I have stayed at the Sandman Hotel on a number of occasions for a few months and just for the night. The office team is very professional but not uptight. Very relaxed atmosphere.The housekeeping is very much so a reflection of the amount of love that is put into this establishment. The rooms are crisp and clean with special attention to detail. You can tell these women and then pride themselves on their job it shows in every aspect of this well-oiled machine. I am very happy with my stay an I will be back Im sure, if they will have me back that is 😊

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sandman Hotel. The rooms were very clean and I liked the Californian new age look of the rooms. Everything felt really clean which is a huge. The shower water had great pressure and hot water came fast. The room felt pretty spacious and the bed and pillows were comfortable. Our room had both a microwave and a fridge which was a huge plus. You can clearly tell the hotel was just newly re-done. AC also worked great.Amenities - they have a pool, jacuzzi, and a fun area to hangout. The pool stays open until 10pm which is a huge plus as most hotels close early.Dogs are allowed!Cons: There are only two floors in the hotel and we stayed on the bottom floor, it did get a little noisy at night as we could clearly hear everyone coming and going.They dont have daily room cleaning and we have to let them know in advance if we want the room cleaned.The location isnt the best and there isnt too much happening in the neighborhood but if you have a car it is pretty central to a lot of the wineries and things you would want to do in Santa Rosa. Sure it isn’t a fancy 4 or 5 star hotel, but you get what you pay for (and maybe a little more). There’s a pool and hot tub to use. It’s a large area, so even throughout the night some people were heard walking around, but it wasn’t enough to keep me awake.I enjoyed my stay!

Hotel was very clean and the staff were wonderful. Breakfast was great. This hotel is an amazing value and I would highly recommend it!I noticed a review mentioned about no housekeeping or towel replacement... In almost all hotels now (including 4 & 5 stars), you have to request those. With water shortages, etc., it is the most responsible way to go.

Staying for work and everything is wonderful. Staff takes care of us, the AC blows ice cold and the rooms neither smell of mold nor have blood stains on the walls. Solid hotel.

A lovely budget-friendly motel that has been nicely renovated. Our nightly rate came out to under $80 which I haven’t paid for a safe and clean place in decades. The front desk staff was very friendly and prompt in adjusting a billing error that occurred upon checkout.

Had several rude employees this stay. They wouldnt give me a late check out and are making me run to the bank this instant because they need to hold 3 separate deposits for a Priceline booking. So they have $300 of my money now I have no choice but to stay over and the fridge leaked all over the floor the first day I stayed there because someone turned the setting down to 1 before I checked in. Hopefully I dont get blamed for that too. Will take pictures before I leave to ensure that Im not harassed again.

Room was fine. Clearly an older hotel they tried to renovate. Modern paint and fixtures, maybe new carpet? but old bones. Staff was nice, breakfast was ok, but nice incentive. Weird square pillows on the bed, not a normal rectangle. Price matches the experience.

Stayed here many times clean room night time counter boy was awesome but our king sized mattress was awful! Hard as a rock. 147 needs a new mattress! But other than that good clean friendly easy to access freeway.

Staff is beyond rude. Lack of hospitality. Terrible hotel for business travelers. Bed had stains. Centipede in bathroom through wall open at baseboard to the dirt allowing critters inside. Bed was comfy. Housekeepers are nice, helpful. Definitely a profit over people approach. Wanted to enjoy my stay and maybe set up corporate account, but the experience fell far below any decent mark. Owned by Yang Capital and managed by Pyramid Global Hospitality. Avoid. Avoid.

Very nice rooms with beautiful decor and full size Acca Kappa toiletries. Yoga studio and heated pool. Wonderful customer service and a good breakfast included. Will definitely stay again when in the area!

Yes, it is renovated but they cut out the breakfast and even the in room coffee. They gave us 1 pkt of caffeinated coffee for 2 people and when I asked for more They said all we have is decafe, go buy it next door. they could have cared less.

The staff are thieves. I forgot an item locked in the in-room safe after I checked out. Called several times over the next few days, and they would not talk to me or return calls. Either the housekeeper stole it, or turned it into management and they stole it. Santa Rosa police are investigating, but its not likely that the slimy, ignorant staff will be held accountable.

Made my reservation for one person june 19th stayed two nights left with no damages to the room what so ever, they charged my card 200.00 on top of the room rate per night and i still havent got my 200.00 back for the so called incidentals its now june 24th plus i noticed someones review stating they offer breakfast in the morning, thats completely false they do not offer breakfast thank you

My second stay at Sandman was on March 19, 2024. My first visit was on May 2, 2019, when I stayed at Sandman on a press trip with a group of travel writers/photographers. The motel (not a hotel) had just been renovated and was in pristine condition. I had a good but short one-night experience.My fiancé and I stayed one night on our way to San Francisco. The rate was under $100 for an ‘accessible’ room.Upon arrival, I went into the office to check-in. At first, I thought no one was there, but as I approached the desk, I saw the clerk sitting in a low chair behind a big computer monitor, hiding him. The young man did not make eye contact or even offer a greeting.I indicated I was checking in and gave him my name. He placed a form on the desk and said, “Fill this in.” I did so and was handed two key cards and was told the Wi-Fi code was on the key envelope. I asked about a restaurant, and he said the Thai place was good while pointing down the street.We entered room 164 and were pleased with the décor and the exceptional cleanliness of all room areas until my companion sat down on the desk chair. After a few minutes, he discovered his jeans were wet in the back. We figured out that the chair was soaking wet. We immediately called the front office to report the problem. In minutes, someone took the chair away, replacing it with a dry one. Good service, thanks.We did feel the room was only marginally ‘accessible.’ To use the shower, you had to climb into a deep tub. This would be very difficult for someone in a wheelchair. While there was a fold-down bench, it was far away from the water controls, and the large fluffy towels were 12 feet across the room.The sink and vanity had plenty of room for a wheelchair to roll under, but the sink and vanity seemed too high for use from a chair. In addition, the toilet required you to hold down the handle to get a complete flush wasting water.The room had a microwave, coffee maker, and tea kettle, but no tea. There was a refrigerator and a toaster oven. We thought a toaster oven seemed a bit dangerous for a motel room. We only used the tea kettle (after walking to the office for tea bags), so we can’t comment on the other appliances.The king-sized bed was very comfortable, with quality linens and fresh pillows. An easy chair and table were nice to use for our tea. There was a desk and chair that we wanted to use for our laptops, but there was no power outlet. We had to plug in by the bed. The Wi-Fi worked as expected.The following morning, we went to the ‘lounge’ for breakfast. Oh my, what a depressing place. The room next to the office had one communal table. The TV blared depressing morning news. The food was equally sad. The hot foods of bacon, sausage, and eggs had been cooked in a microwave. The bacon was stuck together and greasy but had a nice smokey flavor and aroma. The scrambled eggs had an off-putting smell and were little squares that looked more like pudding than eggs. The sausage was the ‘brown and serve’ variety but had not been browned. I used a not-too-flakey croissant to make a breakfast sandwich from the bacon and sausage. My companion had yogurt, bacon, and sausage. Green tea was the only kind available. Coffee was there for coffee drinkers. We did find orange juice and milk.Check-out was a repeat of check-in, with the clerk hiding behind the computer monitor and offering no greeting. Her only words were to tell me I had booked with a third party and my receipt would come via email — it still hasn’t arrived.I doubt we would ever stay here again. Although some things were nice and everything was spotless, we were disappointed in — the unprofessional front desk staff, terrible breakfast in a depressing room, closed pool bar, wet chair (not detected by cleaners), people smoking near rooms, and worst of all, the apparent sex workers on the property.

