Fantastic quality of coffee and pastries. I know its like 300 feet from a Starbucks but this place will blow starbucks away. The atmosphere is relaxing and fun at the same time. Their coffee was delicious and they have some really good pastries. I absolutely recommend this place.

I grew up in the South Bay and remember how popular this place was when it first opened. Long lines and good coffee. I think the lines are a bit longer now and service a bit slower, but still worth coming in. I always enjoy a pour over and a croissant. Their cold brew is usually on point, too.

I loved their drip coffee so much that I found it hard to distinguish from their expensive pour-over, except for the fancy dish it was served in. Its one of the better places to work, with reliable wifi and plenty of natural light.

This place sucks, both times I’ve tried this place giving it the benefit of doubt and they always let me down. From first glance, this place looks like a high level coffee shop but ITS ALL SHOW.The espresso is insanely WEAK and WATERY. 🤦🏼‍♂️I fully believe in the saying “you get what you pay for” and I’m a huge Coffee drinker willing to pay well for a good latte but man this place is charging WAY TOO MUCH for their joke of coffee. Not only that but both times I’ve waited over 20 minutes for a Latte “TO GO” and I’m a patient person but they seem to not understand what that means. They didn’t even put my Vanilla syrup inside either 🤦🏼‍♂️SAVE YOUR TIME & MONEY and GO TO WHOLE FOODS for your Coffee - half the price, 2x as much espresso, 3 minute wait and 2x the size.

Coffee was ok but not worth a 30+ minute wait for a latte. Person who took my order was super friendly and quick, and there was maybe ~5 orders ahead of me when I got in and seems like they waited 20+ minutes for their orders too. Not sure why it takes so long but not a place I would go if I had anywhere to be in the next hour.

Absolutely recommend! Super great location and ambiance. Lots of seating and plenty of drink options. Staff is insanely friendly, too. And not in an annoying way. Genuinely good time. I got the Stockholm Fog iced, light ice, with half the mocha (to tone down sweetness), oat milk, and it’s complete heaven. Only reason I didn’t give 5 full stars is because it seems a little overpriced. But I really enjoyed my visit.

Coffee is balanced. Notes of chocolate and a smooth finish. Knowledgeable baristas. Selection of gluten free pastries. Roasting on site. Third wave coffee and open about bean sourcing. The corner is busy but the inside is a quiet haven from the bustling traffic. Not a place to study, but a great place to socialize with a friend.

20 min wait.... For a double espresso?! I get that its the weekend, but its 11am and a simple order. And the register girl seemed unsympathetic for that wait. Youd think the team and service would be more time efficient especially on the weekends, on how to serve coffee and customers. There are many coffee shops that can handle the crunch time. The register girl and baristas are moving at a slow pace - no sense of urgency or time management experience. No wonder your wait time is long. I like the vibe but the service needs to be better. I got the quick + black in the end, and the register girl called it drip coffee - Im pretty sure its not as its their regular brew.

Came here to see what it was all about, they definitely have the latte art down. There was a bit of merchandise going on. The latte definitely had a good coffee taste, not over burnt, balanced. The line wasnt too bad, and the order came out in a timely manner.

Fantastic pour over, the flavor notes came through really clear and it was a nice clean cup of coffee. The aesthetic and the presentation were both on point. The employees were nice as wellDont go here expecting some dark roasted coffee, as Ive seen in some of the reviews. This places takes care in sourcing their beans and then roasting with a profile that suits those beans; to dark roast them would cause them to lose their origin characteristics. They do offer a medium roast pour over and its a little cheaper than their other options.At $5.75 the pour over is a little pricey but it takes time to make a proper pour over and they did a fantastic job. It wasnt sour or bitter at all.They sell 12oz bags of their fresh roasted beans for between $16-$20 which isnt bad compared to other high quality fresh roasted beans.Overall fantastic experience. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back

Well this is not your ordinary coffee house. Premium pour over coffee and a delightfully refreshing upscale experience. Now my wife has to go here every morning and it’s not a bad place to go. Love the style and how they only take credit cards and not cash and they only have one size for your coffee. Love it very well done very classy.

