The sales and service people at Outfitter are awesome! I just bought a new bike and it was a really big deal to me. They saw my enthusiasm and made it clear that it was a big deal to them too. They were very supportive with all my questions and the minor adjustments adjustments I requested. These people really like bikes.

The best bike purchasing experience weve ever had. My wife and I came here to purchase a bike and not only were they super helpful but they didnt push us to buy more than we wanted and they went way out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable during the whole experience. Ash was super patient and very helpful when picking out necessary items for our bike. And wow... David... when we found out something didnt quite work for us David went way out of his way to be super helpful to get us what we needed with absolutely no hassle. Highly recommend this place if youre looking for a bike - amazing experience - we will definitely be coming back! Thank you! 10/10.

They give no-nonsense honest advice with pros and cons without trying to push a particular sale.My brother who lives abroad needed a new road bike. Colin gave good advice and possible upgrade options including what bike travel bag we should get. Chris did an awesome job with the fitting based on your preferences. Finally, a staff member (sorry forgot his name) helped us in getting the bike ready in the travel bag. 200% recommended!

I went in a few weeks ago to ask questions about my wheelchair tires, Hollister answered all of them and told me to come back when I got my new tires, and they’d be happy to change them. We went back today and even though it was complicated, Hollister and Andrew were awesome… checking on the new tires, figuring out how to get my old solid ones off, and making sure I was happy with my new ones. Very happy.

This is the second bike that we’ve purchased from The Bicycle Outfitter. Both experiences have been fantastic - the staff are knowledgeable, attentive, and quite helpful with any questions you may have. We did not feel rushed either time, and our staff member (Jesus) spent over an hour with us as we tried out different models/sizes. We’ll be heading back for maintenance and any future upgrades!

This review is regarding my recent experience for my MTB service only. I bought my Specialized LEVO SL at other shop but I will switching to BO next time for sure. The services tech, Andrew was courteous, efficient and knowledgable. He was able to ID the problems and. came up with solutions and quote. The service was completed in one week as he has promised and all went flawless. Got my first really nice bike from here. Trek Checkpoint SL5. Absolutely love this thing! Fairly new to cycling and was indecisive when I first came in. They were happy to let me test ride a few different bikes. They didnt have the SL5 in my size ready at the time, but had it assembled the next day for me to try. Never felt rushed into a sale and they made sure the bike was a good fit. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable but also straight to the point. Think I found my go-to local bike shop.

ABicycle Outfitters is my go-to local bike shop. David Miller helped me configure a new Trek Project One Domane bike; he knows a LOT about bikes. Because Project One bikes are customizable, his detailed knowledge of the choices helped.When the bike came, Chris performed a complete bike fit. (He also made quick adjustments to my old bike; what a good difference those made too!) A detailed bike fit makes all the difference.Another fellow in the shop is an expert in Garmin bike systems. He configured my Garmin to work with my Shimano DI2 shifters, Bontrager light, etc..Bike tech has evolved a lot since I got my old Trek Domane from Bicycle Outfitters 10 years and 50,000 miles ago. Getting a new bike with just the right parts, integrated with my bike computer, adjusted just right, and with good support is a great experience.A Trek error delayed the bike, so David Miller worked with Trek to sweeten the delay. Their customer service is A1!

Had a great experience today! Walked in with my kid and her new bike, which I had (mostly) put together myself. They helped us out right away, making sure everything was in working order and ready to go! They gave us tips on how to learn to ride a bike (for little people) and were super friendly and fun. Extremely helpful mechanics! They spoke with me over the phone and provided some great advice, but I was not able to finish the repair by myself. However they were able to quickly fix my problem once I brought my bike in. Happy to be riding again.

My wheel was woobly. Since I bought it at bicycle outfitter, I brought it to the mechanic shop for them to take a look.The mechanic checked the truing. He told me the wheel was straight, and so that it didnt have a problem. I told him that even if the wheel was trued, it was still woobly. Neither my tone or attitude was agressive, but somehow, he became upset and irritated and told me that without the bike, he couldnt tell me what was wrong.This was weird, but ok, I came back with the bike. Another mechanic approached me, and I explained that my wheel is woobly. The first mechanic interrupts, and tells him: why dont you take the bike, and pretend to fix something, because if you talk with him, it will take you half on hour. This was rude and uncalled for, since I had talked less than two minutes with him the first time. All I did was telling him (once) that even if straight the wheel was woobly.They ended up asking me 20$ for brake adjustment, which I didnt ask and didnt need. Its bad enough that you dont want to provide service, but requiring me to pay for a service I didnt need or ask just adds insults to injury. I am surprised because in the past I had been happy with the service and products of this shop. But apparently, when they decide to not take a look at your gears, you should not insist or else they will start charging you without fixing your problem.PS: it literally took one minute for the mechanic at another shop to figure out the probem (there is some play in the hub, which indicates that the bearings are loose). So no, it would not have taken half an hour talking with me. All was needed was to look at the hub to figure out what was wrong.

