Great place to see marine life. These are good tide pools. I see a bunch of reviews saying there arent any tide pools. I wonder if those people know you have to go at low tide. Google it to find the right time to go. We love to look for sea creatures in the tide pools. There was also a volunteer who had collected a bunch of cool things and could answer questions. Also there is a bathroom and showers to wash the sand off. Overall a fun location

Love visiting the tide pools! Although I do think this should be preserved a little, maybe having someone on watch. I saw adults and children walking all over where the love animals were and this is killing their environment. Definitely looking sad from 20 years ago.

This place is so beautiful. Its great for swimming, surfing, searching for little sea creatures or looking for pretty rocks and shells. Be prepared to walk down a decent sized hill to get to this spot, but I was able to do it on crutches, so as long as youre mobile, its not bad. This is a great spot to spend a few hours on a hot day. They even have a restroom and an outdoor shower so you can rinse the sand and salt water off.

Nice place for pictures! Parking was easy to find and the walk down was fun. The rocks were a bit rough to climb on, but I think I could be better prepared for a nicer, more active day when there are more fish and wildlife in the pools. Didnt see much more than mussels when I went.

Always have a great time here. Good parking, views, and fun for everyone, even the dog. Usually a ton of sea anemities and snails, saw an octopus once. I usually go around noon and am able to walk out fairly far from the shore. The hill getting there can be a little steep so be careful if you’re in a wheelchair or bike.

Great place to take young children. Nice beach. Be VERY WEARY of street parking. The police make one last patrol before the allowed time to park starts. We parked 5 min. Before the allowed time and we got a ticket. $68 Bucks! Do NOT park on the streets before the allowed time. Just Dont!

This is such a beautiful and magical place! I love coming here and its easy to keep 6 ft apart for covid-19 related reasons. There is a large area to explore and see the beautiful aquatic nature. You can really get in there and look up close and see many different life forms that we dont usually see. This is especially true at the lowest of low tide. Just be sure to keep an eye out so you dont step on anything, and there is no taking souvenirs from the beach :-)

The walk down to the beach is beautiful. Parking can be a little tough given that its a residential area, but its well worth finding ! Nice place to lay out on low tide, its not as busy as other beaches. Enjoy!

This is a beautiful beach in So Cal. We loved the day we got spend here. The tide pools are really neat and there are a lot of crabs and other sea animals to see. Make sure you go at low tide in order to see the most creatures. There is a pretty steep climb down to the beach but it’s paved so it’s not terrible. They have a bathroom with showers partially down the hill. If you want to explore the tide pools, bring water shoes, especially if you have little adventurers. My kids enjoyed playing in the storm drain water that’s going into the ocean (we didn’t see the small sign that said you could get sick if you play in the storm drain water so next time we will avoid that). The sign is a small white sign next to some trash cans, so I thought I would mention that in my review to avoid that part. Overall, it’s a beautiful beach with some great views from above.

Beautiful beach, small and not too crowded on the weekday. Tide pools are full of little crabs, anemones, snails and such. We were fortunate to find a giant sea hare! Its easy to spend hours there, scouring the tide pools for creatures! Great for the young and the young at heart!❤️

Always a beautiful place to explore as long as you can find parking. Best times to visit is basically anytime except summer. The walk down to the tide pools are steep but once you’re down there, a nice beach awaits and plenty of rocks and tide pools to explore. We always see urchins, hermit crabs, muscles, and have occasionally seen sea slugs, octopus, and large crab. We’ve also seen dolphin pods swimming while visiting. Such a great place for kids and adults!

This place is very beautiful! The sand is soft and theres so much to look at. Its located a few streets down from Del Mar, if youre familiar with that area. There is a down hill walk so prepare for that. The tide pool section looked great from afar, but by 10:45am it was too crowded for us to actually adventure that way. My favorite thing about this location is there is a spot to browse rocks softened by the waves/sand and find sea shells. All in all, its a must see location.

Really nice beach with a bunch of tide pools filled with a lot of sea animals. Only thing that stinks is that the area is a protected area so your not supposed to take or touch anything in the tidepools, not even 1 sea shell... but other than that its a cool place 2 go see at least once

Fun spot with lots of little pools to explore and a little beach to relax on. There’s a little stream that empties out in the ocean there too. Easy to find parking in the neighborhood near by it just requires a little hike down on a paved path.

