Fantastic experience with this shop. Super professional super knowledgeable. Shattered my helmet in a crash. The helmet did its job and more. MIPS system really does work. And on top of it all the TREK crash replacement gave me a brand new helmet after the crash! So sweet. I love the helmet and I love this store.

Ive been a regular service department customer since I bought a Trek Domane + LT private party last year. The service managers are knowledgeable and listen well to customers, and are willing to share their expertise on diagnosis and repair strategies. They also dont have a service reservation policy and do their best to turn around repairs in 24 hours. Follow up: When I picked up my bike from the repair, the service manager showed me photos of the compromised hydraulic fluid tube inside the fork stem. So glad to know the problem wasnt my doing and understood why the brake pads had to be replaced and that the rotor had been thoroughly cleaned. Thanks to Tim and Colin!

I really want to thank the knowledgeable staff at Trek Bicycle Berkeley Downtown for quickly effecting repairs on my new Urtopia eBike! I still ride two Trek road bikes, and this is my first eBike, which their expert mechanic (Colin) was able to repair the brakes on while I sat and waited.The work went exceptionally well, and my eBike now runs smoother & quieter than ever! I will definitely be coming back to have them do maintenance on my Trek road bikes, and perhaps do an upgrade on the drivetrain on one of them that Ive been wanting to do, the details for which I discussed with the mechanic in some detail.Its so gratifying to know that I can rely on the technical skills and wide-ranging knowledge of their excellent staff. With so many local bike stores going out of business, its great to know that Trek Bicycle Berkeley Downtown is a reliable place to go, with a store fully equipped to serve the biking needs of the greater S.F. This Store is a Model Trek Store! Visited mid July, an older gentleman seemed to be the manager or owner was super helpful. I came back 2 weeks later. I was helped by ({Ella) She was very helpful. (I Thought customer service was Dead!) Not at Berkeley Trek! I ended up buying a Bontrager helmet, 4 inner tubes, tools etc. she was very patient, kind young lady. I live 4 cities away. I will always put forth effort to drive there just because of cleanliness, neatness and customer service. Always a good experience. Many rude shops out there.Thanks Berkeley Trek!

Super positive experience on the phone and then with both the service and sales staff working the Wednesday before Xmas. I needed 700x28 tubeless road tires, which are hard to find right now and was kindly educated about each tire by Neil, the manager. I looked over the various options and was then helped by a gentleman in the service dept who tagged in to grab my desired tires from the back and rang them up too. Awesome teamwork. Hopefully these Pzero tires work as well as the stores staff.

They are awesome. I needed to disassemble and box my bike in order to ship on the same day. It was urgent and they were willing to help and finished my service just in 2 hours. Every agents were very kind and even they helped me on taking my packed bike out of the store and putting in my car. Needed to fix the rear derailleur on my bike because of shifting problems. Took my bike to this shop and the employees were super nice and offered to take a look at my bike. Showed me exactly what was wrong with my derailleur and fixed it within a couple hours (at a reasonable price too). 10/10 would come again!

I had a great experience with all the staff. For instance, when I interrupted Karl, the mechanic, while he was working on anothers bike, he immediately disengaged with the work at hand, and answered my questions politely and thoughtfully, despite my know-it-all attitude (good advice too). Its often difficult to cross-train bike mechanics or non-sales staff to handle customer service issues, and I was particularly impressed with this interaction. I was greeted promptly upon walking into the shop both times I visited, and the sales staff were all polite and helpful. Daniel also helped me pick out some parts for my Roscoe, and I found him knowledgeable and sensitive to my budget needs. When I begged for a cheaper part, he was quick to look further without a hint of snobbery.I was a hospitality professional for a couple decades, and I was impressed with the total purchase experience and want to leave a kind word for the staff.Incidentally, the bike is a great deal and Ive enjoyed riding it so far.

