Just an average hotel. Dont let its appearance or location fool you. Yes it has great weather and sunsets. But there is NO beach within walking distance. You have to drive to go to the beach. Beware: they charge $40 a night for parking. Yep, but they dont tell you that when booking a room. The rooms are sub par. Felt like a beach motel on Catalina. And dont touch or use anything in the room it comes with a price. The only thing good about this hotel is the restaurant across the parking lot. Great atmosphere and the food is superb! We will not being going back.

Discovering The Portofino Hotel & Marina was like finding a hidden gem nestled along the serene shores of Redondo Beach. From the moment we arrived, the tranquil peninsula setting and stunning oceanfront views made us feel as though we had entered a seaside sanctuary. The warm and attentive service provided an authentic Southern California experience that we will cherish forever. We never wanted to leave.

Beautiful hotel, nice lobby, cool self serve wine taps. However, my room had bed bugs. Shocking for a place that looked so clean. I immediately told the front desk and they moved me to a different room and said they would send engineers to fumigate. I appreciate their swift action but was still uncomfortable. Tons of Seals also live outside, so it’s very loud with all their barking as long as you don’t mind that. Though they did not offer me a refund, the staff at the front desk was very apologetic and kind. Parking was also simple outside. Definitely beats staying in Long Beach if you’re there for work.

I was in LA for a few days on business. This hotel is incredible! Charming building from the lobby to the rooms, nice amenities, a beautiful view, and really thoughtful and considerate staff. I have never been to a hotel where the valet runs to your Uber to open your door and welcome you but they do here. Friendly smiles from every staff member. The food was great, the room was really clean and comfortable. It’s got an upscale homey feel and is close to so many things while feeling like it’s tucked away on a private cove. You can watch seals and other aquatic life from balconies facing the water, gorgeous sunsets, and calm misty mornings. I’m very grateful to the staff for helping make this trip comfortable and easy for me. I’ll definitely be back!

The people at the front desk were very nice and helpful. The two stars for service is related to the following: We ended up having a big issue with. @zybra which is a third-party bike rental app. The hotel says that you get a free hour of bike riding. That is actually not true. You get $10 toward a bike rental, but the fee is doubled for electric bikes and they don’t tell you that. Also, the Zybra app is very tricky and the bikes don’t come out easily. Since the hotel isn’t affiliated with Zybra they can’t help you. We ended up getting charged an EXTRA 55 dollars for a hour bike rental. The other challenge is the workout room. It is a very small room with limited free weights - For example, they don’t have any 10 pound weights - and at one point there were six people in there all on top of each other and not enough weights for everybody.

We lived in Redondo Beach for 10 years, coming back for a visit for the first time in a few years, we thought wed stay at what we thought was a nice hotel, the Portofino. We stayed for 2 nights. Coming back for our last night, we found our bed full of ants! We had to be up at 5:30am the next morning to catch our flight, so we were a bit upset wed get no sleep. The front desk apologized over and over, having to move us after 11pm to a different room, stating management would call us and comp us. THEY NEVER DID. Another thing, you have to pay $40/night to park your car in the hotel parking lot - Ridiculous! Well never stay here again. Disgusting and dirty!

Great location, great food, we had a delightful morning sitting at the patio eating breakfast, watching the ocean and listening to the seal’s singing.However, the rooms definitely need maintenance. We’ve spotted 6 ants in the bathtub, and 2 on the bedroom wall. There are corners that obviously need a fix and I’m guessing that’s where ants are coming from.

The staff is incredibly nice and professional. The building and rooms have seen better days. The gym sucks. There are two Pelotons, one without a subscription to the service. Most mornings there were 4 to 6 of us fighting over equipment and space. The walls are thin and the place is noisy. Bring your earplugs if you need them.

What can I say about this place? I can say “luxury”, “comfort”, “friendly”…but those word would not be enough. I am truly loving my balcony with the view of the ocean. The seals are chillin’ on their barge singing off key. The seagulls are flying and the ducks are swimming. This is a very relaxing location and it doesn’t smell like fish.

A nice location, but … very poor guest experience. Things started to go wrong the moment we arrived at the hotel - with inattentive valet service, followed by unwelcoming reception - who told us we should have read ‘the website’ when we questioned the $40 per night extra dollar parking fee at the hotel - although as the receptionist said ‘there are some packages that include parking’, so read the small print on the website lol. We were not told anything about the hotel facilities at check in either, only given our room key & left to ourselves to carry our bags & make our own way to the room without any description of facilities or amenities On a positive note, the room was nice & bed was comfortable but the guest fridge had no mini bar & a bottle of water was $7 (!). To add insult to injury when we returned to our room after a full day out our room had not been made up or attended too & we had to request clean towels & bed service… There are plenty of good hotels in the area. This is not one of them.

I love the calm peacefulness of this hotel. It has rooms with water views, steps to the Baleen kitchen, and an in hotel bar with some small food options. Pool and hot tub, small gym, and the friendliest staff.Beware the rooms with two beds were full size and not queens.

Beautiful hotel, good location, walking distance to the beach. Having restaurant is a big plus, we enjoyed breakfast with the view of Marina. It’s a big plus to have biking, kayaking and paddle boarding on site, unfortunately we ran out of time but definitely next time. Redando beach has beautiful biking path to all other beaches. View was beautiful, watching sail boats passing by, kayaking, and many more. Inside hotel was clean and beautifully decorated!

I love this hotel! The decor is coastal luxury without feeling stuffy. The bed was THE most comfortable bed Ive ever slept on. My friend and I were both amazed about that. The food is delicious too. The California Burrito for brunch is incredible. Everything is just really great quality.The BEST BEST thing about this hotel is the service we got from Chelsea the Front Desk Manager. She quickly took care of any issues with a genuine smile and made our stay so incredible and easy!A great place for a staycation. Ill definitely be staying again!

Where do I begin?!! The Portofino Hotel & Marina was INCREDIBLE!!!!!! We used this venue for our Wedding. From day one all the way to today, a few days after the wedding, all the staff we encountered has been excellent!! Specifically I want to give a shout out to Sierra, Rain, Luis, Paco, & Mac. Sierra was my main hotel wedding coordinator and contact. She was so responsive, attentive, organized, sweet, available, and amazing!! I couldn’t be happier with her and her services. The entire experience was seamless. We planned an entire wedding in under 2 months together as I was eager to marry my man this year. She was so helpful and explained any and all things when I had questions. Starting with booking the venue all the way to the day after the wedding. Everything was so organized, including the deadlines of decisions I needed to make, and payment info, and what to do if it rained. She had everything covered. THANK YOU THANK YOU SIERRA!! Rain was also another venue coordinator & catering sales manager who helped us too and he was amazing as well. He stepped in when/if Sierra was out of the office and he attended our tasting and answered so many questions as well. He was so nice, sweet and great to work with. Very organized and never missed a beat! Thank you Rain!! Luis, the director of Banquets, handled anything food and drink related and everything was perfect. He even placed two of each hors d’oeuvres at our sweetheart table (knowing we probably wouldn’t get a chance to eat them during cocktail hour as we were busy mingling) and he was right!! It was such a sweet, simple gesture that made a big impression on us. Paco was one of the Bartenders from the day of (I never got a chance to meet our other bartender) and he was so fun and cheerful and positive and an overall great spirit. Guests kept telling me how much they loved Paco and me too! Mac worked on the hotel side and we met him when we checked in and he handled ALL our luggage and he also golf carted me around on the actual wedding day so I didn’t have to walk too much. He was super sweet and was so helpful and had a great vibe! Also, my initial point of contact was Melanie who responded to my initial venue request. She was so great and helpful and responsive that right away we were sold and we booked the venue the next day without ever even seeing it in person.On top of all the AMAZING staff, the venue is just absolutely beautiful!! You can’t find a prettier ocean front venue in the So Cal. Just gorgeous. We chose a type of all-inclusive wedding package that included a sit down 3-course dinner, open bar, ceremony, hotel room, wedding cake, and many more perks such as white linen, candles on each table, arch on the ceremony grass, champagne toast, etc. It was perfect, efficient, organized and made my life so easy. I really didn’t have to do much except invite guests and show up!! many of my guests told me afterward they were so impressed with the staff, venue and the food!!! Seriously, the food was excellent. I know all of this sounds too good to be true but honestly it was. I had zero problems, no horror stories, nothing. It truly was a PERFECT day. I also found out afterward that a coworker of mine got married here too this past summer and she said the same thing. Her day was perfect as well and I am not surprised at all. Thank you to everyone at the Porotfino! We cant wait to come back just to enjoy the restaurant, the views and the excellent service 😊