Our room was supposed to have a great pool view but it didnt in the slightest. We were on the ground floor. Between us and the pool was bushes, a stairway, a parking lot, and a tall fence. See photo of pool view being advertised.The pool was pretty with its tile and layout. Lots of people were enjoying it but nobody was bothersome. The hot tub had a really strong jet that was great for massages but I had to get my friends to hold me in place to massage my shoulders with the jet because it was that powerful. The other jets in the hot tub werent as powerful. The temperature wasnt as hot so I could bask for a long time.It seems like there were other nice public areas but I didnt get to check them out.The bedding felt nice and the room had a better than average decorating scheme.The shower had small spots of wear.The price was pretty great considering all the other hotels that Ive stayed at for a similar price or even for more.I didnt get to interact with anybody who worked there so I cant tell you about the employees.Were going to use that hotel again. :)Update: We used the hotel again. Our room smelled like cigarette smoke. At first we thought it was because there were a bunch of what seemed liked construction workers having a party (that involved smoking and a portable grill) outside our room in the parking lot. (The hotel is undergoing renovations.) The smell persisted after they left, unfortunately. When we told the front office, they didnt seem to care. We had a great time other than the cigarette smell. We had the hot tub to ourselves on a Thursday night which was gorgeous and super fun.

So people next to my room woke me up at 6 am because they where slamming doors arguing and fighting each other. I let the guy at the front desk know before I checked out, instead of making it right and apologizing/giving me a discount on my stay all he said was yeah we got a couple calls and looked at me like ok what do you want me to do about it. Also I paid extra for breakfast thinking it was gonna be something good, its a joke cereal and yogurt and the smelled like piss in there. Never coming back

Not a bad place to stay. Also, not a lot to say. The room was clean, the check-in counter folks were nice, and the location was nearby a couple of decent restaurants. That little factor was quite good because the free breakfast they advertise is just a couple bagels and low quality bread. It was decently cheap for the area as well so I was more than happy to stay here.

DON’T STAY HERE! What I thought would be a relaxing visit turned into a Police filled nightmare. Every few days the Santa Rosa Police showed up and once I saw a man in a black bullet proof vest hauled out. Later some red haired woman was screaming at the top of her lungs for hours before the police showed up and miraculously missed her….. Why stay here??? Go somewhere else. The bald tattooed “manager” has no idea of customer service, and spends more time smoking than working. A real disappointment.

I did a cash deposit of 100 dollars, while on vacation I lost my wallet. A girl at the front desk refused to give me my deposit without ID, even though I told her my name, room number and the denomination of the bills of the deposit. It couldve easily been solved I didnt leave any damage to the room and even showed her the email of my confirmation of the stay. Keep in mind I lost my wallet so I really needed the 100 dollars

My 4th and most likely last stay. Theyve remodeled rooms over the last year but the clientele has also changed. I come here with family but its no longer family friendly. We could not sleep in our extra expensive family room this stay because someone upstairs was wrestling their dog all night. I cant make that up. They were WRESTLING their dog and the dog was winning. Since there arent phones in the rooms and no one answered when called from my own phone, I jumped in my car to drive to the office in PJs and socks at 3:30 am to let staff know what was happening. Security was walking up to the womans room as I drove away. What a waste of money. One teen thought the ceiling was going to cave in on her in the bunk bed. We were up the rest of the night. I also noticed more than one probable sex worker walking around the property. More power to them but keep it behind closed doors if your trying to attract family clientele. We had been excited to have a go-to place to stay in town but well try another place next time. Its definitely changed since our first stay in 2021. The paint and new bathrooms cant help when you allow people to practically live there.

First and formost, im not one to post negatives about businesss but this one takes the cake! We have just moved from another state and transitioning for our careers.We stayed here for a extended period of about 2 months. I was eventually introduced to Craig, one of the managers. At first everything was okay, minus all the people activity, the weed smoking outside, and the lack of proper sealing around doors for proper sound installation, cheap, uncomfortable (ikea chairs?) Eithierway, it was a place to lay your head. I had instilled trust in the management that I would pay and I eventually became reliable to them. I was paying day-to-day, and recently business had gotten slow, so I was unable to book the room at a certain time and had to come in and pay for the previous day that day, early morning, I did this with cash and only twice! So Simply because I was late and established all this trust I thought, no biggie, I mean Im paying up right? 😅 WRONG! That very same day (today) the manger (who seemed to be having a bad day 😪) Greig, told me, we had to be out by 11am or he WOULD CALL THE POLICE! Call the police!?? We were absolutely appalled! like he had a split personality emerge from him, I mean isnt that for people who are belligerent and criminal like behavior/activity? Apparently not! so HE DID and shortly later, two lady officers come to save the day and tell us we were trespassers if we didnt leave by 11, 12 rolls around OUTRAGEOUS! I mean common! Dude! We were packing stuff from a 2 month stay and needed additional time. He seems to be one that hides behind others and didnt offer any alternative resoulution in the situation as a good manager should. Im a diplomic person, and since I figured weve been here long term, spent over $4,000 dollars, and were respectful, model tenants He would have some diplomacy. NOPE! his sheer audacity and hateful approach will be remembered and should not be ignored by others considering this as an alternative living situation. No honor for all my hard work and money spent just to keep a roof over our heads.P.S. its not a great stay for the price, you will find better and cheaper and the pool smelt a bit like poop. It tries to be something itll never be, a shiek hipster Hotspot. No hi get high Craig.

