Stay here! This is the most beautiful hotel, offering an absolutely incredible experience! Everything from the gorgeous pool to the chic rooms (many with amazing views) is perfectly designed and maintained. The staff are all friendly and helpful! You can easily walk to Balboa Island, or just across the street to fashion island. But you may not want to leave! In the evenings, the pool and bar take on a sophisticated night club type of feel. Our cocktails at Reveal (the bar) were exceptional! You will be so glad you booked here!!

What a wonderful resort! And, if I could give it six stars for location, I would! Ive always loved staying here since you can shop, walk to Balboa Island, and with a car go up to LA or down to San Diego for a day. The hotel is beautiful, and I highly recommend the chop salad in the restaurant served by an incredible staff. Also, the oatmeal cookies at the coffee stand in the gorgeous lobby are delicious. The rooms are great, and the pool and outlook says vacation!

In a word: Stunning! Came to visit for a family anniversary party and stayed a couple extra nights. Absolutely blown away by the exceptional level of service, attention to detail, and the beautiful location. Every meal we had in the restaurant and the lounge was fantastic, and the dinner for our private event might be the most delicious and beautiful banquet I’ve ever experienced. Even our housekeeping consistently went above and beyond and were so friendly. We cannot wait to come back.

VALUE - The value of this stay was a 2 star- resort fees, other fees like marketing fees, valet, etc made the room over $600 a night, which is way too much for what you get.SERVICE - The manager was amazing, they remembered us each day and made an effort to talk with us.What is crazy is you get charged $60 a night for parking and its only valet so you have to tip them making it more.The resort feesROOMS -we had the one overlooking the golf course, was nice but there were odd things about it. There is a door to the shower that someone in the room can open to see the person showering, very odd. The tv always had the wrong name welcoming us so that was odd. Also there is very little light in the entry which made it tough to see the suitcases. There was very little space to store your suitcase and the lighting our closet never turned off.FOOD - we ate there 2x for breakfast and once for lunch. First breakfast was amazing so we went again, this time not good. Lunch was okay not great.Left an item there, my fault but they were nice enough to find it and said they would get that to me but then ghosted me so follow through was bad. It was my fault so I had to buy another.Overall just not worth the money, the location was fine, good was okay, room as okay, service was good. I will stay elsewhere.

The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and modern. I especially liked the modern wooden theme of the room, the decoration, and the soap in the showers. I had a good night’s sleep, the beds were comfortable. There is also a free shuttle to the beach which was a nice touch. The food was pretty good and I enjoyed my stay here!

I stayed at the hotel as a guest for a corporate event in early June. The lobby is nice and location is great. The rooms are remodeled, but my sons room smelled like a sewer. I was a little shocked when they bill me $60 per night for Valet for my car I rented. I didnt have any self parking options. I have stayed at the Four Seasons in Las Vegas and I dont remember anything close to that. I liked the location, but wont stay there again.

(update) Ive been back few more times and the service and follow through has been great across the board.I like the resort. Great rooms, pool is great, location is great. Just disappointed that l left my electric toothbrush in the room and despite calling a couple of times, never heard back from them. Even after speaking with someone. They were going to check and .... No call back.

Beautifully renovated hotel. Incredible fitness facilities with generous outdoor turf (great for CrossFit/personal fitness videos). Decent room service. I was here for an offsite meeting. Catering was great. Pool made me jealous. Giving service 3 stars due to 3 very odd encounters with staff:1 - I leave my suitcase open with clean clothes on one side and worn on the other. First day after my room was cleaned I came back to my suitcase closed. I can appreciate the staff is trying to make the room look as clean as possible—just super annoying to re sort my stuff. To prevent this happening again I put a note on my suitcase before I left my room the next day that said “DO NOT TOUCH.” Guess what? Came back, suitcase closed, my note moved to the nightstand.bevy annoying.2 and 3 - I ordered room service twice at night and both times the male staff (albeit trying to be friendly) lingered inside my room a bit too long. I will no longer say yes when they ask to bring my food in. Just awkward friendly conversation, but uncomfortable.Overall would gorgeous hotel but service staff needs training.

Here for a work event and added a few days for fun. This is a wonderful venue! Food service and staff were outstanding during the meeting. The staff without exception were hospitable and professional. There is attention to every detail and accommodations are extraordinarily well-kept and clean. I hope to stay again someday!

I cant evaluate the rooms here since I just had a drink at the View.I had a mocktail (Rome something) that was very refreshing. I sat outside where I had a view of the pool and the golf course beyond it.The menu looked good, but I didnt order any food.

My wife and I celebrated our 11 year anniversary with a little staycation at the VEA. I have to say the place is a well oiled machine and were planning to make this a recurring trip. The service, amenities (pool/gym/spa/restaurant) and atmosphere are worth the price of the stay. More specifically, I was blown away by the Director of Restaurants (Stacie Garcia). She was top-notch, was always available and made sure her guests received the best experience possible. The only knock I have on the place is that it was chilly at the pool. If they can find a way to have the sun come out when people are swimming then this place would be a 6 out of 5.

