I was super sick, so called in at the beginning of the week to reschedule my appointment (that was later that week). Without telling me, they charged $50 for rescheduling — I guess they wouldve preferred me go into the office and get everyone sick?! I called and they wouldnt reverse the charge, saying that it is policy. They also constantly try to upsell during an appointments. Overall, they do not treat patients respectfully. Ill be finding another dental practice to go to.UPDATE: After enough escalation, I was able to get the reschedule charge reversed. Ive bumped my rating up. Unfortunate it took so much effort, but glad they eventually came through.

I was scheduled at 2:50 pm today as a new patient at Emeryville location. I took an x-ray with other dentist on 12/21/23 and unable to get it to send it over to them bc the office was closed. I talked to them twice on the phone regarding the situation, they said no problem at all because it is free x-ray and free for the 1st visit. I dont have to pay anything nor my insurance. When I arrived to the office, the front desk told me that they need to bill my insurance for this visit because I have an insurance. The x-ray and the 1st visit is free only for people who doesnt have an insurance. It is raining outside, I am disable and on 3 wheels scooter and went out in the rain to keep my appointment. It ended up that I need to reschedule for other appointment if I dont want them to charge it on my credit card. Do you think I should come back?Update - today 12/28/23, I got an voicemail from them this afternoon and they informed me that I missed a yesterday appointment and wanted to follow up with me if I want to make another appointment with them. Unfortunately, there is no negative star on the comment that I can rate.

Terrible experience here from the staff. They charged me $50 for a no show appointment when I actually showed up. The receptionist was so rude. Belittled me in front of other patients. Never going here ever again. Respect your patients.

I haven’t been to the dentist in so long- pre pandemic forsure.I had a filling come out, and turns out it was half my tooth so I needed a root canal done/a deep cleaning.Found them online and it was actually easy to book! They do work with insurance as well, and do payment plans also!The tooth cleaning was sooo flawless. Iris the best! Environment was so friendly, from the reception to the music. I will definitely be coming back!

I absolutely love the staff here! Iris is by far the best hygienist Ive ever seen! She is so friendly and knowledgeable. I wont go anywhere else! The Dentist is so kind and helped me understand my situation and their resolution to my problem. Very easy to make appointments. Highly recommend!!

Iris at the Emeryville office is an excellent hygienist and makes my trips to the dentist much less stressful, I actually look forward to seeing her! She’s incredibly sweet and walks me through everything that’s going on with my teeth and the procedure. The rest of the staff is great as well, been going there for a couple years now.

The team is very friendly and knowledgeable. The dental hygienist Iris is extremely thorough and considerate, both my daughter and I have received her wonderful cleanings. I appreciate the education provided along the way to empower good dental hygiene in between visits. The dental exam was also informative, with plenty of space to ask questions and express any concerns. Would highly recommend the Emeryville office!

Giving this place two stars because I feel like the staff has been very nice but every experience Ive had here has been bad. The first time I came in for a crown and the crown did not even fit so the dentist had to put back my temporary crown until the next appointment. I was already numb and had the temporary crown taken off when the new permanent crown didnt even fit. This experience was more like a 3/5 since my dentist was really nice and apologetic but what really put me off was the second cleaning visit that I had. I was told during this cleaning that I had 3 cavities, was quoted 1K for it even after my insurance, and it was the most painful cleaning I have ever had. I went to get a second opinion from another dentist and they checked the same tooth numbers that I was quoted for having cavities and I had NONE. Would give this place a one but to be honest the staff was nice... just suspicious.

Went in today for my second half of my deep cleaning (not cheap). Was very pleased with the work and overall no discomfort after the numbing went away in comparison to the first time. I’ve been here a few times since last year to get fillings, cleanings and exams done. Overall great atmosphere and the staff is very professional and welcoming. Only con would be at times it may be difficult to reach someone over the phone if navigating the app for appointments ect. Isn’t your thing.

