The San Diego job market can be pretty niche in the finance and accounting sector. Kimberly from Vaco, has helped me land my last two accounting jobs (permanent hire). She walked me through each stage of the recruiting process from interviewing and up through onboarding. Under her guidance and expertise in the industry and the client, I felt extremely prepared throughout the process. Mikaela is the best recruiter I have ever worked with. From the first conversation I had with her, I knew that she would be helpful in my job search. As soon as she knows of an opportunity that may be a good match for me, she reaches out immediately. While she is very knowledgeable with her work and wants to place me in a role, she also understands that a good fit is necessary. She listens to what is most important to me and is honest/transparent with me regarding opportunities she comes across, making sure to highlight pros but especially mention the cons. She is also a great sounding board for other opportunities, even outside of Vaco. It is obvious that she truly cares about you and she has even offered to assist with resume/interview/networking questions. I had the pleasure of working with Michael Cole and Chelsea Sanger at Vaco recently. Vaco is a top recruiting company! I have had the privilege to work closely with Mikaela throughout my job search. Mikaela and the rest of the team are very knowledgable and communicate effectively. I found Vaco through Indeed.com when I recently started job searching. Within the hour, I received a call from Mikaela. She greeted me and made me feel welcomed.I told her it was my first time going through a recruiter and she answered every question I had.Although it took a couple of months to find me an employer, (mostly my fault as I had very little experience) Mikaela called me up right after the New Year with good news. She asked if I was interested in a position that had recently opened. I said yes and its all history from there. I connected with Linnea back in April or March of this year with the intention of slowly looking at positions in San Diego as I was based in Colorado. I was laid off in October and after mentioning my interest in other parts of Southern California, Linnea connected me with her counterpart in Orange County, who quickly provided several options and after a very quick turnaround, I was happy to accept a position in exactly the area I was looking for, with a very competitive rate. Linnea has continued to provide not only excellent customer service, but has also become a friend. I would, without hesitation, recommend Olga and her team at Vaco to my colleagues requiring staffing placement services. My law firm had an operational gap in our accounting department that was disrupting our billing services and forcing the lawyers to waste countless hours dealing with A/R issues. We didnt know if we would need one or multiple employees with different skill sets to address our issues. Olga first helped me to identify a solution for our accounting issues and create a profile for the ideal type of employee who could provide a solution to all of our issues. Then, along with Mallory Bullard, they quickly found a candidate who was an exact fit for the position. I applied for a job theyd posted online and was asked to come in to discuss the position. Was a little irritated that when I got there I was told the position had been filled, especially since Id been asked to put on suit and tie and they were dressed in jeans. I didnt understand why they wanted to meet me if the job had been filled, but the recruiter explained they had other many other positions besides that one and Id be a great fit for them. She said they couldnt submit me for those roles until wed met face-to-face. I thought that made sense, so we discussed those jobs, she said shed have some feedback on them within a week, and I went home thinking it hadnt been a complete waste of time.Fast-forward three months. The jobs she told me I was a perfect fit for all got cancelled. I called in weekly for three months and Vaco never even got me an interview. I could see that if I were unemployable, but I have a MBA and eight years of experience in my field. I finally got a job on my own without their help. Vaco was a complete waste of time.

I had a bad experience with San Diego, CA office. I moved to San Diego recently and found out about Vaco on google. I sent them an email explaining my situation and asking how the company works and if I could come in person to bring my resume. I didnt get any reply after 1 week. I called them and the lady told me that someone called Mallory would be handling my industry field but she was not available at the moment. She told me to send Mallory an email, what I immediately did. After another 8 days there was no reply. I sent Mallory a reminder and after another 5 days no reply. At this point we are talking about 3 weeks since my original email. I called again and was told by another lady that Mallory was not available at that moment. I told my story to the lady and she told me there is nothing she can do about it. After around 4 more days I saw a new job from Vaco posted by Mallory and applied immediately. When I called Vaco again telling them that there was a position I applied for and needed to speak to Mallory, they said they were not aware of any position I was talking about. To sum up I kind of feel its a scam.

I’ve never had good luck with temp agency’s and found them to be a waste of time. However, I applied for a position an Andrew Hollyfield w/VACO contacted me in regards to my application. I was a little hesitant to continue because it was through a temp agency, but there was something different that stood out about Andrew; he didn’t want to waste my time nor his and was completely honest from the start. He understood my feelings about temp agencies and understood what i was looking for in a position as well as the company i would work for. Within a day of meeting with Andrew I was hired for the position and a month later I’ve been hired permanently by the company! This was my first time having good luck with a temp agency and would recommend Andrew any day!!