I had the most wonderful experience at this hotel. Chelsea, the manager there, made my stay more than incredible. I was traveling for work and staying alone, she made me feel safe, welcomed, and celebrated. I highly recommend this hotel and Chelsea to anyone staying the area. I don’t write reviews often but because of how amazing the staff and management is here, I felt I had to. Not to mention the obviously beautiful views to boot.

My wife stayed here a couple nights as a retreat, to get away from a stressful living situation. Lets just say we paid both nights, but didnt even stay the second night, even though the prices/night was more expensive than what we paid for in Maldives. She got a room with a view of the marina/ocean, but it was blocked by a wall. Party boats going in and out all day, so it was loud. Staff was not apologetic and did not offer any type of service for the poor experience. The ground floor rooms should be offered at a lot lower price, or come with some kind of warning that youre pretty better off at a Motel 6.

Leilani and Adrianna at the front desk were cheerful and so eager to help with any of our needs. The room was on the 3rd floor, SE corner so we had a view of the marina and the pool/hot tub/ocean. The room was bright and very clean and we appreciated the hotel robes/pool towels waiting for us making it effortless to enjoy the hot tub on a sunny day in early April. The lobby is beautiful and inviting. We stayed on a Sunday evening, and would have given the lounge our patronage (vs an area restaurant) but it was not open. There was a miscommunication about having lunch on site the next day (was informed it was take out only) but staff quickly apologized when it was realized that they conveyed the take out only times in error. Many local shops and restaurants within walking distance and it was a very charming town. They held my bag until I left for an after dinner flight, which was a great service. We would definitely stay here again, and will encourage others to do so as well. I would keep the water stocked in the lobby (it was empty a good part of the time on our first day) and contemplate having staff in the lounge seven days a week-even in off season.

Stayed here three nights for a business trip. The location is really nice but the rooms are on the dark side. I had a marina view room on the ground floor, its more of a parking lot view than a marina view.The breakfast menu at the restaurant was excellent but when youre on a business trip and want something quick because you have an early meeting not ideal, certainly that the restaurant opens at 7am.Overall the staff were friendly, the location is nice you can walk to loads of restaurants nearby for dinner, the rooms were clean but just a bit on the dark side for my liking and missing an arm chair, just a chair at a desk. It didnt make me want to stay in the room for long periods of time, just use it to sleep. The living room area with the fire place was nice to chill.

Oh HONEY if you are planning to stay out this way, you have to plan to stay at the Portofino Hotel. From start to finish, my best friend and I had a grand time. Immediately upon checking in we were greeted by Craig who was so fun and professional, and after we had gotten settled in our room we met Chelsea who is simply such a queen. What should you do on your vacation in LA when youre from New Hampshire and youve never been in the area? I simply dont know. But Chelsea sure does. From incredible eats to fun bars and exciting beaches, there is no secret about the area that Miss Maam cannot tell. Not to mention that Chelsea is REALLY funny and personable. Oh, but youve had a crazy fun day and youre schlepping back to your hotel room to get a little relaxation? If you find yourself #blessed enough, Elisa will be working the front desk and will be SO excited to see ya. Every night we came back Elisa would ask us if we were having fun and would make sure we got whatever we needed from extra towels to other amenities. If Elisa has one million fans, I am one of them. If she has one fan, it is me. If she has no fans, then girls I am dead. Elisa? Queen. QUEEN BEHAVIOR. This Hotel Staff is truly like hanging out with the girlies back home, and I could not have had a better time. Upon returning to NH, my bestie and I already started talking about when we could come all the way back out to LA *just* to stay at the Portofino to see Chelsea, Craig, and Elisa. Its giving family. Its giving chefs kiss. Its giving some of the best hospitality in the country. In summary: if youre trying to have slay boots old time you gotta go the Portofino. In fact, if you dont go to the Portofino, you have only lived half a life.

I loved that there was water on each side of the hotel. It was an over cast day, so we enjoyed the spa. In the spa area a opossum walked by, which was cute! I lo ed hearing and seeing the seals and other wild life.We were placed on the Marina side, which did not explain that the floor level was a view of the parking lot. The bath was full of sand. The birds in the tree near our room squaked all night long. It was cute at first, but they were super loud all night long. I had to shut the door.

The lure of this place is location. Is quiet. Rooms and upkeep are excellent. Walk to food and drinks is easy. Parking was easy and an extra fee (I knew that when booking, but as a midwesterner I do groan about paying for it). There is a resort fee, no surprise, it is mentioned on web site.

Let’s just say, this was the hotel my friend got as a “hidden deal” on a third party site, and that was way too much - full price rate would have just been comical. Paid a pricey sum for a suite that was tiny. Supposedly renovated recently but the entire property and room in particular feels dated and worn. Resort fee feels like poor value, especially considering there are not even towels at the pool. Parking is stupid expensive - told the desk I was returning my car a day early and they acknowledged and made a note, then charged me anyway.The highlight has to be the sofa bed which was, and I cannot stress this enough, the absolute most unholy surface I have ever had the displeasure of sleeping on. Sag towards the middle that can’t be overexaggerated, you feel more metal bars than cushion, and a particularly sharp metal bar is located right by your face on the right side. Worse than I ever could have imagined.2 stars for location - views from the water side rooms are definitely great, and I love redondo it’s a quieter more lowkey beach city.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It has a wonderful atmosphere, the rooms are cozy and our little balcony looked out over the water. Im sorry that some reviewers complained about the sea lions barking (& sometimes arguing haha) WE LOVED IT! Our room looked out over them and it was so nice having my drinks on the balcony watching them. So close to everything. I would definitely stay here again!

I came, I saw…I ran away ! We arrived as a family after a five hours drive. No one helped us with our heavy luggage. Craig, a nasty little man (I am trying to stay polite) at the reception gives us two rooms on the first floor. Rooms smelled like smoke, didn’t look very clean and the pseudo dirty little terraces they advertise are overlooking the parking and the valet. People pass by in front of your room constantly and you hear the constant noise of cars pulling in and out.We asked to changed rooms but no effort was made to try to help us (we had to insist to get a room with two beds for our kids). We were disgusted and just left at 8pm to look for an other place. And I am sure glad we did. Don’t believe the pictures on their site that show you a beautiful view in the marina or the positive reviews that are most likely fakes. Awful ! You don’t come all the way to the LA beach area to stay in some dirty dorms managed by some unpleasant staff ! There is much better all around. Oh yes, needless to say that it’s also definitely overpriced !