Impeccably clean and well equipped. Our room had a refrigerator, toaster, coffee pot, electric kettle, microwave, etc. There is a Trader Joes in walking distance and its located conveniently off of hwy 101. The staff were helpful and inviting and its pet friendly which is perfect for our family.

Cleanliness in and out is 5, also the location is great to me, near the main museums and down town, every thing renewed and modified recently, plenty of parking spots and quite at the end of facility, there’re 2 reason I gave less score for service are: 1st breakfast was incomplete and NOT organized, there was NO, cheese, cream cheese or butter to spread on bagels, just jam and milk, fruits including apples and oranges both the cheapest quality like 99c stores stuffs. 2nd front desk was too serious like register soldiers in military base, need to learn greeting or probably little welcome SMILE.

Checking in was by far the best part of overall experience. Staff was friendly, and service was quick. Location is still VERY much under construction. I suspect the construction crew were living just a couple doors down. Our room was remodeled nicely, though it still had the prior occupants trash left about the room. Lastly, the day after checking out (on time, no room damage, etc.) a mysterious +$100 charge showed up from hotel on our credit card. Room was booked and paid in advance through Agoda. So, why? Room, in my opinion, was already over-priced??

Interior was very clean. Parking space is rather narrow. However, didnt feel as safe as I should. Spotted around 6 gang members in the area. It went from feeling like a decent vacation spot to a place for temporary housing for those on rehab rather quick. You get what you paid for.

Super disappointed. It just doesn’t matter anymore businesses lack humanity. Booked this room because it was 25% off & I needed it to get away from my partner who had been putting hands on me the past 3 days in a row however in the stress of it all I spaced the $100 dollar deposit required at check in. since I only had about $150 to my name when I got there I asked the lady behind the desk I asked her if she would work with me considering. All u had to offer was a $350 diamond necklace and my drivers license as collateral. I know the policies and procedures,, but I was asking for some grace it was all I could come up with. She said she would need to a managers approval but quickly followed with text book reasons why she wasn’t going to. Now my money is locked up in that room because she can’t refund me either I have to go thru the 3rd party which we all know takes 3 to 10 business days, I’m not safe I have nowhere to go. I have no money and they couldn’t compromise so I politely said thank you. I appreciate their time and I left. These things are not new situations when booking rooms online just pack a harder blow when ur left sleeping in ur car worried about ur safety.

I stayed here for less than 8 hours and I brought home what the doctor called SCABIES!!! I was pretty skeched out right when I walked in. First thing I saw was a weird mirror that used a second mirror to visualize the entire room. Ladies! I did the finger nail test and it did not pass! I covered the mirror with my towel. Floors were dirty, shower was dirty and the travel soaps were open AND half empty. I wore long sleeves long pants to bed and tried not to move but contracted scabies anyway. I have been trying to get rid of them for 2 weeks now. Do your self a favor and sleep in your car.

This is not a hotel, but is a motel. They should have a security service to monitor the premises at night. We checked in at 9:30 pm. The air conditioner did not work and the deadbolt was questionable. We put a table against the door while sleeping. I did go to the front desk when we discovered the problems. We were assigned a new room and I went to check it out before moving our stuff and found a man yelling outside a room on the lower level trying to get in, two men in the parking lot with their faces completely covered with scarves and another man on the second level trying to break into another room. I went back to my first room and called the front desk and they said they had received another call and was taking care of it. We decided to stay where we where and stayed in our first room with no air and lodged a table in the room against the door handle. At 8:30 am my husband stepped outside to smoke and then housekeeping walked in on me while I still lay in the bed. This was our fist and last time staying here. We will never stay here again.

Very disappointed in our annual trip to The Sandman. We been coming here for 3 summers now and look forward to coming and relaxing. With the construction going on, its so disruptive with the amount of noise and dust. Could not even sleep in. My kids love to spend the late afternoons into the night at the pool and I was very disappointed that the pool bar was closed. The bartender Sean was always very nice and great with the kids and also very accommodating to us parents that he would come to us and for our drink orders, always had nice music playing and was great with the kids drink requests too. I asked to speak with the property manager, but he was not available, and they were not sure when he would be in. With the high price changes, you would think that it would be for the better not the opposite. Most likely will not be returning and will be finding another place to stay when we come to Santa Rosa again.

The pictures on Google are not what you see once on site. Not even the lobby looks like that. There was boxes everywhere as they are renovating. This is understandable and did not bother us at all. What did bother us was the fact that on Monday morning around 7am we can hear all the renovation crew talking loud and making noise, getting ready to start work. At 8am they started banging and cutting pipes in the bathroom next door.Can definitely say we could not go back to sleep so we got up and started getting ready for an early day. Why in the world would HOUSEKEEPING come knocking at 8:45am!!!! Never in my life have I ever had housekeeping come to my room so early.I understand renovation and getting an early start . . . but if you have a guest and you know you are renovating the room next door while there is a guest. Maybe, dont start renovations until they have checked out or maybe place the guest in a room that will not have a room next door being renovated at 8AM with housekeeping knocking at their door at 8:45am.

The room has WiFi, a microwave, fridge thats good sized, a tiny toaster oven, temperature control, coffee and water pot.The bed was so comfortable. The flat screen was huge and many channels available or use your Roku or Fire device.Customer service was great when the WiFi wouldnt connect for us.And the heated pool and hot tub was luxurious. Love it and will return. Price breaks for week long visits.

The hotel itself is fine -- decently clean and the renovations are cute, although theyre very cheaply done. But the staff is absolutely horrible. I had to wait in line to check out and watched them be rude, belittling, and outright mean to multiple guests who had simple requests (one asked for more soap in his shower and one asked for more coffee when it ran out during breakfast hours).

