Absolutely adore my dog. She’s my whole world now. So many wonderful dogs there. Staff is super helpful. Highly recommend (look into their foster to adopt program it was great). Veterans adopt free. Only note is ask about their vaccine history and make sure they are good to go out.

Everyone was so nice and honest about my new addition to my family. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a pup to check out the Tehama County Animal Shelter and see what they have. My brother and I went to visit the animals at the shelter. The shelter was very clean! The dogs were all pretty friendly and had their histories printed and hanging outside each kennel. The cats and kitten area was pretty impressive, not in size but the room was clean and the individual cat kennels are very modern and pretty spacious. Lots of fur babies looking for forever homes. Tiger was one of our favorite cats, so friendly. Also there seemed to be a lot of German shepherds looking for homes, most found as strays but a few surrendered. They were really beautiful

I adopted an adorable young terrier mix from this shelter about 3 1/2 months ago. The process was easy, filled out paperwork and 2 days later, I picked her up from the veterinary hospital. After getting fixed, she was ready to come home!!! She already feels like she is one of our own❤️🥰🤗❣️

Missing our baby. Monoxide, possibly stolen on 8-3.The Tehama county Animal Shelter was very helpful and made sure I gave them all the information. They let me check the dogs that were there.It broke my heart to see all the dogs that were there.

I found a stray Pekingese/Mix in the local area in Red Bluff and Tehama County Animal Care Center was very helpful. I was able to drop off the dog with ease. A few days later I checked in on the status of the dog and they were able to return her to the rightful owner!

I have adopted thru the shelter. The dog is wonderful. They work very hard (Especially the PETS group) to get animals into better situations. In the end it is the animals that matter, nothing else. Since my first review I have adopted again and once more the people were so good to the little dog I got (it lived up in the office cause it was so small). I am grateful to them and how easy they made my adoption process. I also love that as a senior it costs so much less to both get a dog and keep it licensed!!!

I Just went and adopted a dog. The staff was super friendly and there were a variety of pups waiting to be adopted. I have to wait until after she is spayed to pick her up but the adoption fee included the spay cost, initial shots and 1 year of licensing. I HIGHLY recommend checking them out.

I have adopted two dogs and several cats from Tehama County Animal Care Center and the people there are awesome. They help you in every why possible to find just the right pet. There are volunteers willing and able to show dogs and cats and they actually know as much as can be known about each one. The animals are healthy and well cared for and the staff and volunteers seem to love what they do. My experience was totally awesome. Christine is the best as are all of her staff and volunteers. Lisa is super at the front desk and Amanda is there to answer questions regarding health. Great job all and thank you. Merry Christmas.

We adopted a healthy, beautiful dog from this shelter. The process was clear, organized, efficient and above all the staff is genuine in the care and love they provide on a DAILY basis. The community support from local veterinarians regarding spaying/neutering and a free examination upon adoption, is commendable and appreciated by all. The only downside of the experience is that we can not provide ALL the animals a forever home.We highly recommend Tehama County Animal Shelter as a resource to find your next family member!

My service dogs license was processed nearly a month ago and I still have not received his tag. Whenever I call to see what the issue is Im told to wait another week and if it doesnt show up by Friday to call back and theyll issue him a new one. Only to be told the same exact thing once a week goes by and still no tag.

I have adopted 4 animals, fostered others, and volunteered at this shelter. It is a small public facility with five staff members who manage to routinely take care of approximately 100 -140 animals every single day. Staff does an exceptionally admirable job of tending to all the animals in their care. They concentrate efforts to ensure that animals arriving are reunited with owners. If that is impossible for numerous reasons, they strive to get the animals ready for adoption or rescue in order that their charges have future healthy, happy lives. These are good people doing tough work and I have great admiration and respect for the Tehama County Animal Care Center and all that it does. I also HIGHLY encourage anyone wanting a pet to adopt from them.

I went in to pick up an application to volunteer. Walked in to view the dogs.. the runs are clean and dogs seemed to be comfortable even in the crowded situation. I saw no dogs fighting which tells me that staff is safely matching kennel mates. This is much to their credit!! Cant wait for the orientation and begin to work w/dogs!!

Spay and neuter vouchers once a month, cats $15, dogs $20. Very sweet ladies run it on 1 Sunday a month, check the website. Come at 7:45 because at 8am when they open the line is full already with parents waiting for their turn to get a free voucher.Easy Peasy! No excuse having a surprise litter of furry tots🐈❤🐱

If you have a pup with a kindred spirit- they offer no breaks. Fined for not being neutered at 8 months old $250 each time he ran off to play, fined for not having him chipped or licensed $65 each time he ran off to play, vaccinated 6 times in 2 months and charged each time. They sat around the corner from our 4 acres just waiting to let my sons dog into truck for a not so free ride to the pound. In 7 months, we paid over $2200 in bail. It should at least smell a whole lot better there.

