Wonderful community museum featuring rotating displays on local history. Free entry and a nice gift shop featuring local and California related books and some local manufactured goods. Ettl Hall and the Rose Garden are a plus for parties and events!

Beautifully done museum including wonderful artifacts and antiquities displaying local culture, farming history, the Punjabi community and much more. Ettl Hall is avaliable to the community for rent and is a good size which includes a rose garden. There is a little store in the museum that has unique local jewelry, many different books and fun collectibles! Definitely worth stopping by.

Small but interesting museum with rotating displays that highlight, little known and local history to offers better than average historical view of the area. The gift shop is a treasure trove of local artist, often in the theme of the current temporary display, for instance, the current display, up until May this year, is about the Japanese Internment, the gift shop includes ceramics from a local artist of various rice bowls with chop stick holders built in, or the mother of a local makes origami dragon earrings. They also have extensive book offerings, both art books and informative books about the current display on many of the Internment camps, as well as peoples personal experiences with the internment, or the history of the area including each small town in the area. A great reminder that California is much more than just Hollywood, beaches, and San Francisco and really fun to discover.

Went for another nice event at our lovely museum. Theyve done a wonderful job with making the culture of our area known. Its a great place to have events. But they do need more benches for seating.

We went there to pickup our library books and found out that the museum is now open. We were able to explore the museum for the first time since covid. What a wonderful experience! Such a beautiful secret location in Yuba City!

One of the most sincerely open and honest looks at the atrocities of history, while still being fascinating and informative. The permanent displays are beautiful and touching. The large park grounds are shady and nice. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

This museum might be small and kind of tucked away but it can fool this place is amazing having a lot of historical and antique items that paint a clear picture of the Sutter Counties past. It also expands into the cultures that have came here over time. They also have galleries going on and keeps it interesting.

FREE! There is no admission so you cant go wrong by stopping at this well curated and interesting Museum.There is an exceptional exhibit detailing the cultures that migrated and influenced the area including the Hmongs, Chinese, Sikhs, Japanese, and Mexicans. I highly recommend stopping by for a visit.The Director, Jessica Hougen and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Nicely done and well run. The staff is helpful and knowledgable. They also have a small section in the back that describes the history of the Sikh settlement in the area going back 100 years.

If you are interested in local history - Native Americans, agriculture, early settlers - then this is the place to visit. The exhibits are professionally presented and the staff will answer just about any question a person might have about the Yuba-Sutter area. They also bring in temporary exhibits from the Smithsonian and other museums in the U.S. and California. Your kids will love the Indian baskets and the scenes of daily life. They also have exhibits devoted to Americans of Punjabi, Chinese, Japanese, and Hmong descent. A sign stated that a permanent exhibit on Mexican-American culture in Sutter county would open soon. When I walked in a man behind the counter said Welcome to your museum. I felt very welcomed.

Great little spot to get out of the heat and see interesting exhibits featuring locals and global artist. I came for Fridas gardens exhibit. It was lovely and the exhibits are free. They gladly accept donations.

We went to the grand reopening and the kids had some fun and there was some good food! I loved seeing the exhibits in there that represents the different cultures we have here in Yuba City and the Frida exhibit was very nice.

This is a local gem, wonderful historical museum and different rotating exhibitions too. They are always updating the displays so you can come by and see something new every few months. Stop in and check it out!

It was interesting to see some of the exhibits related to the native americans in the area and history of the agricutural develpment. They have an entire section devoted to Lewis and Clark which is confusing because according to the route Sutter County has nothing to do with the expedition.I believe Yuba City and Sutter County in general needs to promote more advertising of the museum through local businesses. Perhaps even add even more local military history if they work together with the private military museum right outside the front gate at Beale AFB. The American Legion might be able to get involved too.It may be a small museum but it also has alot of potential for growth. There is alot of history in this area and its a shame the museum doesnt show it. Thats of course at the fault of the museum once again for the lack of advertising but also lack of support from the public. Perhaps more devolopment of their website to promote more to the newer generation.

This is an excellent local museum, but when I last visited in early May 2019, it was undergoing some renovation and many of the exhibits were in boxes. I was told that it would soon be reconstructed.