Got in for a cleaning today with Iris and it was excellent. Very detail oriented and made the cleaning feel a breeze. Their app makes it so easy to book and reschedule appointments and even gave me the option to meet with a dentist virtually so I can make sure I don’t have anything going on. Cant wait to come back!

I dont usually write reviews but my experience here was so amazing that I just had to. I went for the very first time today and I was so nervous as I hadnt been to a dentist to a while, but the entire staff was so friendly, kind, and so extremely knowledgeable. I was also extremely nervous because of Covid-19, but their office and staff took so many precautions and were extremely cautious with the patients. Not to mention, their office is super clean. I felt completely safe during the entire appointment. The office manager, Dior, greeted me as I walked in with the brightest smile. Lona, the dental assistant, was extremely kind and made me feel super comfortable during the x-ray of my teeth. The Dentist, Dr. Yang, was very friendly and super knowledgeable. The Dental Hygienist, Jean-Claude had the brightest personality. It is no wonder why I felt so comfortable and happy during my entire appointment with this amazing staff. The level of professionalism, knowledge, kindness, and friendliness in this office is beyond amazing. Thank you to all the staff for actually making it a fun experience to go to the dentist! :)

The best dentist experience I’ve ever had. We went to the Emeryville location. I was able to schedule me & my son’s visit on the same day. My 3 year old son had his first dentist experience & he said he LOVES the dentist! It was the perfect experience.I cannot rave enough about the amount of care and information we got from our visit. I look forward to my 6 month check up. I was so comfortable getting my teeth checked and cleaned today. I really loved how they took the time to explain the tools being used and why; even ensuring I understood what they’re checking for.I really enjoyed our visit and I’m loving the mouthwash.Fun fact: I was today years old when I learned how to properly floss!

Today I went to take my mother in law to a dentist appointment. Her teeth have been troublesome and we didnt know what was wrong. As we walked in I could tell she was nervous and hopefully it wasnt going to be a bad experience. As the dentist examined her mouth they noticed some interesting very unique things she had ( they all had a good laugh). Once everyone was comfortable it went by fast and it was great. The staff really cares on how the treat their customers and that was great. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a great job done and I will definitely be back for more work.

I’ve had great care here when they were doing virtual exams and that great care continues now that they’ve returned to in person exams. My mouth feels great after my cleaning and Iris does a phenomenal job at both the cleaning itself and explaining what’s happening inside of my mouth.

This dental office gets five stars from me but I will absolutely never ever go back for further treatment or care. Let me explain. The care that I received was top-notch. The dentist was professional, kind, informative and skilled. As skilled and fantastic as their dentist and support staff are their billing department is not. To call them inept would be a kindness. They have at every turn kept me from being able to equitably solve the billing issues. I have insurance. The insurance paid for my procedures. And yet the billing department has sent me to collections.

I was looking for a new dentist to go to after moving out to the east Bay and I stumbled upon Total Health Dental and Im so glad I did! Theyve been absolutely amazing, quick and painless cavity filled, perfect cleaning from the hygenist, and fantastic front desk service. They also offer complimentary massage, acupuncture, and nutritionist appointments which I think is just amazing! I got a massage today before my appointment and what a great way to start off before getting my teeth worked on, nice and relaxed. I highly recommend coming here.

I havent been to the dentist in a while and i was nervous about my initial intake exam. It helped my anxiety ALOT finding out my first appointment was just X-rays and an exam with the dentist. We were able to figure out what treatments i needed and thank you to Karla in the front who helped me get scheduled for the treatments and a cleaning! She was lovely and so helpful. Ive been taking my mom to this office for a few months and last week she started experiencing pain. My mom is elderly so sometimes its hard to get her around but Karla was very great in helping us get to the problem, as well as Dr.Tran. Once we knew what was going on, we were able to get her scheduled to make sure she gets out of pain and take care of the problem. Grateful for this team and their efforts to get my mom taken care of.

