This coffee shop is very inviting and it’s great to grab a cuppa coffee do some stuff on your laptop and then go onto your day or stay longer as they have Wi-Fi for you to do all your work.Overall a great place to be and it’s in just the right neighborhood for everybody too stop by. It’s a block away from Culver Boulevard and Sepulveda Boulevard on Sepulveda.

If you enjoy mid quality coffee, overpriced Costo croissants, and having sandwiches made by bare hands, this is the spot for you. Had to ask a staff member to put a glove on while preparing my sandwich. It was 7:30 AM, so not sure why it took over 15 minutes for this sandwich. The guy looked genuinely confused and maybe a little high.

I got an iced Hazelnut Latte. Coffee tasted great but I will definitely not return. There was only one person working at the counter and I sympathized with that so I waited for three people to get their order taken and drinks made before my turn. When it was my turn, the lady took my order went to the next two people and made their order before even starting mine. Either hire more staff or respect your customers time.

I ordered a hot vanilla latte (grande) and I paid $5.00 flat for it. I’m not a big coffee drinker but I enjoyed it. The atmosphere here is laid back and enjoyable. Lots of seating and space to play board games or do work.

We must have slipped thru the cracks. Asked for 2 bagels easy on the butter. For one bagel with a massive amount of dripping butter and one with cream cheese. The decaf coffee was cold. The cappucino was good. So one out of four items.

Friendly local coffee shopThe 3 star is solely based on the fact that they (owners) are having only one employee working duren morning shift ( I go between 7:30am-12) the employees are great but they need at least 2 people. Its fine if you are not on a time limit but heading to work cant wait 15-20 min for a coffee :(

Paid Tanner’s a visit this morning hoping to get in on a chess game. The cafe was vacant so decided to order a coffee and hang for a bit. Person working the counter was a flat liner, poured my coffee and slid it right over to me - no words, no smile, nada. May revisit to find a game. Coffee good though!

This place is cozy. Lots of character. Lots of seating; both indoors and outdoors. Its not a huge place but plenty of seating for its size. The staff is helpful. I had the mango lemon herbal tea. They helped me with the choice by breaking the flavor down. When I got sucked into my writing and forgot to pick up the cup, the owner came down to my table to give it to me. They have a mini library from where you can choose books to read. They also have a bunch of blendeds as they call it on the menu. Not sure what that is but seemed pretty popular just looking at the variety of choices in that category. Lots of chargers sprinkled around the wall and the seating intelligently ordered to be able to plug in easily. Easy to spend an afternoon here.

Tanners is the definition of the neighborhood coffee shop. Chess games are frequent here and can often get quite competitive. The Chess Club of Los Angeles meets here to run official USCF rated tournaments for all ages. Come by on a weekend between 12p-5p for unrated chess games, or after 5pm for USCF rated tournaments. If you want to play chess but dont feel ready for the tournaments, come by any other time and play one of the boards available inside the shop for patrons to play casually.

I liked the atmosphere here. It felt relaxed like I was in someone’s family room. I don’t find too many coffee shops like this anymore. My black drip coffee was solid and I was grateful that they had a gluten free flourless chocolate cake that I could eat. They also have dairy free smoothies. The unpretentious and welcoming atmosphere made it so I could forget about work for awhile and flip through a coffee table book.

I used to work at Tanner’s many years ago when I was in high school. They’ve been around a long time. A staple in the city.I haven’t been to Tanner’s in ages. It’s always nice to support the neighborhood coffee shop!I ordered a tea. I was surprised they didn’t have matcha and very limited tea options. They had one type of green tea. I stopped drinking coffee years ago. I was told they have two types of chai powder.As a future suggestion, I’d highly recommend investing in quality teas (loose and tea bags) as well as quality Japanese matcha powder as an alternative to coffee.I felt the menu was lacking and looked like it hasn’t been changed in years. I’d also recommend selling teas, loose leaf and tea bag options. I’m low on loose leaf tea and would’ve loved to purchase some tins to support Tanner’s.Just some food for thought. 😊Thanks! 🫶🏼

I had an unfriendly experience. People here stare at you when you walk in, and youre expected to know what you want right away. The person taking orders on Saturday, Sept 9 at 10 AM rushed me and continued to try to sell me on a Dirty Chai Latte even though I continued to say I dont want that. I didnt order anything and left because I felt overwhelmed. Some of us have social anxiety and dont respond well to this environment.