My husband and I love to discover new coffee places and roasters as we are coffee fanatics. This place is above. The baristas know how to make a good cappuccino and you can tell they roast the beans the proper way. Coffee is fruity and earthy and not burnt tasting.The place has this very chill cool ambiance about it. My only complaint is wish they had a larger size for cappuccino. When I am back in town I will surely visit. If you like good coffee pay them a visit.

Out of all the coffee shops in the area, this one caught my attention because of the aesthetic and name. When I arrived I wasnt greeted or welcomed, but that was fine. Until I got my order taken by a pretty rude guy. The guy was not happy to answer my questions about the coffee and was in a rush to get my order. I like to try different coffee shops throughout LA and even make my own espresso at home. So I have many other experiences to compare this to. Customer experience? Needs some work. The coffee? My $6 hot mocha was not even filled to the top in spite of the cups already being quite small. If Im ever in the area again Im taking my business elsewhere.

LOVED the atmosphere here. It’s everything I’d want in a coffee shop. Friendly knowledgeable staff. All the right brewing methods for the coffee connoisseur. Coffee was ok. I did a pour over of the yellow bourbon and couldn’t believe how light it was. It was almost tea like. Not sure if there wasn’t not enough grounds or the wrong temp water. But I was somewhat disappointed in it. I’d definitely go back next time and try again.

The Boy & The Bear (Culver City) is my favorite coffee that LA has to offer. I usually order Ethiopian so I was caught off guard when I learned their offerings were exclusively Colombian. Nevertheless, I‘ve always enjoyed my drinks: pour over, oat gibraltars, and oat cappuccinos. This location was nice, airy, and moody, which was perfect (though the grey store is my favorite). I do think the hospitality could be improved upon as the barista at register unnecessarily told us they were closing at 4 pm, even though we ordered our for here drinks at 3 pm… odd. The classic espresso was a bit more tart today (yesterdays in CC was really good), but the “exotic” espresso made for a smooth capp.

This is a comfy coffee shop with an awesome menu. Id highly suggest the Stockholm Fog for people who enjoy chai flavors. If youre ever at the beach and see this place, stop in for some great flavors. Parking is offered along the street so that can get tricky. Otherwise, the service is great and the menu is fun.

The service is extremely slow here. To get the basic order of latte I waited 20 minutes on a weekend. There was no waiting line but the barista was moving very slowly. Once it arrived, the taste was normal. Nothing artisanal in either the coffee taste or its preparation.When I entered there was a strong lovely smell of fresh coffee which was very inviting. Its a big place with a cozy seating to hang out with friends or just work from there.I may go there again for the baked goods. Baked display is not at the usual spot facing customers when ordering coffee, instead the display is on the side of the cashier. I tried their strawberry jam croissant with cream cheese stuffing. Never had something like that before and the creaminess inside and flakiness of the croissant was a perfect combination.

I was visiting again because I was looking for a certain coffee a family member likes, and the barista was so kind and helpful. She recommended the light & dark and it was a perfect rec.Old review: If you have plants at home do NOT sit on the couches. The bird of paradise in the middle of the place is absolutely infested with spider mites and scale insects. One of the worst Ive ever seen. If you sit under these, youll likely get buggies on you and theyll spread to your plants. Look at the attached picture-- each black dot is a scale insect, each white dot is a spider mite...there are over 1000 insects on that ONE leaf, while every leaf is infected to some degree.Note for the owners: get some neem oil spray and go to town on the plants. Make sure to wipe off he casualties because your plants are COVERED in bugs.Other than that, this place is amazing!

Eye catching corner location! Im excited I found this place. Every detail is purposeful. The coffee is excellent, roasted in house. I hope to take a bag of beans home with me soon.I love that high end coffee can be had without pretention, and this place has none. The baristas whipping up drinks with a smile. But the truly adventurous, curious, and reasonably demanding will want to take a little time to learn the virtues.The beans are select and the roasting is superb. Beautiful coffee.Kind, helpful staff.If youre interested in trying different kinds of coffee this is the best place Ive been. Pourovers are a little more pricey(not too bad compared to other coffee shops!) but being able to try single cups of really unique coffee makes it totally worth while. If youve enjoyed natural processed coffee before Id recommend the guavabanana pour over if they still have it.Speaking of variety, they have two different styles of espresso with a menu for each.Theyre also the best roaster Ive tried in the area by far.The only negative thing I have to say is that sitting outside can sometimes be unpleasant due to the road noise. That being said they have a lot of space inside.

