After reading the January 2024 edition of Consumer Reports entitled Your Guide to Better, Safer Drinking Water, where Simple Lab received a mention in the section entitled The Best Ways to Test, I went on line, created an account and started my research. You see, in undertaking new construction of a single family home that is not connected to any municipal or city water, but rather a private well, my lack of knowledge on whats really in my well water would not serve me well when deciding on which company and water system I would install in the house. The test arrived in a prepaid mailer box with very simple instructions on sample collection and return shipment. In a few days the results were available on line, with a clear explanation of variances and issues. Armed with this knowledge on my waters condition, my conversation with the salesman from the water treatment company was concise, and very efficient. Simply put I was an informed consumer. Needless to say, the money I saved more than covered the cost of the testing.

Hi, I have not been solicited or compensated for this review and am a recent customer of Tap Score/Simple Labs. I had a good experience with this company. My main concern in looking for testing of the water was to find a thorough and objective source for testing, and avoid finding companies that were trying to pitch filtration systems as part of their efforts. This company provided a level quality and depth in their the reporting that exceeded my expectations. There is a bit of a catch-22 in that to do a thorough job testing there is a bit of a process to sampling and interpreting the test, but this is where the companys support representatives came in and really helped make it a good experience. The company has a relatively easy-to-navigate online portal with chat support available. My support person was Robin and she responded very quickly to all of my questions and was friendly, informative, and attentive throughout the process. She helped me figure out how to be sure I sampled accurately, and she also made sure being able to interpret my results was a more practical and easy process than I could have hoped for had I tried to do it on my own. I basically had some higher chlorine levels, and worked with Robin to discuss relative safety/drinkability of the water and then (only when I asked her) she was able to discuss filter options that could work (the company does not sell any filters themselves, but nonetheless they are knowledgeable in this area). Awesome overall experience!!

This is an awesome opportunity to educate yourself about what is in your water. I did tap score before installing my whole house filter. Tap score has simple instructions and very comprehensive results that you receive pretty quickly. Compared to my local utility district/government water quality data, Tapscore reveals more of the toxins and contaminants that are not shown in public record keeping.

I have used this company several times for water testing on our homestead. The test results were promptly reported and fairly detailed.Fast forward a couple of years, I wanted to test our well water again to check for changes. My email address had changed and I couldn’t access my old test results for comparison (via their website).I sent an email to tech support and my previous results were linked to my new account after verification of my identity.I’m very happy with SimpleLab and will gladly recommend them to anyone. I have had 4 tests done by this company. Their system is well set up and easy to follow. They ship you a small box with a plastic bottle to fill with your water sample. a dip stick to test the chlorine yourself. You send the sample back in the same convenient box and place the return label they include in the box, on the box. The whole process of receiving your box to getting your sample results can take about 2 weeks which isnt bad considering shipping time. The results are very thorough and easy to access in your online account. You can easily share the results with others. You can also compare 2 separate tests at once. The results give you helpful info about how the results may impact your health, if your plumbing may be the issue, etc. They have a very responsive chat box where real people promptly respond and patiently and kindly answer your questions. They also send you an email of the chat which is helpful to recall any info discussed. From my experience they are a transparent company that truly cares about water quality and is not biased in their responses. Kelly did a great job of answering all my questions today and helping me see that even though my water test didnt score over 90, the water I am drinking is something shed be happy to drink, is safe and better than a lot of water. I highly recommend getting your tap water tested with this company or well water, before investing in a filtration system, it can save you money to know exactly what you need to filter out of your water. Helpful for testing my well water. Easy to use instructions and got my test results on time. Installed a new filter system to correct the issues identified and my results were much improved when I tested again a year later. I will continue to use tap score to test my well water every spring.Be sure to compare the results to both the Health Guidance Level (HGL) benchmarks created by TapScore and the MCL/MCLG regulatory requirements. I panicked when only looking at the HGL because it indicated I had big problems that werent going to be easy to fix. My filtration system guy pointed out that those problematic results were only trace amounts that were still below regulatory levels. Striving to meet the HGL benchmarks and perfect water is a nice goal, but in reality I had to accept that meeting the MCL regulations and having good/acceptable water was my only feasible option.