Love this hotel thats situated right on the water❤️❤️❤️❤️ Our 1st floor room faced the water👍While it was a great view, the 1st floor has a significant breakwater wall that blocks part of the view. Lovely captains chairs on the patio provided a very nice view. Our room was across the hall from the gym, which made for a noisy corridor. The room itself was clean and very nicely appointed. Would definitely come back😍😍😍😍

The location is nice, the staff is friendly and overall we had a great experience.A couple of complaints though. They charge crazy amount of fees and expensive parking on the property even though the parking lot is empty.The WiFi internet is too slow, and it doesn’t help that cellular network was not great in the region in either.

We had a very nice stay here. My wife and kids raved about the breakfast in the restaurant and I thought the staff was friendly and room was clean. Great location by the marina and within walking distance to several restaurants. We had an ocean view which was quite nice. This is also the endpoint of the famous Cannonball sea to sea road race, so lots of cool history. My favorite thing to do was come down to the lobby seating area by the windows and get morning coffee and enjoy the view.

Beautiful little tucked away hotel in the Redondo Beach marina. Highly recommend reserving the 1st floor rooms with the 2 person jacuzzi tub looking out into the ocean. Waking up to the seals barking in the morning is a bit surreal.

Twice I paid them and twice they added fee upon fee when I paid.Twice I tried booking with them, and the customer service was below par.When I arrived, they added a $32 parking fee that they didnt tell me when I originally booked. We agreed to a price, and they didnt honor it.I ordered room service. They wanted me to sign and add a tip to an unitemized bill before looking at the itemization. The bill was 50% over what it should be. There was a surprise 33% room service fee and 20% mandatory tip. They wanted me to tip on the 50% marked up price, which included a tip, without me knowing. The menu advertised 1 price, and they did not honor it.Check out was at 11AM. Cleaning staff came into our room at 9:15AM saying we already checked out, which simply wasnt true.It was a nice room with a great view.Their service was poor. Their pricing is dishonest.

Couldn’t open sliding door due to smoke from another balcony Got locked out of my room 3rd day. Bathroom is lacking in lighting. The shower curtain was useless water all over floor. Towels are limited. They call that a rain shower head? Seriously.Make sure you have door dash. I was there for a work trip and left a dress in the closet. I called several times and kept getting sent to a voice-mail for the house keeping. Finally I asked the front desk on my 4th call to write down my name and number and call me if they find my dress. No call! I guess Im out a dress but dont understand how they dont have it. I don’t ever leave reviews but I felt this place deserved it. I want to give a special shout-out to Leilani from the front desk for accommodating my family and I’s stay. We were on a staycation and wanted to get away from DTLA for the weekend and I was really blown away with how well and clean the hotel room we were in was, it was spacious for all 4 of us. Now, Leilani went above and beyond for us as she did all that she could to make sure that we were taken care of throughout our stay and I’m truly grateful for her and the rest of the staff like housekeeping for really being on top of everything! It’s a gem of a hotel that I think a lot of LA residents (at least speaking for myself) don’t know about but should definitely check out.

The rooms are very small for the price you pay and no special amenities offer. Spend the night here day prior to our wedding event at Portofino Hotel and I was expecting a better luxurious experience for the price we paid. The ocean view is mostly breakwater rocks and harbor. The hallways smell like smoke a lot which is not cool when booked for non-smoking room. This place has a lot of potential but has yet to reach it. Jesus Loves You!!!

The pics are deceiving, this hotel is in a deserted area next to several abandoned businesses. The lobby and lounge are small. The phones in the rooms weren’t working so I used my cell to order dinner from room service, but no one answered! The front desk said to keep trying every 15 minutes. Same for breakfast the next day, tho I did get my toast & coffee 45 minutes later, cold. After that I ordered Uber Eats for my meals. My room wasn’t cleaned until 4pm, except on checkout day when they knocked on my door at 10:45am. Unfortunately I screwed up & left my leather jacket in the room closet, the next day they said they found it, but since then no communication or info on how to get it mailed back. I emailed the manager, no response. Stay somewhere else, this place is struggling.

This a a cozy yet modern hotel that is close to lots of popular beaches in the LA area.Weve stayed here a few times now and Chelsea at the front desk always goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome. THIS IS A REVIEW ONLY ABOUT THEIR WEDDING EVENT OFFERINGSMy fiancee reached out to the hotel regarding having our wedding ceremony and reception there. We met with what I presume is their Event Planner person. Some of our family came along, so we could get their opinion as well. The Planner seemed to initially mislead us on the pricing, because all of us recalled her saying the per person price accounted for everything. No mention of separate ceremony and reception room fees (which makes sense to us now). So, when we received a price estimate for a wedding package, it was much higher than the approximate calculations we previously did during our visit. We brushed it off as a misunderstanding on our part.A few weeks later we met with the Planner again, to try to bring the price down. She mentioned the possibility of doing a day time wedding, which would be about $3000 cheaper. We liked the idea, and provided updated information to the Planner. She calculated an approximate total cost and we liked what we saw. She said she would send us an official updated estimate in email. My fiancee said the Planner said she would send it over the weekend, but she never did. Finally, the following weekend my fiancee emailed the Planner asking for an update, to which the Planner replied that she was going to call my fiancee but realized she didnt have her number. My fiancee nevertheless gave her phone number, and the Planner didnt call her that day.A week or so later, the Planner gets back to my fiancee, informing her that the Director said they wont allow us to do a day time wedding on the day we want (a weekday), because they have businesses at the hotel during the week days. This was not listed on the pamphlet for the wedding package offerings, and the Planner didnt mention such a restriction either.Needless to say, we decided to not have our wedding at the Portofino Hotel. Their customer service was horrible and they were unprofessional in their lack of effective and timely communication. Such behavior is extremely disappointing, especially since it has to do with such a very important and special day, the planning of which is already stressful enough. A few things to keep in mind before you spend $500+/night.- AC stopped working every night in the middle of the night- The hotel bar was closed during a busy Friday and Saturday because of lack of staff- Although the food at the restaurant is excellent, be prepared to wait at least an hour from the time you order to the time you receive your food- The pool is abysmal. We had our wedding reception hosted here at the seaside lawn. Our coordinator was Chris and he was phenomenal. All the staff was very friendly, hard-working and made our reception a dream come true. Chris and his team worked tirelessly to get everything right including the decorations. the food was delicious and there was no complaints. Everything ran smoothly and timely. The reception was nice but we were invited to a meet and greet brunch the following morning in the hotel which was less impressive. First, the hotel was not willing to accommodate the party in the restaurant for a brunch so we had to meet basically in the lobby, and then they refused parking to the guests even though the hosts had spent all that money on the reception the previous evening. Very poor customer service, IMHO. There was parking available and they could easily have accommodated us. Instead they suggested using Joes Crab Shack parking next door. We just left and had to miss the meet and greet.

Dont do it!! The staff was very nice, but for the price this hotel charges, I expected much more than smiling faces. The room had ants (bathroom, carpet, and yes, in the beds too). The air conditioner just limped along (very noisy and useless). The lighting in the bathroom was so dim I had to use my phone flashlight. The coffee pot is a TINY pod type that you have to take a cup to the bathroom, fill with water (if you can get the cup under it, since it is one of those small designer sinks) and try to pour into the pot without spilling everywhere, and the coffee was lousy and inadequate. But no choice since there is no other option for coffee unless you can drive to a coffee shop. They dont clean the room daily, unless you ask. WHAT? The drains (tub and sink both) were so slow that you didnt need to choose between a shower or bath, it was both. The phone and clock did not work. I know people dont use them much so remove them. The room off the lobby is beautiful, so we tried to gather there (we had a large group). But there is no way to simply get water, even though they have a kitchenette in there. The staff told me we had to go get our room glasses, then go get ice at the machine, and go fill with water at the fitness center. No pitcher, no caraffe, no glasses or ice available there. So essentially, running all over the hotel...with glasses of water. This is completely rediculous! I would advise the management, for the cost of this hotel, you need to put water, coffee and hot water for the guests in the lobby. Even the cheap hotels do this. The Baleen is lovely, but pricey and not open 24/7, and I think they would frown on a group of people just gathering and getting water, just so they could visit. The ONLY redeeming part of the entire facility is the event center. Have your event there, but do not stay at the hotel. It is worth it to rent a car and drive elsewhere.

