Not even kidding, I just had the best mocha latte in my life. The only reason I gave food 4 stars is because they didn’t have any pastries when I was there. Highly recommend if you’re in the area looking for coffee that’s not Starbucks.

Cutest cafe with very friendly staff. Best iced vanilla latte my girlfriend and I have ever had (be sure to get large for excellent milk to coffee ratio). Love that you can customize the sweetness (50% is my fave). But beware…. You may never go back to Starbucks again

The very first I came, we were treated like family. That checks off service and quality. AJ and his family, and all the baristas are lovely humans. Whats even better is the quality of food and flavors for the pricing. If they can make it your way, the will die trying. My loyalty is forever sealed. I absolutely love this place. Oh yes, before close it must be said, AJ is an absolute chemist when it comes to making your perfect drink. If only they were open on weekends. But since they also sell and grind bulk beans and teas of many varieties, you can get your fix until you can be catered to next week.

On weekday mornings, the Conservatory is a popular coffee house with long queues.Today, the wait time was 25 minutes at about 9:30 am.Anyway, we keep coming here for the coffee and especially the scones as of end of 2018.How has this business been doing since the pandemic started and a Lock down was implemented?I am happy to report that this business is still thriving as of this Tuesday morning in April 2021.Business practice has changed of course. It is mostly take out and not sit down.The staff is upbeat and friendly. It remains a very pleasant experience to be a customer here.

Excellent tea and coffee selection to choose from and delicious bakery items! The decor is rustic and old-fashion. There’s not much space, so you may have to get it to-go if you come during peak hours. Parking is also pretty limited in the area, but most lunchtime patrons have walked from nearby offices so you may find a spot if you come by car.

Here because of the high reviews. Unfortunately, I thought the cappuccino was mediocre. I’ve been to two dozen cafes in Los Angeles and several places in Thailand and Vietnam and was not impressed. It may be the bean or the roasting process but the cappuccino was not smooth and velvety as ones I’ve tasted elsewhere.

I was in Culver City for a couple of weeks and went to the conservatory every morning!! The quality of the lattes & blended iced lattes are better than most places (including the cafes I go to in NY). The pastries were also very good. Most importantly, the staff is welcoming, beyond friendly, and extremely efficient. There’s a reason it’s always full. A beautiful environment to do work in & a great local community. I can’t wait to come back soon :)

Great place to source your special occasion coffee beans ($15-20/lb). Everything is fair trade, roasted in house. This place is a fave amongst coffee snobs. You cant go wrong with The Conservatory. They have fantastic coffee roasted fresh in the shop, their tea selection is insane and the pastry offerings are always on point.If you need help choosing a coffee, the staff are all very friendly and knowledgable. Ive been buying their organic fresh roasted beans for the better part of two years and I can say I have always been greeted with a big smile. Everyone their knows the coffee and can help you decide what beans youll like based on easy to understand descriptors like chocolatey or fruity. Telling them your brew method of choice isnt a bad idea either.If you want an intensely fruity, blueberry-like coffee I highly recommend the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Natural. Ask to smell the beans and youll be blown away. Its even better if theyre offering that as the single origin espresso for the day.

Excellent cappuccinos! Served in glassware, not disposable cups, I’d you are having it there. Foam is perfect, coffee flavor is flavorful but not burnt with a bit of chocolate and a good body. A well rounded drink. Baked goods are great and pair well with the drink options.Also, the outdoor seating area is lovely.Room for improvement: placing your order can be a bit confusing as it gets chaotic in the small space when it’s busy.

