmon and chicken were tiny with wilted lettuce and undercooked salmon and overcooked chicken and strange Parmesan discs. The butternut squash came with a bizarrely sour sauce that was not good. The fried chicken was unrecognizable under a strange muddy sauce. Overall, very disappointing and very overpriced. Oddly, I’ve been to View 202 many times before, and it was much better. Maybe it was just a bad night, but I’m unlikely to go back again to spend $250 without alcohol for food that was worse than fast food.

Went to their first brunch and there was a few hiccups.. my mom got the completely wrong order but me and my man got our food and finished before she got hers. Bacon was completely underdone. However our waitress was incredibly sweet & made sure we got everything right. Food itself wasnt all that though. Sticky buns were the best part for sure. Service 10/10 food 3/10. Are about 8 year old not going to View 202,do to lack of service, I saw a post on Social Media about there Happy Hour. So I decided to grab friends and give it another try. Mistake on my part. After waiting 10 minutes to be great at the hostess station, we still were not seated. Finally a nice bus boy seated us on the patio,( that was only 1/3 full, w/an empty indoor restaurant). We then proceeded to sit at the table with no acknowledgment form anyone for 45 minutes. As we watched other tables being sat after us, receiving drinks and appetizers. Still with no service. Finally a person at our table got up, went and found a server and asked who was to be taken care of our table? as we would like to order. Once are ordered is taken it takes longer than expected for 3 simple appetizers to come out. As we continue to watch new people being seated and receiving drinks and food before us, even with our order being placed before them.Never were we offered a refill on water. Could barley get a 2nd Drink. I would recommend the Orange Glazed Edamame & the Strawberry Shipwreck! The Tuna Tartare is underwhelming and the Tropical Scallops we not good.for everyone at my table this is the last time we will go to View 202. We left and completed our night at a different restaurant with amazing service and food.

Went for valentines day and we werent told there was a set menu consisting of 6 items til we were seated already. $150 for tiny portioned, flavorless food. I was at least expecting regular sized portions for the appetizers/entrees. we got the charcuterie board and it was about 1/4 of the size of the normal board. the pasta was bland, filet mignon rubbery, and the chocolate mousse cake was still half frozen. our waitress was nice at least. really disappointed and feel insanely ripped off.

We made reservations for a Sunday brunch in advance, for a birthday celebration and it seemed the restaurant wasn’t ready to accommodate. There weren’t enough menus available. Wait times for drinks or anything was very long. Finally our food was brought out and the server didn’t know what some of the dishes were. 1 order was completely missing and 3/4 burgers we ordered were burnt to a crisp. Our original server was very polite and professional and comped the burnt burgers and gave us a bottle of champagne to redeem the poor quality of the food.

Dear chief, you need to throw your oil away and start cooking fresh and simple food, that would taste like food, not oil, so many ways to cook, it can be baked, grilled and steamed etc. The menu definitely needs to be improved. Otherwise there is a potential concerning location, but there is so much you can grow. Hope it will help you for positive changes.

Went as a large party for a bridal shower brunch. We called like 1-2 months in advance to reserve. We got there right when they opened and got seated outside in July, which was HOT. The view outside was okaay. We were seated in a corner that they warned us when we arrived that there were spiders and spider webs. That they tried to get rid of webs as best they could. Well, their best was not enough. As we sat and waited for the server, there were spiders crawling all over us and hanging down from the ceiling. I expected more cleanliness with a restaurant being on the higher end. Especially when we called far in advance they still couldnt even clean the area for us. Goes to show how unprepared they were.When we ordered a round of shots for the whole party, they brought out shots that were very inconsistent in amount. Like it was very obvious to the point the waiter pointed it out in front of us. We had to even them out amongst ourselves. I dont understand why the bar couldnt have poured more consistent amounts when the restaurant wasnt even busy at all on a Friday brunch. Again, goes to show how careless they are. Definitely not high end restaurant worthy and definitely not worth the hype.Other than that, the food menu is pretty small. Kind of favored towards vegans/vegetarians. There were no complaints about food from our party. They forgot an appetizer we ordered.

BEWARE for the hidden CC Fees. The manager told us it was posted in front, but nothing in sight. Despite the long wait times for food and the subpar quality, the manager said the owner charges a 2% credit card tax on all customer bills. Also, when I received the bill, my charges were $168. Then my AMEX sent a message saying they added an extra $10. So the hidden fees were added AFTER the initial bill. Damn yall, even ARCO charges only $.35 on debit. Filed a complaint with the BBB.Chicken sandwich was straight grease, salads were overloaded with dressing and charcuterie plate was $33 with two types of meat with cheese. Half of that was definitely from the gas station down the street. No thanks. 1 star for the owner not hiring more staff to help. 1 star for the owner trying to scam people. 1 star for food.