The management did not seem to monitor the activities. We heard guests threaten a couple and their baby in the lobby and later noticed police on the premises. We spoke to the couple who said the management did not address this matter. In the morning we noticed more sex workers (not the discrete kind). The hotel seems desperate for guests.Also, our room, which was one of the most expensive, was cleaned once because we asked. Apparently thats the default and you have to ask. Yet, there was no notice about how cleaning services worked.To sum it all up I regret staying here it put a real damper on my trip to Los Angeles.[Note that I dont like to write such bad reviews since I know the hotel probably employs a lot of good people who rely on those jobs, particularly after such a hard year in an industry that has been decimated. But the Portofino Hotel made sure it was neither relaxing nor a holiday.- When I arrived the rom I booked with an ocean view and jakuzi was not available. Instead I had to take an inferior room and they didnt even offer a reimbursement for the price difference. They simply said the one I boked was not available.- In the evening, I grabbed the phone to order room service. Guess what, the phone is not working. There is a number for text messages - I text and no response for an hour.- I finally go downstairs to order food and ask how long it will take, they say max 45 mins. An hour later I go down again (remember there is no phone in the room so have to go 3 floors down every time I need to speak to the reception). I ask what the arrival time of the food is. The receptionist calls the restaurant and it turns out they never even passed the order to the restaurant. The restaurant manager says well Angelina did not call us to order and now it would take another 45 mins. Can you believe them? I was passed 10pm by the time I finally got some food.- Facilities are very poor and not maintained. Bar is falling apart, restaurant is not well maintained and they dont even have a bartender who can mix cocktails.I would never ever stay here again. There are much nicer and CHEAPER places along the coast. Try Casa Del Mar or Share in the same price range.

Very disappointed with our stay. Was very excited to celebrate my bithday at Redondo Beach but Hotel is in bad condition and is not really a dog friendly hotel as they claim to be. There is a pet fee that supposedly includes a variety of amenities but we didnt receive any of them. One of them was that we could borrow dog food and water bowls and was told by the front desk they didnt have any and that they were going to tell the management to remove from site description. We had to go in the middle of the night go buy some. Horrible customer service. Dog fee supposedly also included a welcome present for dogs and we didnt get anything like its usually the case at other dog friendly hotels. Please update your website and remove inaccurate information. Stayed for the weekend but was ready to leave on the first night. If you are looking for a dog friendly hotel this is not the place. Portofino hotel is an iconic hotel in Redondo Beach marina. King harbor across the way and many yacht clubs nearby. However, it appears the reputation is waning. The room was beautiful, the view spectacular! The staff, although gracious a bit unnerving. There was a problem with the A/C which was not resolved. It was 90 degree heat wave in April. Luckily it got cooler the next couple of days during our stay. We wet to Baleen kitchen for dinner but had to leave after 2 hours of waiting for our order! This venue is on point. I really felt that I had a 100k wedding for 70% less than that. The staff was excellent. To be honest I barely saw them throughout the ceremony but somehow in a matter of 10 minutes all dinner was served for 130 guests. Not only that but they kept refilling my drink and my husbands drink. We never had to go to the bar. It was simply incredible. The room itself was very quiet and large however the attention to detail was lacking. Paying over $250 per night I expected a little more. The amount of extras around the room for sale, like a mini bar and wine bottles was a bit tacky, and there was no extra blankets anywhere in the room. There was a small fridge however it was so full of beers and wine that have probably been in there for months that there was no room for our leftovers from dinner. I had such a wonderful experience at this hotel! I went on a whim with my sister and while we were waiting for our room, they managed to give us a room facing the beautiful sea right in front of where the seals talk! Lo. Check-in was painless. The valet attendant was courteous and unloaded our bags. We had to change rooms as the one we had booked didnt have enough room for a crib, and the two beds in it were tiny. The ocean view of the first room was laughable, so we opted for a view of the parking lot in exchange for a larger room and bed. The housekeeping services were very thorough, vacuuming, making the bed, and even mopping the bathroom. We did our research, so we werent surprised by the $27/day parking fee, and the items left out around the room with price tags were exactly as described by other reviewers. The rooms are eco-friendly, meaning motion sensors on all the lights (to turn them off only) and when the balcony door is open, the AC shuts off. The only problem this caused was when using the outlets on the bedside lamps to charge our phones, we woke up to dead batteries, as the sockets were shut off after some period of no motion in the room. The property is conveniently located to the Pier, and offers complimentary bicycle rentals. The restaurant is under renovation and all the cooking is done from a portable kitchen in the parking lot. The property has a slightly dated look, but is in decent repair. If youre booking an ocean view, skip the first floor unless you want to stare at a rock breaker wall instead of the horizon.

Great hotel at the marina. No sand nearby, but lots of water. There are free bike rentals and you can also pay to rent some kayaks and other toys next door. The pool was disappointing for such a nice place, but the main living room near the lobby and the hotel room were great. Recommend for families and those who enjoy boating. The area isnt as crowded as other places in the LA area.

My 18 year old daughter and I stayed here 7/29 through the Fourth of July. The hotel was lovely! The Decour, the rooms were very clean and very nicely decorated. The staff were very nice and helpful. This hotel offers bikes! FREE! The only negative comments would be they needed full length mirrors in the rooms. Parking is $27 per day which is a little high. Also we paid $45 for two bowls of oatmeal and two bowls of fresh fruit. A little pricey for that. Otherwise the views are great it was an awesome experience. We would definitely stay here again

We stayed in Mid October for three nights A Sunday - Tuesday stay. We had a Beautiful room, lobby/living area is just a lovely and inviting place to sit and chat. The front desk staff was excellent and very helpful to us. We had an Oceanside room on the third floor, with a lovely balcony that provided a nice place to sit and chill and watch the sea lions and boats coming in and out of the harbor. It really could not have been any better IMO. Housekeeping and valet attendants were great, helpful with directions and dining suggestions and very kind. Loved the availability of the beach cruisers to use to ride up and down the strand. We spent a lot of time using them to go up to Hermosa Beach and Manhattan beach for some fun in the sand time. A lot of opportunity to walk and bike ride to interesting sites, plenty of places to rent SUP and other rec equipment, and dining of a wide variety of tastes and price ranges are all within walking or bike riding distance. We didnt move the car once we arrived. This is a bit fancier than we usually budget, but we found the experience worth the extra $$. We highly recommend the Portofino, and plan on booking here again in the future.

We were afraid to touch the coffee because we didnt want the extra cost. And paying for parking is silly. You would think that would be included in your room rate. I visited this hotel briefly on my last day in LA after staying 2 weeks in California. I have always traveled a lot, but I must say the visuals, aesthetics, fascilities and location of this hotel are absolutely lovely and definitely lives up to everything they promise on their site 🙏🙏 Also the food at the restaurent is incredible and the beach is literally right next to the hotel, which is both convinient and so relaxing ❤️🏖Overall I will definitely visit again for a longer stay. The rooms are also very well-sized and the room-service is great. The only downside in my eyes is that the location is too far away from downtown LA and Hollywood for my taste, but if you are seeking a coastal LA holiday this hotel is absolutely ideal !! 🤗 Much better than anything near Venice Beach or Santa Monica Beach, since there is way more noise and so so many more tourists and homeless at both of those beaches ✌️

Location is good, nice looking vintage structure, marina views are terrible really, amenities are very poor. (Paid WiFi?!?, no free breakfast option besides lemon water. Fitness center is minimal and tiny, as is the pool. Paid parking when its just not necessary, plenty of free parking all around, and plenty of space in their parking lot.) The night staff... not so pleasant. I can listen clearly to conversations in the hall, or room next door.The lounge space in the lobby was very pleasant. The staff later in the day, was much better.