Can’t understand how this place gets more than 1 star. It does not resemble the pictures. Loud, ants in the room, when I first arrived I was given the key to a room that was being occupied by another person; I open the door and that person’s belongings were all over the room. The lady at the front desk apologized, and was very nice and friendly. However, fire alarms going on twice did not help with sleep. I was there for business.People out at night every night being loud. Drunk guys the second night. Front desk did not do anything about it. I would have not stayed there if I would have seen the place before booking, moreover, I would never stay in a hotel where I don’t feel safe. And my safety was a concern the second night. The place is extremely expensive for what it has to offer.Also, they need to add blackout drapes to the windows; there was no privacy in the room.Breakfast was good, not free, but good; and the young lady at the cafe was extremely nice.One of the worst places I have visited.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! Where do I even begin. This is the first time Ive left a bad review for a hotel... but word to the wise, DONT waste your money. Just to name a few: Door didnt seal and we could see the outside from around the door. The room was so loud that I asked to be moved- The man behind the counter raised his voice and told me NO and then laughed out loud in my face... SUPER weird and (creepy). No soap, shampoo in the room. Room was dirty- mold in the bathroom. Breakfast is a sham... Everything was broken or out, AKA they didnt want to deal with it. When the morning coffee was out by 8:00am I told the SAME front desk guy- Thats not my job, find someone else to help you. WHAT?!?! The staff was sketchy, the rooms were HORRIBLE! I forgot my professional grade toothbrush (ugh)... they called and said they found something in my room- but then changed their mind and said they didnt find anything... AKA they stole my nice toothbrush. All together we wasted over a $1,000 and I cant get a hold of anyone to talk this through. Really, dont stay here.No. Dirty (like a motel) and LOUD!! 6-year old daughter woke up all through the night because the road noise was so loud.

Our stay at The Sandman was a good one. I thought it was a very cute little boutique hotel. You can tell it is older but they did a great job remodeling. Everything was clean and the bed in my opinion was comfortable…my husband thought it was too soft?!? It was a unique stay at a really good price for a weekend getaway!! There was a pretty decent size area for the dogs do their business where they provided poop bags for the owners. We did not get to try out the pool because it was too cold for us Texans but there were always people in the pool and hot tub. One thing I thought was really nice is they host a wine yoga from 4-5p on the weekend with complimentary wine for the guests. Super neat…never heard of a hotel doing that. Breakfast was provided but minimal. They had a few different types of coffee, several types of tea, boiled eggs, build your own yogurt, cereal, muffins, and bread. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would stay again, especially for the price. Hotels are just a place for us to lay our heads at night but this one is unique and not your typical!

Ive stayed here multiple times for miscellaneous Santa Rosa stuff like music, doctors appt, car stuff. Rooms have been clean, location is great and the hot-tub pool on point. Travel alone a lot, it always feels safe. Someone love plant. Beautiful flowers and bushes, especially rosemary, abound this pet friendly motel.Nice pool and jacuzzi, bocce ball court, gas fire pits. Great gym to work out.Finally, this place is conveniently located to the freeway without getting drowned by noise and traffic. To me, the highlight of this property is the pool/patio area, which features a nice, low chlorine pool and a jacuzzi. There is a shower for convenience right on the patio, as well as lounging chairs and tables with umbrellas. The rooms have been tastefully remodeled and the fridge and microwave in each room is a huge bonus for me. The ice machines actually had ice in them, even tough it was a hot day and the property is pet friendly. The workout room is bare bones but still nice to have!

This hotel is a construction site working into the evening. The room had no soap and had broken furniture and the floors looked dirty. They had rented to a man above me who was moving furniture all night and cursing all night. After complaining I was told they could do nothing about this. Pictures are definitely photo shoped. No restaurant or bar. No wall art in room. The shower door will not close. Just keeps opening, asked them to fix it they never came. Asked again and there response is oh we will fix it tomorrow. The electrical outlets are almost immposible to use in thr bathroom. You have to walk all the way to the office to get ice. The gym has hours of 6am to 10 pm. I tried entering at 8 am, was told oh I will get down there around d 830. I dont start until 8:30, Im leaving at 9. Why have hours up if its a lie. Breakfast there is a joke. Not worth the 440 for 2 nights. I would have been happier at another hotel for half the price. Construction going on during all hours of the day so dont except to get any much needed. It honestly put me in a bad mood the whole time I was here. I wouldnt suggest this hotel to anybody. Worst service I have ever had that dont care about the people staying here at all. The only positive is the room is very clean.

We only stayed one night and did request a room further back (away from the entrance) to avoid the noise, just needed a place to sleep, the bed and pillows were comfy.I was a tad disappointed that the breakfast was minimal, but with economy and disease concerns being the way they are, I cannot fault them for it. The lady who checked us in was wonderful despite having computer difficulties (dont we love how computers make life so much simpler, except when they dont), she kept her sense of humor and we giggled and joked our way through the process. The room is decent when I checked in at the night time they had a different policy than at the day time. The staff is not all on the same page at all, I’ve been getting the run around all morning. The lamps in the room had stains on them, there was a funny smell when entering the room, staff had a nasty attitude, not sure if it’s cause it’s morning but whatever. Stayed here February 2023 as a last minute decision due to the snow events.All in all was not going to leave a review, it’s a motel, nothing special. However, we reserved our one night stay online, through Expedia, paid on Expedia. A few days later reviewing credit card statement there was another charge for another night stay at the Sandman. Called front desk 3 times and all three times they acknowledged the error, apologized and said a manager would call me back the next day to rectify the extra room charge. Never happened, no one called back, so now I’m dealing with my bank’s customer service to contest the charge. Thankful to at least have the ability to go through my bank.Would not recommend to avoid the extra headaches.Update: Francisco at the front desk was really kind and is the only person that actually looked into this issue on March 31st after I’ve called many times since our stay and was able to resolve it. My husband and I are temporarily living the nomadic life and in need of a place to sleep for one night, booked the Motel 6 North in Santa Rosa. It was an absolute travesty. We checked out immediately (it was about midnight) and while driving away noticed The Sandman.Philippe was working the night shift and greeted me with utmost friendliness. Stayed on July 31st. This place is beautiful. Such a cute exterior. Rolling up on it everything was lit up pink from the sunset. The room was nothing fancy. Old fixtures and such which were kind of cute and kitchy. Nice linen and super comfortable beds with lots of pillows. The pool, hottub and bar area was adorable. Really big hot tub where we shared a conversation with a few people. The bartender was nice and helpful with getting more of the pool towels. Wonderful stay! You can tell this hotel is in a transition.. upgrading a forgotten gem. The rooms are minimalist the restrooms a little tiny but I enjoyed my stay. The king-size bed and king size pillows were soft and fluffy. There were some small minor details over looked like refilling the soap dispensers... but it was quiet and I felt safe. Bad customer service from Francisco at the front desk over the phone. I explained to him that I needed to modify my reservation and what was the reason for no one answering the telephone? I had to call three separate times before anyone answered. I explained to him that he could put me on hold because it sounded like he was very busy. When he came back on the line he asked me the paying customer if I was trying to score points. I was so confused and asked him what he meant. After my question he asked me if I was trying to score points and that I was passive aggressive. After that remark I asked to speak to his manager Michael. All I was calling (or trying to call until I reached someone) was to push my reservation from a Saturday to a Monday. I was already stressed as it was because having to evacuate due to the upcoming flood where I live. I explained to Franciscos supervisor he needs to teach and train his front desk on hospitality. The hotel/motel business is based on hospitality. I just told Michael to cancel the 3 night reservation due to horrible customer service. Thats loss of revenue and a customer due to a hostile employee. Whats sad was I stayed there one night previously and it was a great experience with the front desk and all the employees(including housekeeping).

