I called in and asked how much it was for a smog. The guy took my vehicle info, told me the price, and even said itd take 5 min. I didnt believe him of course, but I went anyway. Boy was he not joking. It probably took longer to park the car and give him info for paperwork than the actual smog. Very professional and quick turnaround. 10min in and out no problem.

With the first chance I got to get a smog check, checked out four different locations in a raining Sunday afternoon and only one local place was open... Toshi Auto Smog. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We struck up a conversation about hybrid and electric vehicles while getting my new car a smog check. Great prices and have you in and out in no time at all.

2012 Post:No BS, just good honest & fast work at a fair price. I cant ask for more than that. Ill be a repeat customer!2013 Update: Since my first posting last year, I have gone back to Jimmys smog center. Once again, he got the job done and got me out really quick. I must admit though, I take good care of my Toyota truck and I never put any non-original equipment stuff or aftermarket mods on the engine. I keep it all showroom stock. Some people may have issues with this, but the fact is than you just cant do that in California any more. So my overall experience with the service and time is excellent and the price is totally reasonable.Ive recommended Jimmys shop to all my friends & co-workers. Everyone that I know who has gone there says they will go back. Thats got to tell you something!

Very friendly & honest shop. Took my vehicle to 3 different shops (that over price me)& Toshis was the fairest & lowest.I had so many troubles with my vehicle that I was afraid to drive it but after leaving there I was able to drive on the freeway with no problem. I highly recommend this business for their honesty & loyalty.

Would not recommend going to this place to anyone. As I arrived, Toshi was very rude and unprofessional. He did not explain to me that I would need to be driving a long ways to get a clear result on my smog test nor did he ask if my car recently got reset because I told him I had just left the dealership so yes they reset the entire car rather than telling me he shouldn’t test it because it would not be ready, he goes ahead and “tests” it to have a result come out saying the car isn’t ready for a smog test as the computer has been reset. As I told him beforehand he should’ve never even touched the car knowing that it hasn’t been driven around but of course he charged me $40 for an “inspection” that got a “not ready” result so I had some questions as to why I would get charged if I did not receive any pass/fail as I am asking, he begins to slam my hood down and doors in and blows cigarette smoke in my face saying if I come back that I’d get charged 50 for a retest which at any other place would be free as the initial test did not “pass”. I will never come back here again.

Outstanding! After driving over 1000 miles, including numerous GM drive cycle excursions, with zero check engine codes, my OBII Smog monitors remained unready. Eleven trips to different mechanics yielded the same fruitless advice...Your computer reports no codes, so keep driving until the computer is ready! My next stop was Toshis Auto Smog, where Toshi listened to my story, took time to troubleshoot the problem, and determined the correct solution. Thanks to Toshi, my Smog monitors are working again!!

I went in because theyre on Groupon and had good reviews. I told them I was going to use the Groupon and he said no coupons. I said well its in Groupon and he said no coupons... so I dont know what that was about. Considering the area and his attitude I have a sneaking suspicion priced is based on ethnicity. Fortunately I hadnt bought the Groupon yet because I was going before work and wanted to make sure there would be enough time before I paid.

Quick and courteous service. The price was 50.00 which is pretty standard for other smog certification businesses in the area. I will return when it’s time to smog my other three cars.

Horrible !!I Will never come back here again due to This man trying to take me for extra money..He checks my car, charges me almost $50 and then says I didnt pass....Hmmm, I ask why and he says one of the parts(pcv hose) inside my car is the wrong part and I need to get it changed...So I go to my mechanic and they tell me the hose on it is just fine but if thats what I need theyll change it....They looked over my paperwork and said he couldve just passed me but most likely just wanted extra money for a re-test -_-Uggh so here Im taking time off work, Now spending extra money and wasting My time...So I change it anyway so he can pass me...Apparently once you go to one smog place some wont take you after that, so I have to go back to the same person =/Go back and he says its still wrong, wont pass me and this part HAS to be from the dealership...What, why?!Call my Mechanic and they say its the same piece of hose the only difference is it says honda on the bag....Then proceeds to hand me his buddys card(mechanic next door) and says go there hell fix it your mechanics are trying to rip you off and take your money...and says how horrible they are...Im sensing BULLSHIT!uuum NO, my mechanics wouldnt have made a DIME off me if it wasnt for this smog place making me change something to get a little extra money out of me...My mechanic said I didnt even need what hes making me change!!Now all of a sudden you want me to go to your buddy next door so I can be charged even more?! uuum NO THANKS!!He tells me I need this specific star test because hes a star only station but when I researched I didnt even need a star test and he has no signage saying his shop is star only, in fact is says TEST ONLY, which theres suppose to be visible signage at a shop if its star only....So I leave his shop not knowing what to do because he wont pass me, the 2nd time, AFTER I fixed and changed the part he told me to(ooh but I should go through his friends shop and pay to do it there, NO)...Consult with a friend who is a certified mechanic and has owned a shop for 30+ years and says the same thing my mechanic said, Hes screwing you to get extra money the part he wants you to replace is fine....We go to another smog place just to check everything and this smog shop says the Same thing, my Car is just FINE and I shouldve passed....One thing I cant stand is trying to screw someone over just to make a few extra bucks...And every question I asked he couldnt even give me straight answer....So I will NEVER go here again and would highly recommend nobody goes here either...I may not know much about Cars, But I could Definitely Smell the BULLSHIT!!!____________________________________Update:Had to go to a Third shop because the 2nd one wasnt star certified...The 3rd shop said it was BS too and I shouldve passed the 1st time...So talking to 5+ Different shops/Mechanics and Every one of them said the same thing, Nothing was wrong with my car or the part I had in it and The part I changed it to was perfectly ok!!Theres been complaints FILED against this shop. BEWARE!He shouldnt be pitching people to go get work done at the shop next door!!

I came here looking for a place where you can check smog in Japanese, and it was great for people who were worried about their English skills or for women going alone.When I changed the oil at another place where only English was spoken, I was told that there was something that needed to be repaired immediately and it would cost about $400, but this time I was told that there was nothing that needed to be fixed right away. I think there are many women who dont know much about cars, but there is no need to worry about them stealing money from you. A sense of security and trust. I highly recommend it. I think you can also change the oil here. I have decided to have my maintenance done here from now on!I went at 9:00 a.m. without a reservation and was seated right away with no wait.The total cost for the smog check is $50.When I went to other shops for oil changes I had to wait for 3 hours and they pressured me into fixing my car. Which costed $400.But he was different! He is very nice and trustworthy! He didnt pressure me into extra services. This was a big deal for me as a women and non-native speaker who doesnt know about cars!I am relieved and I definitely recommend this place!

We will kindly discuss costs with you.This is a shop where you can deeply feel the greatness and value of technology, honesty, trust, and the Japanese technical profession.I heard from an acquaintance that he fixed his car after a spoon was thrown at him at another store, and that he helped him when his car broke down and he was at a loss as to what to do.Thank you very much to Mr. Toshi who repaired it.When getting my car repaired in America, I often found myself unable to understand the language and being advised to repair expensive parts or parts I didnt understand.I wanted Japanese people to see it. This is a very good repair shop. Recommended 🙂🍀!

Toshi-san, seriously. Kind. If you are a Japanese person near Gardena, please come and check it out. I didnt know much about this area, so I looked around and went to see it. This is where Jimmy used to be. Two years ago, I went to Jimmys place for the first time after someone introduced me to him. The person who was there this time was Toshi. It was good. Its right next to Marukai!
