Starlight CareGivers has given excellent care to my two elderly parents as theyve aged and become more dependent. They started off with Starlight part time several times a week, and we now rely on them for 24/7 care. As my parents needs have progressed theyve gone out of their way to find the best fit, resulting in caregivers my parents are happy and comfortable with. They have reliably provided my parents with light housekeeping, personal hygiene care, meal preparation and feeding, and are always on top of my dads incontinence issues. When my mom fell recently in the middle of the night, Starlight was able to find a caregiver for my dad so that the primary caregiver could take my mom to the hospital. Finally, Starlight also coordinates mobile home podiatry and hair cutting visits for my parents. I highly recommend Starlight CareGivers and am confident my parents are in good hands.

The front office are very organized and responsive. Policies were clear and they took care to make sure we understood how everything worked. We had one outstanding caregiver, and another who was younger/newer, who wasnt a good match for us, but could have been for someone else.They set up a chat thread where we could upload doctors appointments and therapy visits so everyone knew what was going on.

As I wrote to Starlight after my brother moved:Thank you very much for taking care of my brother!Mainly, I want to thank you all sincerely for taking care of him through a very difficult period. You kept him going as best as his medical situation and personality would allow. I can only imagine where he would be without you and your caring staff. To read that one caretaker ate her lunch right outside his bedroom door so she would be right there if he fell, was incredible. What a group!

There are not enough Google stars for this company! Although he needed help, my dad was very reluctant to allow caregivers into his home. The people in charge at Starlight, Duanni, Angel, and Alex, took the time to get to know him and to select the perfect caregivers for his needs. They made personal visits to the house on multiple occasions, welcomed his input, checked in with me by telephone and email several times a week, and sought feedback from both family and caregivers on a regular basis, making adjustments here and there (and sometimes house calls) to make sure my dad was completely safe and comfortable. They did not settle for less, were exceptionally sensitive to my dads feelings, and never seemed put out by our idiosyncratic requests, day or night, week day or weekend. Within a month or two, Dad told me that he considered the Starlight folks to be, not only his caregivers, but his friends. I cant imagine a better outcome. Starlight allowed my dad to stay in his home of 56 years where he was happy and relatively independent. In fact, his caregivers, especially Margie, Tessie, Eva, and Olga, enriched his final months, for which I am very grateful. Truly, Starlight is as good as can be at providing top-notch professional in-home care!

I have engaged StarLight CareGivers twice to take care of my aging parents. The 1st time was for in-home help as my parents were still living by themselves. The 2nd time, which was in late 2021/early 2022, StarLight provided round the clock assistive care as my father transitioned from nursing home back to his apartment. The care team was caring and kept good records of daily routines and transmitted the info to my sister and I daily. The care period was during the Covid Delta surge where mom and dads senior home had very strict antigen test requirements for outsiders. There were good communications between the care team and my sister and I, and they jumped through the hoops to find appropriate caregivers when dad contracted Covid at the senior home. StarLight made sure there were no coverage disruptions. My father has Alzheimers and was not used to care givers other than mom. The caregivers from StarLight were patient and resourceful and was able to handle dad and provided the care he needed. I couldnt say enough good things about StarLight. If you need care for your loved ones, I recommend strongly you consider StarLight.

My wife has needed a caregiver for the past 10 years. Weve used private caregivers and several agencies. Starlight was the most professional of the agencies. They answered the phone promptly and took care of any issues, such as a caregiver stuck in traffic, with a minimum of fuss. Once they even sent someone from the office when the caregiver was unexpectedly delayed due to a sick child.The caregivers from Starlight were very well trained, something I cant say for the private caregivers or the other agencies. In addition, once they got to know my wife, Starlight found caregivers that she looked forward to seeing. The only problem we ran into is the high cost of living in the area. Two of our favorite caregivers had recently moved to the area but found they couldnt afford it and left after a few months. I wish there was a way for Starlight to have rewarded them with higher pay even if it cost us a bit more.

Our family has used the services of Starlight Caregivers to provide care for our 91 year old mother who has Alzheimer’s and lives alone. We began part time and by the time we moved mom to a memory care facility they provided care for her 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. What we value most about Starlight is their integrity. Over 2 years they have NEVER had an issue covering a shift. Let me remind you that this all occurred during the COVID 19 pandemic while staffing shortages were a real challenge!We have had several long term care givers and Starlight worked diligently to provide consistency. If there was ever an issue we were able to communicate quickly and efficiently in order to come up with a solution.Recently mom had hip surgery and once again we turned to Starlight to provide night care while she is recovering in a rehabilitation facility. I highly recommend Starlight Caregivers for anyone seeking quality care for their loved one!