I was there for a business meeting in early December. The facility is an little older but has been redone and is quaint. It is blocks from all the beach activities and bars/restaurants you could ever want, the staff was friendly and the restaurant, Baleen Kitchen, served great food, BUT... After I left feeling like it was a great business meeting at the perfect hotel I got two charges on my credit card I wasnt expecting. Since we had more than one room I asked my employee to see if she knew what the charges where and she wasnt sure. Over the course of the next three weeks I left five messages for their accounting department and even threatened to contest the charges if they wouldnt return a call to no avail. How can such a perfect hotel at such a great location employee people who are too lazy to return a call?

I arrived at this hotel about 45 minutes after landing in LAX airport. The pictures online left me with huge expectations, safe to say they were completely fulfilled and surpassed.When I had arrived, the front desk had informed us that the elevator was not working properly, so as a result they would upgrade our room to the suite at no extra charge.Kevin (the bellhop) helped us with our bags and showed us our room. He took a minute to inform us about everything interesting going on in the area, as well as food to eat and places to see.Kevin was so polite to us and made the entire stay amazing with his suggestions.The rest of the staff were extremely helpful and polite as well.The room was in perfect condition, everything neatly folded and clean. The view on the balcony was amazing also.The room service came promptly and the food was extremely good for the price.I will most definitely stay at this hotel again when I am in the area for sure.I had high expectations that were greatly surpassed.The only negative about it would be paying $25 for parking, but the quality of the hotel makes it extremely easy to ignore that.

The housekeeping staff and the valet parking staff are really very good. The front desk however seems lacking in the coordination of services and guest relations. View and area is superb. The extra fee for parking and the delayed service for simple requests were not expected. Requested a few simple items and it took several hours after checking in to accommodate. Not really happy with the delayed service and no communication as to the delay. There are several other hotels with similar amenities in the area, but decided on the Portofino. I will most likely be looking for a different place to stay next time around as there really isnt anything that stands out, especially the service.

Staff were friendly, there is a decent restaurant with nice tapas on site and it was only a short drive to plenty of other dinning options. There is a small bar in the lobby seating area which I highly recommend visiting at the end of your day, the bartender was friendly and used his mixology skills to make us some awesome cocktails. I would definitely stay here again.

Went for a staycation, sometime away from the city. The first night was good and my last night was awful. We got to the hotel a little late and put the air on, but we kept waiting for the room to cool down. At 1am I woke up to check the thermostat and it said 80. I turned off the air and tried again. And at 3am I woke up sweating again.We called the front desk that our air conditioner in the room was not working. Their response was to open the windows. Paying $300 dollars a night to be awaken from being uncomfortable in the heat is awful. Opening the windows did nothing. We continued to sweat throughout the whole night in the middle of July weather. Not being able to relax is the worst part, especially when you go only away for two days. I was more dissatisfied on the way they handled the situation.

Fabulous hotel! Sarah took wonderful care of us to make sure we had a gorgeous ocean view mini suite. The hotels decor is stunning, nautical, in soft blues with beautiful moldings. Beds are comfy with plush duvets and lots of pillows.the food at the restaurant was excellent, too. Well definitely come back and stay longer! Loved going on the balcony in the morning to see the sea lions and people paddle boardin. Ill be trying that next time!

The only issue we ran into was when we booked online it stated we had a marina view...when we arrived it was the back of a pine tree. Had a Friend visiting from the United Kingdom and wanted her to stay in a safe and beautiful setting. We loved this property! Loved hearing the sea lions at night. We left our patio door open and she requested the bed closest to the windows to take a peek out and see them!The restaurant across the parking lot was great for breakfast and a nice spot to share drinks and catch up on Life stories and happenings.We would have loved a bigger pool (for the size of the property we were surprised it was so small, but the ambience and service in the Hotel is exquisite so it all worked out nicely.We both thought it would be a nice place for a wedding or a fun escape for a couple. 3 people in a room with 2 double beds. 3rd person came back late and room key didnt work. They went down to the front desk twice and received new room key that still didnt work. It was late, the ran into another couple in our family that also stayed so they slept on the floor of their room. Hotel staff never bothered to walk up and find out why key didnt work. We learned the next day it happened to several in our party. Hotel staff on check out took off parking fee for the inconvenience, but the parking fee shouldnt have been on the bill to begin with. Also was charged for creamer wewere told was free upon arrival. Read your bill with a fine tooth comb. Called several times to resolve and they never returned my calls, manager was always out.

Beautiful hotel, stayed in one of the deluxe rooms which was not only spacious but gorgeously decorated. Yummy coffee available in the morning. Lounge area is lovely with a view of the ocean, they had live music in the evening. Really liked that they had complimentary beach cruisers available to hotel guests. My husband and I spent a whole day biking along Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach. Bike path is easy, be sure to take advantage of that earlier in the morning before they run out!

This hotel has some issues. For one, the decor is very dated. The walls and ceiling are paper thin, so do not expect a quiet night, unless you indulge in the one pair of earplugs they supply. There is Rene at ions going on in the restaurant, so they are cooking out of a mobile kitchen. They only supply 2 K-cups for coffee, and the room is scattered with items for sale, such as a $25 mini bottle of wine, snacks, nips etc. The fruit flavored water they provide in the lobby ran dry, which shows their lack of attention. Another major flaw is the construction workers scattered about. They park their equipment anywhere they please, so we had to ask them to move, so our car could reach the entrance. My guess is that they are gearing up for the high season at the expense of their current guests, unfortunately for us.It wasnt all bad. The views from the ocean side balcony are really good, with boats, paddle boards, kayaks and sea lions. The staff was welcoming, if not outgoing.All in all, I would not recommend this place, especially if you are a light sleeper.

Honestly is not worth 700$ a night! I expected so much more! My husband and I traveled around 7 hours to get here. Firs of all the front desk was rude at our arrival plus no parking. Our room was not what we expected! Very old and small! Halls smelled like cigarettes! We went out to the balcony and they were rats! On top of that front desk never answered our calls! We called regarding us missing our fruit and we had paid for and they never answered!!! We walked to the front desk and the guy was just on the his phone!!!!! Please stay away from this hotel!!!!

The food at the restaurant is solid with large portions. Its a very popular place for weddings and given its value its understandable why. After returning to the hotel around 10:30 pm and discovering this, I called the front desk. The evening front desk representative couldnt care less. Her first and only response was - Ill credit your room for $5. I told her that the issue was not about the credit, rather the service. She couldnt care less.After checking out I received a bill to my credit card for nearly $80.00. When I called the hotel, I think that the same evening attendant told me that the charge was for mini bar use. My wife and I never even went near it! Again, she couldnt care less!Yes, this is a very nice location, but paying a premium to stay here with this kind of poor service, is definitely not worth it.

This Boutique Hotel is amazing. It is like an antique. There is a restaurant on the other side of the street. The lobby and waiting area is amazing with ocean views and the classic old-school feel. What makes this very unique is the ocean facing rooms when the windows are left open you can hear the sea lions and ocean life right from the room. Take a walk down the beach while you are there and you will run into Joes Crab Shack and other good places to eat and hang around for a great weekend.