Such an amazing Lunch experience! My wife and I came here to celebrate my birthday and from the very beginning it was an awesome experience. Friendly staff, easy to read menu and an outstanding selection of Wine, Cocktails, and Craft Beer. I had the Fish and Chips as I always do on my birthday, and I can say that it was easily top 2 best Fish and Chips Ive had. Best in Redding for sure. Our waitress was phenomenal and made sure we were well taken care of. Every single plate of food that came out smelled absolutely amazing! Then you add the Breath-taking view of the Sacramento River and Trinity Alps from their outdoor patio and this is easily my favorite place In Redding to grab a high quality lunch. Food, Drinks, staff, and atmosphere were all top notch! Id highly recommend this place to anyone. We went there for our 17th anniversary dinner date. I was excited to go since I had never been. I had heard mixed reviews about the service but that was when it first opened, so I figured they worked out the kinks. We arrived early for our reservation to have a drink at the bar. The bartender was friendly and great with his recommendations. When it was time for our reservation we were seated at our table on the balcony to eat while the sun set. I was excited to try the food since I had heard nothing but good things. However, we sat there for 30 minutes and nobody came to our table. We watched others be sat around us and promptly greeted and served, so we decided to leave. We kindly let the bartender know he was great and headed out. Well, here we go. Our hostess was great. Our server was also the bartender, which shouldve never happened. The time we spent wondering if we actually had a server was about 20 minutes before getting drinks. Then another 20 minutes before getting said bartender to actually acknowledge that we were seated and take our order. They were not real busy, Food was ok . Unfortunately we used to love this place for the service and patio seating. Wont be back due to poor service. Dont have your bartender be a server if they cant handle both......

Pictures show the Orange Crème brûlée and Garlic Honey Salmon. The brûlée was absolutely divine, 5 stars. So creamy and delicious. The salmon was done very well. Added lemon made it almost sweet. Very well done with how it was prepared. The rest of the plate could have used some attention, which it eventually received. The rice was undercooked, and tinted an orange color from the diced bell peppers that were not supposed to be in there. There was no garlic taste to the garlic rice that was supposed to be there. There was supposed to be a roasted red bell pepper on the plate, didnt happen. The cooks decided that they wanted to put Brussel sprouts on my plate which didnt belong either. View the circled item on the menu picture. You will see why I was frustrated.A restaurant of View 202s status should not be making mistakes like this with a customers dish. They are one of a few 5 star style restaurants in our area and these shenanigans should not tolerated by their guests. I did speak up to my server, Emily, who then went and got the manager. Their management staff was on point with doing whatever needed to be done to fix the problem. That should not have had to escalate to that point, but their chefs/cooks should be doing what is ordered, not freely doing what they want to do with these dishes.Overall my experience was positive. The atmosphere is pleasant and soothing to dine in.I do highly recommend that reservations be had prior to your arrival. Seating will be limited if you do not.I will be attending this establishment again in the future, hopefully with better results from their cooks.

My husband and I dont get out much for dinner and when we do, we tend to be fairly harsh critics. We hadnt been to View 202 in many years, but having received a gift card, we went. Helpful and nice, without being fake or annoying, as servers can sometime be in order to get a good tip. Needless to say, his service is what earned his tip. CC Fee was added recently per the owner according to waitstaff.-sticky menus, we had a total of 4 menus--drinks, food, etc and all had sticky residue. theyre laminated and ought to be wiped down regularly.-bathroom was nearly out of TP, and the chairs under the vanity in the womens bathroom looked not only outdated, but stained. maybe just remove them?-general wear and tear.. inside of the restaurant could use some love and TLC. the window seat we had was dingy and the wood under the booth in the lobby looks like it needs paint, or to be refinished. Just looking around, theres quite a few areas that caught my eye in being dirty or worn out. if this is the acceptability of the restaurant/lobby, what does the kitchen look like?!...If I am being honest, I probably wont be back for another 3 years, but its not because the food is bad or the service is inattentive. The people working there are wonderful, I just have to wonder how much the owner is invested because it would appear they are cheapskates who have no interest in maintaining the lovely space.TLDR; they portray themselves as fine dining & are clearly out of their league to anyone who has experienced upscale dining, even in Redding.

Wonderful! Everything from the service to the drinks and food were better then on point! We were a party of eight and food was timely and well prepared! We had the prime rib medium rare with a whisky and coke, the blackened salmon and risotto, two of the house made raviolis, two chicken platters, the lavender non alcoholic mixed drink, then we ordered coffee and the absolutely wonderful coconut flan! Our entire experience beginning to end was worth coming back again and again! Best service in town! And the best cut of prime rib!