I walked in and they straight up told me my dogs arent aloud here and wouldnt do good here and would not tell me or my wife why. In the moment of that happening we could hear dogs and cats screaming as if they werent being attended to while there were 2 perfectly capable people sitting down doing absolutely nothing. The reviews here are totally fake. This review is someone who walked in trying to get our perfectly normal loving puppies adopted. They never asked information about our animals. This place is not good to the animals in this area. If I could Id take every single animal and pay to have them put in a humane society rather than a pound. THIS PLACE IS A POUND NOT A SHELTER OF ANY SORT.

The front desk workers were very standoff-ish and somewhat rude, very monotone and impolite. When my boyfriend asked if a pup was already adopted, one of them answered in a very sharp tone, that ones not available. It would be nice to feel a little more welcoming and enthusiasm when you first walk in because its possible that youre taking a pet home. The lady who helped us out (whom took one of the pups out for us) was friendly, and very forthcoming. Anywho, me and my boyfriend were there for about 20 minutes when we decided on the dog we wanted, after filling out the application, we ended up going home with NO pet. Very bummed.

I tried to turn in a small cat that was abandoned at my work site. When I first called they told me to bring the cat in, well when I finally caught the cat to bring it in (7 days after I spoke to them originally) I was then told that the cat can be put on a waiting list and it would be a $20 charge as well.So there charging people money just to help a homeless animal.Honestly I feel that is wrong to charge people who are trying to help a homeless animal.

They appear to be running a scam at this shelter. They steal dogs, blackmail owners in a shakedown and if the money isnt unjustly paid, perhaps wonder to yourself whose dog you may REALLY be adopting, perhaps one stolen by their criminal enterprise. Find video proof of this behavior on YouTube before using this these people. They are going to try and hide behind a bogus and unjust law to explain their actions, but watch them in my opinion STEAL a dog forcibly from private property and use that one to lure 2 more dogs who try to help the first dog and then she (their uniformed, armed employee) comes back for the 4th. Its sickening! Search Officer Caught Doing Something That Will INFURIATE Pet Owners on YouTube as a straightforward search produces nothing and then decide if you want to do business with them yourself.

Dont bother adopting. If you have a problem and try to return the animal to find a more suitable home, you will be met on the phone by a woman who goes from friendly to hostile in a matter of seconds. The moment I explained my situation there was a long unprofessional annoyed noise, followed by rude tone of voice, then the expected well Ill have to get ahold of my manager and call you back . I called other shelters and though they could not take a dog out of county there were all very polite, professional, and could suggest other options. Please train your staff not just the animals.

I had waited until i found the right kitty and that was a Manx, I had called several shelters in the North State asking if they had any and put my name on their list but had no responses until I called the shelter at Red Bluff. I headed south to check out what they had. I was very paticular in what I wanted and that was a female Manx which had come in. For only having one to choose from I brought her home with me. She was a feral rescue and very growly when taken out of the cage and the whole time I was there. By the time I got back to Redding and stopped at PetCo to get her food she was purring. After a few days at our home she settle right in and by now two months later is really our cat and entertains us with her silly antics. She is growing into a very beautiful and sweet cat.

I have my own personal footage of a “government” or “state agent” illegally entering and coaxing my pets out of my yard, then “stealing” them, holding them for random at their “holding center” until I pay the “ransom” to the kidnappers which is close to a thousand dollars.It is an illegal abuse of power and according to Federal, State, and County codes there is no right for an Agent of ANY office to enter or take from my private property anything, including my animals, without some sort of proof or notice. This shelter refused to take care of animals for someone who was in the hospital for 2 weeks, that were put into their care by the sheriffs department because there was nobody to take care of them. Stated they couldnt take care of them anymore and the were going to adopt their animals out. They made it sound like it was some huge dog and they couldnt afford to do it anymore, but it was a little Chihuahua! The Manager out there, Christine McClentoth is a rude and non-understanding B****! Even trying to work out some kind of agreement the manager refused to even try, she needs to be fired!

This place is awful. The poor dogs were slipping in the kennels that they had soaked with water. Their beds are a cot with a chain link fence and everything in their was soaked full of water. Please go visit the animals and try and make it a better place for these miserable dogs.

This is my neighbor Tom Grislier trying to shoot my dog sassy, the girl shooting the pics while using her crutch to knock the bolt from his cross bow, milli seconds before her fired into my dog. I have a restraining order against him, this violates it, but as Im an ex-con I have no rights and was told the sheriffs dept will not protect me or my dogs. Last month about the 14th, he ran down my room mates dog Buster. Sheriffs dept. response? Said I should move. I have video tape of him threating to kill the dogs and the woman, who by the way is terminally ill, who rushed into battle, on crutches and knocked the bolt off his bow saving my dogs . life. Gave my and my bf wrong information on the phone, telling us to just bring in a kitten he found at work, though when we got there they told us we had to be on a list for an unknown amount of time EVEN THOUGH THEY ONLY HAVE A FEW CATS. This shelter definitely does not have the animals best interest at heart voluntary tears are allowed only very limited hours during the day to walk the dogs out and sometimes the dogs are only walked once a week which is cruelty for them let your volunteers come in and work your dogsYes also the dogs are not getting enough food some of them are really skinny they need to leave the food down and available to the dogs at all times