Limited choice of vegan options. Very good coffee. Excellent music. Nice interior. Friendly staff. Extra bonus for serving coffee in a proper cup (a rarity nowadays) and tea is also served in a pot. Main con (and personal grievance) people sit inside on laptops as if it is their office, taking up tables and seats. Fine if they are purchasing successive drinks/ food and supporting the business, but they stay lonnng after they have finished. It is unfair to other customers who need a seat and to the establishment who are losing revenue. I have left because there is no room to sit. Taking advantage of free wi fi to pose at playing being a writer or to be on your phone talking loudly whilst not buying extra drinks, is dishonest and arrogant. These people are not their to keep warm or because they can’t afford wi fi. Far from it

This is a very popular local spot for refined caffeinated beverages and freshly baked goods. I have only been here a handful of times to grab a quick brewed coffee and a scone (the apricot ginger and chocolate cherry scones are sooo good with coffee!). A pro tip would be to park on a street and walk over, since the small parking lot behind the store is typically full, especially because it is free. Also, if youre only going in to order a coffee and pastry, you can wait in the usually smaller line inside the store.

I popped over to Conservatory for Coffee while exploring the neighbourhood. I was slightly overwhelmed/confused with the setup upon entering since there was a blob of customers and it wasnt clear where the end of the line was vs people who had already ordered and were waiting - fortunately, things worked out, as they do. The pastry display was mostly empty - it was late morning at this time. I ordered a cappuccino and a piece of their gluten-free coffee cake (it came recommended by the staff who took my order) and settled in a seat outside since it was a nice day and they had plenty of open tables there. Despite it being on (what I think is) a busy street, I didnt find the hustle and bustle to be too noisy or disturbing (the inside was much more active). Overall a great experience and Id look forward to coming back the next time Im in town.

You heard of microbreweries? Well, this is basically a microroastery. Experiential without large gimmicks. You walk in and are teleported to a classic coffee and tea shop. The wall of tea gives a Willy Wonka vibe; the roasting drum in sight shows that you are being welcomed into an operating roasting space. Their single origin coffee beans are fantastic, and their house offerings are consistently great. Employees are knowledgeable about coffee and kind - you never feel rushed like at other mainstream coffee places. You get the feeling of wanting to stick around and take your time drinking your cup. I highly recommend this place, Id call it a destination.

My in laws discovered the Conservatory while visiting us and now not only do we drink Conservatory coffee exclusively but our whole extended family in Oregon has these incredible beans delivered to them! Ordered fresh ground coffee from this place and was very excited when I received the following message, “Hi, this is the Conservatory! Your order is ready! The cage is locked but the code is ****. Thanks”. I drove about 45 minutes from Hollywood to pick up my order. I get there and there is no lock to be seen. Hours of operation are from 8am-2pm M-F so no one to call. Replied to the email asking to have my order cancelled. Then I get this email reply, “Hi! Your order is outside in the cage behind the store by the back door. The code for the lock is 1776. It will be available all weekend but I can cancel if you want.Thanks!AJ”Why was that not in the initial email is beyond me.

This place is a gem. NO WIFI but who cares? They roast coffee in house daily, the staff are all amazing. The coffee is definitely one of the best. I have been all over LA to different coffee shops and this one makes extremely amazing drinks, flavor or no flavor, drinking the coffee black has a good after taste. Family-run, customer-oriented awesome little place. Super long line in the mornings, but there’s a back counter for “just coffee.” A couple little tables to sit and they always have GREAT music. Willing to modify to please the customer and always cheerful. A real gem of a joint!Pro tip: if you have acid issues, as them to warm up their cold brew. They do it in the steamer so it gets the foam layer on top and almost tastes like a latte- but nothing added!

Their coffee is roasted right there. the conservatory smells like magic and joy.this is one of the best places for coffee, and is a regular stop for me. the coffee is so very good, very reasonably priced, and no one there is even slightly pretentious. just friendly, helpful people.its a regular stop for a lot of locals, so it can get busy at times, and its not a quick-in-and-out sort of place if theres a line. the same person takes your order, makes your drink, and rings you up. this can make it take longer than other coffee places, but its totally worth the wait for the personal touch.

I had Blue Bottle coffee and then found this place and would not go back to Blue Bottle. They made me a pour over with an Ethiopian natural process bean and only cost me $3. What a deal.

