Exceptional work ethics, amazing service, completely honest and simply the best value and attitude ever! Believe it or not, I got my service done for less than 10% of the price that the dealership was going to charge me. And the functioning of my car was clearly as if it were a new car after the service.One would think if the service expense is low, it probably isnt correct service. But turns out that isnt true, the dealerships are just charging people extravagantly because of peoples innocence. I have been going to Value Auto for a couple of years now. I have an old Honda civic that constantly has leaky gaskets and oil issues. Needless to say, i have been here several times. Ive been to other repair shops in the area (prior to finding Value Auto) that have wanted to charge obscene amounts for the repairs. Value Auto ALWAYS gives a fair price and great service. Alex and his team are so kind and helpful and never pressure you. It is rare to find a shop that is so honest and trustworthy.They always go above and beyond to give exceptional service. The best mechanic experience Ive ever had. Everyone knows that finding a new mechanic is a nightmare because of trust, but I went to these guys on a whim because of their reviews, and by far it was the best mechanic experience Ive ever had. In regards to reviews for car auto repair shops, I dont write reviews till the works been done and I have seen that the repairs have held through the test of time. I had my shocks and struts replaced here for a 1999 Honda Accord at $1,500 less than what Firestone would charge me!!! Alex the owner let me buy my parts, where Firestone refused to let me and said only their parts could be used! Over a year later not a single problem! I sent my mom in to get her brakes done a few months later and nearly a year later not a single problem. I also took my Buick in for a pre purchase car inspection and asked Alex the owner to point out everything wrong which he did within 5 minutes just by looking at the engine. He didnt make one misdiagnosis. After that I took it to the Buick dealership who told me the exact same thing that he did for $100.00. Bottom line this place does great work, the work holds, and they are honest in what is said that needs to be repaired. The prices cannot be beaten or the quality of work so far that I have found in San Diego in my 40 years. Ive also been in and out of there for tiny here and there are repairs that Ive also held and advice. Never have I been ripped off or LED astray with advice from Alex or his mechanics. Bottom line this place is honest and can be counted on in all the ways that matter!
Alex is a very genuine person with a big heart, to make my complicated situation easy to understand - I bought a car 2 months ago from a dealer right next to his shop and the AC has never worked, the dealer sent me to their mechanic and I have been dealing with them ever since ..I’ve took my car to them a million times (leaving me with no car all those times) and they never get it right. Finally the dealer referred me to Alex at Value Auto Repair, after a few days of consulting trying to clean up the mess that the original mechanic has done Alex was very honest and told me AND the dealer he would feel it’s better to let the original mechanic finish the job which I totally understand and I greatly appreciate his honesty but that’s not even the best part. The most amazing thing is that this man let me borrow one of his cars while mine is getting serviced somewhere else ..no he didn’t rent it to me or ask for anything in return he just let me barrow it and for that I am VERY grateful. First, my car was flooded and when I called he immediately said to call my insurance company and take to the Audi Dealership, which was advice I did not even think about.Since then Ive taken my car for an oil change AND recently the water pump went out. Today I took my work van to Alex and the guys at Value Auto Repair, I was greeted immediately, They evaluated the issue I was having (a very loud noise in the cab, I thought it was an exhaust issue) turns out I am no mechanic. They discovered it to be coming from a broken motor mount, I was quoted a very reasonable price and they made the repair right then and I was out of there within 1.5 hours. Transparent pricing, no hidden fees, great customer service, and i was able to be back to work within a couple hours. I highly recommend Value Auto Repair and will be taking my wifes car in later this week for a lingering issue we have been putting off. Hey, I just wanted to say that Alex is a really great guy! Hes super honest and down to earth. Once you talk with him, you can tell that hes not just out to get you. He actually took the time to explain to me what services I might need, and we went from there. He even sent pictures to my phone as he was working on my car. Today was my first time as a customer. Ive been looking for a reasonable place to get my car needs met for a while. The reviews on this one were amazing and so I thought I would give it a try. Israel was very thorough and honest as far as the time it will take for my brakes to be repaired. It took a little over an hour to get all 4 tires done. The lobby has a tv and a lot of books to read. I enjoyed the selection of books about photography, art and gothic tales. I paid a total of $360.00 for my brakes (front and back). I was very happy with his service. He even came out to show me how my brake pads were looking at the time of changing them. I am so glad I found this place. Thank you Israel for all your hard work!

