Very calm and pacefull place to rest, nature smalls amazing, ideal if you have bikes. People very friendly, big swimming pool and planty of big hot tubs. I will come back

What a wonderful gem of a place this was. We stayed for two nights with partial hookups and wished we had time for more nights to fully explore the area. The trails system is nice, but they need better (readable) maps. We loved the fact that they had a disc golf course, but disappointed that the installation was not complete; there were no marked tees (visible), no course map, and the baskets were not numbered.The botanical garden was fun to visit and see all the plants beginning to bloom.

We enjoyed staying at Sycamore Grove, it was easy to get there from the freeway, most of the sites are shady and large. All the trees are big and beautiful, it has some fantastic walking trails too. There is also a group camping area nearby ( for large groups) they have cabins, a couple of covered areas with picnic tables and BBQS and a nice area/ amphitheater with a large concert campfire area. There is no sewer or dump so you can go nearby to the fairgrounds or if youre an Elks member they are nearby.

Park could be better than it is. The sites are tiny if you have a rv bigger than 30 ft. Ours is 36 and the website says big rig friendly, it is not. We could barely fit our rv in our campsite without parking it in the trees. Also super low hanging branches around the whole park so when you are driving in they will scratch down your rv the whole time. The bathrooms are pay to shower, but they are disgusting, womens bathroom had used pads and panty liners on the floor of the bathrooms and showers, disgusting. The trash was always piling up outside of the dumpsters onto the ground, food all over the ground and the garbage company would not pick it up. We had dogs run up to ours off leash. Lots of homeless people in the parking lot next to the campground where you will have to park your car if you have a bigger rig. Also there is no dump station, and if you need to dump you have to drive to the KOA and pay to use theirs or find somewhere else. Just isnt worth it. The park could be a lot nicer but it needs better management. Only reason there are two stars is, the paved hiking trails are nice and the campground is beautiful.

I was so lucky to find this great campground. It was already dark when I realized I was not going to make it to the place I had pre booked farther down the road. My impromptu search led me to this jewel of a place. The ability to complete a real time reservation on my phone was so wonderful. It worked well and I had the best night sleep in months in my cozy little tent. Woke in the morning to get a full view of the campground in daylight and I can’t wait to plan my next visit. The restrooms were clean and pleasant to use. I don’t have a dog but saw several while there and it’s good to know our canine kids are welcome.

Week before Mother’s Day - 2024. At the time of our stay there is no host on duty. The only real issue that created for us is that the bathrooms didn’t get attended to daily, and some couldn’t figure out where to get the bathroom code. And the reason only 4 stars. The lights stay on all night in the restrooms so even when the USFS came through on Tuesday and Friday to clean and restock the bathroom felt kind of gross from the gnats and other bugs that found their way in but couldn’t find their way out. We arrived at sundown on Sunday and there was no toilet paper, soap or paper towels until Tuesday afternoon. We’re used to boon-docking so we were prepared.We had wanted to use the showers but opted not to since it just felt a little too buggy.Absolutely no lighting at night which is nice, unless you’re coming in late.We had events in Redding all week, about a 40 min drive, so we didn’t get to enjoy the beautiful grounds enough. Lots of birds and shade.Site 13 is the host site, directly across from the restrooms. I would opt for a back in site over a pull though as they are right on the road, but are good enough. You can hear the train, but only once at night. It felt kind of homey somehow.

Im shocked with the little amount of stars this place got! This place is perfect in every way! Super friendly staff! Beautiful native flower garden with descriptive labels to take romantic walks through! Clean bathrooms and even a shower where $0.25 last! Right next to the Sacramento River to explore! Perfect campgrounds and RV spots! It even has a frisbee golf course going all the way around! We had to drop the trailer for the day before we decided to grab a camping spot, they let us park the trailer in their parking lot. We couldnt have been happier to bump into this spot.

I must return! This campground has nice level spots, some pull-through. The park has trails for miles to walk the dog. Theres a nice arboretum with an amazing array of plants. You are right next to the river and dam and a now defunct fish ladder. Beautiful trees and our campsite even had a Sakura tree in bloom. On the way out, we even saw a Frisbee-golf course.

