This restaurant is so good! I’ve never eaten here but I’ve gotten food to go and had it delivered a few times. I ordered on Postmates and I love the set up! I like to customize my sushi a lot; add cream cheese etc. And usually you have to write in a request and cross your fingers that the restaurant will see it. But here there were actual buttons to add items or leave them out or even request the roll deep fried. It’s so cool!The Ramen and Dumplings are delicious. And I love the Dragon Roll. It has a really yummy smoked flavor. I definitely can’t wait to try more things!

This is my favorite sushi place of all time. The food is amazing every time and I love the ambiance. The servers are always so nice and accommodating. Its a great place to bring my toddler because they have movies playing which keeps her entertained and she loves the food too. The pricing is extremely reasonable and absolutely cant be beat for the quality you get. My favorite is the lemon cilantro roll but weve tried a lot of things on their menu and everything has been great.

Support your local business! Food are good. Although, it seems like there are a lot of selections, there are actually very similar with a little twist. The Miso Butter Mac N Cheese was great. I live the yoga roll. Will definitely stop by again.

Friends recommended as they come here often. We finally stopped in on a Sunday night.The decoration was cute. AC was really strong. Fish was fresh. Truffle macaroni was tasty. Service was a bit slow. Food took some time to come out.One issue we had. We have 4 people. They gave as one small condiment dish of wasabi and ginger. We had to request a few time for additional wasabi. Probably won’t go out of our way to go there again when there are a couple sushi restaurants in my neighborhood.

The BLOOD ORANGE YELLOWTAIL ROLL was delicious! It sounded so interesting I just had to try it. The orange is sliced super thin and it just adds delicious, unique flavor.The ANDERSONS ROLL was good (shrimp tempura - crab - spicy tuna - spicy aioli - sweet glaze).I also tried the KIMCHI BACON FRIED RICE and was surprised how much I liked it. The Melon Cream soda was good too.It is cute inside, very clean, comfortable and the staff is great. If you haven’t eaten here I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

We were on no carb diet so its nice to have an option of no rice sushi here. Ninjet rolls were very satisfying but yoga roll was bit sad... overall food was good.The service was not so great. one of the server was not very friendly or helpful. we had to ask soysauce like 3 times and went to go grab it ourselves at the end. It was good nothing exceptional and the wait was 40min on Thur so I prob wont come back...

Had the single best piece of fish in my entire life last night! My wife and I came here last night to celebrate a special occasion. I ordered the Chefs Choice, basically whatever he wanted to make me. The meal started with sashimi of Spanish Maceral. It was an entire fish, served sliced with the carcass and head fried. Both the sashimi and the meat that was in the fired head were amazing. But... then came sashimi from the belly of a female Japanese Amber Jack. It was presented in a beautiful rose shape. The Amber Jack was sweet and luxuriously unctuous beyond any fish I had ever had. The fattiness was unbelievable and gave it a mouth feel like no other fish I have had. It made blue fin tuna belly seem like ordinary fair. It made what most places sell as Hamachi, seem like trash fish. It was so insanely good that it made a special night... unforgettable. I was also treated to fried female capelin that still contained their roe. Fabulous little treats. Grilled American Maceral that came on a bed of rice and was topped with an aioli, sweet eel sauce and decorated with shredded nori. This was savory, sweet and another treat to enjoy. I had raw baby octopus with baby daikon sprouts and some kind of pickled veggie. It was refreshing and very unique. My wife, who will not eat raw fish had the Udon with tempura shrimp. This is by far the best Udon broth of any restaurant in the local area. It is outstanding! Which is a little ironic as a mile away there is a restaurant that specialize in ramen and Udon. But that restaurants udon pales by comparison. We finished the meal with a small scoop of raspberry sorbet topped with a fortune cookie. The quality of food is as good or better than Kens Sushi Station, my second favorite sushi place in Carmel Valley. However, the prices here are far more reasonable than any other sushi restaurant in Carmel Valley or Del Mar. The staff if super friendly and service was excellent. The owners, Tony and Vee and both really nice and checked to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Anthony, the chef that prepared my meal, did a truly remarkable job. Since I live just down the road, my only hope is that they dont get so busy that I cant get a table.

Sushi Exchange is a highly recommended hidden gem for all my friends, family and co workers. The atmosphere is bar none one of the best you could hope for and all the waitresses are very attentive. Very accommodating with any food substitutions. The rolls are delicious and they serve hoy sake. Would highly suggest as well for anyone just getting into the sushi experience.Overall 5/5 stars and by far my favorite sushi place.

