David was awesome and helpful as was the service pro. My 5 year old daughter had an amazing experience getting her first bike as a gift from her grandparents. We LOVE the bike we got and the adorable bell and kick stand to go with. It was wonderful that she could try the bike out in the parking lot. Amazing experience. :)

Shimano is recalling 100,000s of cranks that can come un-bonded and could lead to a crash. This is a very well known problem among the cycling community. Which I have personally experienced with a Dura-ace 9000 crank breaking in half during a ride in 2017. And now I have a Ultegra 6800 crank that I removed in July 2023 because it was showing evidence of separating. After hearing of the recall, I took the 6800 crank into Trek Superstore in La Mesa for inspection. Initially, they said that it was ok and not defective with no evidence of un-bonding or separation. I think it is clearly separating and becoming un-bonded. Either the technician doesnt know what he is doing, or he is doing exactly what Shimano wants him to do. which is denying as many claim as possible. I would think that they would want to error of the side of safety. A couple of days later, the service manager, Ivan, called me to apologize about the mistake that one of the technicians made in the evaluation of the crank.He asked me to bring it back and they would submit the claim immediately. I went back today, Saturday 10/7, and he again apologized for the mistake, and it would be handled right away. After I spoke with Ivan, I went browsing around the store and another employee came over to see if I needed any help. We chatted for a few minutes about a bike on display, He asked what my name was. After i told him he again apologized about the crank problem. It turned out he was the manager and was very concerned that they did not get such a safety item right the first time. I think that no matter how hard you try, mistakes are going to happen. Its what you do to make it right that counts and they definitely did what they had to do to fix it. So kudos to them for that. I posted some pics below, one of the 9000 arm that broke and two of the 6800.

I take my bikes here bc the staff are very willing to help me understand what parts I can keep a little longer vs what needs replaced. They have a deep understanding of cycling culture as well as the bikes themselves. Oh yeah and my bikes come back looking and riding great when I take them in. Thank you Jim and Ivan.

Wednesday I brought my E bike to Trek for flat tire repair. The employee was very helpful. Suggested I buy Armor tubes which help to eliminate most flat tires in the future and if you get a flat, you can actually travel a little ways on it without ruining your rim. Today I sent my friend in that’s in the same bike program I’m in and she had both front and back flats and she too is now having Amour tubes put into her tires to help prevent future flats. Both of us are very thankful for this professional store in La Mesa, California.

Service could be much better.I had to call and call and eventually got someone on the phone to check on my bike. They had said they would send a text when it was ready but it never came I had to call. During said call they said it was gtg but they recommended a new derailleur which they assured would be ready before EOD.With less than an hour to go I had to call again (4 attempts before an answer) and the guy put me on hold for over 6 minutes and came back saying the guy was still working on it. Defo vibes of nothing had been done and they were scrambling. Just give realistic times I dont mind waiting if there is transparency.Plenty of bike shops who care more about service, no need to bother with this place.

The guys in the shop are great. Even though i didnt have any luck with them having the pieces I needed. Jim and (I cant recall the younger guys name) were really friendly and knowledgeable. I ride an older bike. 2008 stumpjumper FSR. A lot of the shops are snobbish and dismissive as soon as they see my bike roll through the door. Kudos Ttrk Bicycle La Mesa.

Super nice people and expert service people at a great shop. Big selection of bikes. By shopping on the Trek website and using the find local option I was able to locate an extremely hard to find Trek Rail 9.7 E-MTB in my size and the most awesome color. Really enjoying the bike which was set up perfectly. Well worth spending 5 hours driving to get there. The Rail totally redefines mountain biking, feels and corners just like a regular lightweight MTB but makes you into Superman on the hills and dips and totally eats gnarly downhills. My first ride was 25 miles with 3100 feet of climbing, at the end the battery still had 49%. (I was going a bit easy on my non-motorized friend.) Finding that with 4 selectable levels of assist you can still get a great workout or choose to go on a longer ride without suffering if you just gear down and pedal a bit. Awesome!! Id have to say you are good for just letting the thing rip for a couple of hours or working a bit to get in 50+ miles. As a technical note: Previously rode the Shimano EP-8000 system on a Canyon for 6 months. After riding the Trek I think the Bosch feels more natural - and is more responsive in technical spots and tight trails, seems to stop and start more naturally and not stall out as easily. In the E-MTB mode its about perfect. The suspension tuning and bike geometry on the Rail is simply brilliant with the power unit integration.

I appreciated the pleasant experience I had at Trek Bicycle in La Mesa. The staff greeted me immediately and one of the staff members walked out to my car with me to take a look at my double Bob stroller. Without hesitation, he lifted it out of my car and brought it into the store for me to take a further look (super helpful because these are heavy...mama of two in tow, and any help is much appreciated, so thank you!). There was a little wait time until the Bob could be looked at by another team member, but I came in totally impromptu. Luckily, they had the materials I needed to replace the tire tubes and within the hour, I was able to leave with exactly what I needed. Not only did I trust the integrity of the staff and their judgement with what needed to be replaced, I trusted in the integrity of my stroller while I went out for a 3 mile stroller run with my two littles safely the same day! It was a smooth ride :)

DO NOT take your cycle here to get serviced. I brought my cycle in for a Level II service with zero issues (just needed cleaning and tuneup). Now I have stripped out parts, with an unrideable cycle due to the chain popping off of the transmission anytime power is applied… They did NOTHING to correct the issue and will have to take her somewhere else for parts/technical expertise.

