There is a 6$ entry fee. We went in evening on weekends and still it was very hot and sunny.There are lots of picnic table available but very few lake facing. The park was not at all crowded.The ripple of the water, the beautiful trees, sun shining off of the water in the lake, and sound of chirping of birds and geese, made the experience very calming and relaxing. While walking along the river, it was such a beautiful view to see the sun disappearing below the horizon.

Vasona Lake county park is located within the Vasona lake premise which hosts options for hiking, cycling, fishing, picnic or playground.It has a day entry fee of $6 for cars.It is nice but the playground is rather small than some of the other public parks and has a lot of sand all around. So nice for kids who love sand and don’t mind that getting in their dress. Limited benches near the playground for parents and very less shaded area. Liked that it has a separate cycling trek than one for cars but that’s shared by people walking around.

It is a very clean park.Quiet park also.They have paddle boats to rent 50 bucks hr.Nice paved for walking and bikes.Lots of friendly ducks and geese.Bathrooms are clean!Theres also a little train ride.Fishing 🎣 need fishing license.Theres a plus with this park during Christmas time.It is transformed at night as a stay in car ride of Christmas lights throughout the entire park.Pretty cool!

Huge park with a large lake to enjoy some time outdoors. Plenty of paved lanes to walk, bike, scooter all around. Fishing is allowed. Pedal boats and more are available to rent seasonally. And, its connected to the Los Gatos Creek/trail to continue a journey either above or below the park. A kids train runs through the park, too. The lake was recently drained for repairs to the dam as of this review. Good idea to check ahead if thats what one was looking forward to specifically. Fantastic place to get your steps in and enjoy the scenic Lake Vasona in Los Gatos. During the day you’ll meet joggers, walkers, strollers, bicyclists of all ages. Pedestrian friendly with places to fill your water bottle and benches to enjoy watching the Canada Geese & Coots. Great place to bring your little ones with playground climbing structure (but no fence around so keep an eye out for them wandering off. Choochoo trains 🚂 and a fun adventure. Dining in downtown Los Gatos with plenty of choices.

Beautiful spot to have a great BBQ with family surrounded by nature and great lake view.Also, there are different asphalt tracks to run, bike, or others.If you want to do some of the water activities, I might recommend making a reservation prior to your visit.The access fee is about 7dls per car.

Enjoyed the park on Saturday. The entry fee is 6$ per car, and there are annual passes options also available. The park is huge and if you can carry a bike here then it is a great place to ride a bike. Lots of routes are available for biking. Lake is very beautiful and can take a walk and pictures near Lake which is beautiful. We also clicked lots of fall pictures here as multiple colorful trees.

Fantasy Light Drive Thru 2023 around $32.00 per vehicle. Nice family fun drive 30 min drive. It’s a wrap around . You are able to see all the lights. Kids would love it.

Great place to enjoy nature, walk your dog, have a picnic and/ or just do nothing. Its so relaxing and beautiful. Its best on weekdays as theres far fewer people. Handicap placards, park free which is a huge bonus for me. Its. Very wheelchair friendly!

If you enjoy small rides then you will enjoy the little train. They have both diesel and steam engine on rotation. But even if your favorite one isnt there, head to the garage where you can learn all about their steam engine locomotive. And one of them is more than 100 years old! $3 per ride and $6 for car parking.

I’ve been here couple of times, but this my first time back on thanksgiving/ 2020.No parking fee, no entrance fee,It has a lot of picnic tables, BBQ area, clean bathrooms, staff working here very friendly, and the most perfect place to capture the fall colors, since the air was calm and the sun was out.It was a little bit crowded, but everybody was wearing masks and they were good with building a distance.This park provides a lot of different activities ... such as running,hiking, fishing, walking, bicycling, and of course be modeling.If I stayed a little later, I will be able to enjoy the beautiful fantasy of Christmas lights.

Vasona Park is a park that I particularly enjoy and is conveniently located near my home. I make it a point to visit this park every other day for a walk. I find that the park is less busy during the weekdays, particularly on cold or rainy days. On weekends, there are usually many people visiting the park.

Nice park for a quiet walk. The lake is beautiful with lots of picnic areas and plenty of grass areas for kids to run around. The playground area is great for all ages. So much to explore. During summer months you are able to rent boats. And fishing is allowed. We watched the geese and spotted a small bunny near the bridge.

