I had emailed the shop earlier in the week, as I was looking for bike rental near trails as I didnt have a car. They responded with some good advice. The location in Los Gatos is perfect because you can leave the shop and basically get straight out towards Lexington Reservoir. Staff were super helpful and patient when I had some user error problems with the ebike (my first time riding one, and I was thankful for the recommendation with the amount of climbing). Had a good day riding, really glad I made the journey out there!

Chris, Colin and the team helped get me into a new bike even during the SIP and COVID-19. The team was great on the phone and getting a bike ordered, including answering technical and logistics questions.Then when the bike came in, they have a relatively easy process (a little que) for a one on one with a specialist, including setting up, fitting the bike and walking through some key details. Check out and I was riding all weekend. Thanks! Happy to have awesome local shops like this in the community with the customer service and expertise too!

A great local bike shop with top brands such as Pivot, Yeti, Santa Cruz and more. Bought my Pivot Trail 429 here from the friendly and knowledge staff. I try to give business to this shop whenever I can.

All I can say is wow, fantastic shop if you want to start a cycling hobby or fix your current bike. A friend of mine had her bike messed up, thank to a company that assemble Amazon-sold bikes! The front wheel was totally misaligned and my poor friend didn’t know what is going on, other than being annoyed by riding the bike, she was about to hate cycling all together. I promised to help her fix the issue, I went to the shop, met Nik and he instantly identified the issue and told me he needs to order some parts and he will contact me. A few days passed by and no news, so I called and asked about the status of the fix, the shop informed me that the parts are still on the way. After two weeks the parts arrived and the shop text me as promised. I already sent the front wheel only, so I took the rest of the bike with me and met Nik and when he put it in, he realized other issues. I was almost certain I will pay more fixing the bike than the original price, I asked Nik if this is the case, he assured me it is not. He actually made a new working order, seems it was more than just the front wheel, and the next day the bike was ready. I will not tell you the price, but it was super inexpensive, here is what went into fixing that wheel. First, all the larts ordered by eBay, which we know is pain to deal with, they ordered axils, new brake pads, new ring for the break, new wire brake (the original Amazon-certified guy was totally idiot putting the bike together) and finally the stainless steel balls inside the front wheel. Let me tell you this, had I bought all this stuff myself I would have paid more than the total payment I did for the shop.Hats off to Nik and the team, I love the shop and I love the repair center.

Worst shopping experience ever. I made an online purchase. I was giving a ship by date at purchase, only 1 item of the 3 arrived on time and had a tracking number. Other items arrives randomly and separately about 7 days late with no tracking numbers or email communications. Customer service is rude and unprofessional. Managers are hard to reach. Most importantly please read their return policy. If you buy something on sale, or with a discount code, you can no longer return it. What?! They dont let you know that when you are buying online. You will need find that small and almost hidden button on the bottom of the page that says return policy to find out. I buy things on sale from other places and I have never been denied return because I bought something on sale, unless i was clearly warned before purchase.

We had a really poor experience. We bought a bike for our son at the LG store that was a tad smaller than we liked. We then went to a different Summit location and found the right size and bought that. When we went to return the original purchase we were told they would not accept it because they thought it was scratched. It wasnt even used! Also they didnt even point out the scratches. Wont be going back here. Ever.Terrible experience.

I got two trek domane from this store and the experience has been excellent! Darcy, Colin and other gentlemans from the store took great care of us and made sure we got the bike we wanted, he answered all our questions and helped us replace a bike that was larger than I wanted as well! Loved the bike and couldn’t be happier with the purchase 😄

Summit just did a fantastic repair job on my MTB. I thought it was simple but it turned into something very difficult, too complicated to explain here. Summit spent a lot of time and effort working on it and never gave up. In the end I had the great outcome I had hoped for at the onset. Summit had been my bike shop before, and with this experience they really cemented it.

Summit bicycles had a great selection, awesome (understandable) advice and good prices when I went to purchase my first commuter bike. The customer service was phenomenal - they even came out to show us how to remove and replace the front wheel so my bike would fit in the car for the longer drive home.The employees here are experts in riding but speak in understandable terms for us new riders. The process was so easy and straightforward.They also had all the accessories I needed to ride out the door and be able to commute. Other bike stores had smaller (high priced) selections that didnt meet my needs. I loved the full selection at Summit and easy availability.Ill return to them for all my bike needs.

Super awesome team - Ive been coming here for years, since the humble days. Today I decided it was time to buy a new bike - I was met with Dan and his wealth of knowledge and helped steer me in the right direction. Of course I had to pay more to get a bike today, but he helped me cross the line, set up the suspension for me, and away I rode. Thanks guys!