This is for the new speakeasy, Reveal Lounge only. First come, first serve, we came around 8 and had few places to choose from to sit. Great drink variety, including wine and martinis, and the small bites were absolutely delicious. Great music, literally played 90s and 2000s R&B all night. Great place to catch up, have conversation, and still vibe.

I was very disappointed in the whole experience my husband and I had at VEA. I stay at Marriott’s on a weekly basis for my job, I am an Ambassador Elite status with Bonvoy and when I requested an early checkin which is included I was told they could “accept my request” but couldn’t “confirm” it. We sat in the lobby for 3 hours waiting for them to text us that it was ready and when we never heard we asked the front desk and they acted like they had no idea we were still waiting. We then were put into a room directly over looking the pool which was great until you realize the events they host that are playing extremely loud live music until 10pm, and sounds like you’re at a rave. We asked to be switched rooms due to the noise and when they switched us we were put into a room that wasn’t clean. My husband found a pill on the floor next to a women’s belly button ring. The whole room was gross. All the pictures online are also deceiving, the rooms are super small. I would not recommend anyone to stay here, no will we return. Overall terrible experience altogether.

I went to the VEA to celebrate a dear friends 50th birthday. We have amazing food, great signature drinks she picked for her celebration.I had a drink called Whats Up Doc, it was a Casamigos Blanco Tequila based drink with carrot juice, jalapeno, and chili powder mixture on the outside it was delicious. It has a cute little baby carrot as a garnish. If you like these ingredients I recommend you try it.The Lanai was beautiful overlooking a large pool, bar, as we enjoyed watching a breath taking sunset.The service was excellent, the hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The valet service was great directing us to the accessible parking (which they have a great amount of spaces). It was easy to navigate with my giddy up (aka wheelchair) as it was spacious even on the Lanai where we spent most of our time.I have to say the bathroom was clean, however the door to get in was heavy, and I didnt have my exit buddyto open the door. Thank goodness for the kind young lady that cleaning the bathroom was kind to assist me with the door.Other than the small snafu with the bathroom, I really did enjoy our time at the VEA, and would actually consider going back for dinner or to stay overnight.** All the pictures were taken from the prospective of my giddy up (aka wheelchair ♿)**

This is so different from many parts of Los Angeles and California.Feel so safe to walk outside alone.Luxury busy Marriott Bonvoy hotel with lots of attendees who attended meetings.Our group arranged meals on Marea Lawn. Beautiful!!!!! Food was just alright but the view was really amazing.Room was nice. Over looking golf course. Bed was comfortable.Walking distance across is Fashion Island. Plenty to shop and F&B.Not sure whether is the Breakfast included if one is a Platinum upwards.If Ive the chance, will return.

First time and didnt know what to expect. Went off pictures and previous reviews, plus at that time it was a Point Saver weekend. I gave 3 stars because - 1) They put us on the opposite end of the hotel when we were not attending events. They did not ask at time of check in. To walk past people dressed up for the evening or in business attire while wearing swim clothes (and wet) with towel wrapped around is awkward..or even coming from spa ..or from working out ..all sweaty. The configuration of this hotel is off. 2) Gold Elite status and though they did let us check in early, did not offer late check out ..at least a hour. 3) They cater to the locals there. Absolutely can feel the sense of who they (Staff) know and regulars that frequent the bar/restaurant. I would not go here if I am looking to feel like a tourist or be close to the beach. This is more like a work feel. 4) The pool bar was closed though it was blazing 69/70 degrees. Saying they called off staff because they thought it would rain ..well then ok...call them back! Or have 1 waiter come out and check on people at pool to order. Not hard. Go above and beyond! I know for sure, I will not be back there. I think Marriott has better offerings in Newport.

Update: Our recent stay at VEA was perfect! We were impressed with all the staff. The front desk was friendly and efficient. We got a great room without asking, and welcome gift was offered without asking. Poolbar staff was right on top of it. Easy to order and fast service. Great cocktails and food was very tasty. Breakfas burrito was still beat ever and our server Jay was an absolute delight! I would say this property has hit the mark and we wont stay anywhere else when we are in town! 5 stars!!!This property has been lavishly renovated and the updated rooms are very comfortable. Restaurant, bar and pool area are very beautiful. The service there was great and food was excellent! Breakfast burrito was one of the best Ive ever tasted! Francisco took great care of us.The hotel service staff, however, was not quite up to the standard of this level of hotel. Everyone was very friendly but not as helpful as you would hope. I think some front desk staff could benefit from more training. For example, as a Platinum elite guest, we werent offered our gift or automatic room upgrade. We shouldnt have to ask for these things. Despite these small service failings, we will return for another stay in the near future. I will update to 5 stars if service improves.

