UWM is by far the best in the business. The communication with all of us was top notch. This was a 2022 single wide manufactured home. Clear to close in 12 days. Spoke with a woman today about why autopay had not gone through; most repetitive and convoluted conversation I have ever had. Don’t know if she was poorly trained or had mentation issues. Will simply resort to old fashioned method of mailing in checks. Simply inane.

My hours where cut at work during covid 19 so they offered covid 19 forbearance assistance they said that the money would be deffered when i get on my feet again so i did it and changed jobs i called as they told me to and accepted the offer verbally as they told me to it has been 15 months of applying and accepting the program and they keep telling me that i have not accepted and need to reapply now they said deferral is off the table and they want to modify my loan they constantly hang up on you or lie they tell you what you want to hear so you can hang up be careful with this company i am now getting a lawyer to hopefully fix the problem i also contacted Consumer Financial Protection Bureau incase i am not the only one going thru this

United Mortgage helped us buy our first home. The process was simple and easy, and they communicated throughout the way. Loan Approval came within 2 days of us finding a home. Heard of them through Radradio and it was the worst experience I have ever had. Phone appointments made by shelby that never happened and no explanation as to why. Once we finally got a hold of someone and started the process they screwed up our paper work. They asked for the same papers multiple times from us and our realtor,removed loan contingencies before the bank said they could and didnt tell us for a week, werent returning phone calls or emails. I finally got a hold of someone named Joe who tried to fix shelbys mistake and was so nice. Unfortunately, it was too late and our realtor suggested looking into a new lender because in all her years she has never heard of such unprofessionalism. We shortly found out from other lenders and realtors that united whole sale lending is on a lot of black lists of who not to work with.Luckly we closed 8 days past our original escrow date and to this day shelby never reached out or apologized for any of it. If ypu go here only work with Joe but I would suggest going elsewhere and save you sanity.

Had a phone call with Shelby in which he hung up on me. I try and call him back and get an answering machine. I email him and he responds several hours later. Oh sorry my phone died did you still want to talk? Oh no I totally changed my schedule thinking I could have a important conversation with him. We are closing on our vacation home tomorrow and am grateful for the hard work Peter and his team put in. Originally we had multiple transactions going on at once, Peter covered the appraisals out of pocket. Very generous (over 1k+). When the deal fell through (to no fault of Peter - we received a bad home inspection report) he insisted that we not reimburse him and not to worry about it. It took us a few more months to find the right property/deal with our realtor but when we did Peter and his team were still there for us and closed the deal in 19 days! Mind you, this was during the Thanksgiving holiday when most were gone the entire week and appraisers were taking extra long. Crazy! Peter is very sharp, well connected and creative. He is responsive and fully engaged in the entire process and knows how to close a deal. Im confident we received the best possible rate and would not hesitate recommending Peter and his team to friends and family. Pleasant to work with, trustworthy, professional and experienced. We started the process with Shelby and his team after hearing Rob on 98 Rock talk him up so much. We thought the absence of return phone calls, texts and emails and generally no questions answered was normal for this industry- its definitely not! We almost gave up on the home buying process because of the lack of knowledge and communication from United Wholesale Lending, it was horribly discouraging. Thankfully we found another lender that was knowledgeable and always available. Maybe Shelby and his team would have been better suited for someone whos purchased multiple homes and doesnt need their hands held as a first time home buyer like us. We really liked working with the United Wholesale Mortgage team. Peter and the team did our mortgage when we bought our new home - handled everything smoothly. We felt the whole process was effortless on our end, the UWM team did all the work.Peter then contacted us about a year later when the market dipped seriously low on rates to ask us if we wanted to refinance our mortgage to get an even lower rate. We weren’t paying attention to the market but Peter was. It was a good thing Peter called when he did due to the rates spiked the next day but we were locked into a seriously lower rate than we had. Peter was always available, and returned my texts or calls very promptly (and believe me I made a few).We have purchased properties in the past but have never had a process go through as fast as smoothly as this did.Peter called us about 12 days into it and said we were ready to close any time we wanted to. I do not recommend United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM). It is a lender and not a bank. So, after contracting a mortgage loan, you are stuck with your initial deal, and they will not allow you to negotiate a lower interest rate based on the market. You will spend a few hours trying to talk to someone. Bottom line, they will redirect you to a broker, JWH Financial, the middle man. UWM only care about making sure that you pay your loan each month. Even if you are a good standing customer, unfortunately, you are just a number. I do not recommend UNW. They do not care about customers; they just accept transactions.A few years ago, I refinanced my mortgage with JWH Finance and John Sheetz (broker). Everything was pretty straightforward; they followed the rules like any other broker. Except they never mentioned or informed me that United Wholesale Mortgage (lender) was not a bank. As a result, I could not negotiate a lower rate, and I have had to restart the re-fininancing process again. You cannot renegotiate your loan with a lender. They only manage your money. So, I reached FWH Finance to lower my interest rate and, it took me some tricks and a few months before reconnecting with JWH Finance. They never returned my calls. And finally, when they reached me back, refinancing had just been a nightmare. They asked me for the wrong information; They asked for IRS form 1120, US Corp Income Tax Return, but I am either on w2 or 1099. I was amazed by the lack of professionalism this time. No follow-up, and I am still waiting for the result of the case I opened. I will say that they do not care about customers either, especially if your case requires some workaround. For instance, they could not understand what to do on 1099. In addition, as a customer, they never reached out to tell me that I could benefit from a lower interest rate for my existing loan. Their strategy is to look for one-time customers, get their commission, and that is it. Their goal is to complete as many transactions as they can. So, I do not recommend working with JWH Finance, and United Wholesale Mortgage or you will be trapped in some difficult situation over time.