Only knock against this place is that parking can be a bit hectic during peak hours. Other than that, no real knocks against this place. I dont like coffee, but there are only 2 coffess I will drink: 1) the coffee my wife makes (she worked for coffee bean for a few years during her undergrad so she makes it particularly for me), and 2) the almond milk latte from The Conservatory. Overall, the coffee shop has cool interior decor, a nice outdoor lounge area, and theyre always playing great music. They are always well staffed and the staff is also friendly and work fast. But beware, the line can at times go out the door!

Went to Victor Jrs who has great pizza btw this coffee shop did smell good from afar it was crowded even on a hot day. I would give it five stars just based off that how the crowd was responding to what they have to offer. Will go back and partake in an ice coffee or iced tea

Great local a spot adjacent to Sony pictures. Been around 20 years. Super friendly staff and ownership/family. Owner Aj is there almost every day and does the roasting himself. Pastry selection is extensive and good quality as well as well priced. Expect a serious line in peak hours and theyre closed on Sundays and all holidays. Love em!

I also loved that they had a removable tea strainer so my tea never had to over steep - greatly overlooked in most coffee shops since they dont specialize in tea. I liked the massive tea selection which you can see lined up on the back wall and would love to come back to try more!Very friendly service, very affordable prices. One thing to note: theres no Wi-Fi so clearly, this is a place where they encourage real conversations (or truly getting work done).Quality is 4 stars but the affordable price bumps this up to a 5 star place! Theres usually a line, but they work through it pretty quickly considering how long it can be sometimes.No WiFi, which I actually prefer because it helps the tables continually rotate open unlike some chains where they could stay occupied for hours.Small and family owned, definitely a place that contributes to the culture of Culver City.

I should have tried the coffee, but I didnt. Instead, I got the iced blended vanilla, which was good, but really really sweet. On top of that, I got a chocolate chip cookie, which was also really really sweet, so it was overpowering. Overall, though, this place has an awesome ambience to chill for an hour or so. The tables are a a bit crowded and set to the side and on the front patio. Not a place to get work done. Its too busy, and you would feel bad because no one else is working.In any case, they have a large selection of coffees and teas, so if youre picky about these things, worth giving it a try. Really easy parking options. You can park on the street itself, or any of the neighborhood side streets have free parking.

This has been my go to Coffee Shop since I moved to LA in 2010. It has delicious coffee with a casual family vibe thats really nice. I buy my whole bean coffee from them pretty much once a week. They have organic options and everything is roasted fresh, right there in the shop.The coffee is half the price of most 3rd wave coffee shops (Intelligentsia, Blue Bottle, ETC.) but just as good in my opinion.The place is family owned and run and all of the baristas and staff are super friendly.My wife loves Chai Tea Lattes and they make one of the best in town with real tea (not powder) and its not super sweet like most Chais. She gets it with the local almond milk that they serve.We went in for a coffee, two pastries, and a chai the other morning. 11 bucks! Its hard to beat that.Do yourself a favor and visit the Conservatory the next time youre in the neighborhood.

Im the 39th review and another person who will 5 star Conservatory. This is the BEST coffee Ive had in LA. I mostly drink lattes and they do it right. Its the perfect amount of chocolate mixed with espresso. I dont get to go every day which is probably good because I really savor getting to go a few times a week.On Friday I sometimes like to indulge in one of their pastries. If youre going to go for a muffin I highly suggest the banana chocolate chip. But, I really like to have a turkey and cheese croissant with my coffee.In the afternoons you can indulge in a cookie or hot pretzle. If its a hot day, I highly suggested an Iced Toffee Latte!

AJ roasts them fresh on site, and he or his staff can take you through the different options to match your flavor preferences. Compare to Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, where the expiration date for the beans is 6 months or more out. How long has it already been on the shelf? At the Conservatory, how about roasted TODAY, or yesterday or - say it aint so! - two or three days ago.