I am a frequent cyclist (road bike) and occasional MTB rider and have been spending a fair amount of time in various bike shops around the Bay area in the recent years. Trek Berkeley is by far the best of them. Past the awesome Trek bikes (I love my Domane SLR 6 -- see photo), they provide a highly personalized service with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The store is also quite nice with cool bikes and gear that is always fun to browse. Needless to say theyre expensive but I believe quality can hardly be cheap. Recently, my bike had a break issue and had to stay there for a couple of weeks awaiting 3rd party parts. They gave me a Checkpoint (Treks gravel bike) as a loaner which I had fun riding -- another great bike.

I dropped off my bike because of a recall notice on the crankset and left it at the shop overnight for a check-up.When I went to pick it up the next day, the mechanic told me the front brake was low on fluid. They also said they couldnt remove the crankset because they didnt have the tools, and the manager was on vacation for the next three weeks. It seemed a bit suspicious, but I went along with it.They referred me to Trek Oakland on Grand Ave. I left my bike there for a week, and when I picked it up, they told me the crankset was fine but charged me $50 for fixing the front brake.

All of the features of my new bike were explained to me, including how and why they worked, the differences between this bikes features compared to my old bikes and what differences I should expect in operation, care and future maintenance. They got me set up to ride with a basic, yet attentive and careful fit, and were very patient and responsive to all my questions, concerns and observations. Steven and the rest of the team are awesome guys that only want to make sure you get what you need. They dont try to push you to buy unnecessary items and sometimes may even suggest you go a different route that you didnt think of that gets the job done better. If youre looking for top-end bikes, they are a great place to go with good inventory of the most desirable Trek models. They also ride the bikes they sell, so are very knowledgeable. If they do make a mistake, they are quick to rectify it and make things right. I do think my favorite part of Trek Berkeley is that Bogdan always offers you gummy bears on your way out :D. Cheers!

To Who It May Concern, I go to your store for up-keep/ repairs about 1-2 a month and very familiar with this store and the ppl who work there. All the guys there are so friendly- it feels like when I walk in, it feels like I’m walking into a place where everyone is my friend. Dan is especially awesome! He is very knowledgeable and if he has time, he will try to take care of your prob right away. He creatively solved a problem I had with one of my gear shifters that had stopped being produced by ordering an updated/different shifter. It worked out perfectly.One in a while they have dropped the maintenance fee which I am extremely grateful for. The little things you guys do like giving out left over “pride Trek”shirts/stickers and other perks like communicating well via email and quickly returning calls shows that you actually care about your clients.Re: the mechanics in the back, their operational knowledge of bikes in incredible. They diagnose problems quickly and efficiently. It’s clear that they are extremely knowledgeable about all bikes not just Treks - I find that to be very impressive. This makes your prices worth it.Coincidentally, my bike is being repaired at Trek, Berkeley. They know me so well and know that my bike is my car so Dan have me a BEAUTIFUL loaner. I wasn’t expecting this- I was actually shocked and just so grateful. Thanks guys!My one complaint is that your work force is not diverse. I been in there about 6-7 times since I just moved here from LA in February. I read that there had been issues with the phones not being answered- this was NOT my experience. I needed to call three times over the course of 24 hours to complete my end of the transaction. Everyone was so helpful when I came into the store, it truly feels like the employees care. I asked a lot of questions and the gentleman who helped me was patient and answered them all. He had a lot of knowledge about the items that the store didnt carry and let me know that the item I was asking about could be ordered (a dog basket to carry my pup on my bike). He helped me pick out the accessories that I needed and then checked my bike into the shop to get everything mounted. My bike was done the next day and I met the store manager when I came by to pick up my bike. What a lovely human! I highly recommend this shop for ALL of your bike needs.

This store is the best! Neil from service department and Dan have been very helpful in diagnosing the problem with my fork and getting Fox to perform warranty . It was probably a freak defect since the bike had less than 10 rides. I also didnt know that the store would not be compensated by Fox or Trek for non-Trek defect & warranty work, so a labor charge would normally apply for such work. Neil explained it all to us and waived the charge. Awesome!Trek Berkeley is also a big supporter of NICA, youth biking, and local middle and HS teams. Way to go! Please support this store if youre in the market for a new bike.TungUpdate - 3/12/23 - another great experience at the store with our family getting new shoes, pedals, and gear for the cool Trek Fuel EXs we purchased. I had an amazing experience here today! I didnt buy a bike but I took in my cheap bike for broken brakes. For 20$ I came out with a greased seat component, an added bike lock holder (I didnt have the tools to do it myself), fixed breaks, and adjusted handlebars. It was pretty dang remarkable. They worked for a good hour and a half and bam! I have a functional bike again. Thank you!!!

