We hired Vern Pershing, The Art of Water, to clean our pond. Vern went above and beyond by fixing a rock formation that had been destroyed by our 40 pound fish. The pond cleaning was done efficiently and quickly and his Crew handled our fish with TLC. Like all pond owners, we have water clarity issues during certain times of the year. Our water was GREEN! Vern instructed us on exactly what to do and two weeks later, we can see the bottom of our 4 foot deep pond and most importantly, our beautiful fish. The water is crystal clear. We will definitely hire Vern Pershing, The Art of Water, for all our future pond needs.Verns perseverance and total commitment to our needs was fantastic. We absolutely recommend The Art of Water for any pond owner needing help. Thank you Vern!

Vern built our pond 2 years ago and although I love it I didnt mention the constant upcharges every time a rock moved. Now I had him come to clean my pond and his guys were thorough, but the quote was double and although it took him maybe an hour longer it was a total price gauge because the work invoice was not performed and 3 days later I still have a green pond that is normally clear. His response is to let nature handle it and that I have too many goldfish in a 3,000 gallon pond. There are 32 and 1 turtle. He also charged me for algae treatments and sent screenshots of how algae treatments are bad. I know the appropriate chemical concoctions to get clear water so I will follow up and treat my water myself. This is something Vern should have handled so I wasnt doing double the work. Texting me to justify his time spent wasnt helpful and charging me to fix a builder error that I complained about from day 1 was the final straw!! Per your last text thanks for clarifying that I paid for your time and not the services you actually billed me for in your invoice. You might want to stop that practice since I didnt get what I paid for.

Verne has done a number of landscaping projects for me. He designed and built a beautiful waterfall feature, several rock retaining walls and gardens around my Swim Spa deck and several pathways throughout the property. His work is amazing and impossible to describe with just words so I am attaching a number of photos of each proejct. Most of these have now been in place over five years and look as good as the day they were built. Once a year Vernes team will come by and perform maintenacne on the waterfall feature which keeps it looking great and virtually eliminates any effort from me to maintain the landscaping. I would highly recommend his team for any landscaping project you might be considering.

Verne installed a wifi enabled irrigation system for us that allows us to monitor the irrigation system, alerts us to leaks and malfunctions, and even allows us to tell if PGE has turned off the power! He runs a native plant nursery and the landscaping he has done looks beautiful despite the gophers and deer. I call him periodically to replace plants chewed up by gophers and which just did not do well and they were replanted with gopher baskets. Also to do annual maintenance and to trouble shoot irrigation problems. My only issue is the fact that we had to fix some problems on our own (once the wires in the controllers had fallen out of the connections which was not found by his crew when they came out to trouble shoot) but with the last problem Verne came out himself, was digging in the dirt, gave us an education about the system, and identified the malfunctioning solenoid which fixed the problem after we bought the replacement and installed it. Hes quite a character - formerly in movie production and has a visual artists approach to landscaping with his more recent focus on water features.

Verne and his crew took my pitiful attempt at an Aquascape waterfall and turned it into an incredibly beautiful water feature. They used native rock, and California native plants to make it look like it has always been a part of the landscape. They were very knowledgeable, professional with great artistic vision. Great attention to detail, and meticulous in execution. They very carefully cleaned up after the job was completed. The photos don’t do it justice.

After remodeling our home we needed to re-landscape, & wanted to use CA natives. We found Verne through a local nursery. Verne connected us with a landscape designer, Marcia Scott. The installation was done Fall of 2011 through Spring, 2012. Weve been extremely happy with the results and the support weve had from Verne & his excellent team. We still rely on them six years later for monthly maintenance and occasional changes.The CA foothills are beautiful. If you want your home to fit into the landscape, using native plants is a natural solution. Using the expertise of someone like Verne & his team to help you makes sense too. Verne and his team are professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. They did a fantastic job cleaning my pond and installing a new pump. When my pond pump died, my koi fish were on the verge if death due to lack of oxygenated water and Verne was the first person I called. He got back to me within an hour and provided an aerator to circulate the water in my pond, saving all of my koi. Thank you Verne and your team! Great work and I highly recommend contacting them for any of your water garden needs.

Anyone needing expert landscaping services should begin their project by picking up the phone and contacting Verne Pershing.I contacted him initially last year to tackle a retaining wall area another contractor did for me but never worked right and wasnt landscaped so it was all clay. In fact I ended up having standing water issues. Verne, Juan and Rodrigo turned that area into a dry really nicely landscaped wall that has 2 tiers and continues to curve around my pool area. He put in great deer plants and a drip system. Just beautiful and so functional.So this year I called Verne to work his magic again.I have issues with my back and knees so getting around and watering everything is quite difficult. I have 2 acres and as I didnt need the whole thing landscaped I did need the area around the house landscaped and a drip system installed to keep everything green and growing. I had a pond in the front area of the house that had been worked on by several people but never work right. The original owner sunk a hot tub into the ground 30 years ago and it always leaked. I loved the pond it brought frogs in the spring and the sound of the water was pleasing.Verne suggested we pull down the old pond and build a new one close to my living room so that I can not only see it but hear it as well. I can go out my living room door and its just right there. Next to the new pond area I had a lawn of crab grass that was really nothing one could sit on.Verne transformed both areas into something really beautiful and calming. I have a gorgeous 3 level pond with fish that lights up at nite. He put in so many plants to accentuate the pond and a sprinkler system to keep everything growing. So beautiful!! He planted sod with a sprinkler system so now I can sit on the lawn if I choose to. The area where the old pond was has been landscaped as well. He left part of the rock as a connecting support to the retaining wall but did it is such a way that it all looks natural with beautiful plants and another drip system.Needless to say I would highly recommend Verne Pershing for any landscaping need that you might have.

Verne and his exceptional team really know what theyre doing! We are delighted with the results. Last evening, as we sat beside the dry creek bed, enjoying the peaceful sound of gurgling water from the rock fountain, we also basked in a beautiful moonrise (see photo).