If you really want to know your water, Tap Score Is your one stop shop. The tests arrived quickly and the website portal is set up so that the sequence of events from ordering, receiving, filling the bottles, sending them back, and receiving the results is just beautifully explained. But thats not the best part… Service after the sale is absolutely exceptional. I asked Tap Score some questions about my results that caused me tremendous worry. Kelly was quick to respond with thorough explanations that set my concerns to rest immediately. Theres no way to lose with this company. Customer service has been above and beyond expectations. My first contact with Tap Score was in 2020, when I needed to have an existing water well that had been unused for decades tested for a proposed house. They worked with me to have the correct test for my state on hand when a water well professional came in to do a depth and flow test. Unfortunately, that water well didnt perform adequately, so it was not tested. Four years ensued (thanks to COVID and a poor contractor) before a new water well was drilled and connected to a new house. They are now working with me on an updated testing kit. Very few companies would honor a purchase made four years ago. And every single person I have dealt with has been courteous and helpful, even though my problems have been outside the usual course of business, and frankly, would be regarded as either a nuisance or ignored by most companies. To add frosting to the cake, Tap Scores testing fee was less than any of my local labs - and they are testing for more things to boot!

On the recommendation of a group of engineers at a recent watershed meeting, we ran the Advanced Well Water Test, which was quite easy. They supply everything you need, and in a matter of minutes your sample box is ready to send back to them. We were surprised to discover an unexpected risk in the water we drink and use every day. I contacted SimpleLab support to get further details, and began looking for a water treatment system to address the issue. After installation of our new treatment system, I contacted Simplelab support; they were very helpful, and saved us money on the follow-up tests. Ive recommended their testing several times to neighbors, and all of us agree--Simplelabs is terrific!

I moved into a new home in a new state, West Virginia. WV is known for the caves, coal mining and farming. Many extra minerals and/or contaminants can be in well water. So we had a culligan water softener installed then tested the water with TapScore. They were reasonably priced and had quick service. The free shipping was a bonus. They did a wide range of checks and explained each one well. I will use them again and recommended them to my son who lives in Washington DC.

This is a great resource. Instead of having to gather testing bottles from a lab, then returning to the customer, take the sample, then driving back to the lab with in 4-6 hours, these test kits come with ice packs and everything else we need. Now, we take the sample (great instructions), re-pack the kit, apply the prepaid shipping label and drop it off. 5 business days after receipt at the lab, we have our results. A MUST if you are a well owner, but everyone should know whats in my water? And this is the way to do it!

I am the caretaker for a Class B water system in Washington state. We test our water every two years and the results are vitally important to nine households. In the past I have used a local lab. They are technically quite competent and reliable but the results are not very user friendly. Compiling a report for dissemination to the water system members was tedious and time consuming.This year I had Simple Lab analyze our water and I could not be more pleased. The testing procedure was clear and easy to follow. My results came to me in a timely way. However, I happen to know from our water company that manganese is a problem. I tested my water to show the manganese in order to get a proper filtration device for my home. TapScore results showed extremely low amounts of it. I can either test again with a different company, or deal with oxidized manganese on every tap and in every toilet as long as I live here.

I work on residential development projects and purchased the Advanced City Water Test to test the municipal source at two of my companys sites to determine if the building would need a water softener or filtration device. The test kit arrived quickly and was really easy to use - two bottles, one chlorine test strip, instructions, and a return label were included. The results were posted online promptly and include a feature to see the results of other testers in my zip code. The only curious thing - the two tests yielded almost identical results despite being from different municipal sources (one County, one City).

Before using this service I tried to get free reports from my municipality and educate myself on what the reports meant, but it proved to be quite a challenge and I didnt have strong confidence that I was interpreting them correctly. I ended up deciding it was worth the cost to have Tap Score run their tests and explain the results to me in layman terms. Although it is a bit costly, their service is very professional and user-friendly, and I am happy with the results that were provided.