Beautiful rocky beach.Nice location to spend some time at. Wasnt too busy in early morning. Restrooms were surprisingly clean for beach restroom. Street parking is limited so the earlier you arrive the better. Would be great area for tide pools if you go during low tide. Its a bit of a steep walk so would not suggest for people with waking difficulties.There is a parking lot further down road but unsure of distance

Always one of the best places in Newport. Got here about 30 minutes before low tide so the tide pools were full of life. Saw many hermit crabs, urchins, mussels, and anemones. My 4 year old son had a blast.

An amazing place to visit, especially for families. At low tide, children can see the wonderful little animals living in the tide pools. Swimming can be a little tricky because of the rocky bottom. So, it is probably best to keep water play to just wading. Otherwise, this makes for a wonderful experience for the young and old alike.

Great place to walk around the tide pools and explore for critters. Bring the kids they will have a blast.The beach is reachable by a steep path from the road above to the beach.There are bathrooms and outdoor showers to clean up the sand and salt. This is a big plus for the kids.The central beach itself it somewhat small and can become densely packed on the weekends. The tide pools can be found on either side of the sandy beach.

Great place, absolutely beautiful the air is so crisp and clean and moist you can actually taste the salt from the sea in the air. It’s a little bit hard to walk on the rocks but manageable and there’s so many beautiful shells and you can take so many beautiful pictures. This is our new “spot” when we come to visit. A charming volunteer had a table set up with all sorts of things the kids could touch, teaching about the environment and how to protect it. Amazing tide pools. You will have to find street parking in the area and walk down a pretty steep hill to get to them. Plan to arrive at least an hour before low tide to maximize your time. Lots of sea creatures from crab to sea slugs and even some octopus. Mind your steps and enjoy some nature.

Very cozy beach. Difficult to social distance. Do not camp under rock slide area. Sometimes conservancy group has a display table. Never see lifeguard tower occupied. Sand is fine but shallow; underneath 1ft of sand is rocks and pebbles. Residents near beach are generally nice people.

One of the last pristine places on the West coast where you can view sea creatures in their natural habitat! Lets keep it this way and preserve it for future generations to come!!! I proposed to my wife on the bench at the top of the hill overlooking the beach and tide pools. We met an awesome lady lawyer that just happened to pick up on what was happening and photographed the moment for us. Truly a memory to be treasured for our lifetime!!!!

Terrific place to bring your kids and explore. The path down the hill is pretty steep, so be prepared for that. However, once you arrive to the beach youll find the tide pools on the left.They are fun to explore. Bring some water shoes because the rocks can be sharp, especially for kids.

The day we went, there wasnt a great deal of variety to the marine life in the tide pools that we could see, but thats kind of the way these things go--you get what happened to be left in there when the tide changed that day. Dont pick up rocks and beware of your step but each pond has life in it and each rock has life on it and under it. Everything is coated in natural tar so beware not to get it on you but otherwise enjoy a place that will fill you with wonder if you know where to look. Walk slow and pay attention!

Going to the titles of something that our family loves to do try to go out there at least once a month to go look at the national wildlife in the tidepools its not uncommon to find little pools with fish octopus and other plant life. Parking may be hard to find so I recommend getting there early or parking further out and riding a skateboard or just walking down to the beach its not recommended to park in neighborhoods where there are lots of people due to the fact that if you want to get out early or leave fast you will not be able to do so due to the people coming in and out of their house

More secluded than the beach next to it with tide pools to look at if you dont want to get wet or play in the sand. Bathrooms are inconvenient to walk to though.

Easy to get to, free street parking, waves and tide pools to explore. Today they also had a booth with samples of things found in the tide pools, and a lady who answered my four-year-olds many questions

Its alright, but if youre still parked in street parking after dark on the street be prepared to be treated like riff raff, even though the beach is open to dogs after 4 pm. So where are the peasents supposed to park? The neighborhood is filled with snooty rich people so park elsewhere as the police are used as personal parking guards, pretty sad to see Newport Police department abusing their authority.

The tide pools here are gorgeous and are filled with a wide variety of marine creatures. Recommend getting climbing shoes because the metamorphic rocks are very easy to fall off from

Fascinating tidal pools to visit at low tide; research before you go; not every day of the month has an equal low tide; you want the lowest tidal day for that month/moon-cycle. Crabs, small lobsters and hundreds of other marine specimens to view and touch; removing specimens is prohibitied by law. Great wading and exploring during high tides too; everybody should wear shoes in the water here because of the rocky uneven terrain.