This place beautiful lots of shade and very close to the water. the only problem had was this place should not advertise as kid friendly. The camp host is extremely rude to children when parents are not around but will not address the parents directly and if she is asked she is just aggressive and will not give you a chance to speak. I will not pay money even it is inexpensive to have the cops called on me because my tire is on the grass. This place is going to get a bad name just because this woman wont get if if her hight horse. Im sure other people have the same opinion but I have no problem letting people with children know what they will be walking into with this camp grounds. I will e putting a complaint in against this host.

Its extremely open and feels more like a day use picnic area than a campground. Its in a young grove of oak trees that provide a decent amount of shade but no privacy. Campsites are practically on top of each other. The bathrooms are locked and you need a code to enter. They were clean the first day we got here but after 3 days, they have not been cleaned or restocked. There are flush toilets and coin operated showers and roaches in the sinks.Its dog friendly and Ive had no complaints about my 4 dogs but they definitely need to be leashed here. There are tons of ground squirrels that drive the dogs crazy and their holes in the ground make walking around challenging. There are also tons of flies and wasps. Dont plan on cooking here, we were swarmed by wasps as soon as we took our camp stove out every time. The camp host is also rude and unwelcoming, asking us multiple times about our reservations and how long we are staying. He and the park ranger seem to be buddies and drive around all day eyeing you down.Okay spot to sleep in a pinch or if you have an RV. I would not stay here again.

The campground itself is nice aside from mostly smaller sites and not too much privacy. The trees are beautiful, lots of grass, and its close to the river. There are trails to hike.The downside is the noise from outside of the campground. Theres some kind of industrial building close by and there a noise like a jackhammer in the distance, all day and night, every 5 seconds (literally). The train also passes through nearby a couple times per night.Price: standard tent: $16. Electric and water: $25. Group site: $30. As of mid-September.Bathrooms: clean, one has dry toilets and the other has flush toilets with quarter-operated showers.While I wouldnt stay here for a weekend (due to the noise) it was fine for a place to stop for the night while passing through. You can bring some earplugs. :)

This campground is a decent place to stay when traveling. I would not call this place a destination, but merely a stopover when traveling North or South along I-5. The campground is far enough from the interstate that traffic noise is minimal. Some sites have power and water. No dump station (Red Bluff RV Park $10 to dump). Paved walking trails are nice.

Stayed here in September on a Saturday night then a Tuesday night, on our way from the Bay Area to Bend, OR & back. The campground was maybe 1/3 full. Both nights were peaceful and great. Lots of trees and shade. Highway 5 and railroad noise noticeable but not annoying, we slept well. For $16 its a good deal, but the extra $8 booking fee charged by recreation.gov (its a federal recreation area) makes it a little less cost-effective. Exploring the now-defunct fish ladder and dam/lock was cool, and its a very large park area, with hiking/biking trails for miles. We stayed in site 30 and 31, liked them both.

Great campground. One shower had a sign that said the water doesn’t get hot so I used that one and the water was fine. Guessing a jokester tried to reserve a shower with trickery.Other camper was the only problem: alarm horn went off five or six times throughout the night. Was really not cool.

The best part was our host, Mary. The bathrooms were clean. Campsites are large and clearly marked. Beautiful scenery and easy access to Mt. Lassen were huge reasons to book here. The campground is close to the city and the amenities of the city.Reasons this place is not a 5:Other campers were disrespectful. Our first night, the site behind us started setting up their tents after quiet hours and continued to pass through our site. The second night, we came back from Lassen and there was another vehicle in our reserved campsite, trying to take our site.There also was no soap in the bathroom. The campground is close enough to the city to hear the train and the emergency vehicle sirens going through town.

Selected this campground because it was close to I-5, had electrical and showers. The setting is very nice with many shaded campsites. Electrical at my site was broken so I moved to another site. The shower house was horrific.. dirty, smelly and mildewed. They actually require a code to get into it. I had reserved two nights. I left after the first night. The campground host had piles of stuff laying around. The camper next to me said one of the campsites was permanently occupied by people that harass other campers, had been there months and refused to leave.

Its conveniently located if you are about to explore lassen national park. It has other things you would want. Nice boat watch to the sacramento river. Its relatively quiet. The facilities do need a bit of an upkeep.

