Lovely atmosphere. Our family ate here for a birthday dinner. It was very busy and yet very calm and nice vibe inside. Delicious food. (the fresh bread was incredible along with all the main dishes). Great service. Free parking all around outside. 5-star experience! 💛

Very chill restaurant, the environment is very nice and is a good place for dinner.Food got no complaints as the portion and price paid is extremely upper standards.The service is a bit slow in terms of order food, just the waitress is very friendly. You need to wait the food cook for about 20-30 minutes, while it provides garlic bread is nice as well.

Place is awesome and cozy.My wife and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary which we both enjoyed because not only the waiters gave us great recommendations for the steaks but also gave us a glass of wine on the house.I truly am grateful for their wonderful service.Highly recommend this place if you are ever in the city of Santa Rosa. We made reservations about a week in advance just to secure a spot for our dinner to celebrate being engaged and they had a table waiting for us! The wait was about one minute and they were quick to ask us what we wanted and our server was fantastic! We ate before we came here which was a bad idea because we were stuffed but we were able to share the lobster together and some calamari! The staff was so generous and poured us some champagne as a gift for our celebration! The calamari was delicious! Lightly crispy and had an amazing sauce on top that was slightly sweet and was able to cut through that calamari! I believe it was and orange ginger sauce! The lobster which we unfortunately didn’t snap a photo of came with ginger butter and let me just say that it was a fabulous pairing! The lobster was perfectly cooked and not too rubbery it was soft and tender! Our server was super understanding that we were stuffed and didn’t press us to order more which was appreciated as we came just to celebrate and enjoy our time in the area! I recommend a 10000x over and over again just for the amazing experience and customer service! Bonus points is that the lighting of the dining area is super moody and perfect for pictures!

We decided to drive from Vacaville to Santa Rosa and stay the night last night. The hotel recommended Starks and we couldn’t have been happier. The food was absolutely amazing. Their garlic butter bread was probably the best bread I’ve ever had! We ordered the roasted bone marrow which was also delicious and had the 16 ounce USDA Prime New York which came out on a hot cast iron pan already sliced and basted in garlic butter. Dinner and dessert was amazing.The only reason why I gave a 4 on the service was because our server seemed to have a ton of tables and didn’t come around too often but that’s not his fault.I will for sure be recommending Starks to friends and family!

1st time to visit Starks with 9 family members. Had starters of Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, Calamari, and a long Island Tea. The main meal was the Prime Filet Mignon and Seared Sea Scallops. The whole meal was outstanding for me, and each family members selections!

A good restaurant that has the potential to be truly amazing. I visited here a couple of times and each time I was a little underwhelmed with the food on the basis it is upmarket and quite expensive. I will say the place, interior and design is exceptionally beautiful, the staff are fantastic, they offer some outstanding wines and an impressive range of whiskeys. If you have the money, it’s definitely worth a visit!

We went here for our anniversary dinner. The restaurant is really nice and amazing food. I had the filet mignon with some Brussel sprouts. The staff is amazing and our waiter was really nice. I would go back again for sure. The dessert we had was so good. It was a chocolate cake with ice cream and a caramel mousse. It was so tasty. I want to try there bread pudding for next time.

Stark’s food was top notch and was the highlight of a recent trip to Santa Rosa. The tomato soup was rich and creamy and paired well with the table’s garlic bread which was soft and had rich texture. Our appetizer of potato fondue turned heads and was a fun way of serving up potatoes in a way most restaurants don’t offer. Steaks were cooked to preference with an excellent sear. One steak sauce was included but really weren’t even necessary. You’ll be advised that sides are meant to be shared and need to be ordered separate. This works well dining for two but bigger groups will need more sides. Service was top notch and food came out quickly. Stark’s really shines with an extensive wine menu, although you can order from the bar. Dessert was a bit of a let down with the Bolo chocolate cake being without much flavor, but the rest of the courses were delicious. It’s likely beneficial to make a reservation for the main dining room which is a bit fancier but walkins were also being seated quickly in the bar area.

Good food, limited menu that is very dated & seldom changes.Prices are on the higher end and reflect the good food they serve, well worth the price.Get the queen cut to share with someone, its delish & wont disappoint.Syeaks are done perfectly!Service is slow & can be hard to get waitstaff attention.Atmosphere is very dated, needs a freshen up. Its dark and can be a bit depressing. This is definitely NOT the place to come if your depressed or looking for lively upbeat environment.HAPPY HOUR - if you just wanna try this place out without the hefty price they do have happy hour for reduced prices.