Love this hotel! Initially the service from Zena at the bar was unwelcoming. It took a while to even be acknowledged at the bar. However, the Lychee martini was delicious. After moving to the fire pit the service from Amy really made up for it. She brought us blankets as it got cold and was very attentive. Aside from the first impression of service the overall experience was amazing.

The Hotel is well located and easy to get to. The customer service was fantastic. The view from the pool deck is great, especially at sunset. The pool deck bar is cool. The pool bar vibe is a little bit Vegas a little bit relaxation.The gym has everything you need to get a solid workout beit weight lifting and/or cardio.The only complaint I would have is in the particular evening we went to the pool/spa, the Chlorine was so strong that after a couple of hours between the pool and spa, my bathing suit and my wifes bathing suit got ruined. It bleached the color out of my blue swim trunks, which are now white.

From the moment we walked in, he made us feel welcomed and appreciated. And throughout our stay, he went above and beyond to be helpful. Staying here was a disappointing experience. Logistically, I dont know why youd put guests who are not there for a conference in the section that mostly houses conference attendees. It was loud through the entirety of our stay and we constantly had to navigate through the conference area traffic to get to the lobby or restaurant. The restaurant was mediocre at best. The host/hostesses were on their phones almost every time wed ask to be seated. On one evening when we went for drinks, the hostess said there was only bar seating available (the bar was full/no actual seats) due to no tables being clean... there were about 12 clean, set tables that we could easily see. I understand that staff get overwhelmed during busy times of the evening, but it felt like she basically said she wasnt going to seat us. On another occasion where were ordered room service, the order and the billing were incorrect. We were hoping for a relaxing time, and instead we spent it trying to remedy mistakes the hotel staff made. We regret choosing this hotel. There are so many other hotels and Marriott locations nearby that I wouldnt recommend wasting your time here.

Nice effort at differentiation for a Marriott hotel. Service is very good and features definitely upscale. However the architectural complexity of the original building remains with a lot of odd half floors and confusing corridors. Rooms open directly outside and there are gaps at the bottom of doors. The view on the golf course are great and the food venues look better than they taste but there is a genuine effort. The staff is vey attentive and helpful and in great number which is rare in these post pandemic times.

This is a warning to everyone. I left a bag behind in room. Had done Christmas shopping at the Mall across the street and realized it afterward when we got home. Marriott says they cannot take responsibility even though they have surveillance of what we walked out with. The experience was horrible. The stay cost me double. I am so angry and frustrated.

I had a great weekend stay with my mom.😊 We really loved our room, it was very nice!! And there was a bottle of wine waiting for us in our room upon entry!They have beautiful outside seating areas to enjoy a meal or just sit and talk/relax. The pool area had an event going on with free snacks and music and a photo booth.The hotel is located conveniently next to a mall with restaurants. But they also have a complimentary shuttle that will take you 5 miles or less. We went to Balboa island.The employees are very professional, nice, attentive and helpful!Aunt Flow came to town and I called downstairs for feminine products. A few minutes later an employee came to my door with a period kit! Not just feminine products, but also Tylenol, and water bottles all in a nice bag. I didnt expect them to bring all of that. I thought it was so nice of them and I really loved that!I really enjoyed my weekend here and would highly recommend!

This is a kind of buyer be aware situation. Hotel seems to carer heavily to business travelers staying for 1 or 2 nights and to large group functions. If you are looking for a vacation vibe I would consider others. Marketing for partial and direct ocean vie is highly misleading. The room had a huge in depth wall outside the window. Felt like looking through a tunnel to see the greenery and water. Weird. Also you look at roof tops. Standard rooms are VERY small. Main building rooms surround a kind of court with a lower level roof, garbage everywhere. Hallways are exterior with dirt on them. Worst, leftover toenail clippings on the guest room floor.

My husband and I recently spent our 6 year wedding anniversary at this resort, and it was definitely one of the best resorts we’ve stayed in. Such a convenient 20 min drive especially after a full day at Disneyland on Friday, we relaxed there for the whole weekend. Pulling up instantly we were amazed by the rain water fall outside the hotel. We were greeted by the very nice valet staff member, then walked into a beautiful lobby with very nice front desk associates. We stayed in such a beautiful room facing the golf course, bath right next to shower, and nice sized bathroom and balcony. We were also assisted by Tim who is the nicest and sweetest bellman. As we were checking out, he even called the valet to get the car pulled up for us. Over all service was just amazing! Oh and let’s not forget about the pool! There are 2 on the property, but the one by the Edge bar was so nice. I love that they give you a large towel cover custom with VEA printed for your pool chair, and towel for yourself. The bar had a gigantic monitor with images of cool landscaping and art in the ceiling. Just so many great things about this place and have nothing but good experiences. We are absolutely coming back!

