They have been improving a lot. I live in San Bruno and we need a good Taqueria, and this place has now earned a good position 💪💪The taco al pastor is very good and very filling. I usually buy one and buy an extra set of tortillas and divided into two. And then I get pupusas because they make them fresh right there.They usually have three choices of fresh, including Jamaica and Horchata.The only thing missing is a salsa bar but people mess those up so easily that it might be better not to have one.On the weekend it has a festive atmosphere that definitely reminds me of walking around some of the towns around Cancun.Parking can be sometimes a little tricky but downtown San Bruno during the week is usually pretty easy.The chips are perfect and fresh.I usually ask for a side of tomatillo sauce for the chips.

I was walking down the avenue and twelve clay pots over burners on the patio caught my eye. Today I was determined to get seafood, but as I walked by I was drawn in by the certain variety of choices and seeing the ladies cooking fresh tortillas right there. I looked at everything and decided on three tacos. One pinto bean and cactus, one shredded chicken and one pumpkin flower. I also had freshly made melon juice, or rather agua de melon. The music is a driving techno ranchera as close as I can describe, the staff is friendly and upbeat. The tortilla lady works the masa with the beat. Cooks dancing while they cook, customers bopping to the beat, waitresses lip synch and strut around. It’s just a Sunday afternoon @ Taqueria Leon on “the avenue “. Everything was exquisite and it was a very pleasurable and satisfying meal.

The decor was legit. Service was quick ordered over the phone. Had my doubts with regards to the pupusas as I thought it would be not made the salvadorian way. Boy was I wrong ! These pupusas are sooo delicious the chiccharon\ pork was sooooo delicious. The cheese I wonder if it was quesillo or oxaca but man was it good.The horchata wasnt Salvadorian rather it was Mexican but still it was sooooo good! The pupusa maker is from Santa Ana shes so nice and humble.No extra salt needed. The tomato sauce is a bit spicy the curtido is Soo good!

First time ordering from this place, and its a disappointment. I ordered 2 shrimp quesadilla, 1 shrimp burrito, and the quesadilla looks more like a burrito instead of quesadilla. The taste was blended, without any flavors. Never again, thats for sure. Im just going to have to drive down to the San Francisco Mission district.

Overall the food was bland and the service was poor. They were all very nice but there were communication issues. I was charged $10 extra because of it and I didnt get what they charged me for. So it was much more expensive than what it was worth.

I don’t know who mess with my order either way the cashier or the cook but is very disrespectful that they don’t pay attention, I ask for enchiladas verdes and I had extra dried enchiladas rojas, then I asked for asada nachos and I got pastor pork, sunny side up eggs and gave me over cook scrambled eggs.

Authentic cantina style atmosphere with an outside patio. Al pastor regular tacos were some of the best Ive had in the area, tortillas grilled rather than steamed, marinated just right. I will be back to try their Sopes y Papupsas 😁🌮

Pictured is the Two Taco plate which comes with rice and beans.If you order a couple extra tortillas you can actually make two meals out of this.Ive decided theres no reason to go to the Mission District with the tacos that they make here, just as good or better.Plus, they make fresh juices of a whole bunch of types so I dont have to drink sodas and things that arent good for you.I havent tried them yet but now they have PUPUSAS only on the weekends 👏😁

Nice people, environment. Most time here food has been ok; handmade tortillas on weekends.However, after comparing with other places I realized prices here are a bit too high. Portions used to be better; last time my asada with shrimps came with only 3 shrimps (they charge like $4 more for shrimps, so...); one time even they forgot to add the shrimps.I thought birria was going to be tastier, but was an average consomé and meat tasted like boiled-boring to chew scouring pad. Chips were cold and stiff.Menu selection is not great. What they think is their plus (quezadillas & pupusas on weekends) are not; they charge around $6 for kind of small quezadilla, not even to mention the tiny tacos.Quesabirria was a dissapointment.

Got the fresh tacos being made outside. Food was delicious. Thought they were the $3.50 street tacos (a little expensive at that price), but when it was time to pay I was charged $6 per taco. Taste was good, but nothing special. 1 item on tacos. When I received the bill, I was shocked. $30 for 4 tacos and a drink. Would of went back, but not after that. I could go to a nice sit down at that price. Wow smh!

Too bad this place has such bad service. It’s actually cute with the typical loud music that some love, some don’t.They implement a credit card surcharge, which is illegal in California state. They play on words to make it appear legal, but no good for consumers.

Best thing about Taquria Leon is Staff. Super friendly and helpful. We haedly knew mexican items and the menu was quite overwhelming for us. Luckily they suggested making any item customized as we are vegetarian. I would definitely suggest it to vegetarians.

Great place for lunch or dinner. Take your family here and enjoy the flavorful food. They have a self serve salsa bar with more than 8 options, they make fresh drinks at the juice bar, and serve icecream and shakes. They also have some of the best melon and horchata. Order the House Special, Taco Leon, ask for refried in place of whole beans add avocado and pico. they are better than La Taqueria tacos in SF. Large flatscreen tvs for entertainment and an outdoor area, right on The Ave aka San Mateo Ave. Enjoy!