I have no idea how this motel has any good review at all. If I could give this motel zero stars, I would. First off, this is by no stretch of the imagination a hotel. Its a motel. Kudos to whomever took the pictures of this motel, they miraculously made it look much more upscale than it is. When I arrived, it looked nothing like the pictures. I was put in a room at the very back of the parking lot, close to where the pool is located. There was a large gathering of men at a picnic table near that location playing loud music and drinking beer. In the corridor above me there were also some men hanging out. Traveling as a single woman, I became very concerned when I realized I was being stared at as I was getting my luggage out of my vehicle and walking to my room. The room walls were so thin, it sounded as if the noise from outside was actually inside my room. The room itself was nothing special. There was some wood board on the bed, which I had no idea what it was for. Later, in pictures, I saw that it was some sort of game. Where the pictured game had some sort of scoring pad, little booklet (or something, thats what Im assuming it was, and pencil. The one on my bed had nothing. The furnishings had seen better days, as they appeared a bit rough. Everything about the room was nothing like it was portrayed as being. Ive stayed in plenty of motel rooms, so I have nothing against that. Ive stayed in my fair share of budget friendly places.... what bothered me was I didnt feel safe, the cost of the room was more aligned with the photos in the ad, versus what it actually looks like. Within 15 mins of arriving I was at the front desk asking for a refund. Which I didnt get. There was no way I was going to stay there, not with the men staring me down and my being there by myself. I ended up going to stay at the Flamingo, which was similarly priced.... but SO MUCH BETTER. The Sandman is a dive motel. Also, it appeared as if they have permanent residence living there. When I asked the front desk about this, she seemed to avoid answering me directly. She said that yes, they do have people that stay for longer stays. When I Googled it, it seems as if in 2020 they were giving out housing vouchers for The Sandman. I wonder if they still are? And perhaps that would explain the party going on in their picnic area on a Jan evening. Definitely a strong apartment atmosphere vibe going on there and not really motel vibe.ANYway, I totally feel like I was scammed. My advice is to stay away from this place. They portray themselves as something they are not. By the time you realize this, theyll have your money and youll be committed to staying in one of their severely overpriced rooms or letting them keep your money while you go and stay elsewhere.

This place is WEIRD. Im pretty sure they took a Motel 6 or a Holiday Inn Express and just threw some colors they thought millennials would enjoy up and called it a brand new hotel. Legit, the rooms are the exact same you would get in a lower tier hotel. Also the rooms are motel style - the doors lead straight to the outside. That was not really made clear in their websites (its a safety concern for me, so like to know ahead of time). The thing that drove me nuts was they painted, put carpets in, designed, etc to make it look higher end, but they didnt. touch. the. bathrooms. Mine was, for lack of a better word, GROSS. The tub was old and dirty, the floor was old and dirty and poorly caulked. Youd think if you were going to drop money to redo the hotel, they would update the bathroom! My drain was also blocked, which the staff was kind enough to take care of. The pool had a lot of debris on the bottom, but it had rained earlier. Basically, for what they tout themselves as, I was not impressed.

Not all of us coffee drinkers can tolerate caffeine, and that was a disappointment. We even asked for some in the office but were told there is none. However, I dont think Ill be staying here again for a few reasons:The room I was in was was suppose to have a courtyard view. Idk about you, but the front parking lot isnt exactly a courtyard. Not a major issue, but kind of false marketing when I picked a room that was suppose to have at least somewhat of a view. I was asked what floor I wanted to be on, making it seem like the courtyard view thing means literally nothing. Either that, or they dont assign rooms until you actually get there.The bigger issues are the sound, the quality of the room, and the ants. I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. I couldnt sleep at all. There is NO sound dampening at all in the room. Someone walking or talking outside my room would be increadably loud. I listened to three dude at midnight talk to each other about 5 rooms down for about 45 minutes and could hear every word perfectly, like they were in my room. Dont get me started on the trucks and loud cars that would drive on the road that was basically adjacent to my room (I was near the main entrance of the hotel, so when anyone would leave or enter the hotels parking lot, I would hear it). It cant be that hard to put a simple door weather strip and call it a day. At least the bare minimum would have helped.As for the quality of the room, my room was pretty rough. The bathroom faucet had laughably low water pressure, the shower faucets leaked considerably (to the point a decent sized puddle was covering half the bathroom floor before I noticed), and the overall construction of the room looked cheap and rushed (Im an interior designer, so I know this is something not everyone will see - or maybe it was just my room being jank).Lastly, the ants. There were ants in my room. Not a lot, but a decent amount. Not the end of the world, but my rule of thumb is if there are ants in the room before I even check in, something up.Honestly, the biggest issue is the sound. Everything else is more an annoyance than a deal breaker. Either way, if you can get a room far, FAR away from the main entry, I could imagine your stay being at least tolerable. Hell, maybe even good! But if you get a room near the entry of the parking lot, bring noise canceling earbuds (or be a heavy sleeper) because itll be a long night without them.Cant rate it a 1 because the employees were very nice, but cant rate it higher than a 2 because the hotel failed in the most important catagory: being a place to sleep, because I couldnt sleep.