We really enjoyed our stay at Vea. The construction mentioned in other reviews must be mostly done as we didnt hear anything. The hotel has a wonderful open atrium design so there was plenty of fresh air. Everyone st the hotel from the valet, front desk, waiter, pool side waitress and maids were friendly and so helpful. The room was very comfortable and the pool was beautiful. We enjoyed food and drinks by the pool. There is also a large lawn area with reclining chairs if you prefer some privacy and quiet to enjoy the space. The restaurant had an extensive drink menu and a smaller food selection but everything we tried was delicious. Its a small walk across to fashion island so we walked across for breakfast and some shopping. We had our 4 year old with us and felt very welcome here as there were other families present, but the hotel did not have a solely family vibe. There were plenty of couples for get aways as well. The hotel has a more dressy atmosphere so pack accordingly. Part of the gym was open air so you could you workout outside and my husband really liked it. We will definitely be back again as the service was superb!

I picked the best hotel to celebrate my birthday!!!Got in early, hoping I could check in to the room to decorate, I wasnt able to, but Alex at the front desk comped my sister and I a glass of champagne, to celebrate my bday! Greatly appreciated. 20 min after receiving the champ, we were able to check in- which was at 2pm. The VEA team made that early check in happen. Tim, from valet was comical, appreciative, and helpful during our complete stay! The staff sent many things to our gorgeous room complimentary to celebrate my birthday, honestly I felt like royalty. The rooms were large, amazing views from the balconies, and the room decor is beautiful. Complimentary water in the rooms, which was great! When checking out, we grabbed food at the restaurant downstairs, and again, the hotel sent a truffle cake to the table for my birthday! This hotel went ABOVE AND BEYOND! THANK YOU for making my birthday ever so special!

The newly renovated hotel was perfect for a weekend getaway. The hotel offers all the amenities from bike rentals, to yoga classes and a free shuttle. The rooms are excellent and the pool and pool bar were perfect, with great views. The front desk staff couldn’t do enough. Maddie was one of the nicest, most helpful front desk employees I have ever encountered- couldn’t do enough to ensure my stay was perfect. I will definitely return!

My husband and I were fortunate enough to stay at this hotel for our 15-year anniversary last week. It is immaculately clean and everything is new and updated. The food at the restaurant was delicious. The thing that made our stay the most memorable was our Guest Experience Expert, Maddie. She knew it was our anniversary and had a surprise treat tray complete with a handwritten, personalized note delivered to our room. Marriott is the best, hands down. We had an excellent 5 night stay at this resort. They have an inviting pool/spa area, and a superb poolside bar with a cool video projector shooting on the ceiling. The gym area is great, with a new smith machine, functional trainer, dumbbells from 5-50 lbs. and cardio equipment that faces the sea. The views from the room were excellent, and the proximity to everything in Newport was superb, considering you can walk across the street to Fashion Island. The hotel restaurant was good, but with Red O and sushi across the street, it’s worth a short walk to widen the culinary options. The bellmen and valet service did a wonderful job and were extremely accommodating. We will definitely stay here again.My only criticism would be to please get more cable attachments for the gym equipment.

Restaurant and SPA services are good but guest services as well as guest relation is very bad. If youre lucky, youll get a front desk clerk thats patience enough to give you an intro to the property. Expect lone line at check in during hot season and your room might not be ready until passed 4pm. Room noise is very bad and you can hear guest in the next room talking as if youre in the room with them. The wall also shakes each time when someone closes their room door. Location is second to none and has lots of meeting space but if youre a elite member of Marriot Bonvoy, dont expect any VIP treatment. If you want good experience, book high floor rooms in the sky tower or the sky suite. Otherwise, set your expectation lower or chances of you getting disappointed will be high.

I want to command the staff at the VEA hotel for their outstanding customer service and most importantly for their incredible reliability. We usually book the BBC or Lido but we decided to give VEA a try, so we booked VEA between March 16th- March 21st. During our stay, we were pleasantly impressed by the excellent service, friendliness and professionalism of the staff members ; from housekeeping, bellboys, front desk, bartenders, the waitresses by the pool and the View restaurant, all the away to the valet guys - nothing but great service. When I left the hotel it was a rainy and very windy. All the hangers that were brought by the bellboy to my car flew away and ended up on the ground, wet and dirty. They apologized for the inconvenience and offered to refund some of the money for the dry cleaning. I thought that was very nice. I just returned home yesterday, April 8th, after a long month of travels and while unpacking I realized I never took my Rolex and bracelet out of the safe when I left VEA hotel. I called them today and spoke to Rachel at the front desk. She immediately checked the lost and found and said there was nothing reported, however someone from security will call me back to take a report. Within a couple of hours I received a call from Anthony, who informed that they had my watch and bracelet. I was so happy to hear that after so long they still had my goods. I travel a lot all over the world and hear all kinds of stories about lost things the hotels that can never be found or retrieved. This time it happened to me and I can’t express my gratitude and worlds of appreciation for the entire staff at this hotel. This is an exemplary hotel that I will choose over other hotels every time I’m in Newport and recommend to all friends and family. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart, especially to the person who found it and took it to the lost and found.