I come to this coffee shop multiple times per week. Ive gotten to know the owner Andreas and he always has great recommendations for drinks. Ive not been disappointed with a drink Ive gotten here.I typically get either a pour over of one of their specialty coffees or I get a breve ristretto latte.I also recommend any of their hot teas.This is the only store that I buy coffee by the pound from.If youre in the area give this place a try.

Until today I recommended this place to everyone, I really liked their croissants. But Ive been going several times and when I get there its crowded with people and the window is empty! they never replace the food, if you just want to go for coffee, take your food from home. the most ridiculous thing is that they think its normal for the customer to go to the place and come back home because they dont have bread or anything else to eat in the window, they make 3 options a day??? detail, today I went and its not even midday yet, they close at 4pm and they are operating the store with nothing in the window, is that how coffee shops work in this country? I discovered this place by accident and I have been coming back ever since. The coffee is great one of my favorite.The beans are very good but not my favorite. I feel the flavor is not strong enough for me. I like the Vanilla and Salted Caramel Late. I like that the drinks are just sweet enough but not overly.Recently I feel the Vanilla drink has after taste to it, still good but not ideal special as the drink get colder.Another issue is recently they have switched to a lower quality milk which I am not happy about. When I asked they said something about having issue with spoilage which I understand but still not happy about it.4 for the coffee5 for having locations close by

I had great hopes for this place but unfortunately I did not enjoy the coffee. Their traditional espresso choice has high levels of sourness. I did not try the modern espresso since the barista described it as a lighter roast with floral notes, which usually translates to even higher acidity. I went twice just in case my first experience was a fluke. I had a triple shot americano the first time, which tasted very under-extracted. I attributed this to the triple shot, since the people I was with liked their drinks. Second time I got a regular cortado to help balance the high acidity with the sweetness of the milk, but even that was too sour. The other problem was the very long wait time, we waited a good 30min for our order. Another group we were with that arrived after us waited even longer. As far as I could see there as no reason for this long wait, they had 3 baristas working, there werent too many people in line, and there wasnt a large number of people picking up mobile orders either.The reason Im giving 3 stars instead of 1 is the pastry though - I had a pistachio croissant which was delightful. If I were to come back I would skip the espresso drinks in favor of tea or brewed coffee, and just get a pastry.

The Boy & The Bears Black Store in Redondo Beach is in a sunny corner building with comfortable leather couches and outdoor seatings on both sides of the streets. The atmosphere is conversational and family friendly.My experience here was much better than my visit at the Culver City shop. I visited this place after hearing a couple of praises from unrelated individuals. One of them described their latte as absolutely amazing.Upon entering the shop, I was greeted with an amazing aroma that was both new and familiar. It smelled like coffee but on another level, perhaps how parfume compares with cologne. They have gigantic dog food sized burlap bags of coffee beans along the side of the store.The menu is simple, like In-N-Out simple. I orderer a Hemp Milk Latte with Vanilla flavor added and was asked to wait outside while the beverage was prepared.So - now about the actual drink. WOW! HOLY S#!+ It was complex and smooth with a seeming lack of acidity and imparted the delicious flavor of coffee without the bitter aftertaste characteristic of coffee.I will definitely come again, but wouldnt do so daily as Im the kind of guy that did an ROI calculation on and invested in an espresso machine at home since I prefer to conserve dollars with self sufficiency. That being said - whatever they prepared and served me is something I dont know how to make at home. I have had good experiences here, but the latest one was extremely disappointing.I walked in around 1:58pm and have been here much later in the past. I look over the bags of whole bean coffee and after 5 minutes or so, make my selection. I go to the register to order a drink and pay for the beans and the worker in a man bun and glasses tells me that they are closed and cant make any drinks. I told him I had been there much later in the past and he said they changed their hours a few weeks ago. I asked if I could get it to go, to make an exception (since I had been there for a little bit) and he starts talking back to me, telling me I should have gotten there earlier. I did get there before 2:00pm, at which he should have asked me to order right away, since they were closing. There were still at least 5-7 people in the shop, mind you.So I put back the $20 coffee beans and walk out because I dont want to spend my money somewhere that treats their customers like this. Horrendous customer service there today.