This is a great hotel. I have stayed here several times. Except this last time I was upset because I wanted to take a bath and also give our baby a bath. I go to do that and there is no plug or anything for it. I then call the front desk and they send someone up to check it out and then se that there is no plug. The room was almost perfect. The only thing I have to complain about was the chairs. They had what looked like pee stains on them, and even the desk chair had what looked like grease stains. We called the front desk and told them just so they wouldnt have charged us for it; and they were nice about it. Even swapped the chairs when they cleaned the room for second night. Hotel was NOT properly staffed to handle incoming Thanksgiving holiday travelers.Cute remodel but it did not make up for the *lack of expected amenities, *poor customer service and *downright rude commentary of one staff member “CATHY”. I called the front desk to let her know we had slept through the night cold as the heating system worked the first night but not the second and that we needed new towels.CATHY indicated the maids would not be available to deliver towels for over an hour when they arrived at the hotel and that the heat would not be fixed by the maintenance man as he may / may not be around as it was a holiday.I asked to speak with a manager in that case to get a discounted rate on the room to which she responded the manager would not be there until Monday.After all this, she indicated that the hotel (was) properly staffed as she was there. Then changed her tune to state that she is not responsible for the staffing— as if that would help our situation in any way.Cathy is not fit for the hospitality industry- she should work at a Covid-Interment camp, not a boutique hotel.

I went on Priceline searching for a nice Hotel. I booked this place, but it is a very old motel, not a resort Hotel like I had hoped. Place is busy, maids loud yelling down the hallway and playing their music while I was exhausted from escaping fires from Oregon. I just needed peace and quiet to sleep. Didnt happen. Their cart has super loud metal wheels and they roll it back and forth and upstairs and downstairs back and forth. The rooms are very old with new paint, very dilapidated worn out bathtub thats spray painted and dirt in cracks and peeling dirty caulking. Beds very hard, woke up with sore neck and back:-( . The air condition works but has broken pieces on it and is an eyesore they tried to hide by placing a chair in front of it and an cardboard hand written sign. Tacky. The website shows dog friendly but the doggie area is 2 buildings away and my poor little dog cant make it that distance. Its a pretty area though. One or two guests let their dogs run off leash and so theres poop left on the lawn. No restaurant. No room service. Hot tubs closed. Rooms are otherwise clean and well maintained for such an old motel. There is a microwave, iron & board and a small fridge. Flat screen works with remote. Rooms spacious enough. Lots of storage and counter area. Overall okay. Glad its dog friendly. I have a pitbull. So very grateful and appreciative there are no. Breed restrictions. Pool looks nice. Bocce ball and lots of benches around.

So I stay in a lot of hotels and I stayed at the Sandman about 10 years ago but boy, have things changed!During a bathroom remodel I was ousted from my home for a few weeks and found a second home at The Sandman-What a pleasant surprise!I dont think that it could have gone any easier unless my grandma were here cooking me three Square meals a day (J/K-My grandma was a horrible cook) BUT...I have to give a shout out to Alex at the front desk because he was helpful and kind and always had a pleasant word to say-Alex, you are ACES!Really I could go on and on about this place but I hope the pictures do speak for themselves and I will definitely 100% be back. For a simple place to stay this hotel is GREAT with its cute decor, clean rooms, helpful and kind staff and affordable price point. I only have one issue and that is that there are blinds but no curtains to go along with the blinds in the rooms, so the heavily lit parking lot light spills into the room even with the shades drawn. I would stay again but will be sure to bring an eye mask next time to ensure a better night sleep.

As seniors, we are usual Motel 6 types. The Sandman was a very nice change though pretty pricey for us. Loved the cleanliness, the aesthetics and the atmosphere--and the breakfast yogurt, granola and eggs were super.However, I felt we had paid for a lot of features that we couldnt take advantage of. Also, I was looking forward to the comfort of the king-size bed. Unfortunately, the memory foam locked me in and I was unable to turn all night, which reduced my delight a bit.

The whole deal for 1 night including taxes was $132.The rooms are newly remodeled and the beds were comfortable. The boutique soaps in the shower were great. They should sell the body wash and shampoo/ conditioner onsite...The pool and spa were also good. The bar onsite is only open Friday-Sunday certain hours and there was no breakfast offered at this time but Im still very happy with the stay. It was central to all the wineries we visited.