The gym within the hotel is small, not decently well big enough for 20 or less people. Not too much lifting benches or much barbells for people. The in-store dinning shops are pretty expensive. Like $17 for a freaking avocado on toast, no way!. Also any family who are getting the double bed room, there will be a open slide window of the restroom. Just wanted to let you know, its not very comfortable when theres space between the slides to the shower. I bunked with a friend :/.

My wife & I stayed at the VEA Newport Marriott one night for a date night. Since there was a fundraiser occurring at the hotel & valet was packed, we parked on the street. This saved us $55 overnight parking. There were plenty of bellman willing to help with your luggage & open doors.I was lucky to be able to reserve the Spyglass Suite. The hotel only has one of these rooms & it’s usually booked. It’s a bi-level room with a pool table downstairs & a swing chair upstairs. It also had a good size balcony with a view of Newport harbor & Catalina Island. The room was in the second tower for suites so we had to walk by the conference rooms to get to the elevators. It was worth the short walk.The hotel itself was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Too bad it was cold out because they had an really nice pool. The lights at night were a great touch too. We opted to walk across the street to Fashion Island for dinner. We chose the Cheesecake Factory which was next to Nordstrom, which was literally right across the street from VEA.The only problem we encountered was at night when the room became cold. Both heaters in the room didn’t work. Upon calling the front desk after a technician couldn’t fix it, Adam (mgr) was completely apologetic & compensated us for the situation. I’ve stayed here a couple times due to the proximity to my company’s office and Fashion Island but beware they overbook this hotel and will ship you off to neighboring hotel. They did this to several of my coworkers this trip and tried to pull it with me and I wasn’t having it. They’re furious but I’ll leave the one star review for them.For me I had difficulty sleeping because they bump the music outside past 11pm (even on weeknights)- which is midnight or later if you’re from out of state like me. I was on the 3rd floor with a window view. I’ll likely stay at another hotel on my next trip out or request a room somewhere else on the property. This is a beautiful and fun hotel is you’re a night owl but not ideal for a work trip.

Along with a few friends, I stayed at this Marriott over the Fourth of July weekend & had more than an exceptional time! Unfortunately, the property is under current construction, but it did not take away from the experience whatsoever! More than likely, you will have to take a shuttle from the parking lot to your desired location on the property, but I’d like to emphasize that the drivers are more than welcoming. The drivers; Chris, Drew, Tristan & Marcus provided excellent service and gave us great tips on local things to do. Diving into our stay, our hotel room had a remarkable view, allowing us to see fireworks along the coast. The rooms were not as dated as other reviews might suggest and hotel service was also superior! Adollgesa (not sure about the spelling) was more than helpful with the check in process and even accommodated us with a few timing errors we made on our end! Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would not hesitate to stay in the near future!

They provided no helpful tips about the parking or anything, so we ended up paying double. Ostensibly, this will be a fantastic place to visit when they finish. I would recommend avoiding at all costs until that happens. I am a Marriott devote and this property in its current state falls very far below any Marriott I have encountered previously. There is no restaurant, no bar, breakfast is burnt coffee and prepackaged muffins, and access to the facilities is highly inconvenient if at all. Had I not had the cancellation fee to contend with and another option in the short time, I would have cancelled my stay on sight. The internet is out, and I guess their internet is tied to the TV because the TV is out too. This place has been mediocre at best since I arrived.Second, the wifi is only free if you sign up for the Marriot account...otherwise, its $15/day. At the price of this room, I cant believe theyre charging more for a basic amenity like internet.Third, I asked for some extra coffee and creamer when I checked in at the front desk, and the staff said they would send someone up. No one came. When I called down for some again, they said I could get some at the front desk, or I could wait for some to be delivered. It finally was...in two batches, one for coffee and one for half and half, because the message hadnt gotten through correctly, even though they could have just handed me a bunch at the front desk when I asked.Fourth, theres construction all over the place still. Its not TOO bad, but the construction/renovation is clearly not done yet. And they kicked us off the patio bar today so they could do a photo shoot of the new look.Honestly, there are some good things about this hotel (I mentioned the friendly staff, and the bedding is comfortable), but I would not recommend this place to anyone. There has to be a better option nearby.Edit: I would like to add that there were a few other things that I ran out of time and interest to type out. But if you have to, then definitely go to the omelette stand - a very friendly chef who made us the most amazing omelettes. You’re better off going to Moulin for breakfast - it is only a 5 minute drive from the hotel - ref my review on that.