Poor customer service in Service Section: As soon as they experienced 1 shortage in staff members, their time management went down. I had an 11:00am appointment today and was told my bike would be ready before the end of the day (my bike only needed a 15-min general tune up). Checked again at 3:00pm and was told the same story about staff shortage, but was assured that my bike would be tuned up before the end of the day. At 4:45pm (they close at 5:00pm), I stopped again and was told that they cant service it (shortage story again) and I could get my bike and go home (they knew I traveled 64 miles to get there for my pre-scheduled appointment for this simple service)! Anyway, I was stuck there from 11:00am to 5:35pm to get a 15-min tune up service done. I wonder what my 11:00am appointment meant, because a gentleman walked in late in the afternoon and got his bike quickly fixed (before me) and I assumed he didnt have any appointment, because nobody asked him about his appointment etc! Nice customer service!!!

Really poor experience purchasing a bike from their website. Advertised free shipping but then charged $100 for shipping - I contacted customer service and was told oh the website is out of date. When I finally got the bike, the components were cheaper versions than what was listed on the website. I contacted them about this and they again told me the website is wrong and that I was stuck with the cheaper components. They were pretty rude about it too, telling me theyre not responsible for whats on some fing website. I expected better customer service when dropping a few grand on a bike and it really felt like they were trying to pull one over on me at several points in the process. Would highly recommend going elsewhere.

I have received nothing but outstanding customer service for sales and mechanicals at this location. Colin and Poncho were very patient and helpful with my mountain bike purchases. Over the last year-and-a-half I bought a Trek Fuel 9.8, which was stolen, and replaced it with a Pivot Mach 5.5. Colin and Poncho gave me plenty of time to discuss the purchase options, ride the bikes, and made the whole buying process easy. I received good discounts on each sale. They have great service, when you need it, and their hours are reasonable for a bike store. Usually plenty of parking out front or on the side.

Ive bought 4 bikes from Summit Bikes in Los Gatos. Colin has treated me and my wife excellently. Hes knowledgeable, dependable, friendly and runs a good shop. The COVID restrictions have made it crazy this year, but Summit appears to be doing things safely and as expediently as possible.They also have a great selection of bikes! Usually a Trek dealer will carry a full line of Treks and maybe one other cheaper brand where they can up-sell you to a better Trek. Somehow, Summit has Trek, Santa Cruz, Evil, Yeti, Pivot, Open -- there are some really nice bikes there!Highly recommend checking them out.

We bought a really nice mountain bike online and picked it up at the Los Gatos store. The low rating is because the person helping us didnt know anything about the bike, couldnt set it up and was trying to sell the extra expensive parts. Giving two stars because they helped with an easy pick up. If you cant set up your own bike, this is probably not a good place to get it

After my bicycle was stolen, I was desperately seeking a new road bike. A friend recommended Summit Bicycles and to my great surprise they had an endurance road road bike in my size at the Los Gatos location. So I drove down to the South Bay and they kindly let me try several bikes on hand. Another customer nabbed the bike I was eyeing, but I left with a new Trek. After taking it on a local climb once I got home, I realized this wasn’t quite the bike for me. Totally my mistake. I was looking at endurance bikes when what I really wanted was a road/climbing bike. Since Summit has a generous 30 day return policy, I was able to return the bike for a refund in less than a week. They were super nice about it. While I ultimately found my road bike elsewhere (mainly due to COVID inventory challenges), I recommend Summit to everyone. Great customer service. Knowledge staff. Colin in Los Gatos was really going the extra mile to help me find the right ride. The store carries a lot of Trek models and accompanying Bontrager products, but also Cervélo for all serious roadies, along with gravel and mountain bike offerings. If you haven’t considered Bontrager for saddles or pedals, think about it now. Also, if you purchase a bike from Summit they basically include free tuneups. That’s worth the purchase alone for any serious rider. I’ll definitely be checking out Summit for my next ride. Grateful to their friendly staff in Los Gatos!

I dont write a lot of reviews but Summit Bicycles deserves one. I recently bought a Fuel EX through Summit Bicycles and had a great experience from start to finish. The two people I worked with were super helpful and very professional. I strongly recommend Summit Bicycles for everybody, whether you are in the market for a top end bike or simply want to take a gentle occasional cruise.

I’ve been a Summit customer for six years and just bought my third road bike there last month, a new Madone. Their price was hundreds less than the next best price in the South Bay and even better than Internet deals, plus you get 10% off in the shop for a year after purchase and free tune-ups for the life of the bike. Beyond the good value though, I’ve tried other shops and keep coming back to Summit Los Gatos or their San Jose store, Trek Bikes, for three main reasons. Summit’s people are fair, they’re knowledgeable, and they don’t have that bike shop arrogance (i.e. you don’t have to be Cat1 with shaved legs to get their attention). I spend a fair amount of time in both shops and see this good customer service consistently, so I hardly recognize the negative impressions some people are writing in these reviews. A tip I learned, though, is how thankless their work can be with demanding customers and everyone always wanting a discount or free service or part. So whenever I go to Summit or Trek San Jose I try to be respectful, like calling ahead if I need a repair to make sure its a good time to drop by, or occasionally bringing treats for the sales guys and mechanics. In turn, they know me by name and are always willing to help when I’m in a pinch. These guys set the standard as far as I’m concerned.