Usually 5 stars across the board, this time, came a bit early to have a cocktail at the bar, bar was full, all seating in the bar room was apparently reserved seating for diner, not for bar patrons. Went elsewhere for cocktails, came back for reservations, our waiter did not introduce himself, when asked about sauces or sides, he spoke as if they were off the shelf products, lacked follow-up on our meal, the rest of the staff was far more interested in our satisfaction than he was.

I dont usua;;y end up at the popular places in town but seriously, there is a reason they are popular! We arrived in time for a happy hour, seated straight away and wow! Oysters were the best weve had in years, ahi tacos were so fresh and delicious we ended up staying for dinner. I dont know how they get so many great, professional and pleasant people serving and bussing tables. They laughed at my silly jokes as if it were the first time they heard them. Food was all just amazing. I had scallops and my husband had prime rib. The whole experience was a real treat.

While it was a little dark inside to me and my boyfriend, the food was phenomenal. Boyfriend loved the bone marrow (my first time trying it), cocktails were a delight. The complimentary bread was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend got the dry age New York Steak and I got the dry aged Ribeye, best steak either of us ever had (I know there are steak purists but their steak sauce is ✨️amazing✨️). Our server Seth talked us into getting the Meyer Lemon Pudding Cake and it was absolutely decadent in flavor but so delicate (we were already very full, but again, our server talked us into it lol). Best steaks weve ever had, a wonderful experience overall.

Engh, it was okay. Perhaps because I read so many good reviews regarding the quality and taste of food I may have went with high expectations, but it just was not a hit for me. I expected the prices to be what they were, but again, because of the other reviews and 5 star rating I figured it would be worth it. I had the surf and turf steak and shrimp with a wedge salad and my husband had a steak and the Mac and cheese. I had one cocktail (I didnt even finish it because even that wasnt very tasty) and we shared a volcano cake (now that was delicious 😋) and our total bill came out about $150. But i was just disappointed with the taste, unfortunately we wont be returning, maybe some time in the future to give them another shot (maybe they were having a bad night) so if I do go back Ill post another review if its improved

This is my favorite steakhouse in Sonoma County. 💯The food here was amazing! I order the 16oz Ribeye Steak every time, and it always hits the spot. The mashed potatoes, and all the appetizers are great, but have small portions. Nice dessert menu, but the bread pudding is definitely microwaved.It’s very noisy inside, but I’m 100 percent coming back for more!

From the moment we walked in, we knew this would be a totally new experience. It was my first time dining here. My date had been here a number of times previously.The hostess was engaging and professional; really pleasant. We headed to a packed bar to have a cocktail while we waited for our table. Really good energy here. The bartender immediately asked if Id like to order even as she was interacting with other patrons AND making other cocktails. She was both talented and professional. Major props for her customer service. We barely had enough time to taste our drinks before we were taken to our table; the best table in the restaurant.Two waiters immediately came over and walked us through the menu. The were gregarious and professional. Again, the epitome of customer service. The food was fantastic. The servers recommendations were perfect.As a former resident of Chicago who loves steakhouses, Starks easily ranks as one of the best! I went to celebrate with a friend. The service was impeccable and so friendly. The food...oh, the food. My favorite meal since I was twelve. Blue Cheese salad wedge, rib eye bone in cooked to perfection, loaded baked potato and some kind of fudgy cakey yummy desert! My friend and I spit the meal easily. This set a new bar for food in my life. During our stay in Cali, we enjoyed a birthday dinner at Starks. It was absolutely incredible. We sat in the front room as we didnt have a reservation for the main dining room. The casual bar room was the perfect mood. Service was awesome, wine was great and the food was out of this world.We shared calamari which came to our table with no marinara sauce or anything else to dip it in. Very unusual (we thought) but this calamari needed nothing extra. Idk how they get so much flavor into these little pieces but it was so incredible we ordered another. We also shared oysters before our main course came.Our table was divided between the steak and fish. Both were incredible! The sides were big enough to share. The macaroni and cheese was made with cheese that didnt get cold and chewy. The cream corn was super tasty.After a couple days in the Santa Rosa area, we decided to go back for a round 2. The second time didnt disappoint. Food and service was just as amazing as the first time. This place is no fluke. You can tell they pay special attention to ingredients and staff training. The only problem is that theyve ruined steakhouses anywhere else. I will forever crave Starks level of excellence.

The delicious food absolutely competes with our exquisite and professional service. I ordered an Ahi steak that was expected to be a simple 4oz to 6oz. Nope. Definitely an 8oz steak. Went in with extremely high expectations based on reviews we read. Went in as a group of 8 for a birthday dinner. Food was pricey which we were ok with, but the steak was quite fatty (like half the ribeye was fat) and the filet a medium rare was undercooked. It didn’t help that beer was spilled all over one of us and another party members food came out 15minutes later because the dropped it in the back. Accidents certainly happen but between food quality, service, and over all experience, we were not impressed. For the price, I would recommend going elsewhere.