I really REALLY wanted to like this place. I so wanted a local Coffee House that I could walk to on the weekends as a treat with my dog in tow. Cappuccino was very foamy with so many bubbles (milk wasn’t steamed right) and milk was cold, i am guessing extraction wasn’t top notch either. I have high-end espresso machine at home and can do 10 times better job at making a good cappuccino/latte, it’s not that hard. I went here on a Sunday, the place came highly recommended from a friend who visits regularly. Well, I dont know what happened, maybe they were short staffed? People were waiting as long as 30 min for coffee. I followed my nose there as they were currently roasting at that moment which carried my steps there as if I was Toucan Sam with fruit loops. My first time there this morning and the guy at the counter broke it all down for me about their coffee, their process, and their business. If youre looking for bold and dark roasts, this is NOT for you. Im normally a dark roast kinda guy but he let me sample their cold brew, and I ordered an Americano straight black (as I always enjoy my coffee). Being that it was a medium roast, I expected a more acidic or bitter taste, but I was surprised with a crisp smelling, strong tasting delicious cup of coffee as I was also still hypnotised by the smells coming from the roasting machine just about 4 meters away from where I sat. I thoroughly enjoyed the environment as well. Wide open with high ceilings, comfy furniture, merch shelves that were simple and spacious. NOT overcrowded with pressuring mulitple items to confuse you. Both the nice gentleman at the counter and the Barista seemed genuinely welcoming and very friendly.I would absolutely recommend this fine establishment to anybody in the neighboring area to sit and enjoy their time here, rather than rush to go.Superb.

The matte black and industrial finishes of this business creates a simple coffee experience for boutique coffee connoisseur. Although, the decor is almost too sparse to feel like you can relax and unwind. With lunky couches taking up the middle of the room, seating is limited unless you feel comfortable snuggling with your company and sitting across from strangers. The overall price for a latte is expected for a boutique roasting company in Southern California. I wish the company had remained The Fika Company for two reasons. First, the meaning behind Fika encourages an experience rather than a product and capitalistic exchange. Secondly, the paint job over the original sign is a sore sight now. I had a great time here despite them accidentally losing track of my order. It’s a place with a fantastic vibe that’s matched by the staff. I felt like I could stay for an hour or three and would hardly notice the time going by.

I enjoy the black tea with side of almond milk. When they give it to you its like a chemistry project in beakers. Pastries are good, dense. A bit pricey and seating is limited

The coffee was delicious. I tried something new for me (Stockholm Fog). It was a great combination of chai and mocha. The almond croissant was amazing as well.

Nice atmosphere but understaffed . Cashier was kind of stearing me away from buying a coffee drink so I got regular coffee only one size as a small at Starbucks and was cold!! Never again!

The coffee is fantastic at TB & TB. Inside seating is often dominated by computer users but there is also seating outside (weather permitting) so I have always found a spot.

Wonderful place (with complimentary WiFi) to enjoy coffee or espresso-based drinks. Beans are roasted in-house and the selection rotates regularly. Staff is warm and friendly.

I can say that this is a great caffeine coffee shop as well as a cafe with the people here very nice able they seem to be able to answer any question I cant really throw a thing and they make a pretty decent cup of coffee as well I would say if youre nearby I would check this out over a chain store you wont worry about it

Great coffee!! The pastry I had (guava and gouda) was really hard. I would try it again maybe I just got a bad one. They dont serve food just pastries from what they told me

They told me, (paraphrasing) oh, were just a specialty coffee roaster, our drinks arent our focus.And then I had a cappuccino and realized that was wrong.Seriously. Get a cappuccino. Get two.Also get some of their coffee... but drink their cappuccino while youre picking the coffee.