Absolutely amazing. I kicked it off with the miso soup and honey ginger tea. I am used to having bland simple miso soup at other places but this one was pact full of flavor and the effort put into making it surprised me. Same story with the tea. Waitress even asked if it was sweet enough. This theme continued through the rest of the meal with the rainbow roll and ceviche of the day appetizer. If you appreciate attention to detail for a fair price with high quality food, you will love this place.

Im glad that I found this place. Good quality at reasonable price. This is our go to place for sushi. My kids love this place. Their kids meal are good and priced good. Chicken Teriyaki is my sons favorite. Yellowtail and Albacore rolls are really good. Shrimp tempura inside rolls is mostly fresh and crunchy.

We like this place a lot. Mostly because servers are sweet and the prices are neat. Pre-inflation prices for delicious rolls— our favorites are the Ninja and the Flaming Hey Lee. I wouldn’t recommend the curry or the udon. The rice in the curry is not great and the udon was just fine. But the rolls are good value. This is a nice low key, casual place. Quite nice!

Checked this place out for a work lunch, having seen that it was getting favorable early feedback and I was blown away! Found this by accident and wow what a good thing that was. We got serval tasty rolls, awesome uni and especially so good was the teriyaki chicken bowl and shishito peppers. Can’t wait to go back and try this fatality roll which has ghost peppers, Carolina peppers and some other deadly pepper.

What a gem tucked away in Carmel Valley. Its close to our house. The crew is always friendly and welcoming and they prob got the best beer selection for a decent sushi spot. Quality is great! They use the same vendors as Ken and other reputable spots but the prices arent ridiculous.They still get busy even on the weekdays during this whole pandemic so get take out by ordering ahead!

I would have liked to give this place a review on their food, but being that we sat down waiting to be served for over an hour and 15min, we werent able to try the food. After we were sat down, 3 other parties were sat down around us within the first 30min of waiting. While waiting, all 3 of those parties were served water first, then theor drinks they ordered, and then their food too all while we had not even been asked what we wanted to drink...not even given waters. We didnt sit quietly either, we got the servers attention on 3 separate occasions and asked him to take our order after the other parties had their order taken and were sat down 30min after we were. We eventually couldnt take the disrespect from the server and left to go to another sushi place. I wouldnt go back here if it were the last sushi place in SD.

Love the sushi and service here! The best rolls are the Andersons, the Ninja, and the Marry Me. Their chicken entree was also super tasty and filling. Very unique atmosphere, the place is quaint but has tons of personality The walls are adorned with awesome décor, and if you have kids that love Anime, it plays on the TVs above the bar. The selection of beer was great, I did not get to try the Sake, but did see a lot of people ordering it and enjoying it. The Sushi, which is the whole reason for coming here, and it was great, the portions are a tad bit smaller than some other establishments, but they are packed with taste, very unique taste that pays for trade off in smaller sized portions. The servers were great at recommending new items based on our likes. Over all this is great spot to come enjoy some great sushi and drinks in a very unique atmosphere.

Ordered 7 rolls via grub hub. Food arrived and it was not fresh. Had that “been in the fridge” fishy smell and taste. I have had sushi from a supermarket blow this away in the freshness category. We used to go at least monthly. Recently, this has happened too often (last one was dining in). Also the service is spotty. Some nice, some not. One time the guy was arguing with me that I shouldn’t have started eating my “wrong” order. Well how am I supposed to know it wasn’t right until I dig in?? (I ordered a noodle dish and got rice—it was on the bottom! You don’t know until you start eating). He had so much attitude with me. Then when I asked for noodles, he said, “I’ll have to charge you for that”. Are you kidding me??? I’m done with this place.

So the food was decent but the wait was unbelievable. From when we put in our order to the time we got food was about 30 minutes, but that was ok only until the first dish arrived. They broke up our 6 dish order poorly. The first dish arrived and the last arrived upwards of another 30 min later, with the other orders sprinkled in between. I LOVE this place! If this is your first time, you have to try the mac and cheese. You will not be disappointed. I went here with a few friends which we shared the calamari, shishito peppers, takoyaki, and cheesy wonton for appetizers. They were all delicious! I ended up getting the caterpillar sushi roll - talk about yummy! Oh and if you do have sushi, you must ask for REAL wasabi. Any sushi place that serves real wasabi is a plus. I highly recommend this place.

Fusion sushi, served in an intimate setting. They have the traditional rolls, but the emphasis is clearly on their custom creations. None of the rolls were terrible, but some (Mary Me, for instance) were mostly a miss. The Fatality Roll was intensely spicy and probably best avoided even if you are a fan of spicy food. I could almost enjoy one piece, but the second one was just torture.A special mention for the wait-staff - they were all uniformly friendly and helpful in a very genuine way.