The service department here is top notch. They know how to work on high end bikes, including complex systems that I wouldnt dare, such as the wireless Di2, carbon spokes, replacing hydraulic fluid, etc. They are fast and reasonably priced.

I bought my first bike as an adult from The Bicycle Outfitter in 1982. And now, 40 years later, my wife and I bought our latest tandem from them. Chris Norris did a great job fitting us and getting the bike ordered. After delivery from the factory, master mechanic Kenny assembled it and even trained us how to change the rear tire on a belt drive train. We are very happy with the whole experience.

Ive been going here for almost 30 years. Outstanding local bike shop. I buy a lot of high wear items, sports nutrition, clothing and various parts here. Service is excellent with highly experienced staff. I do most of my own work, but there are things that require special tools or a really experienced hand, and I trust these guys to handle my collection with skill and care. They have done work on my vintage bikes and my more modern, custom bikes.

Ive been going to this shop since the nineties. Theyve always been polite, responsive, and they have some of the best mechanics in the business. I have spent more time on the service side and Ive always been impressed with their attention to quality and customer satisfaction. We bought our Co-Motion tandem there four or so years ago and it was a great experience as the shop allowed us to change some of the spec, so we could put Di2 on it! We love our Robusta (helps to remind us of our coffee addiction).

I LOVE BO! This place feels like a close-knit neighborhood bike shop. We went in for some bike shoes for my husband and received great advice and made the purchase. While there I asked if they do applications of handlebar tape to road bikes and if I needed to make an appointment. Christopher said he could do it before closing if I could get back to the shop soon. He not only retaped the handlebars but he added a cool splash of color on the inside top. I just want the world to know how much I appreciate The Bicycle Outfitter @ Los Altos. To make a long story short, they helped me make a special gift for my husband possible.As many bicycle enthusiasts already know, certain bikes are extremely hard to find and sometimes you have to wait several months to over a year to get a bike. A mishap occurred with my order at another bicycle shop. I was distraught but determined to find the bike for my husband. As God would have it, I randomly called this shop to see if they had the bike and they did! Not only did they have the actual model of the bike, they also had it in the actual color that we really wanted it in. Upon hearing my story, the manager and the other bike shop quickly worked out something together to mend my broken heart. No, seriously! This bicycle was a big deal for me. They honestly went above and beyond to make sure I was one happy customer. And that they did. A huge thank you again!Aside from the getting the bicycle into my hands, I got to know the David (The manager) more. He shared some great stories about how he got into bicycling and other great stories.This isn’t just a store that sells bicycles. These guys are great, highly recommended. Only place in the area that carries Co-Motion tandem bikes.Stephanie, the store manager, is super knowledgeable about bicycles and has amazing patience. We are interested in tandem bikes and she told us what to look for, why Co-Motion bikes are great, and allowed to test ride a couple of the tandem bikes on the store. Will definitely be buying our tandem here when we decide to go for it.

We first visited The Bicycle Outfitter to be fitted to our 20+ year old tandem, while preparing for a bike trip from SF to Santa Barbara. Chris took very good care of us, and also showed us their selection of in-stock Co-motion tandems. About a month later we decided to buy a tandem from them for the bike trip. My drive train (cassette, chain and crankset) were worn so badly that ghost shifts were the least of my problem. The excellent repair staff told me the crankset I needed was more expensive through them than if I got a replacement from the original builders. So I got the right part and Bicycle Outfitters re-did the drive train in 1 day. And washed the bike. Great place!

Great service and friendly and helpful folks here. While some other bike stores may appear better for competitive road bikes, this place is awesome for families all around. We have to get some work done on different kinds of bikes for the family---e.g., changing tires on a big Panasonic e-bike shipped from Japan, retrofitting carry basket on a ~20 year old Rock Hopper, replacing recalled cranks (which the service guys spotted as recalled parts by just looking at it)... The folks here can do the work at a very reasonable rate and with high quality. It gets a bit crowded on weekends so dont expect your work getting done on the spot every time. But give them time and the work gets done.

