My review is only based on their anime and cartoon accessories, figures, food, etc. great store with lots of fun anime/cartoon themed food, Sanrio products, and figures, although the figures are pretty high priced. Cool spot, they’ve also got a hot food section of the store, bathrooms available and seating for the eating.

The prices and items here are almost impossible to beat! We splurged a little to get some great food/items from this place!Came here a few times and almost everyone was so kind and so respectful..Though this last time the cashier Jessica had the worst customer service I have ever received at a grocery store. First I asked for the bathroom code and she looked more than annoyed at my question, when i had to ask for a second time (i couldn’t figure out the code lol) she got visibly frustrated and rolled her eyes at me. Lastly when we went to check out and she looked at our items on the belt with pure disgust. Truthfully, this place is fantastic! But she could definitely benefit from a conversation with management.

This place looks much better than it did in the past when it was a different Japanese supermarket. It has so many great goods from Japan. And so many nice places to eat at inside. I felt like I was back in Japan when I was looking at the stuff in this store. Good prices too. Lots of parking available with other restaurants beside it.

I spent a lot of time in Japan for business in the eighties and nineties. My oldest son lived there teaching English for years and married a young Japanese woman. We all visited this shopping center and had a blast.The candy, liquor and cooking departments were my favorites where my daughter-in-law loved the fresh foods. Everything there reminded me of Japan except the service. It was very American and very poor. Why spend so much time and money to create a great shopping experience only to have it end with a Wal-Mart-like check-out?

The selection of Japanese and Asian items is sizeable. The market foods are fair in price and taste great. Fresh produce, condiments, and even general goods are all available here. The only downside I see is the price of food in the food court. I know it costs money to rent the place out, but the prices might not seem fair to everyone.

I didnt know all of these stores were squeezed into the mall which looks tiny from the street. 🏘This place is huge it had a lot packed into the mall, Tokyo Central, and a hotel. 🏨🏛Tokyo Central is amazing. 🗃 It has restaurant/cafes, offers household items, imported products, groceries, grooming products, toys, liquor, apparel and so much more. 😮The parking is mega 🚚🚲Staff is awesome helpful 👨🏻‍🌾🤹🏼‍♀️The condition is not bad for the area. 🏙Meat fish and produce steam fresh. 🐖🐤🐟Some of the cafes and restaurants look like theyve been here forever. 🎐cafes and restaurants in Tokyo Central seem very standard issue nothing too impressive but quick, easy, comfortable, and convenient. 🎋🎍

Good store if youre into Japanese pop culture, specifically games and anime. The grocery section is not as big as the other Tokyo Central locations. This one caters more to anime fans and gaming fans who may want to pick up some Japanese snacks or drinks along with their toys.

It has been 3 years since my original review, it is now . Recently purchased salmon, brought it home and it smelled VERY bad. A month later, bought another piece and my spouse and I got food poisoning. Purchased an egg salad sandwich at 2pm, tasted off, looked at the label and it expired at 12pm the same day. The prices continue to rise and they have replaced most products produced under their own brand, DO or discontinued them. Purchasing non perishable items seems to be ok if they still stock the brands you enjoy.ORIGINAL REVIEW:The prices have and continue to increase considerably with no improvement in quality. For some basic food items, prices have increased twice in one month, continuing to increase each month. It would be safe to say that everything across the board has increased. As for the bento sushi items, prices increase monthly with no improvement in quality. They have a discount section of fruits and vegetables, way past being ripe, some rotten, for 20% off. They should give it away to farmers so they can feed it to their livestock. As for the green onions, they cut off the rotten parts and continue to sell it for full price. This practice is obvious when you see the green onion stalk lengths lessening. Also, the supply of beef, pork, and chicken are unpredictable. On Mondays, they dont stock the meats until after 10am. As for the fish, there are often pieces that are past their prime and shouldnt be sold. If you plan to make a certain dish, it is more than likely you will be disappointed as you cannot count on the stock. I would recommend shopping elsewhere.

I call this place The Tokyo Dome. Its a really neat market that has all the Japanese wares you could dream of (well maybe not ALL of them).Huge selection of snacks and food you got everything from sweets and treats to full blown ingredients for a succulent Japanese meal. All the items are labeled in English so if you cant read the labels youre covered.They have figures, puzzles, pens, tea, air Spencers, pocky, lemon tea, I could go on forever! Love Japan? Youre a huge weeb? This is the spot.

The store needs to update on their payment options for Snap/EBT. They do not accept it here and was a waste of time driving over because of this. They dont answer their calls either to verify information so its just an inconvenience.

Great Japanese market for fresh and frozen food, raw seafood, home goods and groceries. Has large cooked lunch (bento) section as well as various other businesses inside that sell ready to eat hot food and sweets like beard papa cream puffs.Ive never managed to get there early enough to buy a fresh hot sweet potato but they do those too and the smell is wonderful.In this house we love donpen 🐧

This Japanese grocery superstore is awesome. The produce section isnt that large, and the things youll find here are similar to the other Japanese grocers, but the thing that sets Tokyo Central and Main apart from the others is the unique food offerings. Youll find shinsen gumi ramen, shinjuku crepe, mammoth bakery, and nikuman steam buns.Shinjuku Crepe - really good Japanese style crepes. The crepe batter isnt eggy like some can be. I had original batter, strawberry, mochi, marshmallow, whip cream, green tea ice cream, and chocolate syrup. This combo was really good, I highly recommend it. ($7)

I often come here after visiting Sweet Rice for khao soi, and Sakae Sushi for nori maki. I pass the tempting cream puffs at Papa Beards, and the handmade Japanese buns. On to the fish department to get some salmon for sashimi. Sometimes I get tobiko, or masago, sweet scallops, or hamachi. The bentos are also interesting and good. There are all kinds of prepared sushi, sashimi, takoyaki, and other good stuff. The fish quality is consistently good.