I discovered Summit while doing some research online as my stadby bike shop in Los Altos recently closed. I had to replace a 3 month old Trek SLR7 due to theft ( i will find you!) and Colin helped me with a Trek SLR8 purchase. The new bike had Dura Ace cable shift and Colin accomodated the swap to DI2 without any hesitation. I needed the bike asap and he had the swap done within 24hrs of my paying for the bike.Ive owned and rode several high end road bike in my life, the same model built at different shops can vary greatly depending on the care and quality of the work of who actually puts the bike together. I expected a good bike, what I got was an exceptional bike, the build quality and attention to detail was fantastic. Colin and his staff should be commended, you have a client for life.

We (my wife, 2 boys, 12 and 14) and me rented 4 bicycles (Trek Xcaliber 8) for four weeks. In the shop the people were very helpful and friendly. Our bikes were brand new and we had a good time riding them. I really recommend renting bikes here, it is worth the money

Derailer broke. They quoted around $60 for the new with installation, plus $30 for brake replacement. On pickup, I am given a bill for $195 and told axel broke and they needed to replace the wheel, too (?? Why not just axel). No calls, no warning, no old broken axel shown - just that: pay up double (discounted $40 after a scandal)Avoid it if possible.

These guys are the best bike mechanics in town. I bring all my bikes here. Ive even got a carbon fiber epic that I bring here instead of Mikes bikes. I just feel at home at Summit, and have known these guys since they used to be at their old location downtown before they moved nearer to LGHS. They are building my sons first bmx bike as I write this review. Great shop.

I arrived at 5.40pm just before they closed. However, they were super helpful and sorted me out with a bike rental so I could ride early Sunday morning (when they are not open until 11.00am).They even swapped the brake levers over since in Europe we have the front brake on the RHS, and helped me get the bike into a station wagon.Shout out to Jackson for the help.Excellent ride on the trails the following day...

I rented a road bike for a day. After 60 miles several spokes started to come completely lose on the front wheel (no potholes, no offroad) and I had to ride the remaining 60 miles with the brake rubbing. When I returned the bike I thought I might get a refund because the bike was faulty. However, they charged me for truing the wheel. I am aware that this is part of the agreement, but I would expect some courtesy in a case like this. The wheel was clearly faulty.

I highly recommend Summit Bikes as they have provided me with an excellent mountain biking experience over the years. Bought a Santa Cruz TB several years ago from them, and did a recent big upgrade on the drivetrain. The bike is lighter and has better climb. Thanks guys!

We built an Open Up adventure road/gravel/ cx dream machine.I knew roughly what I wanted to go for, but Kevin and Colin really showed me the light and gave me some awesome pointers on components that brought this beauty to life. This shop has been a 5++ ever since it opened, and its better today than it was back then. Its the only shop my wife or I will ever go to for bikes or bike services. The service is excellent, the prices are fair, and the sales people and the mechanics are knowledgeable. Thats what I expect, and I get it every time I go.

I think their tech’s knowledge should be better, as I spent an hour and a half of my day to get there and back home because some tech didn’t listen to me.I specifically explained on the phone that I was looking for an Enve seat post (single bolt) hardware set, for 7x10 carbon rails, and the tech (Chris) said they had some in stock. I arrived and I was handed a clamp for some proprietary Trek seat post... when I started to talk to the other tech, explaining that this isn’t right, and I wanted my time; he replied with “sooooo... what do you want me to do about it?!” - I thought: first an apology would have been great... but I decided to bite my tongue as there were other people around, as I might have just lost it (I’m not a fan of correcting and scolding people in public, I don’t like shaming others...). Later I call the shop to explain the situation to the manager of duty, and I was able to explain my end and he even offered several options to rectify the situation but I didn’t call for a discount/etc. I just wanted to be heard, I didn’t want this to happen again to others or myself (who ever you are, you listening, apologizing and ensuring to me that you’ll speak to your staff was incredibly kind and helpful - also why I’m putting 3 stars instead of just 1). Also I wanted to make a point that their techs who should be the most knowledgable people in the shop should know what they’re talking about at all times.

Strange customer service. We rented mountain bikes there before but today we come and get refused rental. The reason was their new demo bike models have not come in yet, and their current demo bikes were put on sale . All it really means is that they cleaned them and parked them on the sales floor. It was too inconvenient for this shop to get paid from us to ride them and got then to have to clean them again.

Needed a DT swiiss 350 free hub called a couple shops they all said they would have to order it and it would be 5- 7 days. Called Summit they did not have one but the mechanic was willing to take one off a wheel that was built sell me the part and order a new one. Thats customer service!!