We had our 40th High School Reunion here and I stayed the whole week-end. I couldnt have been more pleased! Rose, the concierge, gave us directions to Rogers Gardens, gave recommendations for restaurants, made reservations for us, gave us VIP passes, and even made our reservations! She couldnt have been more helpful and kind!The check-in attendants were also helpful. They looked up my rewards number for me since I didnt know it, so I could get credit for my stay. And they held our bags after we checked out while we did some sightseeing before our flight.I thought the grounds were beautiful and well kept. I really have been trying to give this hotel the benefit of the doubt. First after I booked they sent an email with a footnote that said the spa and hotel restaurant was closed for construction. I arrived and against my request they put me on the first floor. They had no food available on the premises. Then we also noticed WiFi was $15 a day and parking is $40 a day which seems exorbitant considering how most of the items that were supposed to be included were not available. I was still trying to be optimistic. But by day 2 the ant infestation in our room broke my vacation good mood. Had to change rooms, was comped a small amt off my bill. Then, because turn down service is by request only, I requested to have my bed made and fresh towels when I spilled a drink on my bed by accident. I went down to the pool so the housekeeping staff could do what they do, only to return 5 hours later with the same dirty sheets on the bed. When I called the front desk AGAIN they told me it was too late but that someone was bringing me sheets to make the bed myself LOL. Then when my husband and I left for our final meal on our last night, we were trapped in the parking garage Bc the attendant was no where to be found.

My wife and I booked out stay in March, there was no indication that major construction was expected, nor did I receive any updates from the hotel before our arrival.When we arrived we pulled into the parking and were directed to the self park area unground, but no one bothered to mention that we should return to the upper level once parked. Instead, we ride the elevator to the lobby level and followed signs for the lobby only to come across another sign that told us the way was blocked by construction and to go back to where we first drove in for a shuttle! Once we struggled back up to the shuttle with our bags, they were loaded into a van and we were taken to the lobby, only to be reloaded bank on another shuttle with our luggage to go back to the original location to get to our room!! Why???!!!I should also mention that I am a Bonvoy Gold Elite member, and that I checked in online the previous night, where I was informed that a mobile keywould be sent to my phone before arrival to avoid the need to check in manually, this key was delivered to my phone 2+hours AFTER we manually checked in.The staff, though pleasant enough, have made no real effort to alleviate any of the inconveniences the construction is causing. On top of which, most of the amenities, including the drinks machine in the hallway, are unavailable but they are still charging the full resort fee and exorbitant parking fees. Im horrible disappointed in Marriott, and especially the management of this location.

I recently had a great weekend stay at the Newport Beach Marriott...Front Desk: Youre greeted immediately by the friendly bell staff before you enter the lobby. The lobby is very spacious and has a plenty of couches for the guests. The front desk staff was friendly efficient with my check in as well as retrieving my stored luggage at the end of my stay. Very well done..Room: My 2 bed room was very spacious, clean and had newer modern furniture. I was especially happy with the separate work desk area which I used to get 3 hours of work done in the morning. The wi-fi connection was stable and fast for my internet browsing needs. The bathroom was spotless and the water pressure was strong with no issues with hot water. Thats a pet peeve of mine. =)Miscellaneous: Theres an in house Starbucks next to the lobby to get your coffee on. I saw the pool area from the lobby area but didnt have enough time to relax by it. They had plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas to hang out by the pool. Also, you can see the ocean from the hotel rooms as well.Location, location location...Fashion Island is literally across the street. I walked over multiple times to meet friends who live in the area for brunch and coffee. Also, I was here for a pickleball tournament and the Newport Beach tennis club is only 1/2 a mile away. I booked VEA thinking we would have an awesome staycation as we visited in friends in OC. I did mobile check-in for 1pm. As a titanium elite bonvoy member, I have always been able to get my room by doing this far in advance. We arrived at 1:30, and were told a room is not ready for us. We said ok, when will it be ready? She said she wanted to be “honest”, and it would be 45min-1hr. Ok, so we sucked it up and decided to go to the view restaurant even though my 1 year old was due for a nap at 1, hence our 1:30 arrival. We killed a lot of time, and were extremely patient. By 2:45, he was much overdue for a nap, so we went back to the front desk. They finally said ok we have a room. We were elated, went up to the room, started getting settled, setting him up to sleep. Within a few minutes, we hear what sounds like Jack hammering next door to us. Absolutely no way that our son is going to sleep for his long overdue nap. We call the front desk to confirm it is construction, and not something temporary. They confirmed that there was construction until 6pm (on a Saturday), and said no other rooms were available. We packed our stuff, went downstairs. By this time, it’s 3:30 and I’m furious. Ok, we were given a room. I was not going to risk the sound, and no pack n play (did I mention my first room did not have the pack n play I requested 5 days ago?). We packed up our car and had to leave to drive around Newport for our son to sleep in the car which is where I am as I write this. Sure hope to have a better experience when we return tonight.

This location is an embarrassment to the Marriott brand. We stayed here to celebrate our friends wedding. The current construction made it a huge inconvenience to get from the parking structure to our rooms. To make things worse, at 11pm the bride and groom was forced to kick out all their guests from the presidential suite due to a noise complaint without any warning. There was around 12 people in the suite without any loud music and the sound was inaudible from the hallway, yet uncompassionate and unreasonable staff insisted he would evict the couple if they didnt clear out their room. The total lack of empathy for the newly weds on their wedding night left everyone frustrated and disappointed that their time was cut short. If this is how the hotel treats their guests, some having traveled across the country, to spend time with their loved ones, then the concept of hospitality is lost to them.