Not good returning experience... After spending over $5000 on a new bike and accessories, I was very disappointed that the store doesnt even contemplate matching the discounts that other bike stores like Summit provides thx to an employer program. I understand they may be not able to match for a variety of reasons but there are two reasons they frustrated me, as a loyal returning customer: (1) they did not make the least of an effort to make me their customer happy and (2) there is always a good business way of saying no. In addition to that my $4000+ brand new bike is causing me troubles with the front suspension. Not their fault, I agree but nevertheless an inconvenience they could recognize and act upon.

Was out to buy my first road bike and shopped at the two stores closest to my house. Bicycle Outfitter by far had the better sales staff (the other one near Trader Joes had some summer intern help me after they found out that i was in for my first bike). Also, they had better prices (the other shop charged $300 more for the same bike) . I took my bike in recently for the first servicing and they did not even count it as the first complementary as my bike was not used enough (and thus gave me another complementary check up). Strongly recommended.

I absolutely love Chris, the bike fitter. Hes super sweet, knowledgeable, patient and funny. The 2 staff members, a young gentleman and lady, are helpful and friendly and always greet you at the door. The manager is a bit stern. Clean store. It is required for you to wait outside until a staff member comes to the door. They do have a fitting room so you can try on apparel. I know some stores would not let you try on clothes such as REI so that was convenient. They are owned by the same owners of Palo Alto Bicycles but you can not join your accounts if you have a balance at any of the 2 locations.

We got our kids bike repaired here. We used to visit Performance Bike in Mountain View on El Camino Real and they are always super busy and unable to attend and keep asking to come back later. While this place was also busy, they were far more polite and nice.They fixed the front derailleur but it didnt quite work when my kid tried it in the parking lot. However, the mechanic went back and took him to make sure it work this time. I didnt get his name. I hope I could thank with his name.Great shop to buy gear as well though their selection of mountain bikes appeared quite limited.

I went here once a long time ago when I needed a new tire (urgently!) and they helped me select a good one and get on my way. They were fine with me changing my tire myself right outside the store and using their pump, and they even helped me get the old tire off free of charge (I couldnt deflate it because the valve was full of healing goo). I went there again yesterday to switch the back tire, and the price for that tire even went down!

The true test of a business in respect to it’s customers are when the chips are down as they are now with COVID and the crazy demand for bicycles and bicycle repair. I need my from derailleur adjusted and I was told they are not taking any more appointments. I call Mike’s in Palo Alto and they said they are only serving customers who purchased the bike from them. I then tried cognition cyclery in Mountain View on Castro and they are doing first come first serve. I drove over and within 30-40 mins my bike was fixed; took a little longer since they are COVID compliant, thus, limiting customers into service area. I am giving a bad review as I have purchased 3 bikes from this place and received no special consideration for my loyalty. Even as Los Altos resident I no longer will do any business with this bike company. Moving forward Congnition in Mountain View is my local bike shop.

Been there a few times to change flats. I had a bike in the backyard a few years. Came in an hour before closing and heard the old tall guy say $500 To the young bike tech. I thought they were talking about another bike being that the bike I brought in was only worth $150. Later I discovered that $500 was just to rid them of me! Ive been going to BO for YEARS and have purchased 2 bikes from Dave. My Trek which was amazing and my ORBEA which is just about ready for retirement. I moved to Arizona 2 years ago and called Dave with a question about my frame. Not only did he remember me, but he was so incredibly helpful and offered his assistance if I needed anything in the future. I’ve been going to this shop for over 25 years. It’s a great place. Recently, I was in there browsing and I rediscovered their extensive offerings in performance road tires, tools, and brake pads. With the current trend in disc brakes, there are so many varieties of Shimano and SRAM disc pads. They seem to have them all. They also had a full range of OEM and aftermarket rim brake pads for Campy, Shimano and SRAM. The pad prices are the same as mail order. Support Bicycle Outfitter.

A sales person spent half an hour trying to adjust and sell me a bike with too small frame. Either they didnt have a right size hybrid for me or he didnt know better? Took him half hour to readjust seat and especially bar is bad too. Other salespeople were available and could have intervened.