Youre only a mile from Hermosa Beach and a little farther from Manhattan. Its fun walking down the marina out front and watching the crabs and skates in the water. She first noticed that we were booked for two queen beds and asked if we would prefer a king sized bed. She proceeded to get us the king sized bed and also got us an ocean view room. Beautiful place, views and hospitality. They really are top notch! Will for sure come back. Cant thank you enough. Portofino so much better than the Crowne Plaza across the way. I dont want this review to be misleading, I did not actually stay at this lovely hotel, however I did attend their New Years party. My friends and I had an absolute blast! There were several rooms with different style DJs, waitresses walking around with trays of complementary champagne, as well as several bars to purchase other drinks from. They even gave out free party hats and favors.We took an Uber to the hotel and unfortunately it was dark at the time as I believe the view of the waterfront would have been lovely! If I werent a local I would stay at this lovely hotel!

I don’t know if we just happened to be there during a bad week; the place seems to be held together with string and bandaids. Lobby windows leaking during rain, fire alarm loudly malfunctioning, internet down, water turned off overnight.The food and room service were wonderful. Bed comfy. Staff great.Parking $20 ridiculous.If it matters to you, mirrors were in odd places and there isn’t much counter space so getting dressed and ready was ergonomically challenging.We saw many large groups including a wedding and they seemed very happy.I will not stay here again but it’s not a bad hotel, just not ideal for some.

It was out first visit to LA and we stayed at this hotel for 9 nights (husband, wife, 6 year old and 4 year old sons). For the entire time we stayed there, no one in our party got proper sleep. The AC was turned off (presumably because it was December) so we had to sleep with the door open, otherwise it got up to 82 degrees in the room; but our room faced the marina & hotel entrance so, with the door open, we got all the noise from the restaurant, including noisy truck deliveries, and vehicles from the drive-way below. We therefore asked to be moved (after about 3 nights), and they put us right next to the elevator! Needless to say, it was very noisy having to listen to the elevator go up and down, day and night. And, unfortunately, we could not move to another hotel because nothing decent in the area had availability for all the nights we were in LA. I have stayed in a lot of hotels all around the world and this was by far the most horrible experience I have ever had. We also ordered room service one night and the clam chowder was separated and a greasy, unappetizing mess, which I ate a small bit of and had terrible consequences the next day. Perhaps this hotel was, at one time, a great place to stay but it is certainly no longer anywhere near that. It is not worth what they charge for it and the rooms could use some modernization. There are nicer hotels close to the peninsula that one can stay at and get better value for money and greater comforts. I wish we had known that before we booked out trip!

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times and I am about to visit this upcoming summer. I first stayed here when I was 16, I came to LA for my 16th birthday! This hotel is beautiful, great location and AMAZING staff. They treat you like royalty. Either side of the hotel you stay on, you will get a beautiful view. I mostly love the fact that this hotel is out of the LA busyness. I love downtown LA but I would not want to stay in the midst of it. This hotel is perfect. FUN TIP: Rent a bike and ride bikes along Redondo Beach. I do it every morning. Great way to get fresh air, exercise, sight see and find a good restaurant along the way to eat at! They had a fried cumin lamb chop appetizer that I could have eaten as dinner.There was also a fire alarm incident that sucked. It went off Sunday morning, and in the room below is, continued to chirp for 15 minutes.Be aware that they have a resort free that is pricey. Unless you are staying a few days and can take advantage of the resort amenities, its pretty annoying.

Booked this hotel for a business stay for my wife in the LA area. Looked nice upon arriving. The hotel is a little older but seemed well kept. This was until about 3 AM when water started leaking from the ceiling onto the bed. She was told they would switch her rooms, but it never happened. Apparently they simply stopped the leak from above. To add to it, one of the managers on duty harassed her by continually inviting her to dinner, offering to pay for it, calling her room at night to try and get her to come hang out with him, and finally gave her his number on a piece of paper in case she needed any personal attention. We are married and she was completely appalled at his advances. We will never be back here and would recommend others to stay away. To top it all off, all the extra fees ended up costing us $300 more than the advertised rate for a three night stay. Stay elsewhere.

For the money this is a very POOR CHOICE all around. It has the rotting vibe of a rip-off third-world resort in Baja Mexico (and not in a good way).VERY expensive but they have a few rip-offs to trick even more. Its foolish to spend $1000 here -- because you will. Its NOT worth it and there are such better values near the beach. Here are some details...Check-in was pleasant (the only reason it has 2 stars and not 1), but went downhill from there. Marina-facing rooms have regular foot traffic and activity which make it not very private.Room was (as to be expected by roof) fairly moldy. Problem is, you cant keep the sliding door open for the fresh ocean air because it makes the mold worse.It is located by an active dock where some live on their boats, so dont expect glamour. I was very impressed by the oysters, skates, and fish in the water however, so the water must be clean. In fact, walking along the dock was the highlight of the trip, which is sort of sad.Parking is $32 a day, but they cant guarantee you a spot so youre afraid to take your car out and go places after sunset -- and for that price, thats just stupid.The absolute worst part of the hotel experience is the TV, believe it or not! The remote and UI is designed to rip you off and charge you $24 a movie just because you were trying to find HBO (there is none). it promises Google Play connectivity, but it doesnt work, and the hold time was stuck at 7 callers ahead of you for an hour. Too Bad, because there was nothing to watch except really bad and really expensive pay per view.Another weirdness is the singular curtain that doesnt reach far enough to close on both ends, so you cant stop the lighting.We also had to pay a resort fee on top of a facility fee -- for NOTHING. (So thats another $100 for nothing) There...IS... NO... resort.I tried having food delivered but the front desk was rude and hostile unless I ordered from their restaurant. Meet them in the parking lot to avoid the young women at the front desk scolding you.Oh, and last advice if you stay here, no matter what you do -- do NOT eat at Joes Crab Shack. There are several other seafood options. If you dont mind spending $100 on breakfast, their eggs Benedict was pleasant.Advice: I think the Hampton Inn on PCH at $130 a night is a FAR healthier and more pleasant choice. Or, if you want to stay at the beach, spend the extra hundreds and stay elsewhere.

My husband and I came here for the weekend to celebrate my birthday. We also got married at the Portofino 2 years ago and had a great experience so we knew we wanted to stay there again.This time around got off to a rocky start. We thought we had a room facing the water, but we didn’t. Joseph who was a large part of what turned our weekend around, jumped right in to help find a solution. Not only did he go over and beyond our first night to switch our rooms, when he was unable to, he tried AGAIN Saturday as soon as a room opened up.Even though nothing came of his numerous attempts in regards to us moving rooms, it really meant a lot that he continued to try. That level of care and dedication to help make our stay enjoyable spoke volumes. I have worked in customer service based jobs since the age of 15 and even though our requests were not able to be met, the continued efforts of Jospeh made us feel welcomed, cared for and heard.We will definitely be coming back hopefully soon and thank you to the staff for making my birthday weekend comfortable and relaxing. Shout out to Jackson and Jonathan as well who are both exemplary employees.

The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and well kept, the drinks were amazing, and the wedding we attended was beautiful. However, we came from the east coast with small babies who needed to eat, and the staff refused to bring out the kids meals when we were there. The food wasnt served until 10pm, which was 1am East coast time. We did bring snacks for our daughter, but by that time she really needed her dinner. It was frustrating not being able to feed our 16 month old.