BEWARE OF PRICING.I ordered two main menu items... one was $14.99 the other was $10.99I was charged 19.99 and 12.99 respectively.Plus tax, and bag fee. I only got 1 bag of stale chips and watered down salsa.I paid then questioned how much I paid..I asked why the menu price was not what I got charged, they said the prices are new and they cannot change it. They said they had to call someone to make it right... I waited 15 min while someone approved a refund for the difference... but I still paid taxes for the higher price.The food tasted watered down/not as flavorful as before so it seems they are cutting costs on ingredients and upping the price.I can only imagine when they did this and how many people they scammed without them knowing.

Bad place to be. I couldn’t believe that the waitress clearly discriminated me in providing me with a service as simple as chips. There body language could tell me how rude they were. I ordered my food and didn’t provide me a fork and knife for long time. Strange place to be and strange position to be. Ordered two vegetarian burritos and one with no pico de gallo. The burritos were decent but still were made wrong. My friend couldnt have onions which is why they opted no pico. Ive been here a few times and food always took too long and they have signs claiming its because of the quality they put into. Everything is prepped prior so I dont know what they mean by quality or excuse for long wait times. The only exception is when they make fresh papusas on weekends but other than that their food is not all that amazing. I was also charged an agua Fresca when I brought my own drink in the store but didnt want to argue because they didnt seem to understand me when I ordered my meal at the register and read brought another bill afterwards.

Myself and a friend recently flew into Sanfransisco airport from CT/NY area on business, and quickly (2min) google searched local places to grab a quick bite to eat. This place popped up, Taqueria Leon, although the photos on Yelp were incorrect (bad and should be changed) we still decided to stop by and give it a try... well for starters We pulled up to something different than what was in photos! presently surprised by the location look and even more so the politeness of the staff. We both ordered the most difficult items to get correct on any menu, steak and shrimp! it came out of the kitchen HOT, and perfectly done. it was all around an awesome/ wholesome vibe with amazing food. So if you just landed in San Francisco airport and looking for great Mexican / Spanish cuisine, this is the spot. just ignore those Yelp! outdoor street side pics, they arent correct.

Amazing food, I had the regular burrito with salsa verse pork and it was fantastic. Not to mention huge! I could barely finish it, I cant even imagine how big the super burrito is. In my book they’re a 4-4.5 star place, but I could not rate a 4.5. The food is very Good, kind staff, and clean. I would recommend and come here again. Only critique would the lengua tacos could use a special salsa to accommodate. I’m from Ohio but when I come back I will visit again.

These guys are awesome, hard working, GREAT food! I eat there once or twice a month when I’m in town for business. The young man at the Cash Register goes out of his way to be friendly and courteous. I always have a special request for extra tortillas and he even throws in a few extra. Great customer service.

This place seems a bit more Mexican restaurant than taqueria. I say that because of their more in-depth food preparation methods and their vast menu. Their burritos are acceptable and you may find their other items better.The staff is nice. I like them.There is a large selection of salsas. They rate the spiciness of the salsas. Their highest rating, 🌶️🌶️🌶️, means this is actually spicy. I dont say that lightly. I find the spicy foods at many places not actually spicy.

There is also a juice bar and a pleasant sunny patio for dining outside. I dont live anywhere near San Bruno, but I will make a point to go back when Im in the area again.

Living in Canada, good Mexican restaurants are not easy to find, so when I am in the US, I like to frequent Mexican restaurants. Taqueria Leon is the best one I found in San Bruno. The staff are very friendly, and the menu had a huge selection to choose from. There is something on the menu for everyone at TL. A nice change from the ordinary was the salsa bar. Lots of styles to choose from. When back in San Bruno, I will definitely be visiting Taqueria Leon. Do yourself a favour and visit this place. You wont be disappointed!

My only and most important complaint is the food is very very very very bland! No flavor at all. I ordered for the first time today and am pretty disappointed. I ordered a chicken super burrito for myself, and steak super nachos for my son...Both tasteless!!! Try using a little salt, pepper, garlic powder, etc. It would really help a lot! Other than that, I did appreciate that the meats were chopped small and were very lean.

This is a full service taqueria and the food is cooked right in front of you and it is high quality. The best thing about this place is the fresh fruit juice bar. I was visiting the area and found this place on the internet. I read the reviews and decided to try it. Trying to park in this area was horrible due to all the different restaurants on this street. The food was not horrible but wasnt bad either. In my opinion it wasnt worth the time circling the blocks trying to find a parking for 15 minutes.

Today we tried this Taqueria & Mariscos place, and we highly recommend it. Is super clean with a enjoyable atmosphere/music. Our food was served fresh and savory. Service is good. TV are available for those who like to watch sports while eating. They also have a juice bar. And if that wasnt enough for the whole family, you can also buy ice cream and get free WiFi connection. Expensive simple tacos. Stopped by on our way to San Francisco. My wife got a cabeza and lengua taco and good thing that she only ordered two. Both meats tasted like meat. She said that it needed laurel to take away the “gamey” taste. I ordered a tripa and an al pastor taco. The tripa was way over cooked… they were dry as chicharones. The al pastor taco was ok. We’re from the LA area and know about tacos, specifically about ELA tacos!! So, comparing those to the the ones we had here, well, we were very disappointed. These were $1 tacos sold for $3! But, the biggest disappointment was the taste… considering the name TACOS LEON. My cousins live in Leon, and we’ve had tacos there plenty of times, and these tacos ARE far from anything from there!! Hungry person beware!! (By the way, pricewise, I’d give it two $$ for it’s prices.)