Everything about Tap Score water testing was simple and straightforward. The testing materials arrived quickly (within three days after ordering), the directions were clear, my questions were answered within an hour of sending an email, my return package was tracked, and I was informed upon its receipt and given an estimated date when the results would be posted. The entire process went smoothly, and when I shared the results with my state Department of Environment Quality, I was advised by an Environment Sr. Specialist that the testing method, laboratory certification, and chain-of-custody ensured that the results were uncompromised and accurate. I can now have an appropriate whole house filter system installed that will remove the identified contaminants from my well water and protect the health of my family. Although I initially thought the cost was a bit high, when compared to other labs recommended by my state Department of Environmental Quality for testing for PFAS/PFOS, I found Tap Score to be the most reasonable. All around, a very positive experience.

My wife & I bought our first house together 2 years ago and it was the first time we both had well water. We decided to have it tested with SimpleLab a few months after we moved in and were very happy with the ease of process, the number or contaminants tested and how our water compared to the national average, state average, and other well water users. About a year and half later we decided it was time to have our water tested again and we are very glad we did because unfortunately our water quality deteriorated from a 93 to a 77 so now are taking actions to making it better again. I have virtually no knowledge of what the drinking water testing process looks like. My initial impression is that this company uses modern test methods within a reasonable amount of time and produces detailed test reports. I legitimately feel like my water is safe to drink after receiving my test results. It seems petty, but I believe the most important consideration is perceived cost, which was simply higher than I expected. Im willing to pay a higher price because water quality *might* improve my health. If this company did all the things quickly and at a price that I expected, Id give them 5 stars. Thats my honest review. There arent many options for drinking water testing out there at the moment. I would recommend Simple Labs to others!

I recently purchased an older home-- while the inspection showed that everything except the service line outside the house was brand new, I have two young kids and wanted to check the quality of our tap water for lead-- Im glad I did! Once I knew it wasnt safe for them, I then tested the filtered water in my fridge to see if the filter was doing its job, and I was relieved to see that it is. Now I dont have to buy bottled water because I know that the filter is safe.SimpleLab didnt spam me, advertise to me, or do anything other than what I wanted it to do-- the process was simple and had clear steps with recommendations of what time of day to test and if/when you should run the water first. They address all kinds of systems for all kinds of problems, and all I had to do was fill the bottle, put it in the prepared box with the included pre-paid label, and drop it in any mailbox. I got my results in about a week and feel so much better knowing what needs to be fixed (and what doesnt!).

WELL worth the investment! From start to finish, our experience with Tap Score has been OUTSTANDING! Customer service helped answer several questions for us, to make sure we ran the tests appropriate to our individual private well. For us, medical issues prompted our doctor to recommend testing our well water. It turns out we had significant issues with our well water (bacteria and lead) despite the previous homeowner installing a UV light system and RO system several years ago. Unfortunately, they didnt know what they were doing with the installs, and replaced copper pipe with galvanized pipe, and failed to install the filtration systems correctly. In the process of drilling a new well now, and installing an all new Kinetico water system. We would have NEVER known these issues existed, had it not been for the top notch testing through TapScore, and all the helpful guidance and care provided by the TapScore customer service team.

Was very pleased with the service provided! I ordered the well test kit and it came in 2 days after ordering. The instructions were very easy to follow and understand. Sending the product back was very easy just drop it in the mail. The results took 10 days but were very thorough, it provided recommendations to fix the issues and said which ones were necessary to fix and which were ok to postpone. I sent the results to a well company and they asked where I got such a thorough test, I told them and said for a similar test it would be over $1,000… 5 times more. I’m going to order another kit to see if the products installed fixed the issues.

The reason for this score is the water tests are pretty expensive. However, the tests are easy to perform and the results are thorough. Once I received my results they are fairly simple to understand and if you struggle to interpret your results there is a team of folks ready to support any and all questions you may have.Would definitely recommend this water test to anyone interested in making sure their water is safe.

First time around, the assys arrived too late for testing. Problem with their dashboard not tracking and reporting a date when assays arrive in their lab for testing.Second time around the report was whacky. Things that I know are high (fe and mg) in my well water were not on their testing. Things that I know were not a problem (heavy metals) were highlighted in red on their report. I had to track down state upper limits for each to determine what was actually a problem and because it was so alarming, I had my water tested elsewhere. And there were no heavy metals in those reults.Be careful - you may be going down a rabbit hole uneccesarily.People that answer the phone are nice. The guy I dealt with about the heavy metal results was patronizing, defensive and beligerant.I cannot recommend, I can give them 2 stars because its an easy and convenient process. They need to work on everything else, though.