My bf and I went here for our 1st anniversary last weekend. We wanted full ocean view and ensured to book just exactly that. The 1st day, upon check in, they pushed us into a corner room which half of the view is blocked by a giant wall. We voiced our concern and of cos there was no other room.The next day, while waiting in line to speak to the front desk about changing our room, I overheard their conversation with the couple in front of me. Apparently they give the couple a free upgrade to ocean view because it was their 1st time staying with the hotel. I was extremely upset! I paid for the full ocean view with my hard earned money and get downgrade when someone didnt even have to pay, yet get an upgrade?! The front desk attitude didnt even help as well. I was more than polite to ask if I could please move to a different room with no blocked view. The hotel manager’s attitude was just rude and upsetting. It just sucks even more because this just had to happened on our 1st anniversary. I felt disrespected, upset and just overall deeply disappointed. This is not what I wanna feel after a vacation.

First off, NOT A RESORT! Place reminds me of 3 story apartment building converted to hotel. Public beach is About 15 minute walk away. Hotel pool is about 10 foot by 20 foot. They only have about 12 basic lounge chairs, half of which are in the shade. Any kids around and the pool is useless for relaxing. The rooms are so so. Most rooms have beds that are next to entry doors and hallway walls. So you will hear everything from the hallway at night as well as the early risers with kids running up and down hallway. Forget about ocean view unless you are on the third floor. The first and second floors basically stare at seagull poop covered break wall. By the way, only one 4 foot by 6 foot elevator for the entire hotel, and it is shared with bell hops and room service. We were there for a wedding and brides need to prepared. Outdoor wedding area is next to public walk way to beach and close enough to Marina to hear everything on the boats and parking lot during your ceremony. Housekeeping is stretched too thin. None on our first day. Second day didn’t show up until 4pm, while we trying to get ready for wedding. OK for third day, so we finally had clean towels for the next morning for our flight out. The Valets, front desk, and the wedding reception staff were wonderful. Food at the reception was good, and the restaurant the hotel has across driveway was also good. The wi fi the hotel has reminds me of dial up service and Verizon’s internet connectivity at the hotel is also slow. It’s just hard to justify the price for this “boutique hotel”.

We probably wouldnt have chosen this hotel on our own, however we stumbled upon it on Groupon and boy am I glad we did! Peter checked us in at the front desk and was friendly and very accommodating.We stayed in a oceanview room (although it was not a full ocean view as it obstructed by the ocean barrier). It was still quite the view and we loved being able to hear the crash of the waves on the barrier and the sound of the sea lions at night. Additionally we enjoyed the use of their complimentary cruisers and biked our way all the way up to Venice beach and back! The staff truly made us feel at home and we are looking forward to our second visit at the end of the year. Usually we try to stay at different hotels each time we visit to shake things up, but this one is worth staying at again and again!

Lipstick on a pig. This is a very old hotel with a nice view but paper paper thin walls and poor to mediocre service.Our room was right next to the laundry room and cleaning service began at 7 am with loud banging on the walls and outside of the room. Every time a door shuts its slammed or thrown shut by housekeepers. The cleaning seems to stop early too because at 3 pm we left and returned at midnight and still wasnt cleaned.For the price I would stay at a Westin or a W because this place is very poorly managed. We asked to change rooms and the front desk guy was very sweet but he didnt help resolve the problem or even apologize probably because management hasnt trained him to do so.The only place to eat breakfast is at their overpriced restaurant where the food takes forever and comes out cold. We were here for a wedding and one of the girls at our table had a live worm attached to her sea bass. Some improvements need to be made to justify the price of this place or they should lower the price to $100 a night.If youre coming to relax stay elsewhere.

Hotel was ok. I had the Marina view which wasnt much of a view from our outdoor patio because it was partially blocked by the plants. The view was mostly of the parking lot. The bathroom was small. No counter top in the bathroom so it was difficult to put any of your toiletries in there. There was one hook on the bathroom door to hang your clothes but it was too high up on the door that being short as I am I couldnt reach it. So the bathroom was not very functional. Their outdoor pool was small. Couldnt go swimming any way because it was too cold out. The esthetics of the place was nice. The first day we arrived we ate at their restaurant. Food tasted good but the service was horrible. I tried to be understanding because I know its not easy to be a waitor or waitress. But it took a long time to get our food. I had to ask for silverware. Then I waited quite awhile for my latte so I finally had to ask for that. The meal finally comes out and I didnt have the bacon I ordered. Getting that bacon was another long wait. I was nearly done with my food when the bacon was given to me. The people behind us was complaining that people who came after them got their food before they did and they waited 25 minutes and still did not have their food. I wouldnt stay there again considering the high price you pay for a place thats not quite up to par. Oh the parking fee was $27.

Amenities include a pool, fitness center and restaurant.Some negatives were noise, the walls were thin and we could hear our loud neighbors. Parking is expensive (self park or valet).The hotel is near a number of good restaurants as well as the South Bay beaches.

This was my first time on vacation here, I’m from Chicago, and I recommend this hotel to my family and friends especially to the guy working the front desk. I wish I would have gotten his name but let me tell you he was so professional and sweet even went as far as asking how my day was or having a small talk about what he recommends around the area each time I left the hotel or coming back. Eddie from the front desk and reception was an incredible help and treated my wife and I extremely well with helping us upgrade to the Oceanview room. Quality was 5 out of 5. The room smelled like an ocean dream come true. The customer service at this place went above and beyond. Benjamin at the bike rental store was also A+ at recommendations for restaurants and experiences around the area. The hot tub was a delight, seals were a fantastic attraction and hilarious to wake up to every morning. The Oceanview is well worth it on the 2nd and 3rd floor. The pier to the left of the hotel walking distance and restaurant accessibility with variety was out of this world. We went out of the busy season and it was so peaceful. Keep in mind the hotel does charge a $28 parking fee no matter if you self park. Also a $24 day fee to be at the hotel and enjoy benefits. Hermosa beach is a must so is Manhatten beach do yourself a favor and walk all the bike to the end of manhatten beach where you will find a breakfast/lunch/coffee shop and you can watch abouty 20-50 surfers all fighting the waves. Rodondo beach was A+++

The Portofino Hotel is set upon a nice location at the pier of Redondo Beach and gives a proper beachfront hotel feel. The hotel itself is easy enough to find and is located on a self-named road. The staff is courteous and helpful and they greet you as you walk in. Parking requires you to purchase a parking pass which is $27 a day, quite steep. The amenities were plentiful and the room provides you with an abundance of towels along with all the bath essentials (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel). The bed sheets were clean and each bed is provided with bountiful pillows for your liking. The room also contains a small closet with enough hangers and an iron should you need them. I also missed this, but there was also a safe on the top shelf inside the closet. There are many snacks strewn about the room and the fridge is stocked with beverages, but everything costs money so keep that in mind if you want to use anything to consume. The room itself was sufficiently large enough for two people. It contained a desk to work on. There was also an outside balcony where you could sit and enjoy the weather/view of the pier. No complementary breakfast, but room service is available which we did not use. The room service menu included many items. There is a gym which may have been 24 hours. It is a small, standard hotel gym - treadmills, ellipticals, and a weight rack/bench. One complaint: one day, we had housekeeping come into our room to clean up. After we had returned from our day of travels and housekeeping had done their work, my girlfriends sandals went missing. Not sure if this was a mishap because she threw the towels on top of them, but I think whoever cleaned should be more conscientious of what they pick up when they collect items for replacement. Overall, the stay was enjoyable. It is quite pricy, but for location, I could understand. Would recommend if you plan to stay in Redondo Beach and could afford to stay.

