My son has been attending coding classes at the Walnut Creek location and he absolutely loves it. The folks there are very nice, knowledgeable and professional. Warm greetings and receptive attitude. The coaches have the required experience and expertise with the kids. The kids are even compensated with coins that earn them points as a way to compensate them with an achievement. I would definitely recommend this location for anyone who wants to have their children to attend coding class

My 7yo son has been going to Coder School for about 3mo. So far he loves being able to build Minecraft & Pokemon games. The information is over my head so cannot comment on the quality. The instructors are nice and very helpful. Most importantly my son enjoys the class and we don’t have to fight about attendance.

My son really enjoys his weekly coding lessons. He usually gets his “regular “ instructor which is great for consistency. Sometimes I ask him what he did in class and he says “not much, waited for program to load”. But then I get report from teacher and they covered a lot! Just goes to show what a 10 year old remembers.

Our boy/girl twins started Coder School at the age of 11. They attend the Walnut Creek location for about a year now and absolutely love it! They told me they wished we had put them in at an earlier age. The staff and instructors are friendly, fun and accommodating. This is one class I don’t have to drag my kids to. They look forward to it every week.

Update: we haven’t had any issues with billing for 6 months now. Kids still enjoy attending the class.Great experience for the kids. McGrail and Brynne are also very helpful being flexible with our schedule. Initially, we had some issues with the billing that took longer than expected to resolve but it was taken care of by the staff.

We love theCoderSchool!My 9 year old son started 1:1 lessons there 6 months ago (he is shy, so I thought 1:1 would be good for him to start with that). He LOVES it! I hear him bragging to his friends about what he is learning there. He comes home so excited to show the family what he can do. He has made a bond with his coach (coach Ethan) It has made a big impression on my son. Thank you! We love the positive energy when we walk in the door there. My younger daughter is already asking when she can start coding lessons there so soon we will have 2 students there!

I can’t say enough good things about the CoderSchool! Our 12 year old son signed up for Python coding camp this summer and enjoyed it so much he did a 2nd week of camp, and now goes after school once a week. The coaches are as kind as they are skilled - he always has fun and is excited to explain what he learned in each session. The manager Magrail is especially amazing — he has helped Tyler trouble shoot his 3D printer — even keeping it over night to give it a tune up. Thank you CoderSchool!

My 8 year old son loves going to coder school. They accommodate his changing interests and learning style. The school is also very accommodating in offering both in person learning and online classes. The classroom is always a fun place to be and they are supportive of kids different abilities. All the kids there seem to have a good time.

Both my daughters (10 and 7 years old) are enrolled and love going there. The coaches have all been great. The girls are always excited about and look forward to going to their class every week. Love the flexibility as demonstrated when my kids were ill and could not attend in person, they were offered the opportunity to do their session remotely. They quickly jumped at the opportunity. It said a lot to me to see my girls want to still do their class remotely even though they were not feeling well. I highly recommend this school if you are considering coding classes for your kids.

Our experience with theCoderSchool has been exceptional. My child attends a weekly session and has enjoyed coding games. When her session is over she is so excited to share what she has accomplished! She is building skills and confidence. Our instructor is encouraging and thorough! I get a detailed summary after every session so I can be informed of her progress. Highly recommend, so glad we found theCoderSchool!

My 2 children enrolled with the Coder School at the end of Sept 2022 after spending 3 years at another coding school. No longer beginner coders, they had outgrown what their previous school had to offer and were not being challenged or learning the skills they will need to work in the field in the future. Enter the Coder School. I checked out their pathways tree and was very impressed with the languages, and more importantly, the environments that they offered to teach. Coding is about more than just a language. So we reached out and had our trial class. Things went well and the boys liked their instructor, so even though they were nervous, we made the switch. Just this week my youngest told me how much more he enjoys his new coding class. He says no only is he learning a lot, but also he has the opportunity to drive WHAT he learns and what he wants to code. The personalization is perfect. We also really appreciate that there is a virtual option in addition to in person options. Overall, I would highly recommend the Coder School for higher level coding students as well as those just starting out.

My kids took classes here for several years and had great experiences. I like the summaries you get after each session. One of the nice things about The Coder School is that when they didn’t have the right coach at this location for the language my kid was interested in they set him up with a different coach at a different location to do virtual classes. All around highly recommended.

My 6 and 8 year old have been taking weekly lessons for several months. Both of them are making great progress and really enjoying the sessions. I think the instructors are doing a great job of making the lessons exciting and fun while at the same time keeping lessons challenging while at their skill level.

My son has been taking coding virtually with a Coder School Coach once a week approximately two months. He seems to really enjoy his hour with the instructor each week and looks forward to the class. Following each weeks lesson, the instructor provides a summary of all that was accomplished during that weeks lesson which my son uses to guide his independent work before the following weeks class. I have also spoken with the executive manager and found him to be very helpful and flexible in scheduling my son. Pleased that my son is now productive during some of his hours on the computer!