My mother and I came by on Saturday morning for a blinker light issue. We drove in and a mechanic came out, checked our issue out immediately, and the problem required a simple blinker light replacement. He was very kind and professional. My mom has a Hyundai and the Hyundai dealer in National City would only look at her car with a $150 diagnostic fee. I’m really glad Value Auto Repair is around because they are knowledgable and won’t charge unfair prices for my mom. Thank you guys so much! We will definitely be back here for our car needs. Awesome service from Alex! I had 2 cars serviced there, my Accord needed an oil change (he even let me use the oil and filter I brought) and brake fluid change which was really quick, and also had my Camrys front brake rotors resurfaced and new brake pads applied. Alex was kind enough to lend me a car while the Camry was being serviced. The price I was quoted for was loads cheaper than what I was quoted at the car stealerships. Do yourself a favor and bring your cars here!
Good service low prices very friendly. Called around for brake replacement and I was getting high prices on quotes to change my brakes. This place gave me a low price to replace my brakes and I was skeptical about taking my vehicle there. I watched the repair from far away and the corner of my eye so I dont get noticed I was watching them and they did a really good job at checking all my brakes. Not only that they repaired it but also drove n tested my vehicle. HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS PLACE. IM very HAPPY n pleased.

I gifted my granddaughter a 2006 G35. Said her brakes squeeked so I sent her to Superior automotive they gave her Ann oil change(it had one less than 2 months prior, and checked breaks producing an $850 estimate. I then had her go to Value Auto repair n speak with Alex who inspected and drove car n concluded nothing wrong with breaks. Alex at Value gets all of our future business n Superior will never get another penny!
Came by to have the breaks worked on and tires rotated.When they looked at the breaks they let me know the brakes were good and even rotated the tires free of charge.Very friendly and quick. Would happily return wherever we need something fixed and recommend to others.
I cant thank these guys enough for the work they did on my 2011 Honda Fit! The AC went out over 4th of July. I tried all the at home fixes I knew to do, including recharging and troubleshooting relays. No luck. I took it to a place close to my house in Scripps Ranch. They diagnosed it as a bad AC clutch and compressor and priced it at about $930 for replacement. That sounded a bit steep to me, so I went on Yelp and asked for quotes. Many other shops came back with prices between $850-$975. Value Auto replied immediately with $600, including parts and labor. I confirmed a date and took it down there by 8 AM the next day. The work was started immediately and done in about 2 hours! Brand new everything and the AC works like a champ! Pricing worked out to be $379 for parts and all the freon charging magic stuff required and $187 for labor, then some taxes. Definitely more in the range of what I was expecting. They were all very kind, friendly, and provided fantastic service! I even received status updates via text as they performed the maintenance! I will most definitely be taking my car here in the future! Also, very military friendly!
Alex and his team are professionals, efficient, friendly, honest and very cost friendly when it comes to needing a repair on your auto. I came in last weekend to get my rear brakes replaced and prior to leading up to the appointment, we messaged and conversed on the phone a few times for thorough/in depth information on the type of brakes they use for my 2011 honda accord. The appointment only took 1.5 hours and during that time, they let me borrow their loaner car to do some shopping at Walmart about 1.5 miles away. While I was shopping at walmart, Alex (the owner) was texting me the progress and ETA of my car and work they were doing on my car giving me a huge peace of mind knowing they were being so efficient and thorough with their work. By the time, I returned 1.5 hours later, they even provided some more information and suggestions on my car how to better maintain my brakes and auto in the long run. They were also by far beating at least (if not more) 5 other auto companies I reached out to compare brake replacement costs by about half the price! Ive already referred them to my coworker! Thank you Alex for your work and professionalism on my car. I will of course be referring to you in the future for other car repair and/or maintenance needs :-)

Recently, Ive moved to imperial beach left national city and left this mechanic in value auto repair. So, Ive called every mechanic from chula vista and imperial beach to fix a camshaft sensor and they all said 45 - 165 bucks and Ive already have the parts on hand, I was very annoyed cx . So, I went back to national city to my favorite mechanic at value auto repair and they only charge me 40 bucks. Theyre the best what they do and give out a very good price. I left very happy :) cant replace my mechanic theyre the best. I will always come back here to get my car fix

Called Alex, he gave me a quote for a rear brake pads change. Went in to the shop knowing that two of the rear caliper slide pins were frozen but did not disclose this to Alex (i wanted to see if they would overcharge me or add a bunch of useless upgrades to my bill). They were able to get the slide pins out, resurfaced the rotors, and changed the brake pads out WITHOUT changing the original quote. Alex if you read these you officially have a life long customer.

