Tim Newbolt was so amazing. I got fitted for my entire bag. He took his time with every club making sure I got to swing all heads with all different set ups. Giving me feed back but also showing me the numbers. Even going back to re hit heads just to be sure. I look forward to seeing Tim to check my numbers again very soon.Got my clubs in less time then even Tim told me. Played my first round yesterday and what a feeling having a club in my hand that I feel confident is the right club for me. Couldn’t be happier with my decision to get fitted with true spec and especially Tim. Thank you guys so much

Tim at True Spec is patient, knowledgeable, highly experienced and thoughtful. Do not trust anyone with your club fittings and do not buy anything without being fitted with a REAL fitter like Tim. The master club fitter (Tim Newbolt) was very knowledgeable, thorough, patient and kind. He explained all aspects of my fitting and how he arrived at his recommendations. He compared the launch monitor numbers of my current clubs to those I tried out so that I could see the differences. Tom was very competent and I have confidence that my new set of clubs will allow me the chance to gain some distance and improve my scores.

My fitter was Tim Newbolt, and he was professional, highly knowledgeable and accomodating during my entire fitting. He fully explained all the relevant data points in my fitting, and referenced that data when both offering and making configuration options and choices. I found it extremely valuable to utilize the outdoor fitting experience, versus hitting into a net or screen. I am providing this review prior to my receipt of the written materials, so I reserve comment on that element of the offering. My one constructive comment is the fitting uses solid core range balls. The ball type is taken into consideration in the analysis but a higher grade ball would enhance the fitting experience.

The club fitting is so more than just club fitting. If you are looking for a way to discovery more about your swing and game than I would really recommend signing up. Even without the new clubs my game is better. What you will discover is better than taking a lesson and finding what you need to do to improve your game. Its easy to tell that Tim Newbolt genuinely cared about finding the right equipment for my specific swing. He was careful to fit my current swing, including swing faults & physical limitations, rather than fit me to the swing I should have. He was willing to take as much time as necessary to experiment with myriad combinations of heads & shafts and he patiently answered all of my questions in an easy-to-understand way, even well after the fitting had been completed. Although there was a lot of technical equipment & data, it was refreshing to see that Tim placed just as much value on feel as he did on the tons of data at his disposal. As a result of this fitting, I am 100% confident that I found & invested in the equipment best suited for my unique swing & physical limitations. I no longer feel like I need to fight my clubs. I have been fitted by other places in prior years but none of those experiences come close to the experience I had with Tim @ True Spec. Its the best money Ive ever spent on golf.

This was my first time being fitted and I’m an 8 handicap. I did irons & wedges only and I was pretty fatigued & I will return for my woods at a later date. I definitely suggest splitting them up if you can. It was a rollercoaster of a fitting, I wasn’t hitting it great with any of the equipment and I was getting pretty frustrated. Tim was very patient with me & we found something that worked extremely well. I could not be more ecstatic to receive my new irons! Thank you Tim.

Had a fantastic fitting experience with Tim at True Spec. He was super flexible with fitting me in last minute on my vacation down to the desert. I didnt even have my current clubs with me, but still feel like I got a full fitting experience. Tim was able to walk me through a few shafts before landing on the best one. Then we hit 5 different heads before zoning in on two that suited me. He walked me though all of the data he collected and explained what they all meant.By the end of the session I felt very comfortable over the ball, and my ball flight was a thing of beauty. I ended up ordering the iron set on the spot!Overall a great experience - would highly recommend if you are down in the Palm Springs area

I had a good experience at the True Spec Palm Desert location. I chose the location for the ability to hit off of grass and get that club interaction during the fitting process. The only trade off is that this location is at the Shadow Ridge driving range and the balls used for the fitting are range balls. I was told the balls spin 5-600 rpm more and on average fly 10-15 yards shorter than a premium ball, so it’s an adjustment that needs to be made from the launch monitor numbers and ball flight. My fitter was Tim Newbolt. Tim was very helpful and went above and beyond for my fitting. I already had my club manufacturer chosen, so we were able to focus on the model selection and numbers during the fitting. He was quick in recognizing when something wasn’t working and thorough in his club adjustments to create confidence over the ball while also achieving target numbers and ball flight. He was very accommodating when it came to any requests or questions that I had. I am a left handed golfer so I understand I am part of a small percentage of the golfing market but I hope that True Spec will continue to try to expand their left hand offerings, especially being one of the premier fitters in the country. I will not hesitate to come back to this location and get fit with Tim for a new set of irons if True Spec is able to get the left hand models I am looking for into their fitting matrix.

