Their pizzas are absolutely fantastic. A great balance between crunchy and soft. Not a lot of seating inside, I assume that’s why they don’t have fountain drinks in order to have a faster customer turn around. They offer by the slice as well. Very small parking lot in the back and a couple small tables outside. Limited canned and bottled drinks available. Their bathrooms are clean.

Tomato Pie Pizza Joint is a pizza joint that makes the perfect NY-Style pizza in So.Pasadena.I arrived as a first time customer in this location. I was warmly greeted by a middle aged staff, at the counter. I perused their menu (pizza, pastas, subs, appetizers, salads) and decided to get a slice of Miss Green and Unsweetened Green Tea.Pizza was flavorful and its crust was great. It’s exactly the kind of NY style pizza taste that I’m accustomed growing up in NYC. Service was great. Staff were friendly. Atmosphere was relaxing. Their sleek interior 60’s design that stands out compared to other pizza joint. Prices seem fair. Plenty of street and rear parking lot. Overall, I loved every bite of Ms Green. I highly recommend this joint.

This is, in my opinion, perfect New York style pizza. When I was younger I worked as a pizza maker in an authentic, delicious New York style place, and continued to eat there until it was closed.I have been looking to find that same authentic taste for years, and honestly this place probably surpasses it. The dough, the sauce, the cheese / dough / sauce ratios, everything is perfect. The crisp bottom preventing the slices from being too floppy with enough to have a slight crunch on the bite but so thin it’s not a fight to eat it.While I am not an aficionado with Detroit style pizza, this is also the best version of it I have tried. Again, the bottom is crisp and gives a bit of a crunch, but the crispness is not very thick at all and the softness of the thicker pizza dough stands out.Service was also great, interior decor was nice. If I could suggest anything it would be to have fountain sodas.

Visiting family in South Pasadena from Canada, got here for a bite before a shopping trip .. Ordered a Caesar Salad, draft beer and a NY style Primo pizza which was cooked perfectly and had great flavour. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely coming back to try the other pizzas .

Gluten-free folks...go, run, get yourself an awesome pizza! My husband and I each got a pizza and we were both impressed with quality of crust and quantity of toppings. We will definitely order from them again while in L.A.!

Had a slice of Utica and Butcher. Both were exceptional. Service was prompt and friendly and price was very fair.

As a New Yorker living in LA, I’m always on the hunt for good NYC style Pizza. This place is it! Tomato Pie Pizza Joint in South Pasadena is amazing! We got a Pepperoni, Mac n Cheese, and Syracuse Hot Wing slice! All we’re delicious and I can confirm that are definitely NYC status for pizza! The people that work there are very nice and I’ll definitely keep coming back! This place has me locked in!

Made me wait over 50 minutes for a pizza with an ingredient I didnt ask for. A family member is allergic to those olives.

Great pizza. Got the Butcher pizza. Really good. But pricier than your average pizza place but I think its worth it. Got the hot wings but those were whatevs. Overall great pizza pies but you can skip the sides. Street parking and a small lot on the side.

I would say this place is more like a 4.3 maybe a 4.4. I come here every so often for pizza and the pizzas mostly decently good, you know? I mean its not the thin crusted thin style that I sometimes like to eat but its more like the style I had when I was a kid. They have a couple tables in the back where you can eat if you feel so inclined; I like to go there towards dusk when the heat is down and or the sun is not shining so brightly. The only real issue I have with this place are the wings. I dont know what they do to them, but Im just going to say it and this is the way I see it; namely, that they are fatty and there is little to no crust on the chicken itself. Let me explain, its as if theyre microwaving the wings. Maybe theyre not, but Ive eaten their wings multiple times, and theyre always...well, theres a deep fry coat on it but its soggy not crisp in any way at all. I dont understand if theyre actually making them fresh or theyre actually cooking them, how they get like that, so that leaves microwaving. Like I said, I dont know that they do microwave them, but lets just say I dont recommend the wings. The staff are what youd expect in a place like this, you know; not rude, they just want to get your order out to you. Eat there, the pizza is good, thick crusted, salty meat and the tables have choke napkins on the tables to use. Try the wings even, if just to make your own conclusions.
