We booked a surf lesson and rented surf boards and wet suits from these guys and it was an amazing experience! Our instructor, Wagner, was the best teacher ever! He’s super passionate about what he does and it shows in his work. They were easy to communicate with and even let us drop off our wet suits and surfboards with them while we took a break and go some lunch. Would definitely recommend these guys!!

Best surf lessons in Venice. Amazing customer service. Wagner, the owner, is fantastic and does everything to make sure your experience is great. My instructor, AJ, was also really good. He’s an experienced surfer and a great instructor.

Wagner was helpful and professional. Angel, our instructor was wonderful. We had two kids age 10, and women ages 17, 26 and 42. No one had surged before. He helped everyone and everyone got up.

Please choose the surf shop if you dont care about No-show and late refund.He sent a message to move down start time a hour later 10 mins before the 1:1 lesson, and I agreed even though I already arrived at venice beach throughout 1 hour driving, however, he canceled in 30 mins with excuses. I think he forgot our class in the morning. And, he did refund after multiple request calls and texts from me. At the first time, he said he requested refund to card company, but it was a lie because he asked my order number when I requested a refund receipt. It taked 2 weeks until receiving a refund receipt, just receipt!!In Venice beach, you can find good sulf shops in person and be able to try sulf right away so dont book in advance.

This is an excellent surf school. I was able to get a surf lesson easily. The surf instructor, AJ, was there on time and gave good instruction and has patience. Wagner is the owner and expedited the lesson well and coordinated for the next lesson. I look forward to it!

Wagner is the best surf instructor in Los Angeles! He is so knowledgeable and pushes you to do your best. If you’ve always wanted to learn how to surf and don’t know where to start, definitely start here to learn about the basics to include safety and etiquette. If you are an experienced surfer, Wagner can help elevate your technique. Highly recommend! Venice Surf Shack is right by the pier so if you don’t have a board, you can always rent one. I forget mine all the time and it’s so convenient!

Had my first surf lesson today. It was awesome thx to my instructor Carol! Highly recommended it. Precise explained in a calm manner that you really don’t have to be nervous to catch a wave, you simply will! And so flexible in scheduling!

There was a slight hiccup but it was resolved and I super appreciated it. River is an awesome teacher and could really pinpoint what I was doing wrong and explain it so I could do it right :) He definitely knows what he is doing. I taught snowboarding for many years, so I know what it takes to get your students to understand. Also surfing is way more intense!

We live in NorCal but a few times that we drove through LA we scheduled a surf lesson for our 7yo twin boys with Wagner and our boys loved it! Wagner is very personable and knows how to connect with kids and make a lesson fun. He was also very professional and easy to communicate with and make arrangements with for us as parents. Well definitely be back!

Some of the most experienced surfers in LA go to Wagner for lessons to improve on surf skills and tricks ~ Wagner is equally great to work with when learning how to surf. With 35 I’ve decided to pursue a long held dream to surf. Not easy to pick up a sport later on in life; while I’m not a natural Wagner has incredible patience with me as a teacher and makes it so fun that it doesn’t really matter how good I am but that I am out there on the waves having the best time. Wagner is an exceptional teacher; and a really great person.

Not my first time buying lessons.... but my first time actually having fun!!And it was right at the Venice Pier! so cool!The instructor i had was a guy from Brazil named Wagner. He was really good. I learned a lot of new things like there are rules in surfing like etiquette and stuff.He also showed me some great tricks in the water and i actually caught so many waves!!it was awesome. i think i even got barreled.Highly recommended you check it out if u want to learn to surf.

I love Venice Surf Shark! I have done a surfing lesson with Wagner, and now my husband and I rent surf boards/wetsuits from him. Wagner is fun, flexible and friendly, and we are always excited to meet him at Venice Beach for a fun surf day. I have worked with several surf instructors and Wagner is the best. He takes the time understand your goal for surfing and develops a plan to help you achieve it. For me, he identified issues with my pop-up and paddling that now has me catching more waves than ever. He also makes each lesson fun and shares the stoke of surfing and intimate knowledge of the ocean and reading waves to get the best rides. My kids and nephew have known Wagner for years and learned so much from him. They always have a great positive happy experience with him as their teacher, guide, wise advisor and protector. Wagner and Venice Surf Shack are a great source for board and wetsuit rentals. If you need to brush up on your pop ups, he’ll give you lesson right on the beach and take you into the surf. He can be found most days just north of the pier looking through his binoculars “checking the surf”.