Great hidden little gem. Be aware that while the non electric sites are $16 you are also charged a $9 reservation fee. I stayed a New Hogan and it lists at $20 a night and you are charged $20 a night. If Sycamore Grove wants $24 a night it should list for $24. I get that $9 isnt much these days but if you stay 2 days at $9 extra well my math says thats another night at this beautiful spot. Just saying. Camp host is attentive and I appreciate that. All in all great facilities clean well kept grounds and a hot shower!! Win win!!

I stayed for four days here. Arrive before 10pm or be locked out despite having a gate code (reservations). I had to rent a hotel the first night as the ca.reservation.gov website made no distinction between a closed gate with code lock, versus a locked gate with hard time of entry. The code was effectively useless.So be sure to arrive before 10pm.Also, bring a n95 mask for the porta-potties, as the normal public bathrooms are closed off.Area is lush in grass and walking trails are alright though privacy is near non-existent. Many campsites were empty despite the foot traffic. Mosquitoes are a consistent nuisance out there but I did not encounter hornets as others describe when I started grilling or prepping.Camp host was polite and drives by your campsite on golf cart; at least makes a round of the sites about 4-5 times a day to my witness. I would definitely visit on a day trip for the shore, but I will pass on staying the night again.

Beautiful old-growth trees, quiet but close to town, river access, lots of walking trails.-2 for locating the park maintenance area within the campground. Who’s bright idea was it to place it there? It’s ugly and I get to hear them hammering and drilling all day while looking at chain link, vehicles, and metal buildings instead of enjoying the beautiful park.

Far enough from the interstate to be fairly quiet. Showers have combination lock the host occasionally changes the combination to. Some sites have electricity, most dont Most sites are well shaded. Beautiful, clear Sacramento River is a stones throw away and there is access. In addition to the host, there is also a Forest Service post at the south end of the campground. So its well patrolled. The nature center at the entrance has displays of local wildlife, fish migration, etc. Theres also a native plant nursery next to it with plants labeled. The reserve you drive through on way to the campground (a dead-end road) has trails where I saw two bucks and a do standing in the meadow. Lots of rare birds. Watch for snakes if you hike around though. Fortunately this jewel is close to the town of Red Bluff so if there is any need for emergency service, its right there. All in all a beautiful nature preserve on the upper Sacramento River. Some terrific bike trails- the kids will love it.

*Please like!Nice place to camp in Red Bluff, Mendocino National Forest. The campsites are all on the grass, some under trees but theres not much separating each site from another. So if your neighbors are noisy or have a bunch of kids then you will hear them.Theres a fire pit, BBQ and picnic table for each site. Some sites have hookups for water and electricity for an extra fee.Regular campsites are $16 and can only be paid online with a debit or credit card through Recreation.Gov.They DO NOT accept CASH here.There is an onsite host 24/7 who is a little rough around the edges but overall is pretty good at communicating with campers and keeping the grounds maintained.Bathrooms for men and women w/showers .25 for 4 minutes.Hot and cold water.The river is close by and boat launch. There are a couple of trails to walk and check out all of the neat birds that migrate to the area. We found some awesome wild blackberries growing along the paths.It is very hot all day and all night. We stayed in July. It is definitely not a place to camp to get away from people but it is nice if you want to mingle with other campers. DOGS are welcome.

I dont think theres any way to check in. Sites are kind of unclear and only some of the bathrooms are flush. The flush bathrooms were really clean and theres plenty of shade at many of the spots. We will likely come back soon.

This is a great campsite well kept and nice. The posts about homeless people were actually people from the PARADISE Campfire. They were graciously given spaces for them and what little they had left. They were in fact “homeless” because their home burned down.This camp ground is very nice and deserve to have their bad reviews deleted.

The campground was nice. Lots of shade in some sites and grass. Some sites have pull through a and some have electricity/water hookups. No dumping station. Bathrooms appear to be cleaned every other day, alternating Men’s and Women’s. Showers were one quarter for a few minutes. Pressure was ok. Could have used a cleaning, but not filthy.There were what appeared to be quite a few homeless people staying there. Probably 1/3 to 1/2 of the sites.