An exceptional experience!My golf coach suggested I should be fitted for my irons and wedges. In his opinion the current shafts were too long and heads sat at the wrong angle. He recommended True Spec Golf given you can see the ball flight outside rather than hitting into an indoor screen.I met Tim Newbolt of True Spec Golf for my fitting last week.After completing the pre fitting survey Tim had done his homework and knew my golf profile and why I wanted the fitting. The process was detailed and informative.After a little over two hours we had determined the most suitable shaft and heads to suit the swing metrics for my irons.Tim was patient, supportive and encouraging during the whole process. He very kindly bent two of my short wedges saving me the cost of two out of a potential seven new clubs.I would highly recommend any golfer interested in improving their game go through this process....and yes my golf coach was absolutely correct in his observations!Thanks again Tim

First off, I want to premise this by saying I am a serious golfer (0 handicap) and I take my equipment purchases seriously. At the recommendation of a friend, I booked this fitting in Palm Desert and flew down from Seattle just for this.It DID NOT disappoint. Tim Newbolt if a professional, through and through. We had exchanged a few emails prior to the fitting and he was ready to work with me from the moment I stepped on site. He listened to what I wanted, and catered the fitting to what I wanted, and provided invaluable advice, feedback and information throughout. The facility, setup and experience was so smooth and effortless (except for the fatigue of roughly 160 swings in 98 degree heat over the course of 2.5 hours). I am 100% confident that we came to the right setup for me with a new set of irons and I ordered them on the spot. We also did a driver fitting and Tim was forthright in that my current gamer was so close to the best setup we could find, that I didnt end up ordering a new driver.I cannot recommend Tim highly enough, and would send anyone to him that is interested in getting the best fitting experience that the market has to offer. Ill be back for future fittings for sure. Thank you, Tim.

After having an absolute nightmare of a fitting with Club Champions, I was either going to quit the game or figure out how to correct the mess my game had become as a result of having the wrong clubs and shafts that I paid far too much money for the results.I contacted Tim Newbolt at True Spec and told him my tale of woe. He gave me enough information and confidence in his ability to work with me that I booked a fitting.The results were nothing short of incredible. He ascertained that not only was I misfit for my Driver shaft, my request to have it built to a 45” playing length was ignored and I was struggling to hit a 46” misfit shaft. We found a combination of flex and length that immediately produced more on center contact, less dispersion and =/- 10 yards of improved distance. Continuing on with the irons, the shafts in those were also not appropriate for my swing speed and launch angle. He was able to suggest 3 better options and launch monitor testing validated the best one for me. We also worked on gaps in the upper end of my set and he was able to help me tighten up my missing yardages.I cannot say enough about the quality of the fitting and the confidence I have that I am on my way to enjoying the game again. It’s a great facility, Tim was highly knowledgeable and precise in his process, and unlike other fittings I’ve had in the past, I didn’t feel like I was getting pushed into purchasing the most expensive products they offered. I felt the cost of the fitting was fair and would refer anyone back to Tim. i like the fact that I get my specs and can buy anywhere.I wanted to buy on the spot but I have a hard time with the companies pricing. I dont know how the business model works and I know the price of new clubs are up but for a company that is in the business of selling clubs I thought the prices were out of line and above retail prices I could get elsewhere.A great experience but felt the overcharge in club pricing was not needed.

Tim Newbolt is an expert, and indeed a Master Club Fitter. His knowledge on equipment and golf mechanics is amazing. He fitted me expertly for a complete set, narrowing down both club heads, shafts, and grips until we arrived at the perfect match for me. The facility at Shadow Ridge is beautiful, and extremely high tech. With the new clubs I was averaging 20 more yards per club. After hitting my driver, he told me to put it away because he said he won’t have anything better than what I have. Such an amazing experience, he’s so chill too. I am a 10 handicap looking for more distance in my driver. I had a fitting for both my driver, 3 wood and 5 wood or 19 degree rescue club. Tim was my fitter. He was clearly very experienced and knowledgeable. He actually played on the Canadian tour at one point. Tim spent a lot of time with me and we tried many head/shaft combos looking for what worked best for my swing. We found a Calloway driver and 3 wood as well as a Taylormade rescue club that added approximately 10 yards in distance per club and were very easy for me to hit. My shot dispersion was excellent. I hit a lot of balls. I would definitely recommend NOT doing your whole bag at the same time. I am in very good shape and could not imagine going to irons next after two hours of pounding woods. If you are looking for a professional fitting, do not look any further than Tim and True Spec as they were excellent.Bill Bratton