I will never return to this store after me and my children were followed and racially profiled while shopping by Security. I asked to speak with the Manager while I paid for my merchandise and was told the Manager had already gone home for the day; I left a message with the Cashier to give to the Manager and never received a follow up call regarding my shopping experience. This shows that customers of my skin color are probably just not welcomed at their store, so respectfully I have taken my business and money to support other local Asian markets in Gardena. I would never refer anyone I know to shop at this Market.

This place is amazing (I actually love going to Japanese stores and shopping there) and I was able to get some amazing Katsu Don from one of the restaurants inside the place. The atmosphere is great and the people are friendly and peaceful 😊. If youre looking for great quality food (some stuff can be a bit pricey but its because its imported from Japan and it is of high quality and totally worth it) this is the place to go (there are other great Japanese grocery stores to go to as well that have the same high quality foods to purchase) and I love shopping here!!! If you enjoy being watched and followed around the store while shopping then you will love this store!The guy upstairs would literally be in eye sight while I was looking around and it made my friends and I super uncomfortable. Why not watch the cameras like a normal person? Why follow us specifically when there were so many other people around? Mmm wonder why..I used to love this store because they have good prices and awesome items but after that experience. I will never step into the store again.

This is a great little Japanese grocery and goods store. Awesome selection of items, from top notch produce, to ready-made bento boxes and udon, aisles and aisles of Japanese food items, and even small kitchenware/homegoods and toys/stationery deparments. Even pre-COVID, this store was never crowded, and it is consistently clean and well-stocked. Definitely check out their huge refrigerated drink wall (alcoholic and otherwise!) and their pre-packed sushi, and be sure to grab some goodies from Beard Papas and Mammoth Bakery before you leave! 😁

Very clean and organized store. Big variety on groceries and general merchandise. Carry most of your Japanese foods and necessities.We came to get kamaboko (Japanese style fish cake) we picked up Tempura style and Naruto. We ended up getting a few other items as well.Smaller in size compared to the one in South Gardena off of Artesia Blvd.However they still have quite a selection and less busy.Staff is very friendly and helpful, plenty of parking.Will look forward to shopping here again.

This is the other Marukai market in the South Bay. Unlike the one on Artesia Blvd, this one doesnt require a membership to shop. This store isnt as big compared to the other one but has all the stuff you and they also have a good court inside.They have fresh produce and love the meat section. Everything is super fresh!Never busy which I love.

Such a great Japanese store with everything you can think of! After going shopping for some dumplings and sushi, we ended up stopping at one of their food stalls for some freshly made BAO buns! They have a bakery, a cream puff stall as well as a bao bun stall that also serves rice, noodles and a burger using a bao bun lol. Highly suggest you visit if you enjoy this kind of stuff and my favorite part of all is being able to walk in, grab a fresh bento box, then head back out 🤤

They offer free ice for things that need refrigerating like fish and other Seafood meat products Etc. This is a Japanese market that has the same products as other local Japanese markets but even better! The interior decoŕ is very friendly and welcoming and makes easy to find what you need in aisles, its also booming with a colorful atmosphere and very family friendly. Everything is cool and the culture is excellent. But the security guard was making me feel uncomfortable, aswell as following me the whole time I was there. I asked if he wanted to take my purse and he said “ no it’s fine!” then continued to yell and harass me and my friend verbally. When I was going to pay he stood there and got closer to see if I had money. Not sure if this is a racial profile case but it was uncomfortable.

Used to be the great place that we took our kid to shop there.This week the security guard made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome as he followed me every conner and even after we done the shopping and go to sit at the table out side for eating. My wife and I live in San Fernando Valley but we drive to Gardena and Torrance once or twice a month for Japanese food supplies. We always go to this TC&M, mainly because they have a Manmoth Bakery inside. We get our bread for toasting there, also masago pan and corn and tuna pan. The market itself has one of the best and cheapest senbei selections. Plus Crystal Geyser is only 78 cents a gallon.

This is a Japanese super market / souvenir store with everything from snacks, packaged desserts, spices and condiments, rice and noodle supplies, alcohol and drinks, Hawaii snacks, and Japanese bentos and musubis. There are a few to-go restaurants inside like Shin Sen Gumi, Beard Papas (cream puffs), Mammoth Bakery, and a crepe shop. There unfortunately is very little produce here and prices are a tad more expensive than Marukai down the street. I preferred the Marukai Japanese supermarket that was here before it got bought out, as Tokyo Central is around 30% more expensive on everything.Oh, forgot to mention, they have great toys! Everything from your favorite animes (Pokemon, Dragon Ball, Gundam), to plush dolls, to racing cars.