Sink was covered in bugs. toilet paper was all over the place, cobwebs everywhere, and the showers had globs of hair pushed to the side.Ive been traveling across country for almost 3 months. Sadly, this has become a less-than desirable spot in the past couple of years. Although it is a beautiful campground along the Sacramento River, it has become mostly a place for homeless folks to live. They game the reservation system so they never leave, just move from campsite to campsite. Very few spaces occupied by folks passing thru, like us. The camp host doesnt really seem to care, or has no power, not sure which.

Wish I could give it no stars. Keep driving. This was supposed to be a stopover in a long drive to Oregon. I stopped, then kept going. So they got to keep my $24 reservation fee. When I arrived folks were hanging out at my reserved site. Lots of homeless and sketchy characters. I did not feel safe. There is no privacy. I kept driving and found a lovely site a few towns away. This is super sketchy, I should have read the reviews on Yelp! Youve been warned!

For a campground that could be quite nice it appears homeless have moved in. This is supposedly a reservation only and 14 day stay. There are tent camps that appear to have been here way longer than 14 days. We are afraid to leave our motorhome unattended. We will not recommend unless changes are made.An update to my review. Apparently the park security were aware of the homeless camps in this campground and the people were asked to leave and they have. This is a problem in this area but it is being worked on. Because of this the campground is by reservation only. It is so sad, I must say, to see so many homeless in this area. Home ownership is out of the question and rents are much too high!! Drugs are a serious issue!!This is not a destination campground but a nice stop just off Interstate 5.

So far, its been lovely! Obviously hot in July but only about 10 minutes from Red Bluff and 2 from the beautiful lake! The lake has a few very pretty flower and trees trail that Im sure is gorgeous in the spring.

The best campsite! Has great, super clean bathrooms. Always stocked, with electric outlets. Many of the sites have their own electric and water of course. The site was all cleaned up. You cant ask for much more! The sites are a little close together. You can hear everyones conversations. But no way near as bad as some sites south of here. All together a great spot for the money. Completely worth 40 bucks for two nights. Oh- dont forget to make your reservations online!

This place was not what I expected. Our original campsite smelled absolutely awful. Was next to the restrooms, but it was as if the sewage was coming up through the ground (there was no smell in the actual bathroom). Reservation was moved to another site, but not one with the electricity that er paid for. We were settled in between two sets of people who lived there, along with their cat that constantly came to us wanting food. The people in charge of the camp were quite rude to us on more than one occasion. I will definitely NEVER camp there again, nor will my friends and family...and will also never reccomend to a complete stranger.

My husband and I stayed last weekend as we have stayed many times in the past several years... this time we had a newer 5th wheel and as we drove in, saw that if branches were not trimmed (they were extremely overgrown over the roads) it would have caused major damage to our rv. My husband asked John, the host, who is supposed to maintain this?and was told by John that it wasnt his job... so my husband trimmed many trees to be able to drive in without any damage. He called the ranger, Loren Everest, and informed him of this issue and while talking to him about it, Loren was laughing (not sure why he found this funny?) and told my husband that it was maintained.... it is not! He also said if we trimmed any more trees that he would call law enforcement. We trimmed more before we left so we could get out safely... pulled all of the debris off of the road and away from any occupied campsites, it looks much better now and everyone should be able to drive in without damaging their rvs. We probably wont be back here though because although there is a host, they do not offer any help if you were to need it, sometimes they arent even around, a lot of the electrical is out at different times but you dont know this ahead of time when making a reservation. It also is looking like a long term location for either homeless or full time rvs that are living there, not traveling.

SycamoreGrove campground has become a home away from home. As survivors of the camp fire in Paradise CA we found a sense of peace here. The grounds are well kept, bathrooms/showers are always clean and the host and his wife are just so compassionate and helpful. He takes pride in his position here. We have always felt very safe with his security of the grounds and he keeps a very friendly atmosphere. Thank you Mr. camp host and Martin, for everything!

This was at one time the Sacramento river drag boat racing home. Much like the fare grounds raised kits to win tire track has changed.Both places get my vote water is cold dogs love it. Wonderful trails made for all to enjoy. One night camping gate is locked at 10 pm. Number of sites is low bag it or in your home on the road. Small town but a wonderful place to explore. Just the other night we got to see the moon rise between peek of mt.lassen .the biggest moon rise i have seen on west coast. Thank you all for letting me share.