Great place for families. Lots of parking and picnic tables (tons of bees though). I like that there are 3 separate places for kids to play: small toddler area, larger park area and a big U.S. Air force play plane that they can climb on. Theres also a large grassy area for additional picnicking, sitting, playing a sport, etc.I also saw a lot of people walking and appearing out from behind hedges, so there might be trails. Im not quite sure, though, because we stayed in the main park area during our visit.

Vasona park has natural beauty with lots of tree and greenery. It has a small lake with more than 20 ducks which roam everywhere in the park. The ducks get attracted to you if you give them food or if you carry anything. Trails are best for walking and cycling both. Childrens and adults both can cycle and its fun. The best weather to visit would be with one day when the day is less sunny. Also, there are no entrance fees right now, but remember to maintain social distancing.

Found a parking spot so decided to come on down towards the lake. Took out a paddleboat ($25/hr) and had a great time. Its honestly an amazing park with many features. Great for fishing, riding bikes, having a bbq, etc. There is also a a train that you can ride on that goes around the park and back.

Amazing park to bring kids for a day of fun. Theres plenty of open space to leave your kids at their will to enjoy. So many play areas to engage the kids. Lots of picnic tables to be used for gatherings. Covered ones to be reserved through online portal. The train and carousel are amazing too, though they mostly run on the weekends. There was a community activity going on in the grounds the day we visited keeping it busy.Overall, its an amazing place to go and relax especially during the summer.

Good things in this park:1. Mini train for kids2. Multiple bathrooms3. Lots of parking spacesThings not very well:1. You have no way to walk around the lake one way. The dam blocks your way so you have to come back from exactly same road and you miss the other side of the lake. I do not think any good reason why they locked the path on top of the dam.2. The bike and pedestrian share the same narrow road so it is kind of dangerous for pedestrian. I think these biking persons are nerves to avoid hitting the pedestrian.

Love this park. My kids even more. It is a very nice clean park and i pretty much there every weekend. It has a nice train ride and carousel. Adults can ride in the train as well. Kids love the park and rides. Also they have onsite bbq hot dogs and I believe burgers. I have never tried them but other seems to enjoy it. Also they have drinks, pop corn and ice creams available as well. It has a nice park with slides, swings, model fire truck and a model jet where kids can climb up have fun. there are lot running tracks, i have seen folks with their bikes there, picnics and birthday parties. I highly recommend this place if you want to have a good time with family.Parking is $6, train and carousel rides are $3 per person. childer under 2 yrs old are free for train and carousel ride.

We had a great time. Other than the glitchy system taking forever to make reservations. Only to show up the following week with no reservation. Having to pay twice for the paddle boat. It was a fun little family outing. We also enjoyed the Billy Jones tain ride, carousel and playgrounds. Glad we stumbled across this looking for a fun weekend activity just down the road 😀

Ive been going to Vasona Park ever since I was a wee lad. Its a really nice little park. Theres plenty of grass for picnicking and playing sports, as well as trees for shade. Various parts of the park have different amenities, such as tables and playgrounds, and there are footpaths connecting all of it. And of course, theres a really pleasant lake with boat (paddle and kayak) and paddle board rentals! Wonderful place for a half-day picnic or just for a nice walk.

It’s a very big park with multiple kids play area, train, tractor and aero plane play area. There are many picnic tables and bench to rest in between runs/walk. You can also do boating and kayak here. Portable toilets are there around . Stroller friendly trails .park also has a big playground for soccer . Attended Fantasy of Lights WALK THRU. What a great event for all ages. They were very organized. There are plenty of bathrooms, about 15 food trucks, many many outdoor heaters and lots of picnic tables for eating said food. Its 1.5 miles to walk the route. A DJ at the end playing holiday dance tunes. What a great tradition!

We went for the Festival of Lights walk through. Took the shuttle from Netflix, around 4pm. Getting in was easy. The lights were great. Food trucks had good variety. Was a little on the busy side, and waiting for the return buses took a bit longer than it should. Buses came in waves between 10 min, although there were clusters at one point. They were only loaded to about 80%

What a great park, the bike paths are awesome and free if you enter on a bike. To drive in, the day fee was $6 (2018). Great place for walking, jogging, biking, strolling, puddle boarding and other water activities. Parking in Los Gatos and taking the trail to vasona with my brand new baby is my favorite thing for now. There are a lot of dogs on leash, and a lot of ground squirrels, geese. So your dog can pull you a lot. Ours does! Park has a lot of tables for picnics,bbq.