Late night staff was the bomb! Thursday 3:30am December 12,to be exact! Just as kind as could be. Hooked up all the dates and room nights I booked from my app. We missed all the free breakfast but my brother said it looked like they had the waffle maker. Very, very clean rooms. Only complaint would be that the housekeeping staff BE QUIET! OMG BE QUIET!!!! FOR THE LOVE OF... BE QUIET!!!! People sleep in. Especially when you arrive at 3 in the morning. Unfortunately this is simply a cheap motor inn with a coat of pink paint. The rooms are barely redone. Notably the bathrooms are exactly as they likely were before. Cheap plastic tubs, drab lighting, dirty old shower heads and rough towels smelling of dollar store plastic. Our room had no soap, which to remedy, would have required someone to come a fill the wall mounted pump. Not exactly great at 8:00 am.Furthermore walls are still thin and you can easily hear your neighbors television, door slamming and coughs.Check in is at 4pm which is pretty annoying if youre attending a wine tasting, wedding, etc. This was attributed to a noon check out, but if one wanted to stay and utilize the amenities of the pool - it doesnt open until 2 pm. I havent stayed in a motel since my younger more frugal years. I would suggest the Sandman Hotel is more of a motel than a traditional hotel with a lobby entrance and elevators. I booked this in conjunction with an event the wife and I were attending. Ended up being too tired to drive back home after a day at the beach, so grabbed a room at the Sandman. The place is newly remodeled/redecorated and its lovely. A real retro vibe. New carpet and fresh paint in the room. New furnishings and fixtures as well. The bed was firm, which I prefer. The pillows were nice and fluffy. The provided shampoos soaps and lotions all smelled great. For all the thought and effort that went in to the room renovation the tub in the bathroom had seen better days. It was a bit stained and chipped. Breakfast was standard cereal, waffles, bagels (no cream cheese?) muffins, etc. The breakfast room was a bit chaotic and poorly laid out, but staff was friendly and freuqently refilling all the items. First time staying here, they offer pet friendly rooms so we booked a room. The rooms were as my husband would say, they put lipstick on a pig. Maybe it was just the pet friendly rooms that were like that only, I did not get to see the regular rooms. My dog travels everywhere with us and we have never had an issue with him, but he did not like this place at all, he would just start barking for no reason when we were in the room or in the grassy area in the back, I have never had him do this before. He definitely sensed something while he was there. The dog park is the nicest feature they have there, nice and green with seating. Theyve recently remodeled this hotel and its retro cute. The pool area looks nice. The room look decently clean, but we found a quarter sized wolf spider IN the sheets. After shaking out the blankets we found the bed quite hard and the pillows to be VERY large hard cushions... not what Id call a comfortable place to lay my head. I woke up sore and in pain.Front desk basically shrugged their shoulders when we told them about the spider. I wasnt looking for money back, but it would have been nice if they said something like Ill ask housekeeping to do a deep clean on that room...or something.Despite everything Is stay here again if I needed a place in Santa Rosa, Id just make sure to bring my own pillow . Great older motel, trustworthy, stable and above satisfactory. No problems with reservations, check-in rooms or services. I was here in AUG 2015, had two rooms. From the 1959 Eisenhower era architecture and the sleepy boy illuminated signs I thought I was in for an adventure. I was surprised by the staff and then the rooms.I checked in late, making jokes, looking road tired and unkempt. They were professional and swift. They knew the routine, the facility and got it done.The rooms were spotless, well painted, dusted, quiet. No stink, or hint of something. Neutral air. As always, I lifted one side the mattress nearly to the ceiling and checked for critters and hidden monsters. None found, and was very clean, not a dead bug or roll of lint. I moved the furniture around because I need it set a weird way (yes I put it back). When you move furniture, big furniture, you can see if they clean behind and under it and they did. Didnt miss anything. Even tops of picture frames.These are older rooms and you can see that in the design, but they have been maintained well, updating as needed. Maybe this was a mess 10 years ago, I have no idea, but today the rooms are great.The shower heads have the required height update. Many older and even some newer rooms of other hotels have the lower portion of the shower heads at 5 feet. This is crazy for us 6 foot + guys. People under 5 feet can still use an 8 foot shower head, but a full height human can not use a 5 foot head. They just installed an S tube to raise the shower head to about 7 feet and about 13 inches from the shower wall. This alone is worth the money for the room.Pillows were good, firm, bed spread updated from that poly plastic faux embroidered moving pad a lot of motels burden their guests with. Instead they had light, airy linens, all fresh and bleachy white.Air Conditioning is spot on. For us who live in areas with 120 degree summers, you know good air conditioning. This unit cranked down to 50 and did not freeze up. A lot of hotels are installing motion type detectors on air conditioning systems now, so if you dont move, your cold or heat stops. This place has NOT added that awful device. It ran constantly. Another star.Wireless data was available and worked well enough for HBO GO and YouTube. Door locks worked, free breakfast was acceptable, cold items cold and hot items steamy. Parking ample, check out was easy. As I said I got two rooms and went though both. They were in different buildings, one ground floor, one second floor and they were both excellent. Also the walk up the stairs and clomping around in my heavy military boots didnt shake the floor or cause impact tremors. Solid foundation. Could not hear my neighbors. Couldnt ask for a better stay.

DONT BELIEVE THE REVIEWS. THIS IS A MOTEL 6!The Sandman is an utterly shabby, poorly maintained, overpriced motel that has the look and feel of a Motel 6. Dark and dingy rooms with non-matching lamps that look like they came from a flea market, loud air conditioning, creepy carpeting, a tiny bathroom. The breakfast room is incredibly cramped and is poorly serviced; it has 4 tables to service the facilitys 142 rooms. I am a frequent traveler and I question the validity of all of the positive ratings this hotel gets. It is certainly not a 3 star facility which is its rating on Expedia. 1.5 stars, maybe. This was one of the most unpleasant hotel stays I have every had.

My fiancé noticed it smelled bad as soon as we got in room. We couldn’t figure out from where the smell came from. At one point while picking up my 9 month olds toys from floor I looked under bed, and there it was, dog feces.We had no body wash, shampoo, or conditioner. We booked a room in February for our niece’s wedding in July. Because of C-19, the wedding reception is postponed. We thought the money is gone since we booked the hotel through a travel company with no refund. I talked the front desk manager, hoping to get a credit for future use. To my surprise, he said the hotel will give a full refund instead of giving a credit. He cancelled the reservation and told me to call the travel company to get the money back. I followed his instruction and called the travel company. They called the hotel, got a cancellation confirmation and a refund was issued immediately. Positive and negative feelings about this place. We had a work trip and stayed here this past week. The room was clean and amenities were filled. The best part about this place was how comfortable the bed felt. I slept amazingly and would love to sleep here again. My two largest complaints would have to be wifi and the breakfast. I had major complications with a few of my items that I normally connect to hotel wifi. It wasnt working and was inconsistent on my devices. MORE IMPORTANTLY, the breakfast was sadly pathetic. It was free and is what it Is I guess BUT the best western around the corner had a 5star breakfast compared to this place. It is a nice, cheap, last second stop for a busy trip. Rooms were in short supply in the area and Chris offered his only available apartment a pet friendly room. Meant no wall to wall carpeting, our preference anyway. Wine tour and great food is what brought us here and Chris the general manager and awesome person is charming friendly and best of all could be a.tour guide. The pool is above average, pretty decent for swimming laps if that is your thing. It is not like an Olympic pool but much better than what the chains deliver. They did a food truck while we were there that was okay. Really this is what you make it. If you are used to Marriotts and Hiltons you will probably be a little disappointed. However, the prices are also better.

We enjoyed our stay at Sandman Inn. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were spacious and clean and the grounds were maintained and well kept. We learned that the Inn had recently completed an extensive remodel. The pool area is one of the highlights. Complete with a small lounge and bar. We would defiantly stay here again.