The room itself is deserving of a 3.5 star but outside of the room feels more like a delapitated motel...this place is hurting the Marriott brand due to its aging appearance. Let’s start with three of our flights we’re delayed and we weren’t able to make it to the hotel to the day after our reservation. They refused to move our $500 reservation since the purchaser of the rooms (the vacation was a gift/surprise) was unavailable to talk to them. We were also on hold for hours to even get a hold of the hotel- when we did, they kept bouncing us from different numbers to speak to someone. When we finally made it- we were put in a ground level room behind rows of bushes and shrubs — can’t see the ocean, can’t see the pool, all we could see is tall bushes... waste of a view). The hotel is designed with a large outdoor atrium, similar to an Embassy Suites but imagine no roof. It may pose a problem if the weather is bad. At check in we were told about the Resort Fee ($25) and the parking fee ($29). Adding that to the $256 for the room (and God knows what other taxes and fees) we were paying Ritz prices but later felt we were getting Motel 6 accommodations. We had a long walk from the parking area, through the lobby then conference area to get to the elevator. The carpet was showing age had a musty smell as did the elevator and hallways. Our view was the golf course. Laying in bed, we could feel the wall move whenever a door slammed shut. We could hear people in the hallway outside and the air traffic (into and out of John Wayne Airport?). After a rough nights sleep we loaded up and headed home. We will plan better next time and find a better place.

Let me start by saying the hotel is fine. Its beautiful and the rooms are nice. Weve been visiting this hotel yearly for at least the past 5-7 years. However, we went on our usual yearly trip a couple weeks ago and were treated HORRIBLY by the lady at the check-in desk. She was snobby and rude and extremely unaccommodating. We didnt ask for anything special, just what we had been told we were getting, and she refused all our requests and then wanted an up front cash deposit for our prepaid room. Weve never been treated this way on any of our numerous previous visits nor have we ever been asked to put up a cash deposit and we always prepay.

Had a great suite with incredible views. Hotel has been renovated, so getting from one end to the other is a bit like moving between decks on a ship. Outdoor areas are lovely for events. Parking underground means you have quite a walk to the lobby and have to navigate converging paths and parking lots.

Went had breakfast meeting. They have an amazing fountain there kind of bummed I didnt snap a photo. Breakfast was good. My only complaint is the self parking. Its like 17 dollars for the first hour 31 dollars for 2 plus hours so you have to pay with a credit card. Since they dont have anyone managing it. If your charging that much for parking you can afford to have someone present. I dislike paying via credit card to an unmanned machine.

I feel they couldve treated a Marriott Gold member a little bit better since they were off peak and I was only staying for a single evening with my wife. Apparently there are two towers and I got the old tower and had to trek over to the new tower to get to the concierge lounge. The new tower is in better shape. My room was renovated and clean, but dated and on the small side. Parking is expensive and they charge you an amenity fee regardless even if the pool is closed for maintenance and internet is typically free if you have status, so its a bit of a scam.

Great location not far from John Wayne Airport and across the street from Fashion Island Mall. A lot of amenities were unavailable because were still in a panini, but it had all the features you expect in a midrange hotel, including internet for no additional charge. It was a very comfortable stay.

My stay here at this particular Marriott was not all good and not all bad!the rooms were clean well kept and fully stock, had no problem there.staff was friendly helpful and I was set up with my room pretty quick.the only thing that actually bother me was room service, Im not sure if they were short staff that night but it took roughly 1 hour to get room service, all i wanted was some ice and it took 1 hour for them to bring to my room and by the time it was brought to me it was half way melted!the guy apologize & did not want to take a tip from me, he was polite and i felt a bit bad for being an ass. yet I still think they could of let me know that they were short staff or out of ice or whatever it was..I would of understand.. but they just ignored me ad made me wait. so i gotta say the good and the bad.