This is one of the worst agencies Ive ever dealt with. Theyve outright lied to me multiple times now. They pre-approved us to buy a home at certain rate, and then once we had our offer accepted and we had a limited time to get our loan, they bumped it up .3%. I was required to go with an appraisal company that they chose (Appraisal Nation). Who gave me a quote for the appraisal then changed me an extra $250 for nothing, which UWL approved. Then UWL lied about approving it, until appraisal nation sent me an e-mail that confirmed they did. UWL promised to reimburse me. I had to contact them multiple times about it and then they only reimbursed me half. We closed in August and they told in writing multiple times that our first bill wouldnt be till October. We thought that was nice and would give us time to manage our expenses. I paid that bill, but then received a call saying we had a past bill from September that was overdue and they would report us to the credit agency if we didnt pay it immediately. So now we have 2 bills due in one month, because they just keep lying to us. Do not use this agency. They are awful.

I am extremely disappointed in the service of this financial group. The manager of my loan, Eric, provided poor response time to my inquiries, and when it came time to sign my final documents they were incorrect. To add, it took almost 6 weeks for the loan to be approved. I can understand this due to what is happening in the world due to COVID, but his attitude and poor customer service was inexcusable. When I called Eric about the issues he told me to call and handle it myself, instead of taking the action of fixing the issue himself. I was so frustrated I called Shelby to complain about Eric. He took my call immediately and advised he would handle and call back. I have yet to hear from him and have only received a text from Eric. I am extreme disappointed in the quality of customer service after they came so highly recommended from a trusted friend. The worst mortgage company Ive ever experienced. They deal with so many different sub-contractors who dont have access to your loan. So you end up having to call 15 times to get the sub-contractor who services your loan. They transfer you as soon as they dont know the answer. By transfer I mean hang up on you so you have to call back again to wait in the cue. Once we can refinance I will without a doubt refi so I wont have to deal with this terrible company. The one thing a mortgage company should be great at is customer service. Wish I could give them 1 star. I applied online and sent in everything they asked for and received no response for days. When I finally did reach the loan officer, I was told the underwriter is backed up and would get to it as soon as they could. Eight weeks later of being strung along on the hope that the process would begin soon (after multiple calls that go to a full mailbox and multiple emails) I have come to the conclusion that the loan has been abandoned. I could have used that time to find a loan officer actually willing to work. A refinance for me would have taken off $700 a month off my mortgage which is huge right now. Also, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac refinances are now imposing a 0.5% fee on loans that close after September 1st. UWL is a complete let down and waste of time.