We have been to Stark’s Happy Hour at the bar many times. Excellent ambience, well priced drinks and great appetizers. We finally decided to try a dinner there. We both ordered the Prime (all we buy anymore) Ribeye, mine Med Rare my husband’s Rare. The steak was tough and overcooked. Well-flavored, sauces were delicious and the complimentary garlic bread was wonderful. But we know Prime quality and that wasn’t it. We won’t be back for dinner. Take it from us - stick to the bar!

We have been to Starks twice. Ive been to very few restaurants where the food, service, and ambiance are all amazing. Starks does them all extremely well. If you love steak, you have to give them a try. The only thing I havent been too impressed with is the cocktails that I ordered which were ok. The experience in general is still always top notch and thats whats most important.

My wife and I had dinner here on a Thursday night at about 5:30 p.m. There werent that many people there. We requested a quiet table and were seated in the back near the fireplace. Starks has great ambiance. I like their 50s style jazz music too. We were quickly greeted by our waiter and told of the specials. It took us a while to order because their menu has a lot of options, which I like because you can configure your meal the way you want. I asked a few questions and our waiter gave us thoughtful suggestions when asked not just the usual upscale suggestions.My wife ended up getting the carmelized butterfish with a warm spinach salad. I ordered the prime ribeye with big baked potato with everything. Both were very good. My steak was cooked exactly right (medium rare). The baked potato was a little greasy (which it is going to be with everything) and it was very tasty. My wife really liked her salad. The spinach wasnt too warm and the fish was delicate and delicious. The only part of our meal that wasnt very good is the bread that came with dinner. While it looked good, it tasted like basic Wonderbread. No flavor and poor texture.For dessert, we both ordered the rich chocolate cake. It was small, but enough for us after a big meal and very chocolaty.While Starks is expensive, I thought the quality of the food and the atmosphere made it worth it. The only thing I would do differently next time is come earlier so there arent as many people there. When we first arrived at 5:30 p.m., it was quiet. By the time we left around 7 p.m., it was getting crowded and noisy.

We went here for our 10th anniversary dinner since we were staying at Safari West nearby. It was last minute, but they got us in. Very nice place, beautiful and cozy. Its definitely dress up or down. There was no dress code, but we did feel a tad underdressed.This place is definitely on the higher priced side. You buy every meal a la carte! I had scallops, by themselves.. you had to add on a crock/sides of you wanted anything. Honestly, the steak my hubby had was incredible. Everything else was good, but I think it was very overpriced and over fancied up for the sake of being a fancy and expensive restaurant. My scallops were good, but the browned butter it was in was just like water, so the sauce didnt stick or really have a purpose and didnt really taste great. They were good, but nothing to be overly excited over. They had a weird flavor that I still couldnt figure out what it was. The pancetta just tasted like burnt bacon. But it was so hard and felt like sand and grit when eating. I would order something different for sure next time.The sides were good, but nothing special, although slight for 2 peopleto share. The potato skin fondue appetizer was good but basic and wasnt skins. It was huge chunks of x crispy, burned potatoes. It was good but just not what I expected. I also had the add-on cup of cauliflower and truffle oil soup. Tiny cup and expensive just to have legit truffle oil poured on top. It was ok also. Basically.. Its a dish for the sake of being fancy.Our bill with 1 beer and the tip was close to $200! And it was just ok. They were very nice and on top of everything, though. Great atmosphere, cute place.

We sat in the bar area as our reservation was for that between time after lunch and before dinner. It was noisy and crowded. Our server was attentive and helpful, but I think the noise level made it difficult for him to hear our order properly. My wife wanted to try the Bone-In New York Steak based on an interview she read with the owner wherein he said that was the tastiest way to prepare the tastiest steak. Her order came sans bone, but we just shrugged and ate it. It was still good, but the mood was soured by getting the wrong item.We will probably come back at happy hour or dinner time next visit, and we are DEFINITELY going to be back.