I really try to give hotels the opportunity to impress me. I’m traveling with my 5-year old so we booked 2 rooms to allow us to have some time to ourselves once she fell asleep.T-minus 3 days to arrival- Called front desk to request 2 adjoining rooms. They noted the request but said to call back closer to our arrival.Day before arrival- Called to request adjoining rooms. Again, it was noted but couldn’t confirm till our arrival date. I told them our flight would be getting in very late so we wouldn’t be there till 10pm.Day of arrival- Our flight is delayed so while sitting on the plane, I call again. Please reserve 2 adjoining rooms. At this point the Marriott mobile app has checked me in and sent me a mobile key. My assumption is that, if you’ve already given me a room, and I call, you’ve given me an adjoining room.So that isn’t the case. We arrive at 12:30am exhausted. Guess what. No adjoining rooms, not even the same floor.I get the keys, go to the room, keys don’t work. Go back to the lobby, get another set of keys, again they don’t work. Third time would be he charm. Not so.Lock smith comes by, has to fix the lock. By now, I’ve got an exhausted 5 year old.Then there is the room. The carpets are sticky so when you walk on them, your shoes stick. There is also white paint and other bits of stuff on the floor.I’m a Gold Elite Marriott Member and this is what I end up with at a 4-star hotel?!If it wasn’t 1am, I would have just checked out and found another hotel.I hope management is reading this right now as you may be losing a customer. For life.2 stars are for the front desk who tried to make things better.However the basics of a working lock and clean room are not met.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable. And the lost and found service was outstanding. I accidentally left some things in the night table drawer next to the bed, and didnt put 2 and 2 together for several days after checking out. I was searching for some things at home, going through my bags, and couldnt find what was missing. After about 4 days, the lightbulb went on in my mind as I remembered putting things into the drawer but never taking them out. I called the hotel, spoke with lost and found, and told them my room number, and the items I had left behind. Lo and behold, they had found them and they Fedexed them back safely to me, and arrived this morning. I am very impressed and grateful! The only complaint I have that stops this from being a 5 star review is that I had to carry my bags up and down stairs constantly because my room was over the garden/pool, and somehow there was no direct shot from the lobby to the room without having to go up some stairs, then down some stairs. I had to do this multiple times with heavy bags and not very relaxing to have to do that. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would. If I gave 5 stars, this would be confused with a 4 seasons or Ritz Carlton, which it is not. Nice hotel though, I would stay there again.

I was very disappointed, we were evacuated due to the fires in Orange County. We checked into our room, very little help in valet or bellman. We walked into the room and it looked like someone had messed up both beds. No coffee pot, no open restaurants, nothing like the traditional Marriott about our stay. Of course, the prices are the same! I paid over $700 for 2 nights.... sorry Marriott, NOT IMPRESSED.

The pool area was nice. Made a reservation for a two king beds and was given a room with one king bed and a roll away bed which was more like a cot than anything else. No complimentary breakfast but we could have spend $30 a person for breakfast buffet or $8 for a bowl of cherrios. Not what I expected out of a nicer hotel.

Visited this hotel for a one-night staycation. Was very happy with our experience at the Newport Beach Marriot. Valet service was excellent, every time we called down for the car - they had it waiting for us. Room service was speedy as well - we ordered desert to the room, it was delicious and arrived quick. Overall the property is beautiful, very well maintained and in fantastic condition. I recommend spending some time on the terrace in the evening - quite lovely.The only bummer for us was the check-in. We arrived at 3:50pm and the room still wasnt ready - while I understand technically the rooms arent available til 4pm - we ended up waiting until closer to 4:30-5 until we could get up. I requested a higher floor is my reservation, but was told I needed to upgrade to get it when I checked in - but we ended up getting an 8th floor (halfway up) with a partial beach/golf course view which we were VERY happy with.Would return.

Not my favorite Marriott, nor Orange County beach hotel, by a long shot. The hotel doesn’t have any problems, but it also doesn’t have many benefits (besides view and location.) Among the disappointments: paying a high resort fee... to use an unimpressive pool and sauna. Concierge level lounge so meager that there wasn’t even hummus with the vegetables. Even the one water station lacks any class or interest—couldn’t they throw some fruit or herbs in there? Frankly, I’ve stayed in Courtyards more posh. This is the lowest-brow beach-adjacent Marriott I have ever stayed at. For a good Marriott in OC go to Dana Point.

Room was ok, water leaked under shower door onto the bathroom floor with no drain, had to dam the water with towels. Huge puddles in the walkways around the hotel when raining, even when exiting elevator there was a large unavoidable deep puddle on the 4th floor exit since you must walk outdoors to get to your room. The elevator roof also leaked. The HVAC made a very loud clunk every time the blower shut off about every 45 minutes at night while trying to sleep. The price was quite high in light of these accommodations. Considering the price, portion size in the restaurant was severely lacking when ordering seafood. Food quality and taste was average. Parking rates are exorbitant. Overall I would not recommend this hotel based on a very poor value proposition. The bed was comfortable and room was clean.

Forgive my bad memory, but we stayed in the short(er) building room 352 I believe. Beautiful room with a nice balcony and view. Spa access being included was a great plus as well. I also found eucalyptus/lavender theme for the scent was very satisfying. My only gripe(be it a subjective one) is that the shower doors swing open instead of slide; where as the door for the bathroom slides. Usually its the other way around haha ~ great experience overall!

Went here for a spa day with a Travelzoo voucher. It was very quiet and peaceful on a weekday, not too many other guests. The facilities were smaller than I expected but very nice. I ultimately ended up having a bad experience in the middle because of a lack of communication from them, but they were extremely apologetic and went above and beyond to make it right, so I think thats more important than the mistake and wouldnt take off points for it. The massage was pretty good but not one of the best Ive had, and while not every massage will be best ever I was expecting more given what youre paying here. I would certainly go back, but I think Id ask for a different masseuse, and I think I would only come with a deal, not sure Id personally find it worth it at full price. That could just be me not being super into the saunas and things; maybe Id enjoy it more with a friend. One thing Ill say is the food was shockingly good.