My stay at the Sandman was amazing! The decor was sleek and modern, the room was spacious and very clean. There was a kitchenette, which included a mini fridge and microwave. The bed was very comfy with plenty of pillows. The TV was a large flat screen, with plenty of channels including both HBOs. For the guests convenience, there was also a small safe to keep valuables, an iron and full size ironing board, and a blow-dryer. The bathroom included a shower/tub combo, and unlike most hotels, whom are steering away from offering complimentary shampoo/soap, the Sandman has a wall dispenser with body wash, shampoo and conditioner, all by Malin + Goetz. Even though it was quite hot during my stay, the heating/cooling unit in the room worked very well. The property itself is beautiful, with a large heated pool with adult size inflatables, a hot tub, and a staff manned poolside bar. There is a large grassy area, perfect for your 4 legged friend(s), to whom the staff is very welcoming, going as far as putting your pooches name on a sign in the lobby and offering to photograph your pet next to it. The breakfast is also outstanding. They served cereal, milk, oatmeal, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, toast, hard boiled eggs,( and my personal favorite, the make it yourself waffles!) coffee, tea, hot chocolate, orange and cranberry juice. And last, but definitely in need of mention is the helpful, friendly staff! I give the Sandman an 11 out of 10, and with the more than reasonable rates,(approx. $130-150/night), Ill never stay anywhere else again!

This place is a joke. Paid $240.00 plus tax for a night. Pool was closed early so the kids couldnt swim....the rooms are clean but have the look and feel of a very old (m)otel....the cleaning lady was banging her cart on the wall our heads were on repeatedly ....& the breakfast was pathetic. Plan ahead!!! Dont stay here unless its one of your last choices. I would have been happier if they charged about $140.00...which is all its worth for what you get.

Cant say enough good things about this place! Staff is always amazing and they went above and beyond to help us. Got myself in a situation with a uhaul and trailer, the maintenance man came out and helped me get it out and set up the chains better than uhaul did so they werent dragging. This was back on Thanksgiving Day during a trip from hell. Ive stayed here multiple times now and would recommend. Dog friendly as well!

I liked this clean and well maintained hotel. They have lots of parking and a really nice pool area for families and a nice area for adults to hang out too. Its conveniently located near the highway for easy on/off and get on your way kinda place. Also nearby food establishments so you have a variety of places to choose from. I stayed one night. Left my shirts hanging in the room. They called within an hour or so to let me know. I sent a prepaid UPS label, they boxed up the shirts and sent them to me the next day. Great people and honest. Highly recommend this hotel.

Everything about the Sandman Inn was great; its right next to a 25 hour diner, minutes away from Trader Joes and 7-11, has (good) free internet, and an awesome free breakfast. It was just ok. Better than paying Napa prices, but as the old adage goes, you pay for what you get. This place has been given a coat of paint (even the bath tub has been painted to try and disguise its age and wear) but it does nothing much to help with the tired and under maintained feel. At the price paid they must be able to afford a little TLC, but it seems they dont need to. It served our purposes of saving money for wine and was at least clean.

The room keys and doors did not work. The have no other facilities you can use outside of the room which are inaccessible. The key coding system is definitely broken, they have no one who can assist you at the door and there is a good chance the fault in the system that locks you out allows others in. The hotel is a motel and it feels incredibly unsafe and I Would not leave anything here unattended.

Ever heard of the phrase lipstick on a pig? This is the first thing that came to mind after staying here for 2 nights. It is essentially a motel dressed up to attract hipster millennials, BUT dont be fooled as it is a motel. Stains on carpet, stains on sheets, could see the outside from inside the room, a lot of TV channels were not working, and it is SO loud if you have people in an adjoining room that are talking louder than normal or getting up or coming later than you. Not the worst place I have stayed, but would only stay again if nothing else was available. I will say the staff was great and very accommodating.

Great for people with dogs. Its not the most convenient location in Santa Rosa, but its clean, has reasonable rates, and the staff were friendly.The continental breakfast was well maintained (but plain, as they usually are), and the hot tub pool area are nice, but my standout was that they have a little dog park on the property that includes poop bags. If youre traveling with a dog this is a great place to stay.

Its a nice little remodeled classic Motel on Highway 101. I suppose they call them Boutique motels now. Theres no desk in the rooms to do any work or even a table. Upon check in i asked for a ground floor room since they have NO ELEVATORS!!! i was told id get a ground floor room but since there were no more queen bed rooms which is what i paid for, theyd give me a king bed room with NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. 2 days after i checked out i saw a $28. and change fee charged to my credit card. i called. the phone answerer stated it was an upgrade fee. he took it off when i threw a fit and threatened to get a lawyer; yes, over $28, yes, indeed. when i turned on the microwave, the tv would go off. i mean i couldnt have the tv & the microwave on at the same time; it would cause the tv to b inoperable. as if i was in some really poorly provided for area of some 3rd world country. but i was in Sonoma County USA.....FIX YOUR CRUMMY ELECTRICAL WIRING, OMG!!! in addition to that, the tv only had about 50 channels- the super-saver pack for extra cheap hoteliers from dish network- so sleezy, just pay for cable plus HBO, jeez.... there were no washcloths, just bath & hand towels. only 1 packet of coffee & 1 of decaf- wouldnt want to be too generous w the coffee now. would we? the window has huge slat horizontal wooden blinds that are also a way to save money as blinds are the cheapest window covering option besides shades. everyone knows that & it makes the corp that owns it look mighty cheap. the blinds were so heavy that i could barely pull the string to raise them..,please stop trying to out-do Scrooge himself & buy some black out curtains. Wish I could leave 0 stars!! Shower would not drain and was backed up with hair clumps and God knows what else. Then go to a new room and the sheets are stained. Finally to top the nightmare off my last night there and they decided to double charge my card. After confronting them at the front desk they would not help, refused to allow me to speak with a manager and threatened to escort me off the property! Dont bother staying here. Booked the room on the way into town and prepaid for it. Once I got to the hotel I was informed they changed a $50 deposit. I refused to pay the deposit and offered to leave my card on file. Apparently the sandman is too good for that level of trust. Ended up not staying here and was never refunded the cost of the room. They used the excuse that I didnt cancel the reservation 24 hours in advance so that was the cost. Never again will I trust a sandman hotel! Absolutely rude customer service at the desk!

And I was told a set rate then when I paid the was an additional 65 dollars then the fact when I came back from the pool my room door was open my aunt had left my purse in my room and I came to find out later that $120 dollars was missing out of her purse.

We stood outside the office and it took 20+ minutes for the previous guest to check in before we could use our reservation. Room was clean but there was rust on some closet fittings. WiFi was good.