Locals love this place, but we had a bad experience. 6:15 dinner reservations on a Sunday night to celebrate a special event. We arrived on time, got seated promptly, then....got a glass of wine and a NA spritzer dropped off at our table at 6.45. I was talking to the manager when our entrees arrived at 7 30 pm. I had been eagerly anticipating their prime rib, having enjoyed it thoroughly in the past but to my utter disappointment, they were already sold out by 7pm! Although the rib eye steak was delicious, I could not reconcile myself to the fact that they ran out of prime rib by 7oclock! You would think with all their years in business, they would be able to plan better than that. I was very disappointed.The service was excellent!The atmosphere left us slightly disappointed as well. There was a large party seated across from us and they were so loud, we had to practically yell at each other in order to have a conversation. I would suggest setting aside the dining area in the back corner for all the large parties, when possible, in order for smaller parties to enjoy their dinners and have pleasant conversations as they dine.

I have been to the best steakhouses and the best service restaurants in the west. I am from Portland where bad food is run out of town. My career involves constant travel and high end restaurants.This Steakhouse is in a class of its own. I recommend splitting the 20oz ribeye after starting with a bowl of Soup or Yesterday. If you can afford it get an order of bread and butter.And don’t leave without the bread pudding. If you’re lucky your servers will be Skylar and Kaitlin who set a new standard of excellence in customer service.

Recently came here for a lunch with co-workers. It was great! i had the Caesar with steak and it was tasty. The steak was so tender and the Caesar itself was good. The hibiscus soda with mint was good but for $9....im sorry but that is a bit much (but seems like the norm for sonoma county). Server was good. This place does not make it easy to hear each other, conversations at the table are difficult. Going to visit for lunch again. Im a butcher and a former chef, so I dont go to steakhouses frequently, but I wanted to take my special girl out for our anniversary. Obviously, I wanted to get something that I cant easily do myself, so I got the smoked prime rib and a 1.5lb lobster. I was not disappointed. It was fantastic. My girlfriend got the prime filet with the peppercorn sauce. It was great! Sides, appetizers, dessert, all fantastic. They also have a great wine selection and a really nice selection of whiskies. Im honestly not sure why the reviews for this place are high as they are. For being a higher-end steak house I was pretty disappointed with the food. The steak was poorly Seared and not to desired doneness. The truffle fries were soggy and poorly seasoned worth maybe half what theyre charging for it. The atmosphere when I was there was incredibly loud it sounds like I was at a hockey game. There was a 20 min wait even though we had a reservation. Despite being told that the cucumber drink was made in-house with just ginger beer and cucumber juice, it had high fructose corn syrup that gave my girlfriend and I severe migraines. Luckily we took a Lyft here or we would’ve ended up in an accident when driving back home. We clearly communicated with the staff beforehand about our dietary restrictions (we both have inflammatory bowel diseases) and confirmed that we cannot consume any other sugars other than sucrose. The server also seemed stressed about simple modifications to my steak when all I asked for was to only have salt and pepper with no butter! What’s so difficult about that? There was paprika in my potatoes that sent me into a GI flare (again, asked for just salt and pepper) and now i’m dealing with abdominal pain. He made it weird and confusing when he asked 5 different times if I wanted to remove things on my food when I clearly communicated beforehand about my dietary restrictions and what I only wanted on it. Reunited with college friends from the band Worthington, I made a rare visit to a steak house. I started with a Russian River Blind Pig. Delicious, I had it on a previous visit to Russian River Brewing but enjoyed it even more here. My only complaint is not having two because I had to drive back to the SF Bay Area after dinner. I started with the kale salad. It wasnt what I expected because it was shredded. Maybe another vegetable in there would be more nutritious but the dressing level and other ingredients make this salad incredibly tasty and the presentation makes it easy to eat. We tried several sides and all were very high quality in ingredient and prep-mashed potatoes, brocolini and onion rings. Im not very qualified to review a steak because Ive been a vegetarian most of my life and eat a significant percentage of vegan meals. My last steak was April 2019 in Vegas. Still, the Bone-in Prime prepared medium rare was thick, juicy and tender. I had several bites before trying a sauce but of the two peppercorn sauces, the table favorite and waiter favorite was the green. I liked the black just as well. The dining area feels warm and established. A great eating experience on a corner outside the towns main paths.