I guess we lucked out. The host was a friendly, nice lady who greeted us and was helpful. The only downside was that the park gate closed at 10pm and we were returning at 10:20pm. It was a 3/4 miles walk to the camp... and I hated the thought of disturbing the host.But I have no complaints at all. Lovely setting near the river--could easily be a weekend destination or a longer term place for serious RV folk. For us, it was a one nighter that had spots and was cheap. It was a stopover on the way to Oregon but, I will remember this and come again.Oh, and eat at the homey riverside dive bar with great pizza from a brick oven. And the best calzone Ive ever had. Im a foodie. Rs Locker--I would drive hours out of the way to go to this sports bar again. Kids loved it. Just 10 minutes from camp too.

Very serene and quiet. A park-like setting next to the decommissioned Red Bluff Diversion Dam and fish ladder on the Sacramento River. There were not many campers on the day we were there (Tuesday/Wednesday). There is a garden with native plants and a visitor center staffed with very friendly people next to the campground. The only downside is the constant hiss of a vaccum release from the paper mill across the river every 5 seconds (really, I timed it).

This is a local jewel of a resource for enjoying camping at a national park in our own back yard. From the well maintained facilities to the diligent staff, we are blessed to have this campground in our town. From camping out to going fishing or Taking your boat out, this has it all. Free parking and boat ramps and clean restrooms, a souvenir shop, the camp ground has bathrooms and coin operated showers that last long enough to finish before the water shuts off. Fire pits, you can throw up a tent or bring a fifth wheel, and while theres a little life when the campfires roar and your enjoying your favorite barbecue, it gets real peaceful and beatiful especially on a star filled night. Whether your a visitor or a local, this is a secret treasure that I visit regularly.

I wouldn’t suggest anyone staying at this campground. The area is overran with homeless and transients. The host site looks like a dump. We packed up and moved to the KOA like others who’ve left reviews and it was a great decision. I’d rather burn $30 then have to stay at this campground. Should be called the sycamore grove shelter.

Could have been a lovely little park. Hiking was awesome. SITE great except grass not mowed much. BUT there have been homeless here, drugs and constant in and out of young people who curse and yell. We reported twice already within 6 days and we wanted to stay 2 weeks. (We prepaid) Not sure we will stay. No host either. So sad. Neither my husband or me feel safe here.

The worst camping experience my family has ever had. My kids & I were scared, so we moved to another spot and it was just as bad. I dont think we will ever forget this awful experience, which is sad because it is a decent location. Bathrooms very dirty, host was responsive to us moving & appologized. But the homeless in one area were drunk and using other peoples electrical outlets. In both areas there was fighting, arguing & cursing (some definately on drugs). My husband and I camped here this last weekend July 13th and July 14th. It was the worst camping experience we have ever encountered! The camp host and his area is very slumish, he was rude! We were in site 24. And it smelled of sewer so bad we had to move. The parking area for two cars per site is not even big enough for two small cars. There are numerous drug addicts, drug dealers and homeless that stay in sites 21, and 23. We were immediately told by one druggy that we were too load and woke him up and that we blew it . All weekend we could not leave our site to even go for a walk or enjoy the Sacramento river. We watched the camp host on several occasions hanging out with the druggies. Late night on saterday the 13 the we had witnessed 3 different cars pull up exchange money for meth then leave! We packed up and left our site the next morning! The camp host needs to be fired asap and drug enforcement need to come in and ride them all from Thais camp ground!

Convenient little campground right off the I5. Stayed one night but upon arrival the bathrooms were locked with a combination and I was not given the code in my reservation email only a gate code that did not work on the bathroom In the morning I woke the host up to ask about the bathroom lock and he said he changes it all the time which is why they do not give the bathroom code out when you make a reservation. Beware of this issue.

As another reviewer mentioned, a little noisy. But not too bad.Just remote enough to feel next to nature instead of parked in a sardine can. Adjacent to the Sacramento River, and theres a cool little botanic garden on the grounds too. Sites are shady and reasonably spaced, surrounded by grassy areas.For folks who need hookups - - $16 per night including some pull-throughs. Thats pretty much un-matched in our experience.

DO NOT STAY HERE. We stopped in overnight just to take a break from our long drive. Campsite was smaller than expected. Showers were paid which is not mentioned anywhere on the contract or website so we did not get to shower. The bathroom was so disgusting there were womans tampons and pads all over the floor because of the overflowing garbage and there was feces on the floor of the womens bathroom. We will never stay here again.