My bike trailer tire was flat and would not hold air. I brought the tire to Trek, was greeted with a smile and friendly prompt service. Prior to my recent visit, I visited Trek looking at bikes, they have always been promptly helpful and very knowledgeable. Extremely friendly and patient with my kids. I went in for 2 bike helmets at the last minute for my toddler and preschooler and they have a few great options in different colors. The guy helping us gave them stickers to put on their helmets and bikes, and they have a great policy that we can return it in 30 days if it doesnt work out and a 1 year crash policy. I highly recommend and will come back as the kids need bigger bikes.

Great quick service with friendly staff! Been coming here for difficult to do installs (tubeless tire!) and quick tune ups outside my pay grade. Love I can actually get service done in 24 hours. Lots of shops should follow this business model. Sure, you sell bikes, but your bread and butter can be service without having to wait a week or more to get your bike back.

Ive used Trek Bicycle La Mesa for everything from buying bikes and gear to tune-ups and repairs. Often Ive come in for adjustments that they were able to do immediately. Ive also had good luck getting flats fixed on the spot. Although its a popular store, they do their best to get me back on my bike as quickly as possible. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. They are able to adjust and repair my recumbent trike with an electric motor as well.

I was looking for a mid-range mountain bike to ease into the sport (Ive always been a road cyclist) and John and Todd were exceptional in providing me with some options and allowing me to try out a few bikes. My rear carbon wheel needed to alignment, front carbon fork needed tensioning, and bottom bracket inspected. My rear wheel was creaking really bad after hitting a pothole on PCH by the airport the past Saturday. When I got my bike back it was cleaned, greased and shiny! He has a very easy-to-be-with personality and knowledgeable. This is a great store. I’ve been coming here for about twenty years. I was sized up for my first road bike at this Trek location and I find the same incredible service now that I had with my initial visits. I’ve found solid bikes, quality gear, and have had expert tuneups here. I’ve always found the staff to deliver amazing service, willing spirits, and honest good help. I bought my son a brand new bike a month ago. My daughter took the bike there to be assembled. A week after the the back brakes didn’t work. They adjusted and fixed it for free. Two weeks later the chain fell off. It cost 44.00 to fix that. I’m no expert in bikes, but I know the chain shouldn’t be falling off a new bike. And I definitely shouldn’t have had to pay for that. They should have some kind of guarantee on their work.

As a newbie to the cycling word I walked in feeling a bit unsure and lost. Luckily, Alexandria was immediately there to assist me, guide me, and answer any and all my questions. Ive been there the last two weekends and both times walked away feeling more secure and knowledgeable in riding. I interacted with two other gentlemen but sadly did not get their names. One of them was extremely helpful in getting me situated on my bike with my new shoes and providing me some guidance on regular maintenance. We had a fantastic experience at Trek Bicycle La Mesa. First, they politely greeted us when we came in but didnt hawk over us. We had already called (spoke to Tim) and knew which models and sizes of Marlin were in stock. Thats where we headed. When we were ready to test ride, Tim and some of the other staff helped us get the bikes down and outside. They worked with us at every step to ensure we found the right frame size for each of us. Deciding on accessories and getting them installed and setup was very straightforward and we happily picked up the bikes a couple days later.

Took my 25 year old Cannondale in to restore it to an operational state so I could start riding after a long break. First thing I noticed was how friendly and attentive the staff was with me and each other. They clearly were present and helping each other which made me confident they cared about a good environment to provide great service. They price matched a new bike for us recently so we didnt have to drive to LA. Definitely not like most chain stores (and they also have other brands besides Treks, so check them out if you had something else in mind, they might carry it).

The only place I will ever take my bicycle for service. Miss Randi, Evan, Brandon and Jon are the best representatives any customer could ask for. They give the best customer service of all bicycle shops that I have ever visited! When it comes to what you would like for your bicycle they will offer you the best of equipment in which they have the ability to obtain for you at the most reasonable prices that you can afford. If there is something unable for them to acquire you will be advised and given suggestions. The best thing is they will let you make payments until your retail is paid in full. I can not explain in any words the quality of the workmanship. My rider will always be at its best for me as long as this Trek Superstore is always open. They gave me a free Trek ball cap and shirt. Management and technicians at this store are great!I dropped my Trek off last week for a wheel replacement, I was sure this was going to take long as it was a warranty claim.Today, Brian called me to let me know that my Trek was ready. Not only did they do the wheel, they also took care of my chain replacement and tubeless adjustments. I had such a great experience at the Trek La Mesa store. The associates greeted me as soon as I walked in and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. They were so excited when I asked if there were any trail bells in the store (I think they had just received new bells and were stoked someone had asked for them). Anyways they helped quickly and even installed the new bell on my bike. The man helping me showed me a cool stop to install the bell that’s less noticeable and would be out of the way when riding. Before I left I noticed my bike was making a weird sound so they took me over to one of their bike technicians who inspected my bike for me. She showed me a lot about my bike I didn’t know and even walked me through some of the cleaning and maintenance process. We learned (via YouTube video) how to adjust the quick release spring on my front tire and she even straightened my bent derailer. Over all I felt extremely welcome in the store. Everyone was very knowledgeable about the kind of bike I was riding, I think most of them also ride mountain bikes, and were very helpful. I’ve never been in a store where the employees were actually excited to help me and this wonderful experience is gonna keep me coming back. I would definitely check out the Trek La Mesa store for any help with your bike or if you just want to meet some really cool people in the bike community!