I don’t know how why the only restaurant in the Stark family carrying the Stark name sucks so much. My steak was under seasoned and over-cooked. And the chimichurri tasted like something that has been in a jar on a shelf for 15 years.The ambiance isn’t worth the price either- much like Montey’s, it’s obvious this flooring and lighting was set up in the early 90s by someone with sad taste, and no one has touched it since. We arrived just after 6:30, parking good but they were packed. Waited about 15 minutes. Truly an excellent experience. Everything was wonderful although the shrimp were overcooked but that can easily happen. My steak was perfect. Oysters were fresh and yummy. Nice selection of cocktails and wine. If you bring in your own bottle of wine and you buy one of their bottles they will waive your corkage fee for your bottle. I thought that was a nice touch, especially in wine country. I don’t know if they normally have cloth tablecloths and have skipped that due to Covid, but for the price they charge and the caliber of restaurant I was surprised and disappointed to see naked tables. Silverware seemed to also be on the cheap side.I ordered a cuppa coffee with my delicious dessert. The coffee was outstanding! They use a French press and it was plenty strong and flavorful. Cup for cup, Starks couple of coffee hands-down wins ever a regular cup of Starbucks coffee. I know it’s a steakhouse and I shouldn’t be talking coffee but when you have a really nice meal and you order dessert it’s nice to have a cup of coffee with it and Starks certainly knows how to make their coffee.There was lots of parking. The meal is going to be very expensive for you. My daughter and I ordered oysters and then we each had a meal with one side and we had a salad, coffee, dessert, and we each had two drinks from the bar. Bill came to about $200.00.

Okay I have to admit I just had a 9:15 reservation. It was really awesome. Now it is not Gary dankos in San Francisco. But it is absolutely hands down the best three or four star restaurant I would say in Santa Rosa. Now for two people with two drinks. It was 130. Which is not bad at all especially when all we got was regular steaks and some beers nothing fancy nothing too insane and a side. But the atmosphere was pretty amazing and I feel so bad that I didnt ask for the waiters number. Because the waiter was amazing. You made sure to handle our food directly and made sure that we knew that the questions were answered correctly and helped us out with the drink and food selections. I do regret not asking his name. Anyways basically for $100 dinner it was pretty perfect. Me and my date will be coming back here for sure.

Excellent, large steaks with choices for tasty toppings and sauces. My husband and I shared the bone-in rib eye with Bernaise sauce. Delicious! Generous side dishes meant to be shared. Good wine list. Fresh oysters and good seafood selection though we didnt try any on this occasion. Our local friends highly recommended this restaurant and have been coming here routinely for many years. Its a great place for a foursome as conversation can be heard even in a busy restaurant. One bad experience is worth trying again. 3 bad experiences, I wont be back. The Prime Rib smells and tastes like liquid smoke. Big disappointment as they used to offer great food but its just average now. They forgot to acknowledge birthday and anniversary even though it was communicated at time of making reservation and again upon arrival. Service was terrible! They have a BOH fee so me mindful upon leaving tip. Bottom line, poor service and just average food. I hope their food and service improves so that their customers have a good dining experience. From the outside this lively bar and steakhouse / seafood restaurant does not look so inviting, but inside the world is very different. Locals and visitors alike enjoyed a happy hour menu which could satisfy a full dining experience if you wished. We spared our hunger and took some red wine and a couple of dishes just for now. Oysters 3 for $6 and fondue roast potatoes were great. Then we came back 2 hours later for dinner. We ate in the bar rather than the restaurant - since the atmosphere was so good. As many bars, it is a little dark but fun and plenty going on. Waiting staff all very helpful and considerate.

Brilliant food! Went during Happy Hour on a Friday evening. The place was pretty filled up and we had to wait around 20 minutes to get a table. But the food totally made up for it! The Prime Rib was on point! So were the oysters, mini burger and steak sandwich. But the best by far was the Crispy Calamari which was by far the best fried Calamari wed ever had! We’ve been to Starks a handful of times. Each time there seems to be some disappointment. The food is subpar and overpriced/over-rated.Our most recent visit was mixed with satisfaction and disappointment. We first sat with Anthony in the bar. The happy hour Moscow Mule tasted weak as if it was only Ginger Beer. Anthony was made aware of the situation and was very rude and condescending about it. He seemed bothered to have been asked to remake it. No apology was given either. When you’re paying for quality hospitality, you should get above-average service. Anthony should choose a profession by which he enjoys his job and doesn’t pass his negative emotions down to the customer spending over $400.Once sat in the dining room, our Italian server, Leo, was amazing! He had a great personality, knowledge of the menu, and other great characteristics! Although, we were disappointed when the rib-eye Prime cut. It was $60 and primarily fat. Normally, a prime ribeye is going to have a marble-like appearance and instead it was mainly fat. As a result, we will never order that again. Stay away. Guests are better off with the filets.Next, while we enjoyed most of the other entrees and sides like the butterfish, prime rib, and petite filet, we were disappointed that the shrimp in the surf n turf was over cooked. Perhaps seafood isn’t a speciality that Starks should offer if they can’t prepare basic items and charge a premium for the food.Management didn’t seem to want to remedy the situation. We usually celebrate birthdays at Starks, but going forward, we will be exploring other options in town!