I just spoke with the Tap Score engineers on the phone -- first of all, awesome that they put kind, smart water chemistry PhDs and engineers on the phone, not just token customer service bots. Anyway, they did an amazing job all around. the test was easy, fast, and really really informative. They charged no extra money to spend 20 minutes on the phone with me and helped me pick out the right water treatment equipment for my home. this is a great service. if you have questions about your water and you can afford this $, i strongly recommend tap score. they score your water health out of 100 and then if you fall short, tell you how to get there affordably.

I have used this service twice now with two years in between testing. The companies testing and reporting is extremely thorough and trustworthy.Our first test two years ago showed no issues with our private well, which was very good news. However, as anyone knows, your water quality can change over time and our second test two years later showed trace amounts of arsenic! The water testing was very straight forward and easy to send the samples. The results were completed in a very timely manner and posted to the website with detailed information. I had questions and subsequent discussions with one of the technical reps. She was very helpful and informative. Simple Lab is a great idea but the execution and accountability is poor. We had a new well drilled and were not given sufficient instructions on best practices either in the instructions or via the support group. I clearly communicated that we had a new well and nobody at Simple Lab explained that we needed to run the well for over two weeks before testing the water. So our $375 test was a complete waste of time and money. I retested with a local lab and the results were completely different and didnt have many of the issues that Simple Lab said we did. I contacted Simple Lab and they said you should have ran it for multiple weeks and that they test the water they receive. No attempt to make up for the poor instructions or guidance, so we spent more than triple the original cost to get solid answers on our water. Again, Simple Lab is a good in concept but the execution and instruction is poor. They wont accept a phone call either, chat only. Just wish Simple Lab would have taken ownership of their bad instructions and issued a retest free of charge.

Obviously, we needed to know how to treat the various items that were found and even more importantly the vocabulary to use with our vendors! Cannot recommend Tap Score by Simple Lab enough. Their incredibly supportive staff helped navigate a very stressful situation with the water in our home. Thankful for the wide range of testing options offered as we could cover all our assessment needs within one company. We live in Arizona and everyone knows how bad Arizona water can be. We have a shared well and I am the manager of the well which requires the well water be tested yearly. The instructions for testing and mailing are really easy and the test results come fairly quickly. Kelly is awesome. She always answers my questions and concerns.

A big part of my decision to get testing with SimpleLab was the customer support. I ran the basic well water test and got good information about the mineral contaminants in the water. Be aware they don’t make it very obvious how to convert the units of measures to the ones that the EPA and others use. They also don’t indicate very clearly what’s dangerous and what isn’t. It isn’t hard to figure out after a little googling though. Very useful information!

I highly, highly recommend Tap Score (and its testing arm, Simple Lab) to anyone --- whether you suspect an issue with your water or, like me, are simply curious. I purchased the Advanced City Water Test and learned that my water contained some concerning contaminants and, with much help from Tap Score, I was able to completely address these issues. As other reviewers have noted, there were two aspects of testing with Tap Score that really stood out to me: (1) the multi-faceted and easy-to-digest results report, which is extremely thorough and yet easy to navigate, and (2) the exceptional help that Tap Score provides --- at no additional cost --- upon receipt of your results, as you begin the process of weighing treatment options based on your particular issues. Access to Tap Scores extremely informed and unbiased advice was truly indispensable because, while the test report does indicate the types of treatment options that are effective at addressing the issues flagged, comparing the relative efficacy and quality of different companies filters can quickly become quite confusing (and I found this to be the case even when there were relevant NSF/ANSI certifications that I could screen for and especially when evaluating POE filters for their ability to remove trihalomethanes, or THMs).I want to emphasize that I exchanged MULTIPLE emails with a Simple Lab employee as I weighed different filters and, at no additional cost, this employee --- who was lovely and so knowledgeable --- happily answered a series of questions and TRULY helped me navigate POE filters, such that I was able to select one with complete confidence that it would remediate my issues without including any unneeded features that would have only added unnecessary expense. I honestly couldnt believe the level of customer service and care this wonderful employee put into our exchange, and I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend Tap Score given the excellent experience I had with this company (and Ill also note that collecting the water samples is very straightforward and easy, so if you are like me and feel concerned that you might bungle that aspect of things, fear not!).