One of the worst restaurant experiences ive ever had.First off i want to clarify that the taste of the food is not bad and. My only complaints in regards of the taste is that the tuna was a little bland/underseasoned and that the pastrami sandwich had way too many pickles to the point of overpowering most of the other flavors.My main and most important complaint is how DIRTY this place is. Spider webs all over the chandeliers. Insects all over the windows and it looks like the hadnt cleaned the windows for weeks. Flies were bothering us for most of our time there and mind you we were sitting indoors. There were spiders all over the fence outside and on the fire pits.I went with my girlfriend at around 3pm. We first ordered the steak tacos as an appetizer and 2 signature drinks (the mule and the hot mess) which were pretty good tasting. My first complaint comes with the portion size of the tacos being criminally below its price. 4 small mexican tacos for 17 dollars. When we were ready to order we were told dinner wouldnt start until 4. At this point we decided to wait and had a good amount of time to decide what dish we wanted to get. We then order a bottle of 2017 zinfandel wine which turned out to be 2019. Once we were ready to order after about an hour we were told that we had lunch menus and that it was dinner time which changed the manus and made us question why we had to wait so long. Furthermore the pastrami sandwich was not on the dinner menu. Fortunately the waitress was kind enough to work it out for us and get us the sandwich. Lastly we had an affogato and coconut pineapple flan which didnt taste like pineapple at all and when we asked we were told it was on back order.$172 was the total. Just being expensive doesnt make it a fine restaurant... They didnt even had the courtesy to give us a complementary discount for all of the discrepancies. I do NOT recommend this place

Made a reservation, called to see if we could come in earlier, they said it was fine. Showed up, we were seated on the patio. We were brought water and bread, told our server would be with us shortly. Two servers came near our table, did not even ask us for a drink order. We waited about 25 minutes and then left. The issue here is lack of acknowledging your customers. Will not be back and will make sure to tell my friends, family, and acquaintances to not visit as well. Why this has high stars, I don’t know. Had a 6:30 reservation tonight and took about 7 minutes to get seated. We sat on the patio and were brought water and bread. 30 minutes went by with no one checking on us or offering to take a drink or food order. Tables next to us were getting served and a couple who came in behind us got their appetizers and drinks already. Also there is no shade and it’s very hot in the evenings, something to keep in mind. We ended up walking out. Let the hostess know we hadn’t even had our order taken after 30 minutes of waiting and that we were leaving, she didn’t even seem to care that much. Do not recommend this restaurant.

Very nice place. Staff were super nice and attentive. The food was delicious! The bread was crunchy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. We ordered the Chefs Board, Sea Bass, and New York Strip medium. The Chefs Board was amazing. The meats and cheeses were better than expected but my fav part was their HouseMade jam and raw honey comb. The Sea Bass was so tasty and the sauce accented it perfectly. The Steak was cooked to perfection. The vegis were also nicely crisp and seasoned well. Everything was presented in such an appealing way. The entrees looked so good we didnt realize we forgot to take picture until Id already started eating and he was pretty much done with his food.

Normally I would give this place 5 stars but instead I will only give it 3.My girlfriend and I recently went there for lunch and some drinks. The wait was long for the food and when we ordered a appetizer they brought it out on one plate instead of a couple so that we could take our share each instead of dropping it on the ground which is what happened. In addition, they forgot about us when the check was dropped off at our table. I hope to see the service improve if we go back again. Nice, folks but I think they could use more help on the weekends. Not to many nice places to eat in Redding so hopefully your experience will be better then ours this last time around

Ive been here many times and they never disappoint. Our waitress Tracey was amazing, shes super nice, friendly and attentive to our needs. I couldnt decide between the blackened salmon or the chicken marsala, so I ordered both. But first I shared the apple, cranberry salad with my girlfriend for a appetizer, it was delicious. When the food came out one of the helpers couldnt grasp that I ordered 2 entrees. The food was really good and to Traceys surprise I finished all of it. Plus I shared a black berry cobbler with my girlfriend, which is why we were there, it was her 50th birthday. We ate, we drank, we talked and laughed, all the while, Tracey and the rest of the 202 crew took great care of us, it was a dinner to remember! I have 2 complaints, 1) the mussels werent on the menu, ( they are amazing) 2) they dont have gluten free bread for the delicious pesto they serve. Thank you for a fantastic evening!

The outdoor patio overlooking the river is worth the trip alone. The service was also very very good. I only had two of the appetizers, and they were not good. The tuna poke was not too bad, but over seasoned and gooey. The crispy chicken was horrible. Not crispy, swimming in an over sweet goo of strong citrus sauce, atop watery mayonnaisey slaw in the bottom of a bowl. And some how with all that the chicken was dry. The menu itself was pretty standard, just need to get a chef in there to fix things up.

I have nothing positive to say about the experience except the view was nice and it was a beautiful evening. Our waitress who seemed to be training others was terrible. It took her ten minutes to get to the table and get our drink orders. Another fifteen minutes went by waiting for our beers and wine, we didn’t even order mixed drinks. Dinner was just okay, the fettuccine okay, the prime rib okay. No one had a great dish. The waitress was our main problem, again she seemed to be the head waitress giving guidance to trainees and others, right in front of our table. Loudly in front of our table.This waitress also took our plates before we were done eating, we were extremely shocked, she just started grabbing our plates never once asking if we were done. We were never offered appetizers and we were never offered desserts. The place was empty inside the only customers were on the patio. The waitress in charge just wanted us gone. We were never offered drink refills, I had to flag down a young man to get a second beer. I won’t go back. Service was terrible, food just okay and it wasn’t worth it. Very disappointed. I can’t believe the owner/manager is letting that woman train people. Obviously the owner/manager isn’t involved in the restaurants operations.