Vasona is a man made lake in Los Gatos, Ca with a bike trail that goes around the property. People from the area use the vast open space for parties, pic nice, walking, and short bike rides, and actually, ibeven remeber roller blading around it in the early 90s. There is a playground and a small steam train you can take rides on, plus paddle boats and canoes that can be rented (closed during COVID). The adjacent park, Oak Meadow, has or had a carousel and it is possible to walk between the parks. Oak meadow has a large field and two playgrounds. As a child we would go to these parks and play, ride the train and feed the ducks....the ducks have since been chased out by the Canadian Geese, which are everywhere. I have never seen so many geese in my life. These are county parks and there is a fee to get into Vasona and Oak Meadow, however, there is some street parking and walking into the parks through pedestrian gates is free.

Plenty of two-way trail lanes in this park for biking. The only concern was whether people would follow those lanes. Lots of people, dogs, and cyclists on the weekends, so be alert and courteousThe lake was so nice to look at on a warm day. The park feels very well-maintained and there was nearly no goose poop/hissing geese during my visit! :)I biked here via the Los Gatos Creek Trail.

This place is great to go hang out for a day or just stop by for a short visit. It does cost $ to get in and park, but there is another park next door that sometimes doesnt require pays to play and you can walk over the bridge in Vasona. There is a cool playground there too. The miniature railroad is super cool to even just watch. And you can walk along or meet it at different parts of the track. Good place to make great memories!

Things have gotten lot better since my previous review. Boating has resumed, lot more folks use the park and lake. It is a great place for family picnic, even during Covid-19 pandemic. He went out of his way to drive to this park and my first impression as a non-California resident I was impressed by the scenery and space.There was a lot of people (Saturday afternoon) by the water and the main park entrance... I did like how there wasnt as much at the very back end of the park. I also noticed a lot of people/families not wearing their masks even like passing by othe people. A lovely park with a lake to walk around. You can’t do the full loop, however as there’s a dam at the other end. During the winter months there is a Festival of Lights driving light show which is very popular. Parking is also currently free because of Covid-19. Usually there is a fee to park. This park used to be the Jewel of the area. Now, it is in a sad state of neglect. The grass has died and weeds are taking over. The ground is not absorbing the water, so, there is standing water near the play ground. (Breeding ground for mosquitoes, this time of year) The geese have taken over in many areas and their droppings are all over the playground; in the sand and walkways, too. To top it off, there is no shade in many areas of the park, and the surrounding areas; where is the heat prevention? (Need more over hangs, where the benches are, and the seated kid rides; the metal is hot!. Water fountains, for cooling stations. Etc) I loved coming to this park as a kid and young adult; now though, I was embarrassed to have brought my friend and his 3 year old. The poor guy was overheating and couldnt ride the swings, or the metal turtle/duck, because they were hot to the touch.Maybe partner with Netflix, or surrounding companies, to get some volunteers to help out the staff, to return the park to its once beautiful state?

We stopped by Los Gatos on our way to Santa Cruz and we found this little gem. They have a courasel and a train ride, which you can get tickets for under $10. My daughter got to ride the courasel and then us 3 (husband, daughter and myself) went on the train ride which last about 10 mins or less. They also have snacks. Orange net fencing everywhere. There are 2 portapotties at the top of the hill next to YSI, which at least appear to be serviced every 3 days, with a place to wash your hands available.⚠️ A word of caution: I was somewhat surprised to encounter a coyote running around in broad daylight near the Youth Sciences Institute. Vasona park and lake is one of the best managed public spaces in the bay. Besides the many trails that intersect and connect Vasona lake to bay area bike and pedestrian trails they offer boating, bodyboards, paddle and sail boats. There are many spaces all with full bbq facilities, playgrounds, bridge, hiking, fishing and summer concerts. There is even an ice cream truck on the weekends. The far end of the park has a real scaled down train for people to ride. You cant swim in the lake but with the many water activities there are plenty of fun options. The cost is reasonable per hour for rentals or just relax on a grassy hill. Vasona park is free to walk in. Parking on weekends can be difficult so get there early. The restrooms are clean and well equipt. Spaces for BBQ need to be reserved in advance on busy days. As well you are only blocks from historic downtown Los Gatos if you crave some great restaurants. Make a weekend of it at Vasona Park! I highly recommend.

Came here for the fantasy of lights and was not disappointed! Will have to visit during the daytime. It looks like a gorgeous park

Good place for walk and watch wild life. There are several clean restrooms. Parking was not very busy.

Had a nice leisurely stroll in the park on a weekday last week. They’re already setting up the Christmas lights but you can still access the park pretty much unaffected by the set up.