This repair shop is like no other. Alex (Ata) runs his shop with honor and respect. Driving our Toyota Prius down from Los Angeles to catch a flight in Tijuana, the Prius broke down upon arriving at CBX. I initially had the car towed to the Toyota dealer. Dealer advised me it was the transmission. Toyota Dealer wanted a ton of money to repair (Over $5,000!). I was about to send my car to the junkyard before I called Alex from the airport on my way out on vacation. His price was VERY reasonable. He picked up the Prius from the dealer, replaced the transmission and while I had the car there also did the brakes and headlight replacement. Upon returning from vacation, the car was ready and waiting for us. Drove the car back to LA in running condition and better than before. Thanks again for operating your business the way you do. Even though you are in San Diego area and I am in LA, I will now be planning my auto repairs around my trips to San Diego.

2024-02-20 16:39:38I had a really good experience here. I have a 2019 Mini Clubman and I was worried about finding a mechanic that had experience with Mini Coopers, but this garage eased my fears. I contacted them via Yelp and they sent me a quote. I followed up with a phone call at which time they were very responsive & courteous. We texted necessary information to one another and they ordered the parts needed for my brakes repair. When I arrived, they were prepared to work on my car and gave me a timeframe for how long it would take. They called me within the given timeframe and charged me the estimate he previously provided. I plan to go back to them for any future Mini repairs and hope they treat me as well as my first experience!

2024-05-05 20:11:58Been meaning to write a review for awhile! The most cost-saving mechanic I have ever come across! He even called in to see if my repairs could be covered by my cars warranty, something I hadnt even thought about. He also encouraged my husband to buy a part online for cheaper and bring it back for him to install it, instead of buying it through him. Truly a gem and lives up to the businesss name of VALUE Auto Repair! Thank you so much, we will be back :).

2024-01-30 23:13:27Hello, Henry P here, I cant say enough good things about Alex and Value Auto Repair, he has come through so many times and has been literally a lifesaver for me and my car woes. He has consistently and accurately diagnosed and repaired multiple cars for me and has been always straightforward and honest while providing outstanding value and customer service with above average turnaround time. I used to think to be hesitant about advertising my 5 star review because I might get pushed back for service but this is the least I could to in return for the excellent communication, and quality service he and his team has provided for me and my family! In this day and age where it is more common to be taken advantage of, Alex is not one of them to do that, and I am always surprised to hear how patient he is communicating with customers and is thorough in responding to any questions. I always talk about how rough it is to find a good doctor, dentist and mechanic, and I count myself lucky to cross paths with Alex and his business in auto repair, I dont know if he ever gets tired of hearing me describe him as a lifesaver but thats what hes been for me and my vehicles, I cant recommend him and Value Auto Repair enough, thanks for everything Alex!

I had been having brake and wheel bearing problems for quite some time, and I had taken my vehicle to several auto repair shops in search of a solution. Unfortunately, none of them were able to identify the issue and provide a suitable solution.When I brought my vehicle to Value Auto Repair, their skilled technicians were able to quickly diagnose the problem and inform me that my brakes and wheel bearings were faulty. They were able to provide a detailed explanation of the problem as well as an accurate repair estimate.Throughout the entire process, the Value Auto Repair team was also extremely friendly and professional. They kept me updated on the progress of the repairs, including photos, and were able to complete the work on time.My vehicle was running like new when I left Value Auto Repair. The brakes and wheel bearings were in perfect working order, and I was able to drive with confidence once more. 2022-08-06 18:02:45They did a great job! Easy to work with and have great recommendations. Prices arent too extravagant and very fair. I had them install an A/C compressor that I bought online. They were willing to install the compressor for me while other shops did not want to because it wasnt a product that they sell. But Im happy they were willing to regardless because it saved me a lot of money.My original quote from ANOTHER mechanic for my car to have AC fixed was around $1300-1700 depending on parts and they insisted to replace the entire ac and its components.I knew that my compressor a/c clutch was no longer functioning so I bought a new compressor online for around $250. They installed that and recharged the system for around $400 so all in all very satisfied with their service and willingness to work with me. $600 for parts and labor was way better than 1300-1700. Now my A/C works again! Time will tell how good of a quality the compressor is but overall no leaks so we know they did a wonderful job! Recommend this shop for your auto service needs.
