My daughter loves her coding sessions with her coach, and has been making cool games for a couple of years now. One of her games even won a nationwide competition. Highly recommend the Coder School of Berkeley!

Our 9 year old son had the best week at Coder School! He loved the projects balanced with the outside PE time. Great experience!

Our son has really enjoyed working with his coding coach, Grant! He has developed some good coding skills. The staff at the Coder School are all very nice, helpful and accommodating. Our family have been working with the Coder School for several years and have had a great experience. We hope they continue to be successful.

Code Coaching at the Coder School really helped to develop our kids passion for coding and their ability to make their ideas concrete. Lynna worked with us on a special request (a specific programming language and interest in pro game design) and took the time to get to know our kid and match them with after school coaches that would be a great fit. If you have a kid who wants to learn more about how to write code in an environment filled with other kids who are also excited about code projects, I highly recommend the Coder School.

My 8 year old wanted to learn coding so we tried a trial session at the coder school and immediately knew it was a good fit.The coaches have all made my shy kid feel comfortable, the admin have been great at communication when we need to make a schedule change, and the flexibility to take make up classes (rather than just lose out on a session when traveling or ill) is so helpful. But best of all, my kid looks forward to this class so much each week.I also love the notes I get from the coaches after classes summarizing the skills they worked on. Recently, we tried a remote class (because my son didn’t want to miss his coding classes while on vacation!) and I was in awe listening to how he and the coach discussed and analyzed the game he was building. Whether or not he pursues coding later in life, I believe that the critical thinking being practiced at the coder school will benefit my son greatly.

Were so glad we started our 11 year old son at Coder School! The facility is terrific, location is convenient, and the instructors do a great job with communicating. There was a week where our child had to do his lesson remotely and they made the adjustment smoothly, and we really appreciate the post-session notes. Our son loves to learn at Coder School: were even doing the summer camp! If you have a child who is interested in coding, this is a great place to get them involved.

My daughter has had an online code coach for three years (since the beginning of the pandemic) with the Coder School Berkeley and has participated in two summer camps. Lynna, the owner of the school has invested in deeply understanding my childs learning needs and the coaches have all been fabulous.Overall, it is an environment that supports her needs from the social and understanding internet safety, to the technical aspects of coding and syntax. They have even connected her coding to what she is working on in school! She really likes the creative aspects of game building and they find the right balance of creative an technical. I owe it to the great coaches that she has continued being active in this for so long.

Unfortunately our experience was pretty awful! My son attended a open house class to check out the school. He loves coding and has taken so many terrific classes. The instructors didnt introduced themselves or ask the kids names, the instructor leading the coding had her back to the class and was barely audible, my son kept getting up to see the projected screen closer (ten times!) and at no point did a teacher ask if hed like to sit close to see better, although one instructor was circulating he never once said hello to my kid or asked if he was understanding things. We were disappointed!

Weve sent our daughter here for a couple of years for a week every summer and she has had really good experiences every time and looks forward to going back every year. Shes learned skills appropriate for her age (elementary school). They have a pretty wide range of programs for different age groups. Its a good introduction to programming and starting with accessible projects that can be completed in a week or less helps build confidence for young kids to take on bigger projects. This year she got to bring the micro:bit kit she worked on home with her which is pretty cool and hopefully she will stay interested in it.

My child attended the Roblox camp at Coder School. The camp is well organized and the counselors are knowledgeable and helpful. My child enjoyed learning to code through the creation of their own games. They presented their game to the parents at the conclusion of camp. Highly recommend.