I have enjoyed my carbon fiber road bike for 20 years that I originally purchased from thr trek LA Mesa store. The only part that I ever replaced was the right brake / shifter handle and easy general maintance. I took it in last week for a full service and the bike was returned in 3 days so I appreciated there prompt turn around time. I brought it back several days later due to a slight grinding sound that was only reproducible at 2 gear settings and going up a hill so they couldnt have foreseen that. It was a small ring problem, they overnighted the part, installed and no charge for the part and service. We all have a personal budget and I greatly appreciate there sense of urgency, attention to detail, and concern for my budget. There attentive and quality of service was much appreciated. Jim from the service department at Trek La Mesa helped me resurrect an old Trek 820 of mine. He made several suggested upgrades to the bike to maximize comfort and ride ability. It turned out better than I had hoped. As a result, I’m planning on bringing other bikes to him as well, including my Cannondale. Finally, a really nice guy, David, not only helped me with the helmets. he explained the differences with all the choices I had to pick from. He spent quite a bit of time with me, and also went in the back to get the right size jersey for me to buy too. Ashley was my favorite go to salesperson, but she works in the back now, so happy I found David.

I walked in a few weeks back to get a tool to adjust my seat. I also asked a member of the staff about where to put my seat, and he directed me to the manager. The manager (I forget his name!) then pulled out a ruler, and took some measurements, and began to explain to me every adjustment my (non brand name!) bike could accept. Then he asked me if I had a few minutes he set me up on their super awesome bike adjustment/measuring machine (you sit on it and he controls the parameters which adjust seat height and distance from handlebars) and then he took those measurements and re-compared them to my bike just to make sure I was comfortable. Outstanding service and neighborhood bike shop. I appreciate how dedicated they are to giving their customers a great cycling experience.

I ordered my Trek Domane 3 AL, they said maybe 3 months for arrival, Trek La Mesa was able to find my bike within a week. Picked it up and been riding every morning. This is a great gravel/road bike, gear ratio is perfect for my area, North, East, West or South, hills gravel roads, rough asphalt. Hils, hills and more hills. I love this bike!

The Trek Superstore La Mesa carries a wide variety of products. When an item you want is not available in the store the friendly and knowledgeable staff will order it and call you when the item has arrived. I have never waited more than a few days for any item I have ordered. The sales staff (Greg, Ashley, Mark R., Tyler, Kurt and Mark) always greet you when you enter the store and ask if they can help you. The service (mechanics) staff (Chris and Brandon) are helpful and work hard to successfully complete any repairs in the shortest time possible. When I visit the Trek Superstore La Mesa, I know I will be treated well and my product request and/or service need will be satisfactorily dealt with.

The follow up was terrible by Brian at TREK La Mesa, Bike was shipped with damages from the carrier, and not built as promised.I was looking for a TREK Rail 9.7.I was visiting my brothers house in La mesa and searched the trek website and said there was the bike I wanted in stock. Went over there and test rode it, the sales rep was really awesome. I decided to buy the bike and have it shipped up to me in Spokane. Paid full retail, plus $225 shipping and $80 Box fee. Box was open and parts were missing when it was unloaded from the UPS truck. Ended up as some brake parts missing, there was a deep scratch in the down tube, and the seat post and rear gearing was not right when it arrived, they said they would build it disassemble it for shipping only(thats why there was extra charges)Ive fixed it one my own I emailed TREK and they said they would talk to carrier. Emailed 4 times with No response.. The bike is cool, its not totally right. Wish i would have bought it local from a shop that would help. Expected more for $6750.00

It was the type of service a person could only get from their local and friendly old school mom and pop type bike shop. My derailleur was backing itself out over and over causing a small keeper washer to fail. This shop had an extra broken derailleur on hand that they salvaged the needed part from! That is very rare to see today! Most shops just throw away everything that isn’t new, packaged and for sale. This possibly saved me a years worth of waiting or riding with a compromised derailleur. This review is based on the shops performance during COVID Reopening.All I was trying to do was figure out if the shop carried tubeless tape. I tired calling to save me a trip down to the shop. Can’t get through over the phone. Voice recording says you can order online and pickup curbside or text the shop number for faster customer service. I texted asking if they carried the item I was looking for. No response. I decided to drive to the shop, wait in the hot sun for 30 mins, eventually I am let in and told they don’t have any tubeless tape in stock.
