This was my first time in this location. Went to the Victims Family record release and listening party. Browsed through the used vinyl section and I instantly flashed back in time. Flipping through the different album covers and looking for that new band I never heard of.Ahhhh the good old days. Lol

The Next Record Store on Mendocino Ave recently acquired its name after a long run as The Last Record Store. With new management, the store has not changed too much. Still a great place to buy new and used vinyl and Cds. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I purchased two Cds at a great price today. Glad the store is still here.

Great place to find the classics in vinyl. I always start in the New Arrivals bin by the cashier. Frequently I find enough albums, that I dont want to look through the A-Z section. They really have it all. The only other Northbay used record store thats worth visiting is in Mill Valley.

Every time I go to Santa Rosa, i have to stop by this awesome record store. I always find some cool stuff, they have a lot, you can spend hours, finger looking at their collection. Do yourself a favor, if you ever find yourself in Santa Rosa, and you like music, well then, let me tell you, you just found heaven!!!

I had never been to The Last Record store previously. I am a fan of the band TooL. They had a connection with record retailers to pre-reserve a deluxe copy of their newest release. The closest store was in Santa Cruz. I love the band, but my old truck guzzles gas. So, I went to plan B. I called The Last Record store to ask if theyll be carrying the album. The person whom answered the phone told me they would be and then asked if Id like to reserve a copy. I replied emphatically yes and thanked them. I picked it up Friday August 30th 2019. The store feels like many record stores Ive been in. They have a hugenormous selection and the staff are very friendly.

I love this place. Lots of happy hours spent rifling through records over the years. First time in the shop since it re-opened under new ownership. I loved it! They opened it up a bit. The shop also seems brighter (new paint and more natural light) The racks are well organized. The staff was super friendly as always. Lots of new releases on display.

Im so grateful this store exists in Santa Rosa. Its everything a record store should be! Wide selection of music new and old, in new and used conditions. Ive been building a decent jazz collection on vinyl for around 5 years and this is where 90% of collection has come from. Check out the just arrived vinyl section as well as the bargain CD bins. Lovely, knowledgeable, staff.

Amazing. Support this place! I ALWAYS find a ton of gems in the $1 section, only one has had minor quality issues. And the staff is always so helpful in helping me with anything record-related, even if they dont carry it (ex advice on good but affordable speakers, what to look for at thrift shops, best products for record maintenance, etc)

This is a real record store filled with folks who understand how valuable a good record store is to the community. They have an impressive inventory of new vinyl items (based on the size of the shop), and quite an assortment of used vinyl as well. I didnt spend much time in the CD sections because I was distracted by all of the shiny records. They are always nice and they dont bug you while you are shopping. Lots to see and buy off of the walls and behind the counter. Support your local record shops!!!

I could have spent all day here. The person behind the counter was very informative about the records, and about a lot of different types of music. They have a great vinyl selection and some pretty rad special edition (I still want the 45 Graves album) I will definitely be back.

This is my Main Street, extended family, music history source and record store all wrapped up in one beautiful package. Everything a record store should be. The staff, Hoyt, Doug, Gerry, Ethan, and Josh, are friendly, kind, helpful and just plain personable. Its not just my favorite record store ever, its my favorite store ever. From the day I stepped into the store in the old location in 1990, I knew I had found something special. Long live The Last Record Store!

One of the last truly great music stores around. They have a great assortment of music, from rap to rock and classical to bluegrass, and everything in between. Tapes, CDs, vinyl. $1.00 records. A must go for any music lover.

Great store! I was really enjoying it until some guy came in with a wet cough in the middle of a flu season. He coughed and then started thumbing through records. Of course, that wasnt the record stores fault. I just wish I could have stayed longer.

This is THE place to go for CDs and vinyl in Santa Rosa. Ive been going here since I was a kid and Doug, Hoyt and the rest of the staff have always taken care of me. Special orders, recommendations, diamonds in the rough...you name it and they will probably be able to get you what you need. I cant recommend this place highly enough.