I’ve gone here for years and love it. BUT, the current weekend crew needs to do bagels correctly. They are not supposed to be served with a tablespoon of cream cheese. No, that might be correct for butter. Slather on the cream cheese please, don’t be cheap. And, don’t cut the bagel in half like a sandwich, it should be two whole halves. I’m sure I speak for others with this critique. Other than that, it’s a pleasant experience going there.

Fantastic way to start the day! Kenya and Ciela were super kind and welcoming when I came in around 9am. The shop has a laid-back, local feel with surfboards hanging on the walls and lots of homey touches, including several bookshelves and a chess table. They have free Wi-Fi, and there are plenty of seats, couches, and outlets. I ordered the daily special, a French roast coffee with a nice kick, and an egg & cheese breakfast sandwich that was cooked to perfection, especially the bagel. On my way out, Kenya handed me a Tanners pocket planner since it was my first time there. Made my day! Will definitely be back soon. If youre looking for a mellow spot to read, write, or work in Culver City, this is it.

Love how they still have customer service in a time when customer service is almost obsolete. Also, it is nice to see a real coffee house with couches and chairs as well as tables. The coffee, like with the other brand names, is not to cheap. However, it is worth it.

A pretty casual coffee shop with a fair assortment of coffees and baked goods. I just kept it simple and got an iced latte. Came in to do some remote work and Wi-Fi is strong. Ambience wise it’s laid back like a great uncles living room sort of vibe. Lots of people working on their laptops, chess tables, book shelves etc.They also had outdoor seating and bathrooms. People were sitting with their dogs at the outside tables.Street parking/metered parking nearby as well.

Tanners has a nice, non hip coffee shop vibe with tables inside and out. It’s a great cafe to get some work done, read, Or meet up with friends. The only thing for me is I think it’s too expensive for the quality but when I’m choosing a cafe to work at I also know it’s kind of like paying rent for the seat I take up. Service is always friendly!

Today I visited tanners coffee shop like I do everyday for my bagel and coffee the young lady with red hair I don’t know her name I walked in so didn’t acknowledge me so I stood there for 10 minutes I decided to leave and go to Taco Bell to get a coffee so I went back and asked her why she didn’t greet me as I walked in I felt discriminated so I said to her you didn’t greet me because I’m Mexican her response back to me was I’m half Mexican to I can give you a free drink I responded back to her said no thank you what bad experience I had today I never thought tanner would be racist

This coffee shop is quiet, cozy, and has relatively good wifi. The prices here are very fair and while there were a handful of people there I was able to get a great spot to sit and work. I had a latte which was the perfect pick me up. The music was a reasonable volume and while I would consider it more of a working environment Im sure during busier hours its a great social spot.

Cool atmosphere with really interesting surfboards on the walls with paintings of greek gods on them. They look like they would be really fun to ride! Tanners is a neighborhood gem that has some convenient parking in the immediate areas and a really relaxing vibe inside. On the weekends its got just the right amount of people to feel like theres some activity but not nearly crowded enough to make things unpleasant. Seating is plentiful and comfortable for the amount of space on this corner lot. The staff is lovely; the coffee, just as much so. Its a great place to sit with a laptop for a few hours and soak in the ambiance while trying to be productive. One of my favorite places to go in this area.

I finally had the time to stop by Tanners coffee shop, on Sepulveda Blvd today. Always drive by in a rush. I had to order to go but so glad I stopped. Such a nice spot. I had a toasted egg bagel with cream cheese and blended chocolate drink with coffee (i know its January but its hot today)... both were absolutely awesome. Ill be back to try something else. I love the environment here - quiet and studious, but there is still a low hum of music and espresso machines. I always get lots of work done here.I also love the drinks and food - the bagels are AMAZING! My only complaint is its a bit pricey, but its comparable to most coffee chains like Starbucks.EDIT: After coming here over the last few months, Ive learned that on Sunday mornings (late morning), there is usually a group of old men who loudly discuss their politics and loudly talk about things like wanting women to hit on them. They are no fun to be around and I keep leaving Tanners earlier than anticipated when they are here, so I suggest you come by at a different time.

As an iced mocha fiend, I’m on a quest for the best one in the LA area. After telling this to the barista (orange face mask working at 12:30), he made me an absolutely fantastic mocha! Quiet, dog-friendly cafe with free wifi. Theres always a seat close to an outlet - couldnt ask for more! There are couches for more comfortable hangouts, or desks/tables for actual study or focus. There is also an outdoor area on the sidewalk, and some spots also have electrical outlets.