This relatively NEW sushi restaurant is a perfect fit for the neighborhood of Torrey Del Mar. Their food is superb: the menu has what you would expect on any sushi menu, as well as several food items that are unique. The service is EXCELLENT, the ambiance is HIP and casual and the only thing negative I have to say about this place is that its too far from my home!☺️ (I live in Escondido, but its worth the drive.) My wife and I absolutely love Sushi Exchange. Ironically, Im allergic to fish and my wife rarely eats meat. We generally end up with vegetable rolls, chicken yakisoba (noodle bowl), or chicken teriyaki (rice bowl).One minor issue is that they dont time order delivery very well. Its pretty common to have an appetizer arrive with the entree, which pretty much defeats the point, or to have one persons order arrive 5 or 10 minutes after everyone elses.On the upside, their food is tasty, they have an awesome selection of local craft beers, and a generous happy hour from 3 to 6.

One thing on the menu that caught my eye that I did not order is the Miso butter Mac & Cheese. So sad because it sounds amazing. Will definitely be back!

Fun decor. They had a giant candelabra fashioned intoba kind of Christmas tree, decorated with sort of ornaments (kikoman was my favorite).Strong beer menu. Many options, though I dont drink beer, even I considered getting something as its clearly part of what makes them different from your average sushi place.Informative staff. Was with someone with severe food allergies, and the server literally sat with us for 5 minutes working out what the party member could eat. She went with a sushi roll made from cucumber (instead of seaweed and rice!) - very clever.Enjoyed the spicy pickled vegetables appetizer (Id describe this as kimchi over spicy pickled veggies), and the sashimi salad.

If you like this place... sorry you have no respect for sushi or your butt. You are literally risking food poisoning by design ordering certain dishes.Let me explain...The Aji is served with the raw meat directly on top of the fried bones and head. This is just so wrong for so many reasons... First putting cold raw fish on a hot fried surface immediately breeds bacteria. You are not cooking the fish in any way but you are taking it to room temperature and above. This is a big no-no. Beyond this you end up with lukewarm fried fish and lukewarm raw fish. It’s a health code violation and tragic food fail all wrapped in shiso.Oh... and if you order the raw octopus wasabi nigiri — it isn’t. It’s a little bowl of baby tentacles on top of daikon... no rice. When I questioned what we were served I was told “oh I know it’s listed as nigiri, but it’s not.” My response: “do you think you might want to at least inform the customer what they’re ordering?” Her reply: “well some customers already know what it is.” I will give them credit for both originality and lowering the bar so far there’s really no response.Well played. Servers 2 - customer zero.Moving on:No Sake menu. I asked what type of cold sake they serve and was given the response “hot” twice and then “filtered or unfiltered.” When I asked what were the choices of cold as I like both, I think she broke. The net result - point and guess between two bottles unless you read Japanese. Yay... dinner mystery surprises!!No cups served with sake, only after it had a chance to properly warm back up were we able to get two very different sized cups. Great for taking advantage of dates later - I dig your style SE.No wasabi nor ginger served with fish.It’s easier to hail a cab in manhattan during rush hour than get your servers attention, and there was literally only 1 other customer seated in the entire restaurant; his chuckle heard each time my head lowered in defeat. I questioned for a moment if in fact I had entered the twilight zone...The sashimi belly plate questionably fresh - ok fine... no question whatsoever; it tasted fishy. The fish is also cut very inconsistently in size and thickness - the toro (in reality chutoro at best) more than twice the thickness of yellowtail. The salmon was even less fatty, doubtfully even belly. You get two pieces of tuna but 3 yellowtail scraps and I believe 3 salmon chunks. There’s really no rhyme or reason to this madness... just enough confusion to upset a mathematician, a bus load of sushi chefs and any party more than 1.Amaebi - the cold fried head is served on the same plate as the raw shrimp (at least not on top!). I would be concerned again about bacteria but they are very good here about making sure everything fried is served room temp. They also must just leave the shrimp meat sitting around until they fry the head then let it carefully dry age before serving...I will say once you get used to their new-age methods, each bite gets a little better - kinda like leftovers you forgot to put in the fridge the night before, but go for it anyway.As I sit late at night hoping the feeling in my belly is just the bad taste of horrendous service... I know the bacteria are laughing and toying with the strings of both my innards and soul.Please go watch “Jiro dreams of sushi” on Netflix and make your own dinner. Or go anywhere else, like literally anywhere...