I have been a customer of Last Record Store since I was a teenager back in the 80s. Back then I would spend hours flipping through new and used CDs to find just the right album to take home. All these years later The Last Record Store still evokes the same feeling.

They have a really good selection especially if you are into more obscure punk music. A little pricy for records but that might just be the industry at the moment. They seem knowledgable about music and are really nice and enthusiastic. The wall also has a good used cd selection. If you are into older rock bands like reo speed wagon and fog hat you will find plenty of bands like them for really cheep. Modern stuff ranges from 10ish (mostly 12) to 20$+

We were seated quickly. Our waitress was polite and efficient.Our dishes arrived quickly snf piping hot.I ordered the chorizo enchiladas. VERY tasty !My wife had the chile rellenos.We both thoroughly enjoyed our visit.The bill included suggesting tip amounts ending @ 20 percent.We tipped 25 percent as we were very pleased with the service we received.We stayed at a RV park in Lodi as our quest was to visit winneries.We will return.

One of the first times I visited this store was for the Tom Waits album release party for Bad As Me. They were serving high quality local beer and I received a free poster with the purchase of the LP (which also had a CD of the album included inside). I thought to myself, This place is cool.When they say record store, they mean it. Lots of crates to dig through, but well organized and grouped by genre. Most really good used vinyl goes for between 5 and 10 bucks a record. They also carry NEW vinyl, of the 180-gram audiophile variety, offering tons of indies, as well as major releases. It costs a bit more but having the new Norah Jones album on white double vinyl with a deluxe lyric sheet is nice. Being able to find re-issues of old Fred Wesley albums is really nice.Since Ive moved to the area Ive visited the store on a weekly basis, sometimes multiple times within a week. Fortunately its within biking distance for me. Over the past few months Ive brought in hundreds of pieces of vinyl and CDs to sell back and they generally have been very fair with me. Hint #1: Your trades are more valuable as in-store credit than cash and they wont buy stuff they already have many copies of. Sorry, kids...save the Boston albums for your garage sale.Selection-wise, if they dont have it they can usually order it on CD or vinyl, if available. This store is also right on top of things when it comes to staying tight with their suppliers. This past Aprils Record Store Day was proof of that. When most shops only get shipped one or two RSD titles this place had literally everything I was looking for, and then some. The feeding frenzy at the 7 singles bin this year was something to behold.Their dollar bin is a haven for those with little dough to blow, with slightly beaten-up copies of lots of classic albums. Its certainly a better deal than iTunes, to be sure. They even sell inexpensive turntables there for those neo-hipsters who are just getting into the vinyl craze. Hint #2: If you shop the dollar bin, drop the $15 on a Discwasher brush.Ive found the staff to be nothing but knowledgeable, helpful and personable. Whether youre seeking the music of Adele, Insane Clown Posse or Frank Zappa theyll steer you in the right direction without a smirk. Hoyt (the taller, bearded dude) has tons of fascinating stories about the history of the shop and local music scene in general. Doug (the guy with glasses who looks like he should be wearing a beret and playing bongos) is the other original owner, and is also a local musician in his own right. Gerry and Josh, two of the other regular staff, have assembled a series of YouTube videos promoting new releases the store carries. Jason will be happy to chat with you about horror rock or Nina Hagen.Finally, with live in-store events such as the recent appearances by Johnny Winter and Yo La Tengo, this place is constantly a contender for coolest record store in Northern California. If you love music, go here. Plan to spend some time, and most likely, some cash. You will probably find what youre looking for and maybe even discover something you didnt even know you wanted.

I purchased a new, unopened record from them. When I got home and opened it, I noticed the record was scratched. When I returned to the store with the damaged record and my receipt, they informed me that all sales were final and recommended that I contact the manufacturer. I could not believe my ears. Finally, they allowed me to swap it for another new record for the same price. When I asked the clerk if I could open it and inspect it before leaving this time, he rolled his eyes at me. This was the last time I will ever go there. And everyone wonders why record stores are going out of business...
