I called The Law Offices of James L. Arrasmith yesterday because of legal matter we needed help with urgently. CAM (Common Area Maintenance) charges from our landlord that where very high and they came as a surprise. I was able to call his office yesterday and was booked for an appointment for today! His staff was very helpful! The process was very organized and smooth.Not only did I have my appointment right away, but James went the extra mile in ensuring I understood our tenant rights and came up with a strategy to help us out legally. I now feel more confident in our decision of going through our next lease carefully. We will hire him again prior to any lease we sign to make sure our financial interests are protected. Fortunately, they attended to me very quickly when I called, which made me feel calm since moments after the accident I was already resolving some concerns I had when I accepted his consultation at The next day he went to his office to find out how the case would continue. I will start by saying I got the outcome from the case I was wanting and I appreciate that. From beginning to end, which was one month, I felt like they had no clue what was going on. Communication was horrible. Had 2 scheduled phone calls that they missed by hours and only called when I reach out to see if I was still scheduled. One phone call that I thought was going to be about drafting a response was to tell me what the retainer would be and what they wanted to do. I had already paid the retainer and told them what I wanted to do. Another time talking about a totally different case thinking it was me. Charging me for both those calls.They did everything last minute, filling a response 2 days before the court date. While I’m happy I got the outcome I wanted, they slapped me with a bill over the amount of my retainer. Total over $5,600 for one filed document and to represent me in court. Less than 1 month being a client.

Contacted him about a case about being able to produce results about my cats wrongful death by a vet. Took me on as a client, communication was horrible took months for the demand letter, even though I submitted everything they asked for and much more for documentation almost immediately. Asking for updates on the demand letter was torture.Demand letter sent, they wait far beyond the threshold of it to update me on the case. I have to constantly baby them and call every few weeks most of the time they say they would call me back and never do on numerous occasions to update me on my case.7 months later instead of taking the opposing party to court like the lawyer said they would if they dont negotiate he sends me a letter of disenagement meaning they no longer wish to represent me and then have the nerve in the same email to state I only have a few months to get it settled with another law firm because statue of limitations is 1 year for my case.I would strongly advise you look elsewhere because if your case isnt simple they will cut and run on you. Leaving you just screwed. The cherry on top was that they sent it via email the letter and there was no curiosity call to let me know what was going on, like what exactly was said in negotiations, nope nothing now what am I to tell the next law firm on what was discussed like no notes to pass along? They supposedly talked to the opposing council multiple times on the phone and email.What a joke they are in professionalism.

Arrasmith is a very bright individual and understands the principles of law - however that does not translate to operating a law firm and representing clients at a high standard.The office seems to have a major disconnect with the attorney, which in terms, delays your case, causes errors in information, time gets wasted, and you may experience a hassle in obtaining a client agreement.Additionally, It may have high reviews but it appears most of these reviews are created through fake accounts. Be wary of a new law office having hundreds of 5 star reviews - it is unlikely a small scale firm will have achieved this.Overall, I would deem this law office to lose most of their client credibility and honesty. James simply put is a coward. Do not seek his services. I had a civil rights case with him and anytime I felt displeasure I was not able to express it to him because he avoided me and if I told his staff about it they acted as if they were afraid of me as well. I had been having some problems with my apartment which did not seem fair for the amount I was paying and the agreements I had with the person who was in charge of managing my apartment so I decided to call james for a consultation to find out what could be done since I was not willing to continue paying the amount of rent I was being charged and having problems with my apartment. I paid over $4,000 in Aug 21, 2023 when I signed the agreement for services. There was no communication at all. For 3 months, I didnt know anything. On November 2023, I found out that my tenants were moving out. I went to the attorneys office and his legal assistant was writing the letter to notify my tenants that they needed to move out. My tenants left without the attorneys intervention. One month after my tenants moved out, I received a message from the attorneys office. It was December 18, 2023, they were asking for $1,600 to replenish the retainer which was $3,500. I called his office and told the receptionist that I will not paid anything else, and I wanted them to close my file because my tenants already moved out. Then, I received another message saying Sorry for the lack of communication. There is currently $80 owing. They never provided an invoice showing how they spent my money. I work with 3 different attorney-firms, they send me a monthly invoice explaining how they are spending my money. I showed the original message to another attorney that is helping me with a different matter. I was told that the way the message is written, there was money left in my account which it should be reimbursed, if my tenants were already out! Anyway, at the beginning, I really thought, I could have him assist me with my business; unfortunately, I have to seek assistance somewhere else!

I was referred to this attorney, and had a 40 minute intake to discuss my case with a paralegal. I was thorough in the information I provided and documentation, and opted for a 20 minute paid phone call with Mr. Arrasmith. Two of my appointments were no call no show with Arrasmith nor any heads up from the Paralegals that my appointment had been removed from his schedule. On the third attempt Mr. Arrasmith was 30 minutes late to our call. I made significant effort to be available in my schedule for each of these calls.On the phone, Mr. Arrasmith seemed to have none of the information the paralegal had taken for my case, and provided me the most basic information about Californias Lemon Law at a snails pace. I had to interrupt him on several occasions to let him know I had done the most basic googling of terms prior to our call, in an effort to respect his time. I dont feel like my time or money was respected in any way by this attorney.

Contacted his office for a consultation appointment, and was greeted by a nice lady on the phone who listened to my concerns and went on to proceed scheduling my in person consultation. By the end of the call, she states there will be a fee of $150-$250, to speak with James. Mind you, his signage states consultations are free. When I went in for my appointment, he didnt greet me and he slammed his assistants door in my face because he was talking inappropriately about spending his clients money. This has to be one of the worst customer service experiences Ive had. Understand your actions as a professional speak volumes when gaining customers. And it is my opinion that you were not properly prepared or you would have known that they both needed a little extra guidance. And considering they gave you every last cent they had and were going on and on about your experience, knowledge and ability to get them back in their home, it seems like a pricey way to find out they were SOL.In YOUR defense, the judge took issue with my father and his girlfriend immediately upon seeing them if not before, and they did themselves a disservice by expressing any emotion whatsoever in front of the court.It seems to me my father got screwed by his own family and the judge and his attorney.

Horrible experience. As I told James I felt like it was a scam they were running. They kept delaying the process. I find myself do doing part of the work trying to help them get it done. There was a period of almost 4weeks they ignored my calls, text and emails. Was difficult getting invoices from them. The judge would ask for documentation. Including affidavit. I typed up myself and submitted to James and his team. They didn’t even bother showing up with it like the judge asked. Of course no ruling again. After the hearing they looked at it and even told me it was a good affidavit. Never once where they able to meet a dead line. Causing them to keep charging me for their mistakes. Horrible experience. Don’t use them. Don’t let them fool you like they did me.