I have previously reviewed The Portofino due to my negative experience there. The hotel has been working very hard to remedy the situation. Michael Vo has been a pleasure to work with and has gone out of his way to get me my money back. That says a whole lot about an establishment. Although I wish my time there was better I am glad it is being fixed now.I stayed at The Portofino last week. The location of the hotel is perfect and the views are beautiful but my stay was terrible. Housekeeping walked into my room twice without knocking and 2 separate guests were sent to our room. When I asked the front desk about it I was told I would have a breakfast credit and not need to pay the taxes. When I got home I realized the hotel not only charged me once..but twice, a couple days after I checked out at that. I called multiple times and have not received any type of response. I would save your money and spend it somewhere more worth it. Maybe with a new front desk manager the hotel can be saved. I will never go back there again.

I had an odd experience here. The marina room they put us in had views of the parking lot and had a connecting door to very noisy next door guests who woke us up early. So we requested a different room. In my haste I forgot a nightgown in the first room. Oddly housekeeping said they never found the nightgown even though I was sure I accidentally left it. Did they steal a pregnant womans nightgown?? I just feel like I could not trust the house keeping or staff here again. Otherwise the rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable and the hotel is in a great location.

I have filmed parties and weddings here over the years and its always a lovely place to be. It seems to have its own weather environment because it could be sunny all over LA and foggy here. It burns off eventually, of course. Parking is validated-free for events. There is a flight of stairs that enables you to walk down to the sea wall and watch the boats pass through. The No Fishing sign appears to be a suggestion. Easy access for wherlchairs into the ballroom.

Overall disappointment. This is my second time staying at Portofino (first time was pre Covid). This time however, we had a tiny room (see view of parking lot) and spent close to $800 for a weekend stay for a family of 4 (the weekend before Thanksgiving). We were told upon check in that housekeeping only comes every other day. So that means no housekeeping at all during our stay. If you are going to do this, then stock the room with enough towels and coffee, other amenities for more than 1 day and dont charge a daily fee. We had to call housekeeping twice and tip both times to bring extra towels and coffee we would have had if they had cleaned the room. And the tiny beds. 2 doubles for 4 people. I am only 52 and 107 pounds sharing a bed with my husband and my feet were hanging off the bed. Finally, dont get me started on the restaurant Baleen. Its way over priced and $18 for Avocado toast during breakfast! Save yourself some cash and doordash Corner Bakery. We ate at Baleen for dinner. Our waiter told us all their food is localy grown and from local farmers markets. BS, Farmers Markets dont have refrigerated food delivery trucks! (see same picture, view from my room). Next time I am in Redondo, I will stay elsewhere.

I have had two stays at the Portofino Hotel and Marina and both times were great however on my second stay, which was May 21-24, 2022, I lost one of my airpods as I was departing. I called the hotel after arriving home and to my surprise someone turned my airpod in. I spoke with Karl Oldren, who informed me that he was able to ship my airpod to me after completing a credit authorization. He emailed the form to me and once I completed and returned it to him, he said he would ship the airpod within the next day or two. That was on May 30, 2022 and as of today, August 22, 2022, I have not received my airpod. I have called several times and emailed Karl but no response from anyone. Ive requested to speak to a manager or upper management but no response. I have been getting the run around since June and am greatly dissappointed in the failure to follow through after someone was kind enough to turn the airpod in to staff.

This hotel could be 5 star easily. I like to get the bad out of the way so here we go:-1 star for booking process. I booked by phone directly and received the package (and price) one below what I requested and was confirmed to upon my arrival, where I mentioned the package I wanted and was told ok, only to find out the next day they didnt have it right and wouldnt be able to change it. To make matters worse a multitude of guests were sent to other hotels as they were over booked (seemed most of those guests used Priceline).-1 star for the (I kept count) 8 times I reached out to the front desk for hand soap and towels to be brought. I also asked for 2 additional pillows, didnt receive until the next day. Ill add to this one that I extended my stay and they still cancelled my keys! I had a tired baby in my arms and had to trek back down to have them send me a new key, later to find out the new key didnt work for the pool!-1 star finally for their failure to notify me that they would be painting. I walked in to be met by paint fumes which triggered my asthma and had me burning through my inhaler on my final day. I closed my room and turned off the AC and opted to keep the balcony door open 24/7 which made it tolerable.All that said I want to love this place. It was beautiful. The staff were polite and very friendly. These problems seem easy for them to avoid with a few minor tweaks. I might book another trip just to see if they figure it out 😁.Great things:View, shower, beds, TV, balcony, location location location!

Disappointed. Ordered a King Size bed, room equipped with barely a Queen. Room was supposed to be Marina View. Only view was of the parking lot with shrubs hiding the lot as much as possible. Room was very small, and not sure where they could even fit a King Size. Fridge sealed, so you cannot even keep water cold. Elevator was broken the whole weekend. Check in is 4:00, and overheard people in front of us complain about their rooms not being ready.Note - After discussing all this with the Manager he gave us half off the room & no charge for parking, which was appreciated. If you stay in a room on the west side of the Portofino Hotel youll enjoy a nice view of the inlet/ocean and the boats/boards cruising by. The room I stayed in had newer carpet and paint throughout, however, the ceramic tub had rust around the drain control and the surrounding tile needed some repair work. The bed was comfortable and everything one would need in a room is available. Overall, it was a clean, attractive room close to beaches and the South bay coastline. Redondo Beach is a good distance away from the 405 freeway, and that may be good or bad depending on your plans.

A great romantic spot! Friendly staff, good food at the restaurant, amazing views from the room. This hotel rents out bicycles, free of charge, to guests. There are great shops, restaurants, and night life hot-spots within a short bike to the north or south of the marina.

We are from Boise,Idaho and after a 2 day stay at Disneyland we took the kids to Hollywood and then headed to the coast.We were just winging it and after checking out Hollywood, Rodeo Drive we started looking for a hotel to stay in..Well the wife found this place on the smart phone and we booked it for the night.The place is super nice and the next day we checked out after breakfast, but asked if we could still use the free bicycles even though we had checked out..They had no problem with that because they knew we had got to the hotel very late the night before. We rode the free beach cruiser bikes and my kids ended up playing on the beach and getting in the Ocean one last time before we headed back to Idaho.This is where the story shows how great this place is..My daughter ended up getting some sand in her private area and when we got back to the hotel she was in tears and even though we had checked out 2 hours ago they let us back in the room and let her take a shower.This saved her and our family because we were headed on a 7 hour trip to Las-Vegas to stay the night on the way back to Boise,Idaho.I can not tell you how much this meant to our family.I will say that the hotel building and plants around it ware amazing and we didnt have to pay for parking.Thanks again for letting my daughter back in the room!And we hope to come stay for a longer visit some day!

There are much better values anywhere else in the Redondo ares, and you should stay there. The walls are soo thin i am listening to both sides of a phone call in a room near me. There is roughly a 30 dollar a day fee to have a car at this hotel. Coffee in the room is not free, even the red roof inn has complimentary coffee. Valet is meh, and you dont really have a choice for parking. Oh i wish the folks down the hall would stop talking because it sounds like they are in the room with me, and they are not yelling. The safe is locked shut when we came in. Stay somewhere else.

Customer service was great. Good place if you really want to be around boats or rent a boat, I guess. But otherwise rooms were quite small for the price and didnt really have the great view expected.

We just stayed there April 27th, 2013 to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary and had a great time. We had dinner at the lobby bar, where you can see the sunset. Chris (our bartender) was great and made our experience very special. I read some 1 year old reviews before staying there that were critical of the room quality. Obviously things have changed dramatically (remodeling, etc.). The entire staff was very helpful and went out of their way to make us fully enjoy our stay. I recommend the 2nd floor ocean view rooms.I highly recommend this hotel and restaurant as a great place for a getaway. We live locally, and after a one night stay, Peggy (my wife) said she felt like we had been gone for a week.