I have been working with TapScore about 4 years now. The company I work for uses them exclusively for water testing that is offered directly to our own customers which spans the majority of the United States. Since the beginning, they have been a pleasure to work with in regards to customer support and always bringing top quality products and services. The type of services we provide our customers requires a very active level of communication. I would like to say that TapScore is second to none in this category. They are quick to respond and always willing to accommodate our needs, no matter what. I have been in the position to offer insight to them based on customer experience giving my thoughts and suggestions which they have always been open to them and have been able to implement changes that ultimately has helped their customers overall. Amazing people.Super knowledgeable, and answered all my tedious questions.Spent a long time with them. They were very patient with me. I like that a lot. The report is very thorough from the many different angles of the data analysis compiled, and including beginning suggestions for filtration systems. I have a complex issue for extensive water contaminant determination and mitigation for a ranch house in Mexico. Simple Lab chat personnel, in particular John and Kate, are / were enormously helpful, knowledgeable and offered several different testing purchase plans, with applicable seasonal discounts - which i appreciate - since this is coming out of my own wallet. $250 cost for my Advanced Well Water test is well worth the money, given the extensiveness and readable data report they provide, and I can access the same information anywhere from my phone or computer indefinitely. I certainly plan on investing more money in other levels of water testing for the same location with Simple Lab.I completely recommend Simple Lab.They are my personal designated company for water analysis and testing.

After the results came back we found that was needed was a whole house UV system to kill bacteria. No more carting heavy bottles upstairs! This is year 3 for using Tap Score to evaluate my well water quality. The data resulting from their analysis has been consistent for the most part, but demonstrates some mild improvements in salinity scores.Year 3 SAR scores greatly improved. Closer inspection reveals that the SAR equation was mis-applied by Tap Score for the first 2 years, leading me to believe that crop problems were due to a calcium ratio issue. Year 3 analysis showed SAR TO drop dramatically. This lead me to identify chloramine levels as the thing to address as the primary problem. My trees are now happier as am.I.The best feature of TapScore site is the built in references to the impact of any parameter that may be less than ideal. With this information, I am able to better parse and address any issue affecting plant health. The information is making me better and the orchard is better for it. Fun!

I purchased the advanced city water test to test my home water (I live in a 100+ year old house in a formerly industrial city on the East Coast). The whole kit was super easy to use--just fill and send. I got my results back in a week.My test results were concerning: I had elevated levels of lead in my water and slightly elevated copper levels. My chlorine levels were no good either (these were measured directly in home with test strips that came with the package).Not feeling too great about my water, I called simplewater to ask what I could do to improve it. They were extremely nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. They went over my personal test results with me and spent a good amount of time discussing possible treatment options. I followed their advice and purchased an under-counter filter from aquasana, which I put in a few weeks ago and have been happy with.All in all, really easy-to-use product with great customer service. Absolutely would (and have) recommended to friends, and I plan to use again in the future to see if my water has improved.

He listened to my concerns and explained what tests he would recommend and why. We had our water tested for lead by Garden State Lab and found we had lead in our water, they recommended if we wanted further test that we should contact a local remediator for further testing of contaminates and PCAS/PCOS because they know what is in the water. I have been extremely anxious about the water and when I spoke to a local water remediator, I felt he was encouraging me to put in several systems without testing, this made me know I wanted an independent test. I purchased a Tap Score water test for my parents, who recently retired to a house in San Diego. Nothing about the water seemed unusual - it tasted and smelled fine - but I wanted to be sure my parents werent drinking anything harmful. We were SHOCKED when we got the Tap Score report back and learned that there is a lot of arsenic and a few other nasty contaminants in the water! They were all just under legal limits so that explains why the water utility isnt doing anything to remedy the situation.Getting the bad news was a bit overwhelming at first, but the customer support people were really helpful and easy to talk to. A team member spoke with us about our report and suggested several water treatment options. This was hugely helpful and I feel much much better knowing that my parents are now drinking water thats not going to compromise their health.