Great spot to hang out and work. It does get crowded so good luck finding a seat, just get cozy next to a stranger. Good drink options, however, sometimes I feel the employees are overwhelmed and tired. Im accustomed to coffee shop small talk and you wont always get it here. So if thats your thing, youre good. I do welcome it sometimes so thats not a complaint, but an observation. The 4 stars is because sometimes it seems only one person is working and there is a bit of a wait.

Tanners is fantastic but when I went last Sunday they were out of bagels. While this seems like a normal thing, being a bagel and coffee shop I was quite disappointed. I will definitely return to the store and love the location and its employees but I hope they stock up on bagels in the future.I was really looking forward to my egg and cheese bagel sandwich!Still, I will be coming back!

The coffee is pretty good.Ice Coffee needs some love though....This place is a great stop if you are in Culver City.The interior can be a bit stuffy but if you can get past that, its a great dive coffee shop.They have another location in Playa Del Rey by the beach that is awesome.Its also nice to have a break from the corporate empire aka Starbucks. Ordered a cappuccino with soy milk. The barista mixed it up and used dairy milk but quickly apologized and remade it when I told her. The cappuccino was great and had a thick layer of fine froth. Only four stars because subbing nondairy milk was $1 (it’s usually $.50-.60 at other places which is bad enough) and there are no vegan pastry options. Love the vibe and furniture layout and there is outdoor seating.

Tanner’s is a staple of the surrounding neighborhoods. If your new to the area and want to meet the locals or fellow transplants - make it your regular coffee shop. Great place to get some work done, read a book, or play some board games or video games. There’s a consistent chess community that’s friendly and open to all skill levels. The register kept going back and forth checking on stock so it made the order ahead of me go incredibly slow. there was only one barista who was skilled - but she was backed up and could’ve used some support. My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Tanners Coffee on our interview date.Not so hidden on the Sepulveda Strip of Culver City lies Tanner’s Coffee Co. Proudly known as the city’s oldest coffee shop, its warm and welcoming exterior of classic brick and bright umbrellas helps it to stand out against the muted neutrals of the surrounding shops in the vicinity. When you walk through the doors, you feel like you’re witnessing how Tanner’s looked when it debuted with its retro surf decor and vibrant color palette. However, given its exuberant interior and somewhat cramped indoor seating arrangements there is still a sense of homeliness that makes you comfortably want to spend the whole day there curled up with your favorite book, playing chess, or catching up with a friend.Whether you’re looking for a worldly brew or an eclectic tea selection, Tanner’s has you covered. I actually had trouble deciding on whether or not I wanted to go with a South American roast or a fruity black tea from how extensive their list was. The Tropical Iced Black Tea was my jam in the moment and let’s just say that I was woken up within the first few sips. Being that Tanner’s is in my own backyard I can absolutely see myself becoming a regular there in the very near future. I’m definitely ready to embrace their slogan “Meet me at Tanner’s!”

Maybe I just came in at a bad time or a bad day. My experience here was very uncomfortable it apparently bordered the girl at the counter by the questions i asked of what was on the menu or pastries. I look over my shoulder and a few people had taken notice of how I was treated. Made me feel very ashamed. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. The consumer should take notice that the foundation of any business is customer service.

Okay coffee on Valentines DayStill trying to recover from my disappointment with Two Guns yesterday, I was greeted yet again today with bad coffee; well it wasnt truly bad, but it wasnt great either. Hanging around west today, I visited Tanners Coffee Co. in Culver City per Yelps 4-stars and 274 reviews of the place. What could go wrong, right? Burnt iced latte, apparently! The sign by the registered said they were brewing Peruvian beans for their lattes. Now, Ive been to Peru and have had lattes there and believe me, this tasted nothing like it! Unfortunately, this just didnt hit the spot for me. My coffee-partner-in-crime ordered a blended mocha, which he seemed to enjoy. I took a sip of it myself, and felt there was way too much chocolate- it might as well have been a chocolate blended drink.If you dont mind the okay coffee, the venue itself is a place where you can bring your laptop, enjoy their wifi, and hang out on one of their seating arrangements. They also have a few games you can play while youre there- I noticed chess and dominos. You can also find used books scattered around the place- for your enjoyment while you sip on your coffee.

Tanners is quirky, fun and something I wouldnt think id find in Culver City. Theres plenty of seating all around, outlets and free wifi making it a great place to study or work for a bit. I find that I cant stay there as long as other places, but their drinks are really enjoyable, with more tea selections than most places. Street parking can be kind of a pain, but usually not too difficult