I love Trek and have had great experiences with the San Ramon shop. Only reason for this review is because, more often than not, this shop doesn’t answer their phone and after a minute it goes to voicemail. I live in Oakland and I chose to purchase my bike from the San Ramon store because I could never figure out if the Berkeley store had the bike I wanted. I didn’t want to go to the store if I wasn’t sure if the bike I wanted was in stock. You guys are losing sales because you don’t pick up the phone!

I just purchased a new bike from the Trek shop and it was a top notch experience from start to finish. My bike was stolen and while I was still reeling from the lost I visited the Trek store in Berkeley. To start the store is beautiful, clean, spacious and the mechanic area is open with a bar type seating to watch your bike get worked on. I was originally helped by Ned, who was awesome. Friendly helpfully but in no way pushy. I visited the shop multiple times and had the same positive experience with the shop Manager Carl and Aaron. These guys even felt bad about my bike being stolen and let me borrow a really nice bike for the weekend. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone in the market for a new bike or bike accessories.

Im a relative newbie to the biking world, starting in 2018 and going car-less since February 3rd this year. On Wednesday, I got a flat on the way back to my North Berkeley home from an appointment in Berkeleys Tunnel Road area. Its a long walk. Your Downtown Berkeley store was the nearest place on my way home to get it fixed. Neal was at the front desk when I walked in, and was gracious in offering to fix the tire on-the-spot, oiling my chain, and candidly answering my questions. Have been riding Trek mountain bikes for the last 8 years. My mountain biking started in the early 90s and of all the bikes owned Trek is number one for me. My newest ride, the Slash, is amazing. It destroys whatever is thrown at it as if it were nothing. Responsive, stable, light and nimble. I’m amazed at how much the technology has improved since my last purchase and that just shows me that Trek is top and staying up top. Can’t think of any other brand I’d ride. I had my high-end road bike serviced here and can not recommend this place enough.I was having an issue with the drivetrain on my Canyon. While most other shops I called couldn’t even take a look at my bike for another week, Trek was able to make time for me the same day. Boy am I glad I came here. The issue turned out to be more serious than I thought, and David, the tech who helped me, was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. He explained exactly what was going on, and what I should do to prevent the issue in the future. I needed a new SRAM Red cassette, chain, brake pads and rotors, all of which they had in stock. I also needed a new freehub, which they had to order but was delivered the next day. Turnaround time was super fast. They had my bike ready the same day the part came.

I purchased an Emonda from Carl. I felt like I was between sizes. Carl spent time discussing why he felt the larger size was better and then set a demo with the stem he suggested. The combination made the decision easy. I purchased a frameset and built the bike myself with the exception of the hydraulic discs which I have never done before. David Wilcox did a great installation and then showed me how to bleed the brakes. Aaron and Ned who work up front are great as well. They always extend a friendly greeting when I walk in. They remembered my name after a few interactions. I worked in customer service for 30+ years and I can say with certainty that the staff at Trek Berkeley gets it.

They lean on his name a little and they should, but if you care about your bike like I do, I don’t understand why you’d let anyone else touch it. Oh my god what an experience going to trek in Berkeley. The staff Aaron, Samy, and Carl were so knowledgeable and helpful. I never tried an electric assist bike I’ve been biking my whole life and after trying one of their trek bikes with full suspension mountain bike it’s was amazingly fun and worth it!If getting up those hills are any problem, knee problems, or ever winded just use the turbo.It’s the angel taking up there.Put this on your list of things to buy this year and start feeling the rush on mountain trails or just around town it’s a game changer.