Absolutely top notch dental care. The Emeryville location is especially convenient for me - its easy to get to, easy to find parking. The staff are all very friendly and very helpful. Dr. Yang was very attentive, made sure I was comfortable, and they all do great work. They also have their own app, which is pretty sweet. And they use Square! (I work for Square so I love to see that!)

Everyone at Total Health Dental in Emeryville is very friendly and knowledgeable. The work they do here is incredible. When I moved to SF I still kept going to THDC, the service was that good. I’ve had cleanings, one filling, and all my wisdom teeth pulled here. Scheduling online or over the phone is easy. I always felt that the staff was flexible, communicative and responsive. Sadly, I moved out of the bay but recently made a short trip back and THDC was able to schedule me in for a cleaning and filling within a week’s notice! I highly recommend coming here.

For me, it was a scammy feeling place. The hygienist spent more time convincing me I needed a ‘deep clean’ then actually cleaning my teeth. And the dentist only videos in, so he basically showed up on my phone to also convince me a deep clean ($1300+) was necessary. I recently got a new insurance and went back to my old dentist (Campus Dental on University Ave) that I trust completely and they told me in my case a deep clean would do more harm than good.

I recently decided that I wanted a new dentist because I wanted an office close to where I work, so I could make appointments during lunch. Got my teeth cleaned here for the very first time. Dr. Sara comes highly recommended.I went in to see Dr. Sara after not having gone to the dentist for a while. She is very welcoming and made me feel comfortable before starting the exam. Previous doctors Ive been to dont take the time and care to explain what they are doing. Great customer service is just as important in having returning patients, and Dr. Sara cares a lot about her patients wellbeing; along with being very knowledgeable, detailed oriented, and providing clear explanations as to why procedures being done. Dr. Sara helped me correct some fillings done by other doctors, process was quick and painless.I hear they offer free wellness appointments along with other perks! This was a great experience. I went to the location in Emeryville. Really liked their open layout and setup of the treatment area.The technician was very nice and welcoming and set me up with X-Rays and some high resolution fotos for the dentist to review before she came in.The dentist, Dr. Yang made me feel very comfortable. She took her time to explain me in no rush the benefits of certain dental healthcare techniques and why those were important in my particular case. The office uses high-tech and is equipped very well.After Dr. Yang finished her exam (earlier than we expected because I didn’t have any major issues) I waited for 25 minutes for my dental cleaning.My dental hygienist (I forgot his name, I think Jean?) was very effective, knowledgeable and fun to work with. He gave me great recommendations for taking care of my pearly whites... 🙂Thank you to the entire Emeryville Team of Total Heath Dental Care. Are you afraid of going to the dentist? Cant remember the last time you saw a dentist? i was that way and worse! i had to be medicated just to walk in the door. My fear ran deep but I had to do it, a deep cleaning and three fillings two days.Let me tell you, the team at Total Dental Health is the best around. From the moment you walk in the door, they treat their patients with care.The dental hygienist team is outstanding - each one so gentle and caring. They were Constantly checking On me, The patient, And my comfort.My dentist and her assistant completed three fillings in what seemed like minutes with no pain.I walked out of that office today skipping like a child, ok, more like a 57-year-old, but lets say I was very, very happy I selected Total Health Dental, and so will you.

This dental office was fine...until years later. Ive had to have 2 of the fillings they did replaced. One filling I got there the assistant ended up just about hollowing out my tooth trying to correct the bite before she realized she was working on the wrong tooth. I had to have the entire tooth capped/filled but it was such a big filling that things didnt settle correctly and now Im sitting here in pain waiting for my emergency dental appointment tomorrow in which Ill likely need a root canal for this thing. I think they just need more oversight for their assistants because this was not the dentist doing the bite correction but the assistant.