I did the full bag fit program. Being a former golf profession 25 years ago, was when I had my last custom fitting. Tim was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything very easily. The shot tracker and other equipment he used showed me the results first hand. Regardless of your handicap, if you play a bunch of golf, definitely worth getting custom fit. I scheduled a session to be fit for new irons / wedges. I have played with my current set for almost 10 years and was not sure what irons to purchase. I did a Driver fitting 3 years ago with another provider and really liked the process. I have been looking at many iron brands, but knew that I wanted / needed to be fitted - as I really want to play my best golf. My fitting was with Brady and he was terrific. He has an easy style of communication, that helped me relax and trust the fitting process. We discussed iron types / brands, etc. and the type of player I am. After hitting with my irons, we reviewed my Trackman data and he shared where the opportunities for me were. As mentioned prior, I came into the fitting with the intent of being brand agnostic. When we were finished, I was surprised and very pleased with the results. I believe that “numbers don’t lie” and after hitting many shaft and iron combinations, I was fit with a set of irons that improved my ball speed, ball flight and overall distance by about 7.5 yards per club. Brady shared HOW the data works and with the correct equipment, translates to overall improved performance. The cost aspect is real - it does cost more to be fitted, but I can be confident in my equipment, as it will be built to my specific swing, by a single True Spec club builder. That’s pretty awesome! I look forward to getting my new clubs and completing a follow up after playing a few rounds with them to make any needed adjustments. All included with my purchase. This was a really good experience. I really like the fact that there is an unbiased approach to manufacturer selection. I was fitted for a driver and must have hit at least 12 combinations of shafts and heads. It was the first time I could actually feel the differences in the balance and weight of each set up. The most comprehensive fitting I ever had. Brady is a true professional, who explained everything clearly and guided me through the process. What I especially appreciate is his candor when he advised that as far as my metal woods are concerned, any improvement would be very marginal and purchasing new woods would not be worth my while. Very much looking forward to my new irons and wedges. Finally, I find the performance guarantee rather valuable and think that is an added plus over any specific demo fitting!Update: Few months later had a club break and returned to Brady for warranty repair. Weeks passed and no response to phone calls and texts. Finally had to call HQs and complain. Found out Brady no longer works for them. They make arrangements to have the club (sitting somewhere) sent to Scottsdale for repair. Another phone call and another month, I get my club back. Not very professional and not well handled--they should be on top of things after an employee leaves. So I am downgrading my original review from 5 to 4 stars.

Brady is a top notch fitter and a perfectionist.Thorough and professional, we fine tuned ideal specs for my irons by matching various head and shaft combos with an eye on distance, spin, dispersion, swing weight and a host of other variables. Hitting off both real grass and artificial using trackman allowed us to confirm feel & metrics. He also confirmed my current driver settings to be ideal. Having the confidence to know you’re playing the correct clubs fitted for lie & lofts, weight and tempo, and properly dialed in should give me that extra edge during my men’s club tourneys. This was my second iron fitting with True Spec Golf at Shadow Ridge in Palm Desert. This time it was with Tim Newbolt. The facility is great because it is outdoors on real turf. The technology is great using the GC Quad and countless iron heads and shafts. And Tim was great because of his expertise, no-pressure approach, and flexibility. He understood my personal limitations and patiently found a set of irons and customized them for my swing.I have one recommendation to True Spec - consider using a 7 iron for fittings and include a follow-up session once your set is delivered.I would highly recommend Tim and True Spec even for recreational golfers. Make an appointment, dont feel intimidated, and commit to improving your game.

Brady at the Shadow Ridge True Spec Golf was extremely helpful in deciding which irons I should go with. I had lots of questions and he answered all of them with clarity. I’ll be waiting with confidence that my game will improve when I get to play with them. I’ll be coming back to get fitted for a new driver. I’m pushing 80 years of age and have all the time in the world to reduce my 16 handicap back to the 12 index I had last summer. I love golf and value fine getting better fitting clubs.

Brady was very patient and I was just wanting to get thru the process without him suggesting I go and get fitted for a tennis racket instead. The process was simple in that he took the time to explain how and what he was going to be doing. Brady fit me for a driver and with all his magic literally got me 25/30 more yards of carry and cut my spin rate in half.....awesome experience. Thanks again Brady!

After a poor experience at a different club fitting company, I decided to try True Spec Golf in Palm Desert. The three hour drive was well worth it. I found the Master Fitter, Barry, to be attentive, very thorough and professional through the entire process. He patiently tried a number of club head and shaft combinations adjusting each until the best fit was determined. I felt as if he tried to fit the clubs to my swing vs. just crunching numbers. A full bag fitting and custom club purchase is not inexpensive, however my experience with Barry and True Spec was worthwhile.

I was there 4.5 hours and Brady was great. Looking at my Trackman file. My existing 7 iron averaged 148 yards with the adjustments in terms of improving my lie, shaft, club the average was 171!yards. Similar change with all new clubs the only one without huge change was driver which only increased by 11 yards. New clubs on the way 28 day lead time!

My experience with Brady was great. My miss with my driver is a pull hook. I thought there was no way to fix that without changing my swing. Brady fixed that problem very quickly. I hit shots, that at impact I knew were going to hook, but they did not with the club Brady put in my hand. It was amazing to see a ball that I know is going to be a low hook, turn out to be a slight pull, but high and still in the fairway.Thank you, Darrin

Jake Owen is an experienced fitter for golf clubs. I enjoyed the almost three hours we spent dialing in my game. My fitting experience with Brady could not have been better. He went above and beyond to make sure that we dialed in the right fit, and spent time afterwards answering a ton of questions that I had about my current setup and gapping issues that I was having. If there was one thing that I could change, it would be that range balls were used since this is an outdoor fitting facility (which is a huge plus) that shares the driving range, and it would have been ideal to hit with premium balls. Other than that, which Im sure is out of True Specs control, I could not have asked for a better experience. I definitely recommend if youre in the area!