We would like to thank Angel and the caregivers at Starlight for helping us with our 85 year old mother. We had a sudden and difficult transition in moving Mom from the East Coast back to Northern California; this was complicated by a bad fall, which broke her ankle. Mom needed to finish recuperating here at our house, while we prepared her new permanent living facility. During this time, we had Starlight provide twice weekly support for bathing and other personal support. Reaching out for help for Mom was the right call! The caregivers were wonderful and gave us a much needed respite from round-the-clock support availability. We highly recommend Starlight Caregivers to anyone who is dealing with a similar situation. This review was written 2015 but I wish to re-enter because of the fine care my dad received through StarLight 5. My father was 100+ and still living in his own apartment. Up to May 30, 2015 he was almost fully independent, including cooking his own meals. However, since June he required 24 hour care, while he underwent rehab, relearned to walk, and went to physical and water therapy. Starlight provided 12 hour shifts as well as shorter 4,8 or 10 hour periods when requested. The caregivers provided his personal care, prepared meals and did light housekeeping. They also drove his wheelchair accessible van to shop, get to appointments and make trips out to dinner, visit friends and travel to doctors appointments. Duanni and Angel were exceptionally responsive, almost always attending to my e-mails or phone calls immediately, and making changes in personnel whenever someone did not seem to fit quite so well with my dad. The result was provision of a very strong team for him, with professional back up in place on those occasions when a scheduled caregiver was not available. Starlights Family Portal was very useful, as it provided each individual caregivers care notes for their shifts. Also provided was a schedule of who was coming at least a week in advance. This helped put me at ease, as my wife and I live in the Boston area and the web posted schedule combined with phone calls, texts and e-mails from Duanni and Angel kept me in close touch with Starlight on any personnel shift changes, schedule readjustments, or possible medical issues my dad might have had requiring attention beyond what StarLight caregivers are allowed to provide.We received a synopsis and references for any proposed new staff before they began with my dad. Every potential caregiver was independently vetted by my dad and by me.My dad wanted to continue living in his apartment and StarLight deserves our thanks in making that possible. I recommend them highly to other potential clients looking for caregiving from an agency that demonstrates exceptional professional service, responsiveness, warmth and efficiency. Wes F.

We have used Starlight Caregivers for the past 4 years and they have been great. The team of caregivers that supported my Mom were very helpful and I felt they really about my Moms well being. Equally, the office staff has been very helpful and proactive when there has been is any change to personnel or schedule.I am very grateful for the support they given my Mom these past 4 years and highly recommend them.

The team at StarLight are not only professional and efficient at what they do, but show alot of kindness and care. Each individual caregiver that we had to deal with showed such personal attention. In addition, their coordinating team was so effective in taking care of things that needed urgency and they were very resourceful. If you have a loved one that needs attention and personal care, the team at StarLight is definitely an organization that you can trust.

StarLight helped me so much during my wifes illness. They were competent, showed up on time and were really conscientious in their care. The office staff and management were also very good and quick to respond. I dont normally write reviews, but I really feel my family owes it to Starlight for their wonderful care.

Our familys need for caregiving was unfortunately only about six weeks, but Starlight really came through for us when we needed them.In our situation we initially needed someone during daytime hours and evening to assist my father as his ability to get around and care for himself became impaired due to illness. He also preferred caregivers who spoke Mandarin Chinese, although English was fine as well. We liked how Starlight started by sending a different caregiver each day for a few days, which my sister and I could see through a scheduling website. They then asking for feedback via a group text message feed shared with their administrative staff, which assisted with narrowing down which were the best fit for him. The text messaging was also handy for schedule change requests, instances where a caregiver arrived after the retirement home front lobby was locked (so we had to meet them ourselves), and other instances where quick responses were needed. I dont recall any time where we waited more than a few minutes for a reply, even at night.When we had a regular schedule, 7 days a week of 12 hours per day, it was typically the same 3 caregivers that came. When I was able to be in town with my father, we reduced hours or skipped days with at least 48 hours notice, which they made easy to do. About 3 weeks after starting, my fathers condition declined to needing 24 hour care, and Starlight was able to fill that need within hours. There were a couple of scheduling mixups during our time with Starlight, but they always hurriedly filled the shift as soon as we notified them via group text, and the prior caregiver typically stayed until someone else arrived unless we said it was ok to leave. Nan/Sarah graciously once stayed over an hour later.During the 6 weeks with Starlight we were served by about 10-15 different caregivers, daytime and overnight, in 12-hour shifts. We found them to be caring, adaptive to my fathers needs, conscientious, and respectful of my fathers condition and dignity. Although of varying experience levels, it seemed just about all of them had past personal experience with pancreatic cancer in their families or clients. One caregiver, Roanne, had even worked at a sister facility as a CNA in their assisted living area. Their willingness to talk to me about their experiences and what to expect really helped me as well.Overall, we are grateful to have found such a responsive and caring company to assist us and provide my father with the care he needed, and I would not hesitate to reach out to Duanni and her team if I, or anyone I cared about, needed assistance again.