Our kid discovered in 7th grade that he loves coding but quickly outgrew the offerings of his school. Luckily we discovered the coder school. We worked with the General Manager (McGrail) to schedule private lessons on Python, 3D printing and Unity engine and our kid has taken off.

The Coder School is amazing. My kids have been going to The Coder School for several years.McGrail, The Coder School General Manager WC, is very responsive. He gets knowledgeable and patient coaches. My kids have always been paired with fantastic coaches/mentors that inspire them to learn several coding languages and create their own programs. The kids meet once/week with their instructor and/or with another child with similar ability for an hour to code a project of their choice.The Coder School is unlike other coding lessons. While the other places tell the kids which button to push to create the same code, the Coder School coaches/mentors help the children create what the kids want to code and teach to that. Every week their coach emails a report on their project and what they have been learning. In reality, my kids are too excited and want to show what they’ve accomplished immediately after every sessions even after several years of coding classes.We, as parents and a tech professional, are in awe of the code that our children have created and can’t believe they have progressed so far and how much they love to code. A big thank you to McGrail, the coaches and the Coder School.

My 10yo daughter has been taking classes from The Code School - Walnut Creek for about 3 months. Im a fan but have a few qualifications:* Language: there are many computer languages so dont assume the first one will resonate with your child. My daughter started with Scratch but quickly migrated to Python. She was more comfortable writing code than dragging/arranging blocks...* Instructor: Coder School validates the competence of instructors, but variation remains. If the first instructor doesnt work well for your child, ask for a new one. Software development (as any kind of design/architecture) has many different specialties and personalities. Dont assume one try will lead to a perfect match.

My 10 year old son has been having weekley lessons for a couple months. This school has really reinforced his drive to learn coding. The coaches do a great job of teaching to his level and making each lesson engaging while at the same time letting the student drive where the lesson goes to keep their interest high. We enrolled our 10 year old in 1-on-1 coder classes and he absolutely loves the classes. As a parent, I like that that they are tailored for what I want my son to get out of it (learning basic and advanced coding principles) and not just what my son wants to get out of it (creating more games in Roblox!). He also really enjoys his coach Christian.

My seven years old loves the coding class. His teacher Andres builds the class around my sons interests and helps him getting hands on experience on something very new to him. The remote class allows me extra time at home avoiding to drive back and forth. We had been very pleased with the teacher and the management.

My son and his friend have weekly sessions with coach Christian. My son really looks forward to his sessions; its hard to impress him! I get weekly class notes that summarizes thr class content. Great communication by the manager, McGrail, reminder emails 48 hours prior to class, and a flexible 24 hour rescheduling policy. Highly recommend!

My 8 year old has been taking weekly 1 hour classes for about two months. He is very engaged during the entire class and has been talking about some of the coding concepts learned. The instructor has a clear lesson plan for each class and encourages a collaborative environment.

This is Jack, and I go to the coder school, everyone has a great sense of humor. They teach you everything they know, in the shortest and most efficient ways possible. They also let you choose what you want to code, unlike most school computer labs. I am in 5th grade, and I have been going for a bit over a year and they be have definitely stepped up my computer intelligence.

5 Stars for Coder School. My son is a first grader who loves video games. I took the approach of adding learning to this love-affair. My son has been able to apply reading, writing and math concepts to a subject he already loves, which is technology. His Coach Taj made this possible by engaging him in age appropriate coder games. Taj is a rockstar. He is beyond patient with my first grader and a super cool coach. My son looks forward to their time together. If you have a little engineer on your hands and you want to expand their minds beyond playing video games - try teaching them the background software and give theCoderSchool a try!!!!

Our son has been attending the Coder School for about 10 months now. First in person and now virtually during COVID. The team he works with is very professional and they have introduced him to 5 coding languages so far. Our son is learning quickly and is doing things that I could never do. McGrail is also incredible in advising you on what to put your child in and what not to. For example we signed up for a summer camp and McGrail contacted me to indicate the camp would be too elementary for our son. He was worried about keeping our son engaged. He was very accommodating another option instead. Highly recommend them. They keep it interesting and fun!!

My twins participated in the coding school for about 8 months, and all the while Mcgrail and his colleagues went above and beyond my expectations in engaging my kids, finding the right fit in a coach, exploring different media venues to pique their interests, and just giving us overall the sense that we mattered in this world. Mcgrail, in particular, probably has the amazing, enthusiastic customer service ethic Ive ever encountered. He is the main reason we stayed for so long. Clean, well-run and responsive teachers and staff. My son has learned a lot about coding and website creation. It’s nice to have an attentive teacher as other coding schools we have tried didn’t give as personalized of an experience. We would highly recommended them!