Sites are in great condition, nicely spaced out. They even provided a bit of firewood. Only sad bit was the previous site visitor left cigarette butts and some food scraps that attracted yellow jackets. Once we disposed of them all was well.

Pretty decent spot for being so close to the freeway. Awesome bird watching and neat trails around. Big shade trees in the campground and lots of oaks everywhere. BYO soap for the bathrooms.

This park is such a pleasant place to go. No homeless people bugging you for money or cigarettes. Mostly people that go to this park are coming here to fish as there is a boat ramp. And in the summer it is very active here. Lots and lots of fishermen and people picnicking.

Looked like a decent park. But the RESERVATIONS ONLY billboard that greeted us upon entry in the end drove us away. As full-time Rvers (12 years) we stay in a lot of Federal Parks, mostly USFS and COE. We rarely make reservations. At Sycamore Grove (ignoring the silly sign) we pulled into a site that read OPEN, and walked around the park to meet the hosts, per instructions for those arriving without reservations. There we were told that despite being parked in a open site, and despite the fact that the campground was pretty much empty, we had to call in a reservation and pay a $10 fee.to do so. Plus the fee for our site; $22 I think it was. But by then it didnt matter. We left and moved to a private campground in town.

This is a beautiful and used to be inexpensive campground. It has now been overrun by the local homeless tweakers and the forest service has decided to make it a reservation only campground so it is now a place to bypass. Last time we stayed here I was very uncomfortable and that was it for me. Keep on going for someplace else, this is unsafe now.

Highway, industrial rock or log crushing all night right next to campground. Early morning some sort of high volume industrial dryer whine running on other side of camp for hours. Pretty, but cant sleep unless you have a well insulated camper or are hard of hearing. None in my party slept. Hot shower and toilets for 16. Wolfson bridge was 31 for night...way too high for state park tenting with family....but it was quiet and wish we had been able to afford. .

Sycamore grove is the worst campground i have ever camped at.in fact its not even a campground,its more of a dayuse park that was converted into a campground and is definitely not worth the 16$ a night.Lets start with the campsite itself.the sites here are so small that your basically 2 feet from all neighboring campsites which gives you no privacy at all.the sites are filthy ( my firepit was full of fast food containers and cigarette butts dirty bandaids) and theres so many wasps, bees,and flies that make it impossible to cook anything at your site without being constantly attacked by bugs.the bathrooms here are locked with a number code that your not given in the conformation reciept and so your forced to ask the fat hillbilly redneck host to give you the code as he gives you dirty looks.bathrooms are disgusting and only cleaned by the lazy slobs that work here once a week.there is also no soap in the bathroom.The host that works here is very unwelcoming and does absolutely nothing all day but ride around on a golf cart harrassing the campers.last night at 8pm the host rudely rolls up in a golf cart shining lights all over my site asking me for my conformation receipt for the second time in one stay. The host is a bored loser that instead of cleaning and filling the large holes allover the property created by moles digging up the ground,hes standing there with the 3 other rednecks that work here talking loudly and setting off sprinklers for 2 hours straight.Long story short,the scumbag host and his wife act like these campgrounds are their property in their backyard,do and work on absolutely nothing,live there for free and hate when campers come to use the sites.the way this host is living here for free and abusing the position of host makes me sick. I would rather die than stay another night at sycamore grove campground

This place is perfect one in a pinch. You can make a reservation online, they have showers, and there’s a bunch of food options literally down the street so if you have to make a stop it’s cheaper than the motels around and you can spot some wildlife

Tell me, how can have a vacation with your husband and the so called HOST and his girlfriend yell and fight. During the day, and in the middle of the night? How ? How can you have quality time when the HOST lets drug addicts lay out their sleeping bags in practically your yard, because he knows them?????? How do you use a bathroom when it only gets cleaned twice a week? No soap to wash your hands? Geez, I kept putting soap in there, Flies??? Never in my life.....!!! Cant walk along the grounds, Big holes made by muskrats, and other underground critters. Twisted my ankle....geez!!! Had to go the hospital....all in all, worse place! May something be done about this problem campsite. Thank you