My 91 year-old mother needed caregiving assistance with medication, bathing, dressing and other activities of daily life.Starlight Caregivers came recommended to us from multiple sources, including a local senior agency, medical clinic, and three former clients. Their online recommendations seemed set them a step above from their competitors.Duanni, the President and CEO, was a former Business Development Manager (at microchip manufacturer AMD). She is active in philanthropic organizations including the Rotary Club, Mentor Tutor Connection and Los Altos Chamber of Commerce. I found her caregiver managers, Frances, Angel, Alejandro, and Samantha, driven and energetic. They dealt with questions and needs in a caring, responsive and prompt manner. In my experience, they communicate, accommodate, and listen, with customers coming first.I understand that Starlight hires only about 5% of applicants, most being certified nurse assistants or certified home health aides. They train and test them (required) regularly, and try to match personalities and styles to their clients. In our case, one caregiver (that was assigned to us) that didnt seem to be a good personality match was quickly replaced.My mother and I have nothing but praise and appreciation for this agency, with their can do attitude, reliability and integrity. They are your go to for high quality caregiving.

My family and I are very happy with StarLight Caregivers. The agency was recommended to me by a friend who has also had a great experience with them. StarLight Caregivers is expertly and professionally run by Duanni Hurd. We started working with the agency in December 2019. Even before the pandemic, I was impressed with my interactions with her and her staff, especially Angel Abell who has been wonderful to work with and very understanding and professional. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have continued to use the agency and have been reassured by the all the precautionary measures they are taking to keep their clients and staff safe. We have worked with other agencies in the past, and we can confidently say that Starlight Caregivers clearly surpasses them. The agency has always been responsive to our requests and worked with us to find the right match for my father. In addition, the staff at Starlight are kind, helpful, and delightful people to work with. We are extremely happy with our caregiver. He is highly skilled, caring, professional, diplomatic, and understands what my father needs and prefers in terms of care. I highly recommend Starlight Caregivers. I cant stress enough how great Starlight Caregivers is! As a former coordinator that helped oversee the care given, as well as training the caregivers that provided the services, I can say that Starlight Caregivers really put the effort in providing the best care out there.With every client, the same care and time is put in place to ensure that both the clients and the caregivers are taken care of. Their scheduling is very thought out, the goal is always to provide the best and consistent schedule given the hours needed.Everyone in the office takes care in what they do because they view this not like a task but as caring for a dear one of their own. My father passed when he was 95 years old. We kept him at home as he was not a social person and loved to be home. StarLight helped us find caregivers that were responsible and good quality. And we are still close friends with one of the caregivers. Over the years we went through many agencies, but StarLight was one of the ones we stayed with. Dad had dementia for many years and they helped us keep him going and allowed me to work. Duanni, Angel, and the caregivers were professional and caring.

This service is a Godsend. When my mother needed help in 2017, Duanni was there right away for a very thorough and compassionate assessment. Her caregiver staff were great, and any issues were handled sensitively and expediently. When I suddenly needed to increase my mothers care to 24-7, Angel had a staff put together for this within hours of calling her. I am enormously grateful that Starlight was there.

Making a decision about which home care agency to hire is incredibly difficult. Our family was managing care at home but it became clear that we needed to bring in healthcare professionals who could flexibly staff to our needs – for daytime shifts or full 24x7 care – and give us honest counsel. After tapping into local elder-care agencies, our geriatrician, and dozens of others stories in online communities, we created our decision criteria: client-focused relationship-builders (not just sell us and hand off), an ability to engage with us honestly and humbly from day one, a care-team with a “can do” attitude (and expertise to back it up), and excellent online recommendations. And ideally a locally-owned company with roots in our community. The Starlight care team were on the short list of every one we talked to, and they hit it out of the park in all our decision-areas - from initial response, onsite meeting and assessment, and follow-up. And once we agreed to move forward, it was exactly as we had hoped it would be.Starlight’s CEO (Duanni), along with her care-managers, schedulers and all the caregivers, were all part of ONE team. Shout-out to Angel (our primary care lead), Tom, Leilani, and Vanessa – and all the caregivers who dutifully and passionately took care of our family - as if they were part of it. The team were incredibly responsive and caring: if a question or issue arose, a quick note to the group text got action (day or night, weekday or weekend), and the online portal provided detailed notes from each caregiver’s shift, so valuable when we needed to try new approaches or strategies. They also worked with us to match and tune the caregivers’ personalities to our family’s needs.We are so grateful for what Starlight has done for our family and give them our highest possible recommendation.