Edit: I changed from 2 stars to 1, after they scheduled me for another visit without my permission. They called to confirm an appointment I explicitly said I did not want to make and they scheduled it anyways.I moved and was looking for a new dentist. I really like you can schedule online and the office is very nice. When I booked online as a new patient they didnt also schedule a cleaning, and there was no option to add a cleaning so I assumed it would happen at the same appointment, I did not. I see the dentist every 6 months, but they tried to tell me they needed to fix 4 fillings that werent good enough and I had one cavity. How can I go from my last appointment 6 months ago with everything is fine to needing 1500+ in dental work? If they struggled to fix the filling they would either leave it or give me a crown, if you can leave it, then why do you need to fix it? Why risk messing it up and then needing a crown? I was there for an hour and a half and I didnt even get a cleaning.I felt they were very pushy, trying to get me to get unnecessary services. When I said I would think about it, the dentist came back and was more pushy. I didnt want to schedule a cleaning and the receptionist tried to get me in as a place holder appointment and we could reschedule even though I said I didnt want to make one. I had to just walk away.The worst part for me was when the dentist wanted me to floss for her, since she didnt believe me I flossed. It was all very performative and felt very patronizing. I dont go to the dentist to get talked down to, if you think I need to floss better, say that, dont talk down to me.

Total Health Dental CareDr. Suzie Yang, the surgeon and Ms. Ilona Engel, the dental assistant made a great team. Theywere very professional, patient, answered all my questions and at the same time they express empathy.Dr. Yang put in a bridge. She did an excellent job of fitting and matching the bridge with my other teeth. It has been a month now and there have been no complications. The staff here are efficient, caring, and simply amazing. You can tell they take extra effort to make patients happy:1. Last time I was here, the dental hygienist put a dot of tea tree oil on the bib napkin. What a soothing experience during a teeth cleaning.2. Modern technology. They have updated patient management software, mouth cameras, low-dose digital xray imaging machines. Re-scheduling is easy and they have automated SMS reminders. Everything is very clean. They have extra air purifiers during Covid.3. They value my time. Appointments start exactly on time.Overall great experience here.

I’ve been going here for a year now and I absolutely love this place. I never went to the dentist growing up due to financial reasons and I know my teeth are pretty messed up. But no one has ever made me feel about my teeth here and they only talk about solutions to my problems. I truly do love this place. The staff is amazing and so kind! Buyer beware.If you were a part of Dr. William Allisons old practice prior to Total Health Dental Care buying his practice, then you were in-network for Delta Dental. But with Total Health Dental Care buying his practice, Total Health Dental Care is NOT in-network for Delta Dental.Youll get a whole spiel on how the price is the same, they just need you to sign this little form saying how they arent in-network for Delta Dental, and you will get a check from Delta Dental that you just need to then use to pay them and have a card on file on which they will charge you. And how a regular cleaning shouldnt cost you anything, its paid for by Delta Dental and your benefits are the same regardless of whether you are in-network or out of network. And how everything would still cost the same.Surprise.After feeling uneasy about signing the form and then getting stick price shocks for quotes on deep cleaning ($1800 total, $600 out of pocket) and 2 fillings ($270 out of pocket), I decided to take a look at my Delta Dental insurance and get another pricing from an in-network dentist. The in-network dentist for Delta Dental said I had excellent coverage and everything would be covered 100%, no out of pocket cost for me. So now my family and I are going to a new dentist.The service has been okay at Total Health Dental Care. Dr. William Allison retired and now it just seems like its a rotating door of dentists and dental hygienists. Their prices seem to be a lot higher than the market rate in the Bay area, even if you have insurance. I dont recall them ever saying that they were out of network now for Delta Dental after they bought Dr. Allisons practice or receiving notification in my email or mail. Seems like a bait and switch. You are paying for the fancy new offices and equipment, customer service, and SMS appointment reminders. It would have been nice if they had been upfront about the change in status from an in-network provider to out of network provider. I had been seeing Dr. Allison for almost 15 years.

Got a 2nd root canal unfortunately but with total dental health it came out not to bad. Didn’t feel the procedure at all, she was gentle I felt no pain and 5 hours past and I still don’t feel any pain. Definitely giving them 5 stars, thank you!
